I have uploaded the PDF, JPG and PSD of the Skin template I made for this thing
PDF and PSD are in the RAR file.
It is by no means perfect, that is why I included the PSD so you could modify it as you see fit, it more or less fits pretty well as it is however (in my opinion anyways)
It was designed to be a cut from a single piece of whatever protective material you wish to use, just cut along the lines
Sweeeeet
the last revision was quite bad actually, this new one makes for a far better fit.
Nice, this should be handy

You can try GIMP, it's basically a free version of photoshop... wait that sounds like warez, the makers made it free
GIMP is the best way to go if you're looking for freeware. I can vouch for the fact that it isnt warez. Granted, it's not nearly as loaded to the gills with features as photoshop, but for basic stuff like icons and theme editing, it'll mostly get the job done.
paint.net can do a lot of what photoshop can and its free
Gimp is best if you want to work with alpha blending, but the learning curve is steep, otherwise (if your art doesn't have a lot of curves, you do your own pixel art, or you don't mind aliasing) anything above paint will do.
I personally use Krita from the KDE app library. It's a bit more powerful than your standard image editor. I don't really like GIMP much because of some stupid decisions on the part of the programmers that make the program a hard tool to use if you're doing pixel art or just about anything, for example, having to resize layers after you've re-sized the canvas or that damn erase tool, I want an erase tool that erases, not gradually blurrs out, erasing a single pixel is a pain because it'll also diffuse the surrounding pixels. I'm sure there's a way around it, but it's just not intuitive.
My understanding is that paint.net
was written by a guy in college who didn't wanna pay for photoshop 7.
My source..his website.
I think he also mentions something about paint.net being able to take photoshop plug-in. Something I don't think GIMP can do.
I just finished a Digital Photography class using paint.net. Prior to the class my digital editing was all done with MS paint. Transferring to paint.net was not that hard. Remember that ctrl+Z is your best friend in the world.
I tried GIMP before getting paint.net. At the time the learning curve was higher than I was willing to pay attention to.
Both are free. Both are highly suitable as replacements for Photoshop.
My recent go round designing new docks and icons for LP made me realize I was just going off sizes other people were doing, and I had no clue the actual dimensions LP used for both icons and dock sizes. This made it harder to come up with interesting new concept docks/icons.
So i made a small little set of images to get a clear cut look at how LP handles these little enhancements we make. My result is attached down below.
Now this is nice for my phone, but I know (having made quite a few wallpapers for various android devices) there is not just one screen size. Now I don't know if LP uses a fixed size, or if its relative based on screen size.
I sent a message to Federico, and hope he will enlighten me a bit further, but until then I was hoping some of you would download the attached zip, and set the wallpaper, dock bg, and icons to your home screen. Take a screenshot and upload it here! This will give me an idea of how it works and what difference, if any, screen size makes on dimensions.
Unless someone out there has the needed info, then this long post was pointless
TL;DR - Download the zip, set the wall, icon, & dock; screenshot; report back, if you would good sir/madam

Awesome! Thanks for the quick work.
As expected (our phones have same resolution) they match up perfectly. Now we need to get someone with an odd resolution to give it a shot. I can do it on an Aria tonight (mine but my sister uses it).
Keep 'em coming!!
HTC Droid Incredible
I've made quiet a few docks for both dinc, og droid, and droid x and all have worked with a 480x84 demension as far as icons i've heard told that the 74x74 works the best (according to other members on the launcherpro.com forums)

Ahh so the plot thickens. The Icons are down to 60x60, but the dock is the same size. Interesting indeed. I kinda wish LP was open source just so I could figure this out
Thanks for the help

And those are the sizes I started working with. But already we have found that on two devices the icons display at 62x62 and the dock at 480x85 and on one the dock displays correctly at 480x84 but the icons drop down to 60x60.
I'm no java developer, but I know enough to guess its either a set size, or a relative based on certain dimensions. I also hope to talk with Fede about maybe increasing the icon size a bit. I got some interesting designs in mind but would require a bit more flexibility.
And as I said, this is just an experiment to see how in the real world LP works on our devices.
Here is a collection of HD wallpapers I've made for the Xoom. They are sized appropriately to fit the Xoom's wonderfully large screen =) I take no credit for the images themselves, just sizing, and finding @[email protected]
I do however take credit for 2 of the 3rd Birthday walls, I actually did make those.
These images are SUPER high quality, and I hope you like them! I'll try to update the pack as often as I can.
Note: Some of these may be slightly explicit, nothing over the top, and NO nudity =b
Download the wallpaper pack here http://db.tt/oK7M84K
Download the Evangelion pack here http://db.tt/6l6gO3a
Update 1.1 Added Evangelion pack of 23 pictures
They those look pretty good. Thanks! I've been looking for some good wall papers.
thank you! also, sorry for the size being so big, i tried to keep as much of the original resolution as possible!
If anyone likes anime I have a Haruhi wallpaper I made and reformatted to fit the xoom.
I posted this in another thread.

Yea, I noticed a bit of them are slightly explicit...I am guessing those are from hentais lol. Anyway, good work on resizing to fit good.
actually no, nothing is from Hentai. the two groups that are the most explicit are the Ikkitousen ones and the Ladies Vs. Butlers.

My bad, I suppose I just see things in a different way lol, as I only looked at your photo with all the pics BC I'm not sure if I am able to download files on my Xoom so I will have to wait
Thanks for the wallpaper, i'm always on the lookout for high quality wallpapers and i'm both a gamer and an otaku.
no problem! its nice to see some people like them =) makes me feel useful XD
These will go great with my "just pictures" live wallpaper. If you're like me and don't want to choose just one image or don't feel like changing it manually, I'm using the app Just Pictures which also comes with a live wallpaper function. It works just like how windows 7 will cycle through wallpapers.
These are some awesome wallpapers by the way. Thanks for packing them all up nice and neat for us XD
^ awesome! i will definitely try that! also as an added little bonus, im adding to the pack soon i got a lot of great new ones that just need resized and compressed!
just added the new pack, check it out!
Thanks for posting these =]
.99 cents to the first person who builds a mywater live wallpaper and battery stat akin to the one used on the Asus EEE transformer for our TB and other devices.

Looks really cool but I noticed that it indicates there is a battery and performance impact. Perhaps if it didn't take into account the orientation of the phone and slosh around the liquid the impact would be less.
that is pretty SWEET!
id pay for that too
Liquid Battery, while it may not look as good as the one you refer to, can accomplish a similar effect:

I posted in Xda Q&A with the .apk hoping a dev would be able to enhance the live wallpaper. The .apk works but the image is not so clear. WE are close to getting this wallpaper to the Thunderbolt.

I downloaded the apk and de-compiled it.
Keep in mind, I am not a Dev, I am a Graphics Designer.
I changed all of the images made some minor edits to the smali files and the xml files.
I changed the SDK Version and a number of minor things but I can't get it to work properly.
The problem isn't that it is in low resolution, it is not displaying the bubbles or the ice cubes.
I don't really understand why because it displays the water level just fine.
Like I said, I redone all of the bubble images and re-saved them, re-compiled the apk, signed it and installed.
I get the same results no matter what I do...
The ice cubes and the bubbles don't display, you just get a square white box in their place.
I hope someone picks this up, it is pretty cool. When someone that knows what they are doing gets hold of this it is probably something simple.
Sorry I couldn't help more.

I've done the same thing but so far I have got some of the smaller and medium bubbles working. Time to see if I can get the rest up and running. .

That's further than I got, the ice cubes would be a big improvement.
Someone in another thread stated that it looks like a big Styrofoam box, I tend to agree
I would have to agree with you gadget. I would be content with just the ice cubes working without the bubbles. I am excited to see at least some progress here!
I need some resizing done. Specifically for the BAMF roms, but they will benefit all Sense 3.0 roms.
I've attached a zip file full of all the Hub skins. I have also included a properly sized Burgundy skin apk, and a bad one.
What I need is, using the good burgundy skin image sizes as a template, resizing for all the skins in the zip. It is not every image, just some.

Im not a guru but I'll look at them, what time frame you looking at? and any skin preferred first?
Um, no particular time frame. We have burgundy and blue sky ready.
If I was to prefer an order of whats first, it would be music lover and spaceship earth.
If I knew anything about any if this I would help, brought to you by a pointless post,

Gadget,

The answer to your question is...
Yes and No.
The images have to be resized individually, but if you really know Photoshop you can create actions to automate the tasks that are identical.
das BAMF 3.0
I'm slowly learning photoshop, so nice to know this is possible. Thank you.
