Good, useful thread
You can add in these in the ICS+ section:
- Raum's 4.2.1
- Remics rom by weeo
Also add MetaIIica's name to ics+ devs since he is also a dev of PACman ROM.
It would also be good if you can separate ICS and JB roms into sub-categories of "stock ICS" and all "JB" ROMs because there are also tons of CM9 roms, which may not be needed to be added.
Cheers
hello and thanks for this thread
it can also be helpful if you add some small symbol in front of or after rom name to denote which bootloader it is for. like asterisk (*) for new bootloader and hyphen (-) for old bootloader or something like that. can be useful for new users to quickly figure out the bootloader and wont occupy much space either. thanks

I reported this thread and asked a mod to sticky the one you linked here instead.
nicholaschw got banned because he spammed nearly every section with his stupid kernels.

There are 2 bootloader/partition layouts present for the LG P990 (Optimus 2X).
1. Older Froyo/GB

Here are the following ways to change partition/bootloader.
1. All-In-One P990-Toolkit
To change to and from the 2 partition/bootloader. EASIEST OPTION.
2. NVFlash toolkit
For changing your partition to Stock ICS format. Or reverting back to GB/Froyo format with CMW preinstalled.
3. Full Brick Repair with CM10

hi
its already their look @ no 9
I want clean Vanila 2.2 or 2.3 ROM.
Hi All
Please do forgive me if I come across as being stupid but I only got my LG 2X today and I want to flash a clean 2.2 or even better a 2.3 Vanila ROM.
But I'm very confused as to exactly what I need to do. I understand that I need to root first but dont even know where to root from.
Would someone be kind enough to maybe put together a step by step guide on how to root and then install a ROM please? Or maybe just provide links to each step in the correct order?
I'm sure other users would also find it useful.
I've been using the device for a few hours now and have updated to the latest V10D via LG's software update and have not yet experienced any random reboots etc except for only ONE reboot when I tried to install Swype but that was before the V10D update.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out here. Cheers.
Root:
I used this guide: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=LG_Optimus_2X:_Rooting
Recovery:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=LG_Optimus_2X:_Recovery_and_CyanogenMod
Flash:
With ClockworkMod Recovery you now can boot into recovery (power+vol down)
Here you wipe data and wipe partition and after that you click "flash ROM from SD-card" or something like that, find the ROM on your SD-card and hit it.
Wohoo!
Definitely the best and easiest way to root is this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765

i think you should add this to the first post
Could someone please add a note to the first section (or anywhere else they feel it may help) to advise Canadian users? Here in Canada, Wind lists their LG as an Optimus 2X but it is actually a P999. A note pointing them to the P999/T-Mobile forums would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Is it possible to get a review system going for the roms and patches, so we may get a gauge of battery life, stability and those sorts of things for the different roms, etc?
Sort of like done here;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=668090
But maybe working off a user review system?....Trying to think of a way to make it fairly accurate, but not involve one poor person running one rom after another over and over to write a review.

I would like this as well. I am looking at flashing a rom with good battery life. There is no direct way of finding out how the battery peformance is in these roms. Everyone always talks about the overclock I just want stable with 2 days battery.
I have got good battery experience with Slick2X ROMs for both Froyo and Gingerbread. I got around 3 days or 1% per hour in sleep mode.
Gingerbread -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061532
Problems: Slow GPS fix.
Froyo -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076454
Problems: Well, it is froyo, does not utilize dual-core fully.
Current I use Pauls rooted stock gingerbread ROM, which gives around 2 days between charges.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1328656
Problems: none found yet.
Can everyone please vote, for the ROM or kernel you're using, 1 to 5 in five categories. Stability, Speed, Battery Life, Appearance, Daily use. And i'll compile them and put it on the second post. thank you.
I will update this thread weekly.

For new Dev's wondering how to format their Rom thread titles here is what Some xda device forums have mandated
IF YOU ARE RELEASING A ROM YOUR THREAD TITLE SHOULD BE AS FOLLOWS:
[ROM][DATE] <NAME OF ROM>[Version][KERNEL]
•[ROM] of course meaning that your release is a ROM
• The [DATE] must be in the [Month.Day.Year] form. Example: [FEB.5.11]
• The <NAME OF ROM> is of course whatever your ROM is called. BE SPECIFIC.
• [Version] is the version of both YOUR ROM and the BUILD OF ANDROID. Again, BE SPECIFIC.
•The [KERNEL] tag is of course what Kernel your ROM uses. BE SPECIFIC.
•The [DEVICE VARIANT] tag is to denote what type of Sensation your ROM is for. IE-[TMOUSA], [EUR], [ASIA], [ALL] etc.
An example title is as follows:
[ROM][FEB.5.2011]DESIRE HD MaXXX! 1.0 | Working Camera![v1.0 2.2.1] [MDJ S10.4][TMOUSA]

thank you fixed! once more roms come (i believe they truly will, once this phone drops in price and becomes more popular already free on contract in Canada)
when there are more ICS roms i will separate ASOP/no Sense ICS between ICS with sense
Hello,
I've followed a few steps, went to the dev website and unlocked the boot loader. then i used hasoons tool clicked cwm5.5.0.4 for the recovery then i clicked holicakes 2.6.35.14
then i clicked permroot and it went into the waiting for device moment.
i followed the guide for the superonce click and opened that, clicked root. it did a heap of stuff then said it was complete and if i wanted to test it, but i didnt.
getting right to the problem, my wifi says error and i cant turn it on. even tried restarting. where should i head from here? would it be my kernal? maybe i should just unroot and wait for ics to come out? any suggestions would be great. good suggestions obviously!
EDIT
im sure its rooted as i installed clockworkmod and then it asked for superuser access when i clicked on download roms. but the wifi is still not working.

If you want to fix your wifi and keep the modded kernel (I probably would since it has better performance and possibly battery life), all you have to do is use a file explorer and copy the bcm4330.ko (file that came inside the kernel folder that you've downloaded) to /system/lib/modules and your wifi will work as it should again.
Im using es file explorer and in /sdcard can't see the system folder though?
Just found it. Had to enable "go back to root"
I tried to paste the file but the original can't be removed or overwritten any ideas?
Sent from my HTC Velocity 4G using xda premium
Still trying to fix my WiFi issue. I've tried to flash a kernel but can't find the right one. I've tried to swap the file in the module folder but the phone won't let me. I'd like to stick to the holicakes kernel just want the WiFi fixed then ill wait for the ota ics
Sent from my HTC Velocity 4G using xda premi
Just solved that issue. I used Root Explorer, gave it SU permissions, and then went into "030312_flash_boot_nC.rar" (or whichever kernel you're using), extracted bcm4330.ko with a longpress, and then clicked "Go to folder" (had to do this twice actually, first time it didn't seem to show up. Or maybe I was just impatient ). After it shows up in the folder you extracted it to, long press on it and hit move, then navigate to the /system/lib/modules folder and paste, replacing the old one. Works right away!

Nvm, i installed htc sync, was the easiest way. now i need to get past the next broken step of why the ruu wont install.
Hey man, are there any stock rooted Raider ROMS or any built off stock Raider ICS? I have a guy that is stuck in bootloader, S-ON, stock ICS kernel but a different ROM. He can't connect to a computer. I'm thinking if we can get a stock rooted Raider ROM to match the kernel then it might work. He can't RUU or PH zip because of the unlocked bootloader.

By the way this is deodexed for you to install your preferred MODS, but I added the ODEX ME app for you to re-odex the system apps for faster response, you'll much feel the Linaro optimization once you re-odex the rom. I'll post the instructions once it's uploaded.
