Fix to Get Rid of the MMS Notification in your Call Logs
Apologies about the brief post earlier today, was at work and a bit of a hurry. Here is a more detailed method.
This was created from the JS5, i9000 source, but has been confirmed to also work on JS7 and KB1.
This will not remove exisiting notifications, but will stop new ones from popping up.
I do not take credit for the original fix, my source is listed below.
Clockwork Flashable zip file below to apply this fix, the steps are listed because I was asked for the process, but if you just want the mod, just flash the file at the bottom of this post.
This assumes you have knowledge of apkmanager or apktool to decompile the apk's, and notepad++ or another way to compare and edit the smali's. Those are lessons for another thread.
I happened upon this thread this morning over in Vibrant Q&A: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=988929
Which led me here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853177 (Go Hit mammon88's thanks button)
-Grab the LogsProvider.apk from the Epic thread, second one linked, and decompiled using apkmanager.
-Move that file somewhere else, maybe even rename the folder, you won't need it again, and it will be the example folder/files.
-Take the LogsProvider.apk from your rom, and decompile with apkmanager or similar program.
-Inside the decompiled apk, using the one in the apkmanager folder here, not the Example Folder, browse to \smali\com\sec\android\provider\logsprovider, and open the LogsProvider.smali with notepad++ (that what I recommend using)
-Now from you Example Folder, drag the corresponding smali file to notepad++, and it will be in a new tab.
-In notepad++, hit Plugins->Compare->Compare, and the differences in the files are highlighted.
-Recreate the edits in the example to your main file, and save.
-Recompile the apk being sure to delete the classes.dex in the process.
These steps may/will work for comparing and editing other files, but be cautious. I didn't go in blindly and say "Eureka" on the first differences I saw. I compared every smali and xml, being cautious in editing, and got lucky on my first shot. Thankfully this apk only has a handful of smali files, first one I've ever decompiled that had less than 40. If you follow my steps, don't hold me responsible if it doesn't work, especially if you failed to make a backup.
The zip below is flashable via Clockwork Recovery. Backup as always, cause hey, it happens.

Have known that works, but not many have found that setting in the i9000 roms, and quite a few are complaining about the MMS showing up. This zip will fix all that for you.

Don't see how that is possible, it works on mine. Flash the file, it will not erase existing notifications, but new ones will now show up, read the OP please.
Or did you mean checking the boxes didn't work, sorry if I misread ya, got screaming new yorkers in one ear who have no business being in the same room as a computer, let alone being allowed to call a help desk to explain their issues taht they don't understand themselves. Welcome to my 9-5.

Yeah the checking boxes didn't work whereas it did for me last week. I guess some builds it does some it doesn't. Might depend on which dialer/contacts apk. So disregard anything I've said and thanks for posting a fix.

Edited - This might work on your Sweet Honey Port, the firmware versions aren't far off, if anyone tests it lmk and I'll add that info to the OP.
Thanks! just flashed on my phone, on Bionix 1.3.1. I can confirm this fixed the MMS in the call log issue.
Unchecking it worked for me! Downloaded it anyway for future use!
Ohh and running Atriarc v1
Edit: scratch that. It didnt stick. Thanks for the flashable fix!

Thats interesting. I thought that Bionix 1.3.1 was KB1 (Android 2.2) based. Well hell, as long as it works, although be on the lookout for the odd issue or two, as this was sourced from the European i9000 JS5 port, and is all I've tested it on. Thx for the confirmation.

2.3 as in gingerbread? This is for 2.2.1, whole different set of issues.
Thanks, great job!

Care to share what edits you made to make this work? I'd like to try it out myself

yes I wanted to post my steps and source this morning, but was at work and in a bit of a hurry, look for an update to the OP here in a little while, listing source and my steps, its actually really easy, given you're familiar with apkmanager or apktool, and notepadd++

what i deleted on my system/app is, CMWallpaper and on system/media is boot animation, thats all, and you will get more free space

hi, as you all know, big SMS messages are automatically converted to MMS. I am really p.o by this function.
However, I am aware that most custom Roms do have eliminated this function.
As I am on (rooted, with safe kernel) Stock Rom, I am looking for a MOD only for stopping SMS being converted to MMS.
Any idea, if there is a MOD available for this without installing a custom ROM?
TIA for your contributions

Yes, look for modified mms.apk and replace using root explorer. Dont forget to delete mms.odex file. If you cant find standalone. Apk then extract it from some custom rom. Or request some user to upload for you if you dont want to download whole rom for it.

hmm, thx so far. However, I don't understand how a modified MMS apk can do the job. I was thinking I need a MOD for SMS in the first place to prevent SMS from getting converted into MMS.

Hey guys, this is my first post on the forum.
Many people got phone calls on stock ICS, then changed to 4.2.2 and lost it
But while seeking the forum, I GOT IT AT LAST!!
Although, it has a bug, which is when u receive a call and slide the call button, as soon as u press it it says "unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped working", but it might work perfectly on other ROMS
I tested it on Infamous ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2220912
Here it is :
Format System (No data wipe required if ur reflashing same rom)
Install ROM, Gapps, and the file attached
Fix permissions (just incase)
Dont reboot untill u do all of that, as in dont reboot in the middle of the procedure.
There u have it
Please tell me if it worked
EDIT : works perfect on infamous 1.7.2, just extract the zip file, paste all the files in their place, and keep the phone.apk untouched (keep the original phone.apk Cruz it works)
P.S : i really appreciate Khomsn for making the CM10.1 build with phone calls, but that build is REALLY laggy.
Thank you everyone.
P.P.S : u have to flash i9103DXLP2 modem (has to be that number specifically) really important to do, link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40754968&postcount=15 (thanks John Kester )

Consider installing gapps that contains a phone apk after which you flash the phone fix above. Your tab should make calls flawlessly but know that the speaker is set to off by default so you have to activate it when making a call.

this thread should be sticked. nice job well done, bro!
1. Please make backup / rename your "SecMms_Delight_Open.apk" first. Location: system/priv-app/SecMms_Delight_Open
2. Download attached modded "SecMms_Delight_Open.apk"
3. Replace the original apk and change permission to rw-r-r. Location: system/priv-app/SecMms_Delight_Open
4. Reboot, enjoy.
* There will be no setting to turn on/off the screen while receiving SMS. If you want to turn it back on, you need to restore back your original "SecMms_Delight_Open.apk".
* I mod the apk from @edgarf28 XtreStoLite Deo-Mod Edition v2.1. So it should include other mods such as disable SMS -> MMS auto conversion.
* Tested to be okay on my G920F. I'm not sure whether it will be working on other devices or ROM. Feel free to try and report back.
I am very interested in what this does. I have a vague idea based off this description but would like to know more before I root to enjoy this mod.
Thank you!
Maybe screen shot or something.
It looks like it disables the phone to wake up when an sms is received as normally the phone will wake up. Also by default longer SMS such as 3 parts it converts to mms but this one it will stay as sms.

Sir, I don't think any screenshot is needed. The interface is 100% the same as stock messaging app. I just made a small modification to ensure no screen wakeup while receiving SMS. No cosmetic change has been made at all.

I lied. Not csc, although I'm sure it is. I know I saw it somewhere. But this for sure works. Go to /data/data/com.android.mms/shared_prefs/
once in that folder, open up com.android.mms_preferences.xml
scroll down and find
<boolean name="pref_key_backlight" value="true" />
change true to false.
save, and reboot.
Nice cheers will do now

I know that one too. Personally I use that method. I just offering an alternative for some of us who might want to do just copy and paste things.

Hello!
Need your help ))
I did ROM translation for galaxy S6 active by editing "The Chic" theme. And MMS app also. Just include the file values-ru\strigs.xml with Russian language translation into the main theme file. How can I put this mod in the theme?
