Hi All,
I have noticed when playing games the touch key light glows all the time hence it might also be uselessly contributing towards more battery use and processor heating.
If there is any app which can toggle key light on/off or anyway other way to dim its light then may be battery backup can improves a bit
I have noticed there is an app in play store for Optimus 2X but that doesnt work for my 4X P880.
You can disable it under settings > screensettings

Hello guys, i have a serius issue with my Optimus 2x.
I wanted to disable the led buttons brightness so i found the "LG 2X/Black/3D Notifications" app to disable the led lights (i set up the brightness to 0), but what i realized was is that it drains a lot of battery, A LOT!!! (29%) after 4 days of usage.
So i wanna ask you if you know any mod that i could flash on my rom to disable the led buttons light....
(My rom is CyanogenMod-7 - NIGHLTIES)
Thanks in advance
I think the app your are using, other than being able to adjust led brightness, it also listens to notifications, which is actually its main feature. And this feature is what actually draining your battery.
Try this app called: touch key lights, this app is solely to adjust led brightness.
Cheers.
Wow great hope that will work, thanks man, cheers ;D
when i updates CM9 4.0.4 BCM for my Nexus One, the capacitive buttons (as back, menu, home, search) not light up when I am in a dim room. I can force them on my covering the brightness sensor. My Inspire would light up whenever I hit a button. Is there maybe a setting I am missing to turn the feature on?
Do you help me?!
Thanks.
You can tweak brightness levels on CM9. This includes the button lights being on /off - value of 255=on, any other value = off.
Think it's Display >. Automatic back light > Use custom > Edit other levels.
You will then see a table of values with a Button column on the right hand side. Set this to 255 or 0 as needed.
Of course you need to have Automatic Brightness switched on in the first instance for this to work.

i work it with your guide. but it not ligh.
Do you give me specific instructions?
i'm ok!
thank you very much!
No problem.
You can also use the app Screen Filter. With this app you can dim your screen to different levels. However it also has an option to set the button lights on/off, so you could also use that without requiring Automatic Brightness.
So you could create a Screen Filter Widget at say 96% brightness and button light on, and another similar one with button light off. Try it out anyhow.
Hope that makes sense, and good luck

Hi, I've just got the s3 mini and it looks as if it has no notification leds.
So there is no visible way of knowing things unless you open your phone display.
Is this correct, my phone isn't broken is it?
If this is the case the its lacking a very fundamental feature
man, i hope that is not true..i heard rumors.
SIII mini has no led.
notification led
It's true. The galaxy s III mini doesn't have a notification LED. I've got this phone since 10 days now.
i can confirm too, by the way it's a great phone !
it has no LED but the manual explains how to turn it on and off (manual says go to settings => display => notification LEDs).
the only thing is that there is no such menu in the settings of the device, which is weird to say the least...
let's hope an system update or custom rom will correct that.

I don't see anything on my device and the german manual says nothing about a notification LED. We also tested it with a app called "blink", the galaxy s III shows the LED, the galaxy s III mini doesn't...

No, it does not have a notification LED and there's no entry for it in the Settings -> Display menu.
You've got your manuals mixed up, since in mine no such thing is mentioned.
I'm using noLED app, which has a bunch of options and notifies me.

i'm speaking about official manual app that is in the app list. it is the same for everyone.
Oh, I didn't even open that... Yeah, seems to be a problem with it, since it presents a manual for the options present on the S III.
If you want the manual for the S III Mini, then you can download it here.
would this mean that samsung has issued a device with a manual and that this manual is about another device than the one it is supposed to serve?
So the consensus now is that it does not have a physical notification led or that it is disabled in software or something?

Definitely no LED notification light on S3 mini. You do have vibrate on pick up setting for notifications.
Hm, real shame, I was planning to get this phone as it looks to be the top android performer with 4" display (optionally xperia p, but that phone is hard to spot in my country + non-removable, weak battery & no memory card). How can something like this be omitted on today's phones?!
Dont worry about the led nottifications.. soon as the developer comunity expands im sure someone will relese a kernel with led notifications on the soft keys.(like the original sgs)

Did anyone hear about such soft-keys notifications? It would be really nice if the phone had this kind of visual notifications.
If you go to the s3mini original android development section, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2153107, you can flash this kernel by neldar and follow instructions on first post. I can confirm that notification lights are working...

I used BLN mod, which makes the light of the buttons function as led notifier, but battery will not be your best friend

hi, i was wondering if it's possible to disable the 'back' and 'home' keys' illumination at the bottom of the display next to the htc logo...
it's an option on the GS3, so i thought i'd ask... thanks in advance.
Probably
I would think so, I'd just start looking in the system files and mess with some settings, I'd help, but I have yet to receive my One.
Also, I'm sure someone will eventually do something like that.
are you rooted? I have a way to dim or turn off but you need root

I am rooted and would be interested in this.
Somewhat related note, you wouldn't happen to know how to enable software buttons would you? Adding "qemu.hw.mainkeys=0" to the build.prop does not work for that.
i do not have the phone yet, 4 more weeks til my upgrade eligibility date...
i am on the fence between the s4 and the ONE like many others, but i think i am pretty set on the black ONE :good:

I'm adding a script to my mod pack to dim or turn off the capacitive leds or to do it manually:
adb shell
echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/button-backlight/currents <----to turn off
echo 2 > /sys/class/leds/button-backlight/currents <----to dim
re: software buttons...sorry no
Is there a way to turn off the haptic feedback on the capacitive buttons?

Use kernel tuner from the Play Store you can dim of disable

gotcha, thanks...
Hai guys nothing new here,i thought of sharing an app i found in the play store.. my mini's power button is almost dead, and i couldn't either turn on or turn off the screen using the power key. Then i found this incredible app called "Proximity Screen Off"
What it does?
-> It turn on/off screen with gestures :good:
How it works?
-> it make use of the proximity sensor. There are lot of gestures to select from, swipe once, swipe and hold and so on.
Both Lite and Pro versions are available in the market, give it a try :good:
Note:It drains battery very quickly but with right settings it doesn't drain you battery
Link to the lite version:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.itsme4ucz.screenoff
its better if u use an app like power toggle or screen-off..they use accessibility permissions and 100% better than sensor based apps since they dont drain battery by taking any sort of wakelock..
just saying

But is it possible to wake up the screen by using power toggle/screen off? My mini is 2 and half years old,and almost all the buttons are dead by now.so i cant wake up the device by pressing the home key. Thats one of the reason i am using this app. Can you suggest me any other app which can wake up the device without using any buttons?
