[Q] Bootloop after busybox install. - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
I have an xperia x8, with gingerdx 028, stock kernel.
Today I try to flash a newer busybox to it, cause the superuser not works properly (sometimes didn't ask for permissions).
I've installed one from the market, after that I stuck at bootloop.
No CWM recovery, only adb, can't boot to recovery with adb reboot recovery, so I don't have root permissions.
My question is, that is it possible, to change the busybox, without recovery and root?
ONLY ADB WORKS!!
Thank you so much!

Use Sony PCC and Reflash stock rom using 'repair your phone' option. Do not install the busybox from market agan. It's known to unroot and give bootloops on x8/x10/w8. download x8toolbox.final from here and root. everything should be fine from them on.

HIT THANKS IF I HELPED!!!

You aren't suppose to update busybox on your own..
Also , I don't think it was a busybox problem causing the bug..
Next time , simply do a full-wipe and reflash your ROM.

You shouldn't touch busybox on stock kernel because it will brick the phone.

Mine bricked once
Sent from my W8 using xda app-developers app

I have the same problem with Busybox bricking my phone. I followed this tutorial to install SuperCharger and when I install BusyBox (1.19.4) and reboot, my phone gets bricked.
EDIT:
I have GingerDX v30 and stock kernel.
It seems that Busybox above v1.15.3 bricks the phone when you have stock kernel.

You cant update busybox while you are on a custom rom.

use the busybox zip provided in the supercharger thread

Lots of missinformation about updating BusyBox while on stock kernel.

If you're using SuperSU, try with Superuser. If you're with Superuser, try SuperSU.

The culprit is not the kernel, but the ROM(s). As I said elsewhere, there's at least one ROM for stock kernel in which updating BusyBox brings no problems: MiniCM6. And, of course, any ROMs using it as base, such as AtiFroyo.

No. It will still cause a bootloop in GingerDX.

really? AtiFroyo did not get bricked?
Because FroyoPro did.
Hmm....
Anyways: STOCK rom does not brick by updating busybox as well....

Busybox NEWER than version 1.15.3 (the version we ship by default with the ROM) does NOT work on Stock Kernel. Simple as that.
Contrary to what you said the culprit is kernel and not rom.
On Alfs you'll be updated to Busybox 1.19.4 once you install the Alfs AddOn, but as said above there's no way to update on Stock kernel - it will simply not work and brick the boot of the ROM.
Believe me, we tried everything.

this is what B.Jay had to say. So now if you know more than B.Jay then tell the OP that there is no problem in updating busybox or else donot pass on wrong info

@CnC-ROCK - Have you read what prezident36 wrote? He's on GingerDX v028 on stock kernel. The zip from the Supercharger thread won't work.
Also, B.Jay is wrong in this particular case. And as elderduke has pointed out, you can update the stock ROM on stock kernel without problems, hence the problem does not lie with the kernel.

Don't quote me on this one, but I'm guessing that the problem stems from the hackdroid base. Both FroyoBread and GingerDX use it... as well as kuyaDROID. And I wouldn't be surprised if GingerCruzt used it also, but I don't remember trying to update BusyBox in it.

Well, I believe you. You probably can't update BusyBox through a market app, I haven't it tried it tho. But you most definitively can using the zip file from the Supercharger thread. As long as you meet the requirements.

[Q] GingerDX - v017

I installed this version recently and I noticed that there is no multitouch! Before this newest version I was using v013 and multitouch was supported.Any idea why there is no multitouch in latest version? Is it supported in v016?
I install multitouch on GingerDX v17 with x8toolbox beta4
I will try it right now. Thanks.
EDIT: It doesn't work... I get to waiting for device and nothing happens.
GDX need his kernel to support MT or install stock kernel addons.

It's not a problem. DX removed the add ons to enable him to put them in his kernel and provided an add ons pack to flash after installing the rom for those of us on stock kernel. The only "problem" is no one bothers to READ...

I think the multitouch module shows something on dmesg in adb shell. But I dont remember whether that was the MDDI module or this multi-touch module. And make sure you used the right module for your digitizer.
I have a little problem with camera apk. The texture (camera view frame) is different than stock gingerbread. I don't know if it is a bug or dx change but it looks terrible. How can i fix that?

Hello,
question:
may be root is not working in this version???
V20l stock, deodexed with root
Titanium Backup or BusyBox found no Root.
I cannot find SuperUser-App in above rom.
Other Ways to Root:
Gingerbreak 1.20 not work.
SuperOneClick 2.1.1 Freeze on my Windows 7 64Bit SP1 OS (may be driver problem, test this evenig a other machine...)

This rom is root. You need to go to Market to download the Super User app manually. I have restored all the apps using Titanium Backup successfully.

If there's really no super user app, just go in the 'Root Gingerbread for dummies' thread below, and grab the su.zip and flash it from CWM and you're done.

I've wiped everything.
Any suggestion?

[Q] What am I doing wrong when I'm installing rom?

Hi!

GingerDX v014 and up is installed with CWM recovery, not xRecovery. Install CWM with a toolbox (just search "toolbox" in the Development section) and then install GDX again.
Or you can just install GDX v013 and then install the new one as CWM comes preinstalled.
EDIT: Oops, in the vid you install it with CWM. Try re-downloading it. Maybe the file is corrupted.

It's is highly advisable to be on stock ROM. Just flash it via PCC/SEUS. Why this is required , I don't know. But always people recommend unlocking on stock ROM. I too would therefore recommend the same. Get back to stock ROM
Don't risk it by unlocking on GDx v025
What he means that the kernel is meant for ICS ROMS only and is NOT meant for GB or stock ROMS
Another thing
So...
1) Flash Stock Rom using SEUS (will this be the one with the latest baseband and will my phone still be rooted?)
2) Unlock Bootloader while on Stock Rom (as stated here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436957)
3) Flash ICS kernel while on Stock Rom (as stated here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24304432)
4) Flash MiniCM9 (as stated here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1575094)
Am i right?
Also, is it necessary to install all to Google Apps which nAa has provided a link to?
And where does the currently rooted state of my phone lie in all of this?
Thanks

Not sure about SEUS , but if you use PCC , your phone gets unrooted.
I guess both ways, you have to root again. But that's not a cumbersome task. Just use superoneclick and then place xrecovery files in /system/bin
Just make sure that after flashing the kernel , you flash the ROM directly after it. If you reboot your phone after flashing the kernel , you will encounter a soft brick.
It is not necessary , but recommended. I would suggest that you flash Gapps (Google Apps) , and then manually remove the applications you do not want by using apps like "Root Uninstaller" from the Play Store.
I did not understand your last question.
I am 99.999% sure of what all I told you is correct. However , since I have a locked bootloader , I might have missed somewhere (I'm sure I have not though)
I unlocked my 11w18 with GDX , no problems

[Q] Video lag and freeze

Hello .. i have a problem ..
My mobile on JB 4.1.2 official but playing videos hang and freeze the device why is that with dual-core processor
*1* I use MXPlayer and tried MoboPlayer too .. both hang !!
*2* when I bought it at first run it updated itself to JB 4.1.2 and after done ... some crash at Gapps .. I Deleted cache and updated them and now all fine...
anything wrong with me !!
Thanks in advance.
It's a problem depending on the firmware that you use
For example, while this doesn't happen on lpd, on lqg is annoying
Even though I'm not a super fan of cocore, I have to agree that, when you install cocore, independent of the firmware you're using this lag will stop
Or go to cm10.1...
So if its firmware error .. CoCore need time to understand it .. I'm new here with S advance and its devs. so I have to wait for other solution

Install universal kernel flasher from play store
Download any of the cocore kernel (if you're I9070p then its cocore ep) (recommended latest nightly v7.6)
