If you dont mind the wait time (if any, it said 21 days for me )
it looks like a good buy

Fake (PU) leather, no wake functionality, can be had for 10 bucks from other places. There are threads here with links to the cheaper ones.

Looks pretty close to the Exotek case on Amazon, which does have wake/sleep function as well as cutouts for the speaker.
http://www.amazon.com/EXOTEK-Slim-F...qid=1357736583&sr=8-1&keywords=exotek+nexus+7
I bought it for $12 plus $5 shipping, and I have to say I was impressed, especially for the price. Its sleeker than I expected, its downright tiny. The clips hold it extremely tight (a little too tight IMO, I stretch them out a little whenever I take it in and out, I noticed it warping the glass slightly when first got it a week ago, seems perfectly fine now). The leather/faux leather is nice quality, and seems to be aging nicely from touching it. The microfiber lining isn't as nice, the cut edges are a tiny bit rough, but nothing too bad (I'm rather nitpicky). The stand functions nicely, although neither angle option works particularly well for typing. I've had no trouble with the wake/sleep function. I also like the little tab that keeps it shut when closed, it also gives you some purchase when you're holding it with the cover folded back.
Overall, very satisfied with the cover. Been looking at this one too lately, I like the color options:

Opinions on my ordered case Review added

Hi guys I was looking for a cheap case for my n7 since its insured with my bank I'm going to use it all the time so that means travel so I grabbed a case that was cheap and had a couple of reviews
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008GEBFQK/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
Anyone here got this case and can tell me anything about it its already on its way
Review
So after ordering one case it got lost the the mail but I contacted the seller and received another case the following day good service there
Now the case is a perfect fit and the wake sleep function is very handy stands up well and the n7 feels like it's snug and protected it also adds very little extra bulk so my tablet still fits in my jeans happy days
In summary if you love your tablet and want to keep the 7" wonder safe but don't want to break the bank I would recommend this case oo and the carbon fibre look makes the case look very flush
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
I have that same case except mine isn't carbon fiber and its pretty good. The n7 fits perfectly in it and its not that bulky for a leather case. All in all I would say its a good case.

The photos look like they photoshopped jelly bean screenshots on top of a Kindle Fire--even the fact that they left one of the pictures as a closeup of the speaker port for the Kindle Fire is kinda funny. Other than that it might still be pretty decent.
Edit: Actually that closeup is an iPad--seems kind of weird that they included that picture for a 7-inch case of a completely different product.
Well I did notice the camera hole was missing from the front in the picture however I have seen reviews saying all access holes are perfect I hope the picture is just a mock up

Any Real Leather Cases, Like This One?

I have a Poetic Hardback Case from amazon
It's nice for the price, but the hard plastic feels real cheap. I was googling cases and found this one.
PDair Nexus 10 case
One of the nicest cases I've ever seen, but there is no way im paying $112 for it lol. So does anyone know any good looking real leather cases like the one I posted above?
I can't post links, sorry.

There are two different versions of the case, and on expan they only have one picture of it.
Version 1 is like an iPad smart cover where it folds up in the back for it to stand up. Version 2 is like my poetic hardback case where you put the tablet into the "indents." I hate covers where you have to fold it up in the back to stand it up, so I'm going to email expansys and ask which one it is. It seems like it's version 1, the fold up one.
(Had to edit out the url in the quote since I can't post links.

Any chance you have any pictures of the case? I just ordered one of these. If it's as good as advertised, I think it'll get the job done.
I second the Noreve suggestion. I have one for my N7 and I love it. Here's their case for the N10 : http://www.noreve.com/langue/en/product/Samsung_Google_Nexus_10_Tradition_leather_case.html

My wife got me this one for xmas http://www.amazon.com/i-Blason-Goog...d=1357244965&sr=1-2&keywords=iblason+nexus+10 I like it.
It looks like exactly what you are looking for, costs $18.00 and smells like leather to me. The only fault I can find is that there is no opening on the bottom for the POGO charger, whenever that is available, so you have to open the case to be able to use it. But for $18.00 and Amazon (who are excellent on returns if you don't like it) it's hard to go wrong.
I picked up one from Bear Motion on Amazon. It's much nicer than you'd think considering the price. They make a brown one too. Magnetic seal and auto-sleep/wake. After using it a few days, it has softened up a bit and feels even nicer.
Search 'Bear Motion Genuine Cowhide nexus 10' on Amazon. I don't have enough posts to put any links in yet.
Additionally, I bought a clear screen protector and carbon fiber 'style' protector for the sides and back from Skinomi. (Their website is cheaper than Amazon and used a promo code 'skinomi25' for 25% off.) I am not usually good at installing such things but it turned out pretty well.

I was looking at the bear case..are the top parts of the speakers covered by that case? I currently have the poetic dura case and sadly the only part of the speaker that is covered is the part where the speaker actually is :-/.

I ordered a Bear Motion from Amazon. It arrived today but was a mistake. The one I received was clearly for another, smaller tablet. Anyway if the one for the Nexus 10 is the same material I wouldn't like it. If it is real leather it fooled me. It is very pleather-like. I now have my eye on much more expensive leather cases like the ones that people are selling on Etsy or Nor eve.

Can not post a link yet, will try later.
I would say the top of the speaker is covered about .5” or less. I haven't noticed any issues with sound. It is actually leather, though it's really stiff at first. The inside has some sort of soft/fuzzy cloth lining. I'm pretty happy with mine so far. I used a skinomi wrap/screen cover too for extra peace of mind.

I ordered one a few days ago. When it gets here I will let you know, but black is the only color they keep in stock. Everything else is made-to-order. I got a brown one, so it might be a few weeks.
One think to keep in mind is the Noreve site includes VAT in the prices. If you create an account, it will update the price to exclude VAT (as long as you live somewhere that doest do VAT). They also ship free. Still pretty expensive though. It was around $92 for mine.
One thing that is pretty cool is they link to third party reviews of their product and they are organized by device, case color, and language. At least one of them is a video review of a case for the Nexus 7. I didn't see any reviews for a Nexus 10 case, but the other reviews give you a pretty good idea of the quality.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk 2
Update on the Bear Motion case, still a great case overall especially for what I paid, but I have noticed a flaw. The cutout for the POGO port has no stitching between the leather outer material and the interior lining. The adhesive has broken down a little and the lining is just a tiny bit loose around the opening. I intend to fix this myself with a needle, some black thread and about 5 minutes. This does have the potential to happen on the edges of the leather areas that do not have stitching though.
It should be noted the area with this issue flexes A LOT though. I'll post a picture later. It is very minor and I'd still buy this case again, but the manufacturer could easily prevent this with an extra couple inches of stitching.

I received my Noreve case yesterday, so it took a little over three weeks to get to me (it is faster if you pick a black color). It is clearly much higher quality than the Bear Motion case I tried previously and better anything else I have seen on Amazon.
That does not mean I don't have any complaints. Mind you, these are pretty minor but they are complaints nonetheless.
Firstly, they have some sort of thin layer of open cell foam under the front cover. Yesterday when you pressed a bit on the front cover, you could feel and hear the foam compressing. Today, after having it in my messenger bag, that sounds seems to have worked itself out. I much prefer the feel of the back, which seems to be leather right on top of plastic. The inside front cover has some sort of rubber or gel padding and I like that too, but I am not sure the inside front cover is leather. I don't think it is. I guess they are going for a soft, cushy feel on the front.
Secondly, the clasp is slightly annoying. Someone asked how firm it was and I will say it is pretty firm. It definitely stays closed and I have no complaints about how well it functions, but the problem is the clasp on the front cover prevents the device from laying flat when the cover is folded back because the clasp points down.
The last complaint I have is the process of converting it to stand mode. You have to pop the tablet out of the bottom of the case to stand it up. This isn't an easy or quick task because the case grips the tablet pretty tight.
Despite my complaining you just read, I actually really do like the case. It is definitely quality made with quality materials.

Case that protects...but doesn't block the speakers?

As the title says...I am trying to find a flip case that protects but doesnot cover the speakers at the same time. I bought the poetic duracase with high hopes but it turns out that the straps actually cover the 'real' speaker area and leave the rest uncovered.
Has anyone found or had experiences with any cases that leave the entire speaker area uncovered?

I am reasonably happy with it (although the price seems to keep going up -- it was $9.95 when I got it and was originally release even cheaper). The protection is good. The wake and sleep functionality works OK. My biggest complaint is that it is a little bulky.
I am still waiting for something like the original cover shown in some of the Google announcement videos.
Is that pulling the screen away at all? And how hard is it to take out?

Just received this one in the mail. The auto sleep works great and speakers are not covered. it measures 3/4 inch (2cm) when closed and is made of a composite leather. You can also take it out with ease but secure eniugh that it wont fall out.

Like one of the above posts, I also have the Poetic Hardback case. There are two very small tabs on the speakers (used to hold it in place) but they don't block the sound in any way. The case does add a little bulk, more than I was hoping for.

I love this case. My first had two tabs that didn't hold it in good. I was sent a replacement and it fits perfect and seems to be made a bit differently. Just stylus holder on opposite side and smaller loop and case didn't smell like chemical and more like leather. Definitely the new one is much better.
I don't think it is bulky at all, I think it is very slim and doesn't create much thickness at all. My roocase is much much more bulky.
I've bought this one.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AW6515G/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
I like the roocase due to the bulk...... Weird you may think but if my tablet falls on the screen it will never come in contact with the screen so the case takes the beating not my screen. This tablet is my baby Haha and I'm young and don't care too much about how heavy it is just whether it protects or not. It is a pain for fps tho so she comes out of the case for that but I'm normally laying down on a nice soft bed or couch.

MOKO Ultra Slim case in the UK...

Looked a couple of days ago and it wasn't available in the UK, but now it is. Not quite the deal that is available on Amazon.com, but still reasonable.
Ordered mine today and should get delivered tomorrow with Amazon Prime.
Sending my LuvTab back (piece of rubbish) and hopping this moko is what it's been made out to be.
Here's the amazon link... http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00AHBKW2S
Actually, the cover has been on Amazon UK for a couple of weeks, just well hidden Unfortunately the metallic tab threatening to scratch the screen is a deal breaker for me. I'm frustrated, there doesn't seem to be a cheap, quality, lightweight, "pleasant to the eye" Nexus 10 cover on the market. The red and black Poetic Slimline would be my choice if it wasn't manufactured so poorly. I bought my used Nexus 10 off Ebay (apparently part of the first batch sold in UK, November 2012, no creaking, minimal light bleed, uniform screen) and it came with the cheapest GMYLE / Tecknet cover, in pink. I'm not much into pink myself so I decided to replace it but I'm not able to find anything that pleases my eye at a reasonable price. I guess it'll be, at least temporarily, another 7€ GMYLE / Tecknet clone for me, only in black. It's a bit heavy for a plastic shell type cover but it looks sturdy enough. Guess it will have to do untill Noreve decides to lower it's prices to 20-30€
The metal should be fine as long as its not an edge that's touching. I'll update once i've tried it out tomorrow.
Its crazy the lack of quality accessories available. Time will tell though I guess.

Bought mine.
Very pleased.. been waiting weeks for it to become available to the UK
i was worried about the metal but its not touching the screen. i also put a small amount of sticky tape on it to make sure
In the end I opted for the Slim-Fit Multi-angle Folio version which is a bit bulkier than the Ultra Slim, but it looks great in red Ordered mine from the USA site.
I ordered both of them, the ultra slim and the slim. The ultra slim is a piece of garbage in comparison. The slim is very good feeling, whereas the ultra slim feels very very cheap. Mainly my issue is it only attaches at the magnetic clip in the center so that causes the top to slide around when it is being held. It should really attach on the sides as well more like the poetic case does. Also the foldableness is kind of useless since it doesn't work all that well.
Thank god it was only $5.99 for it

Veox Smart Cover

I'm a bit particular about cases/covers for my devices, and this is the third I've bought for my Nexus 7. But I really am pretty pleased with this one. I've also got a Poetic slimline, and the official Nexus travel cover.
This is a slim folding smart cover from "Veox". Purchased via Amazon in the UK. Cost £19.95, so not cheap. The back is a very thin, fairly flexible plastic, so hopefully it won't crack at the corners like some cases do. The front cover is a lightly textured vinyl, which isn't pretending to be leather. Inside the front is the usual fabric. The wake/sleep magnet functions perfectly, and isn't putting the tablet to sleep when folded right back. It's a little unsteady in the perch & type positions, but I expect that to improve as the cover loosens up a little. And all the ports, mics, etc. are catered for (on a WiFi model).
A few pics for you folks to peruse. Maybe this case is available in other markets under a different name.

wow this is the first ive heard of this cover but I think this is the closest ive seen in terms of a thin frame with the smart capabilities. The poetic and and others still have a very thick case holding the tablet which im not a fan of, but this looks very nice and thin. Do you have a link by chance?

This case does look great. I have one question: does the cover stay closed when it faces down? I have a Poetic slimline case. It doesn't feel as high quality as this one, but it has 3 small magnets at the "right" side of the case (Nexus 7's button side) so it holds the cover. I really like that feature and I hope this one does, too.
This is very similar to the one I bought on ebay:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Fold-Magneti...0&var&hash=item4d089682dd&_uhb=1#ht_50wt_1139
Mine has a longer cover so it kind of wraps around and it probably stands a bit sturdier. Love this case
No, there's no retention for the cover, so it will flap open if you hold it on its edge or upside down. But to be honest, that doesn't bother me at all.

I must have a newer version than your colleague then because I have never had it sleep with it folded back...in fact that was the first thing I tested!
Interesting thing my room-mate notices with his rotating case from BestBuy (that does have the sleep issue with the cover folded back); if he has it in portrait mode when folding back it does not sleep and he can then turn to landscape without issue, but if he has it in landscape first it will sleep right away.

Is there any way to order it in US?
Had a look on Amazon and eBay US sites, I don't see anything resembling the Veox. The Amazon UK seller shows rates for shipping to Australia & Far East, but not US. I'll email and ask.
Update: Vendor on Amazon UK will NOT ship to USA. Sorry.

What ever happened to "it's a small world"
I had one.
The magnets kept on shutting it off. It's totally useless.
(VEOx Case)
Really? The magnet in mine is behaving perfectly. Only puts the Nexus to sleep when it's supposed to. Maybe you had an inferior early version.
