[Q] Just got my HD7 and have a few questions.

Ok, been playing with the phone and there are some things I been wondering about which could be more WP7 questions rather than HD7 ones.
1) Can you set the phone to vibrate when you touch the screen like haptic feedback? I don't need this for myself, a friend just asked.
2) In txt/sms, is it possible to change the color of your messages in a conversation? at the moment both mine and the person I'm talking to is in blue and it would be nice if I can change mine to say green.
3) For things like facebook, email etc, is there a way to see how often it checks for new stuff?

1 - I believe so, in the sounds menu.
2 - Not at this time. Maybe in a future update
3 - For email you can set to desired interval in email settings.

I believe facebook only updates when you access it, eg when you go to the news feed in the People Hub, it updates then.

In the facebook app, you can check under settings and enable to shake to refresh. Just like the Zune when you shake it refreshes.

I was looking for something more like anything I say is one colour and a person's reply is a different colour.

I think it does refresh itself because if my wife posts on her facebook, it shows up on her live tile.
Though I can't find any settings to adjust it.

Has any got the new HTC Hub that shows the wheather? if so is suppose update itself?

My works fine here.
You can put in settings the frequency of update that you want
You must have Data Connection always ON in order to make the automatic updates

well my partner has the same phoen and it doesn't update by itself...is anyone else experinicing this issue

well i waited an 1hr and nothing the live tile isn't so live??!? ...

Just wait. It will update itself. Patience, my young Padewan.

mine didn't update the first time until it had been left on over night, patience is key as it works a charm now.

Ok I was having problem with the tile not updating and found this solutions
Once you open the Htc hub go to Settings> UNCHECK update when opened and that was it.
also you might wanna do the download data automatically for every hour if you want updated weather on the go

You need to resave your settings after the update for the tile to save the changes I believe...

The live tile does NOT update your location automatically. It continues to update the tile with the weather conditions for the location that was most recently detected when the hub app was open.

same happen to mine

I never managed to get the live weather animation on the tile ... I've been using 1.5 for days, and the tile's image is always static

i think they need to update it again to fix bugs..because if you change locations it doesn't update the tile it only updates the wheather with the last location when the hub was open and it doesn't always update it is flakey as i know 2 other people have the same problem...

Yes, I confirm the location issue. The Hub only updates the weather but not the location.
I can see my HTC tile changing from Sun to Moon appropriately, but my city/town does not get changed until I actually launch the weather.

All my HTC apps (6) updated yesterday after going into Marketplace and the weather tile is working fine now. Phones only a couple of days old.

There is an issue on the live tile on some phones that seems to happen, this happened on mine; However i reflashed with one of ansars later O2 UK roms and the live tile works perfect now for HTC Hub.

Flux - Google Reader

I found this app on the Market for anyone that came from or is coming from Android. It's probably the best Google reader app.
Syncs and everything!
Has anyone downloaded or bought the app? What does the paid version do?

I'm throttled on my HTC Radar (T-Mobile slowed down my Internet) and the app still downloads e articles pretty quick. I love it.

What is the diff between The trail and full version ?

With paid version you get:
Multiple Live Tiles, you can pin any feed/folder to start
Full image caching, with Trial version the caching is limited to images of the newest 25 articles per sync
Option to change font size in article-reading

I'm using omnia 7 and works fine, I like it Very useful, also in the trial version

I downloaded NextGen, and I guess it's all about tastes.
I found Flux satisfies me more.

Under *misc are grouped all the subscriptions that don't belong to any folders.

It seems you have issues with Google Account 2 Way authentication System. The trail version also does not work. It keeps on fetching feed with zero result.

Unfortunately we're using the Google ClientLogin Authentication, which doesn't support 2-step verification.
We'd need to adopt OAuth, maybe we'll add in a future release.

images not working
Hi edonistart.
I have downloaded your app Flux today as it look like a great google reader app. Their is one problem I can't get the images working on the tile view for articles or on my live tiles. How do I set this up in the settings?

Go to settings and check these settings:
caching tab
- Cache images: wi-fi only (or always if you're not on a wi-fi)
- When not cached, download images: always
live tiles tab
Show image of newest unread: Yes
For the images to be shown, the article must have at least one image in the "preview" (the html got by the feed).

I find the new design to be frustrating indeed. Don't see the point of removing the month view.

Tapping on the month name, will reveal a full calendar..

There's a Month view.

Swipe left, right to see the following month or previous.

The old calendar had a month view with your actual appointments displayed on it this new one just tells you the dates and then I have to remember which day to select it to see it. The old one i could see straight away what i had going on all month.
I dont understand how stupid people who change these things are what goes through their head? You are meant to add features not take them all away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the best calendar widget hands down. I have it on my phone and it's the only one that I've used for a long time.

I also think they messed up with the calendar. They need to bring back that original 30 day default view with those colored lines for different events. The 5 day view is cluttered, unreadable and difficult to navigate. I like the material design but it's not complete. I sent Google a feedback and the research team contacted me about it. They sent me some additional survey about the new calendar where i expressed what what was good and bad about it. Hopefully fix is on the way.
P.S. I encourage others to send your feedback to Google.
Open calendar - Open that side menu/hamburger menu - all the way on the bottom you will see "help & feedback"

When month view is as useless as this, yes.

They've gone for aesthetics rather than functionality. I like it too.

Need some suggestions from you guys.

I am getting this tablet ready to send off to SO's mom for Christmas. I want to make a guide book of sorts to help her use the tablet. I'v rooted it, put nova launcher and gotten rid of lock screen ads. As well as put the google play store on it.
What should I include in the guide?
So far its how to turn the device on/off, and thats basically it :/ I just can't get my self in the head of a non-tech savy elderly individual.

Did you block OTA updates or it might undo all that you've done at some point?
A quick line on what all of the apps on it atm are for maybe.
How to buy a book, show, app
What the various icons in the status bar, notification panel mean
How to change the notification sounds and possibly font size.
Could put some bookmarks in the browser for sites you think she'd want

Do you mean actually background running or the recent apps on the square button carousel?
If the latter I don't think it's significant, if you look in running apps and cached processes on android though you'll see the older ones that most of them aren't in either anyway. Some of those processes in settings just restart as well.

Does it not slow the tablet down if every app is in it?
