Hi,
First of all i apologize for my english.. Now i hope i can explain my problem..
I have a Galaxy S3 I9305 bought in Germany and i'm having some audio issues.
When i connect my headset (the ones that samsung gives) the phone reconize them (it says "headphone connected" and shows the icon) but if i try to listen music it doesn't work... If i pull out a little the jack it starts to work but then i have to don't touch the jack or i will lose the audio again.. is there any soultion ?
Ah, and the 3,5mm "isn't plugged in all the way".. "the ‘shaft’ of the headset isn't all the way in with the white portion of the headset touching the ‘frame’ of the phone" i have to push harder ? i tried a bit harder...but i don't want to break the socket..
Hope you can help me
Just try another pair of headphones or plugging it into some kind of a speaker via AUX to see if you have a faulty socket, if all is well then just use another pair of headphones or chase whevever you purchased it from for a replacement pair

Anyone else having an issue with the headphone socket, when I plug my headphones in and put the phone in my pocket or bag it only takes the slightest knock or me just walking to jar my headphones lose and then the music pauses. I know I could turn the "pause music when headphones disconnected " off but I find it handy and in this case the music would continue to play until I'd opened my bag to plug my headphones back in.
Any tips for me?
I've yet to try a different set of headphones I must admit. I don't have a second set to hand
Yes, exactly the same issue. With some earphones its really bad, with others its a little less bad. I even have two identical sets of headphones, one of which disconnects with the slightest touch of the plug, the other is not quite so bad, but still a pain. Must be a common problem.
its crap, can't believe this wasn't a known issue when the device was being tested. Its go the point I'm thinking of selling the phone and getting something else
Nothing like that here ... Its nice and firm ... Maybe you should get a replacement ...

Are you sure you put your 3,5mm connector deep enough in the socket?
I don't recognize this problem at all, its more the opposite.
Last week I pulled my cx300 out of my phone the connector was still in it, the rubber protection came loose from my cx300, I put it back and haven't managed to do that again.
i don't have this problem either. im using all sorts of headphones and still ok. put it all in. push harder. lol. all headphones work but not the mic. especially the three button ones
maybe its just the excuse I need to buy some new headphones
Use bose earphones... Socket Isn't loose at all.
Maybe you've already defective socket or earphones.

It seems that my galaxy tab's 3.5mm headphone jack will not work when plugged in all the way. if I leave may be 2-3mm out then it will work. Does anyone has similar problem?

Thats usually a sign of a worn out/damaged/dirty jack (or plug). That can easily happen if you plug in/out headphones a lot, or even if the headphone jack gets banged around while plugged in.
Never had any probs with mine in almost a year.
I'd make sure its not the headphones by trying a different pair first. If its not the headphones, then you could try cleaning the jack - or sending it to Samsung for repair (should still be under warranty)
Hi everyone,
Yesterday my plug of my headset broke off, and is now stuck in the audio jack of my Galaxy Note.
I have insured my Galaxy Note, but I want to send the phone to the insurence company after Christmas/New Year, so I can still shoot photo's/video's for the holidays.
But because it's stuck in the audio jack, the phone thinks there's a headset connected. So when I try to make a call, I'm forced to press Handsfree to hear the other person. It's the same thing for the Music player, I can't hear the songs.
It's not a big problem that it's stucked, but it's a big problem for me to make calls this way.
So my question is, is it possible to (temporary) disable the audio jack? I've tried an application from the Market that should do the trick (Headset blocker), but it didn't work for me. It still thinks there's a headset plugged in.
So is there someone who knows, how to disabled the audio jack with an app, or a command or another way to do so?
Thank you for your help and have a nice holiday!
you could try a dab of superglue on the end of a toothpick to try to get the piece out.

I've tried that already (found tutorials on Youtube), but it don't work. It's to stuck in the audio jack. I went to a repair shop and they have tried it, but they can't get the piece out also. They say that the phone must be opened (insurence company).
But if I managed to (temporary) disable the audio jack, I'm happy also, so that I can use my phone normally. I will bring the phone to the insurence company after the hollidays, because the repairing takes normally a couple of weeks.
OMG, I've got it!!
I've found an app that worked!!

Would be faster if u just unscrew the backcover and remove the stucked headjack uself.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1395971
But of course, can u send it in, if u are afraid to loose warranty and dont want take the risk.
I would do it myself, with such minor problem, instead send it in, that takes few minutes to fix and few weeks waiting to have it back.
Unscrew 9-10 screws, remove backcover, pop stucked headjack out and put backcover back.

Thanks for the link mate, couldn't find any pics or a vid about the inside of the Note. Just had my phone apart, it seems to be that the thing that's stuck, is too small to remove it from the audio jack, so the whole audio jack must be replaced. I see in the pics and vid its a part that can be replaced, so i know that now, thank you!

i had this problem on many devices... you can try and disassemble your phone and push jack's clips back in..but that's risky. Better take it to a specialized service
I had this same problem! My solutions is push jack's clips back in.
Does that problem appears on other headsets ? If not you just have broken jack in your headphones. Just change the headphones.
Sorry for my English./ Send from my Galaxy Mini.
Hello. I'm going to keep it brief. My phone's headphone jack has been messed up for a long time now (maybe a year, and I've had it for two years exactly). The left ear will have sound, and accessory will work, but the right ear is not working. As far as I know, there hasn't been any water inside the headphone jack, so I don't understand what's wrong with it. I'm running official firmware (latest), never rooted the phone or anything. Is there any way to test if the headphone jack is actually faulty? I don't want to pay 50$ to fix it, considering that I could get a chinese phone that performs similar if not better for like 100ish$. I remember I used the headphone jack normally in the morning, and when I went to plug my earbuds once I was done with classes, the right ear wasn't working.
Thanks!

Stupid question, have you tried other headphones?
Anyway, mono audio is usually caused when the jack is not fully inserted, try blowing some air in it and see if anything is stuck in there, For the jack to fully enter you should feel and hear a click. Post results here

Hey. Sorry for the late answer. Yeah I've tried with so many different headphones, even my Logitech G430. I guess it's the hardware itself. Can't say I didn't drop it from ear level on concrete so...
Please check if something is stuck there because it is really strange, also make sure you plug the jack all the way in. Other than that, there is not much else to do...
