Hi all,
After upgrading my phone to JB I am experiencing only one issue, for the rest it is running fine! The e-mail app worked for a day or so, then it needed to apply the security settings, so it said. This failed with a crash of the settings app. Removed the exchange account, and added it back same problem. This is what happens:
1. Set up account details.
2. Device prompts that security settings should be applied, I click OK.
3. Settings screen appears in black and then crashes: "Settings has stopped".
4. The e-mail app then repeatedly asks for application of the security settings.
- The e-mail app does not show up as a device administrator.
- Tried clearing the cache of the e-mail app and exchange service.
- Tried setting the account from the e-mail app and settings app.
- Did NOT try a hard reset, I would like to keep this as a final solution.
Couple of questions:
- Does somebody else have this problem?
- Is there a way to manually make a program a device administrator?

Thanks, but the device should be rooted then. Is it possible to root the phone with the new firmware already?

Rooted it. (Thnx rajman) Sadly the app reset of both Email and Exchange Services did not fix the problem. Any onther ideas?
I've been running Moxier over the past few days without any issues. I think that the device administrator database is corrupted and that this causes the settings crash. Is there any way to reset this database/file?
I figured it out. The things I do not to have to reinstall...
I tried installing the stock JB mail and Exchange service with ES Explorer. No go, but in stead of services this time email stops.
Removed the original mail and Exchange app and service. No go, same as above.
Removed stock JB stuff and restored the original system APK's, reboot and whaddayaknow: it asks if it should make the app Device admin. Works!
I left Moxier on the phone just in case...

thnx mate, problem solved
First of all tnx for taking the trouble to reply. Unfortunatly my problem is not solved yet.
The dbdata directory you mentioned is empty (or ASTRO doesn't show them).
Would this procedure. remove all my calender entries?
one step closer?
Ok I managed to enter de dbdata directory after getting Root Explorer.
I followed the procedure Adevem described.
Didn't dare to do this with my calender though. Is it safe or will I loose all my entries as well?

Just backup your calendar with Titanium Backup or sync it with your google account before deleting the folder.
Great. That worked.
Can I use Titanium to backup my panel settings? Can,t find the file I need to backup
I was running nightly 150 and updated to nightly 166 using Rom Manager. I chose the option to wipe Dalvik cache. When I rebooted, and tried to launch the market, it would give a message saying I had to add an account. I would go to the accounts menu in settings and there would only be options for corporate and YAHOO accounts, but no option to add a Google account!! I don't recall there being a Yahoo option previously, and there was always a Google option. You need a Google account for the market, don't you? Anybody else experience this and any ideas? Also, when I tried to open g-mail, it just immediately forced closed.
Go back into rom manager and reflash gapps. This should restore the access to google apps.

Hi, I got a strange Problem with my mobile
whenever I add a google account, in the Account Sync settings I am unable to check/uncheck the options. Those are all checked by default
Does any one have the same problem or can some one suggest if there is any app which can change the settings?
Is this a custom rom?

No.. I am on V10H stock ROM, rooted
OK.. This is what I have done. Since it did not work, I continued and after the setup completed I could see picasa albums in my gallery. In order to remove this I went to settings, Accounts and sync and unchecked the sync settings for picasa. But still I am able to see images in gallery. Next step, I went to settings-> Apps -> All -> Gallery -> clear cache and clear data
Problem resolved

This small tutorial is to get rid of the error android.process.acore which comes again and again on screen and bothers alot!!
For the People who are encountering this error just follow the below steps.
This error usually occurs because you might have forgot to WIPE when installing a NEW ROM. So to avoid that always wipe when the ROM provider has stated so.
There are also other causes which result this error. So try the following methods:
1. Try uninstalling Facebook if that is installed. If this does not fix your problem then try the following.
Do you have your contacts backed up?
2. Settings>Applications>System Applications>Contacts Sync Adapter and press Clear Data, this error usually goes away. If this doesn't work, try clearing the data on Settings>Applications>System Applications>Contacts or Settings>Applications>System Applications>Contacts Storage.
If problem is fixed, then restore contacts and reinstall Facebook and make sure you don't sync contacts with it.
3. Third and Final solution for me which I really dont like but has worked with me
Boot into Recovery than
1. WIPE DATA
2. WIPE CACHE PARTITION
3. MOUNTS & STORAGE > FORMAT SYSTEM
4.FLASH THE ROM
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. HAS WORKED FOR ME..... PEACE!!

This reminds me that I recently noticed that "Contact Groups" were not properly sync'ed between Google Contacts and the Contacts on my phone. I went into Contacts on my phone and checked "Sync Data". Is that supposed to stay unchecked?
Of course, the Contacts app crashes before I can un-check the box, so I don't know how to fix that now.

Clearing Data for Contact storage worked for me, thanks!
Third step seems to have woked
I did the first 2 with not results the third seems to have worked. My samsung VZW i800 is working quite well now thank you. I have CM11.0 terrenceng... granted I still get the error "unfortunately gmail has stopped" and I'm working on that issue. In the meantime I'm using the email app to handle my Gmail. Thanks again.
I tried deleting Facebook, which worked for several days, but now the Acore Error back with a vengeance !!! I do not have the same hierarchy as listed below, so I cannot use the Method #2. I've already tried Method #3, but obviously that did not work. Oh well ..... so much for upgrading to Buggy KitKat ....
At least I'm getting a new phone tomorrow .... Hopefully it will be more stable, and if I'm lucky might even have JellyBean!!! I had NO problems with JellyBean for over three months. Big mistake upgrading to KitKat 4.4.2.

anyone using this room with skype experienced any problem?
using the latest skype, when try signing out, system will show "android.process.acore" after click ok, message pops up right away. Reboot won't help either. Only way getting rid of message is to clear the contact storage.
Fix the android.process.acore
I had this problem after removing a Google account from my phone that did contacts sync. During the removal, my phone crashed (nice job guys) and it clearly corrupted something..
I DID NOT NEED TO RESET MY PHONE TO FACTORY SETTINGS OR RE-FLASH ANY FIRMWARE, ETC
IMPORTANT: PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING PROCESS WILL DELETE ALL LOCALLY STORED CONTACTS FROM YOUR PHONE. BUT DON'T WORRY, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO RESTORE ANY CONTACTS THAT YOU REMOTELY SYNCED WITH AN ACCOUNT (SUCH AS A GOOGLE ACCOUNT).
I fixed my phone by going to:
1. Setting > Application Manager
2. Slide over to the "ALL" tab
3. Select the "Contacts Storage" application
4. Click the "Turn Off" button
5. Click the "Force Stop" button
6. Click the "Clear Cache" button
7. Click the "Clear Data" button
8. Uncheck the "Show Notifications" option
9. Click the "Turn On" button
This should immediately resolve your issue.
IF YOU PREVIOUSLY DISABLED CONTACTS SYNCING FOR ANY OF YOUR "ACCOUNTS", YOU SHOULD RE-ENABLE IT NOW TO GET YOUR CONTACTS BACK ON YOUR PHONE.
If you're using the Facebook app (com.facebook.katana) , especially the "dev" version, try freezing/disabling, then clearing data and cache in it, seems FB doesn't do much contacts sanitizing....

The best way to resolve this issue is
- Turn Off Sync
- Remove Your Google account account from your device
-Add your google account again

BOOM you are done now

the second solution which is clearing the ''contacts storage'' data fixed it but the problem occurred when i uninstalled facebook actually it happened to me on my other phone ( ''Galaxy Note II'' to be exact ) just by logging out of my account in the facebook app so i had to factory reset the phone
i wonder why ? all my devices have official roms with no root
anyway thanks
I get this problem "Unforunately,android.process.acore has stopped".
I have stock rom. I have Xposed framework installed,is that the source of the problem?
Thanx in advance for helping me.
My device:Samsung Galaxy S Duos2
I used to get that error message many times. With my first Note 3, it finally got so bad that I could not use my Note 3 anymore. Samsung sent me a replacement Note 3, which I still have. I started getting that error again on my second Note 3. Had to do a Factory Reset, which seemed to fix the issue. However, now I'm getting a new error message that just started when I upgraded to Lollipop 5.0 >>> Touch Wiz suddenly quits. After about 15-20 seconds starts up again.
Hey all! If none of the above solutions are working for you (like in my case), then please try this solution I found that worked for me:
1. Uninstall the app that is causing the popups (this could be Facebook, OneNote, WhatsApp, Skype, etc...).
2. Disable Goolge+.
3. Reinstall app that was causing the popups (sign in, get it going).
4. Re-enable Google+ (I actually haven't cause I don't use it, but that's up to you).
It looks like 5.1 fix this, so hang in there!
I just got the Lollipop 5.0 Update for my Note 3 about a week ago. So far, seems to be running ok. I have a list of 11 issues with Lollipop, one which a Samsung Tech Support lady helped me fix (after many calls to tech support, with no help). Another issue I discovered the solution by myself (by accident), and one more issue I found the answer online after reading many articles, and watching many videos.
I have not seen this issue "android.process.acore" with the Lollipop 5.0 Update. Hoping to get another update to fix the remaining issues (Screenshot, Battery Drain, WiFi, RAM, Bluetooth, TouchWiz).

Yea, I tried everything else in this forum and on the web> Facebook uninstall, stop all contacts, calendar, google play related apps and clear data, delete google account, etc...
Have now cleared and uninstalled Skype, Airdroid, and mightytext since it seems to be a Google Contacts syncing issue. This still hasn\t helped. Will keep you all posted if I find the culprit.
I setup a fire tablet for a friend by rooting it, and adding google play. Tested the system, and various apps by logging into my personal google account via play. Everything works great, except that I can't figure out a way to log out of my google account on the device before giving it back to my friend.
The issue seems to be that the amazon system doesn't have an "accounts" or "accounts & sync" settings menu like most android devices, where you can remove/delete accounts.
I was able to change my google password, and then wipe the data from the various apps to prevent the device from syncing any further but the issue is that my account is still listed in play/gmail/etc, and there is a 'sign in' notification that won't go away.
Anyone have any thoughts on a work around to fully remove my google account from the device?
Would clearing data for the Google Play services apps do it?
Do you have a google settings app, looks like a cog?
If so, sign in and security, devices and notifications, loads a web page, on recently used devices click review devices, select the Fire, Press remove?
Come to think of it I think you can load the web page on pc if don't have the app, try logging in at
https://myaccount.google.com/u/1/security#activity
On the left select - Device activity & notifications, scroll down and select review devices, select the Fire and press Remove.
Looks like it should do the trick.

I did this as well. It effectively does the same thing as changing your google password. It does not remove the account from the device. It still shows up in all the google programs, and prompts a permanent notification that the account requires attention. I think this process is intended to prompt a device to re-sign in to google without changing the password itself.

If you are on the stock rom like the OP you can't access the menu pjs mentions, the one you can get to via "google settings", "account preferences", "delete your account or services" would do what you fear above.

OK, it sounds like my original post was correct for rooted stock so I'll try to reconstruct it, if not for you, then for others who might need it.
There's no simple way to remove a google account. Basically, you have to delete gapps, either manually or by factory reset, and reinstall.
(EDIT: Reinstalling over current Gapps - Didn't think to mention this as an option because when I installed new Gapps over old I had major problems with google apps crashing and had to factory reset anyway. That was over a year ago with earlier Gapps version, though. Maybe it could magically work now?)
Factory Reset: I think this is easiest. Do the reset and then install Gapps again. Your apps and data will be deleted, but root survives. If you flashed the SuperSU zip, the app installed to /system so you won't have to reinstall it. Same with your launcher if you moved that to /system. (If you didn't flash SuperSU zip, you'll need to reinstall the app after resetting.)
Disable your launcher and enable the Fire launcher before resetting. The state of system apps disabled/enabled with the "adb shell pm" command doesn't change with the reset. (I've confirmed this several times with gatesjunior's Debloater tool. Still, I always keep wifi off during a reset and disable OTA again afterwards.)
Manually: You must uninstall (at least) play store, play services, gmail, google accounts and google setup. Use Titanium Backup to search for all things "google" and see if there's anything else that sounds account-related. Make a list of what you're getting rid of, back them up and uninstall. Then get new apks from some place like apkMirror.
This worked perfect:
Manually: You must uninstall (at least) play store, play services, gmail, google accounts and google setup. Use Titanium Backup to search for all things "google" and see if there's anything else that sounds account-related. Make a list of what you're getting rid of, back them up and uninstall. I then re-ran the Amazon-Fire-5th-Gen-SuperTool and option 2 and the account is now gone.

Not sure. I wrote this for rooted stock. Guess it depends on how you installed it and whether or not you can get to any core components. Maybe someone else will have an idea.
