I apologize if I this is in wrong section...I'm new here.
I have a N7000 that had a broken screen.I bought a new screen (whole assembly:screen, frame, pen sensor)....When phone is turned on menu and back buttons light up,and judging by the sounds phone boots up.Battery can be charged normally (phone heats up normally),PC see's it as mass storage device (can't connect to Kies, but I see it's a common issue),I can browse through phones folders on PC etc....problem is that I still don't have any picture on screen, nothing happens (black screen)....buttons work, screen reacts to touch (buttons light up when screen is touched)....but no image.
Also, when I disassembled the phone,I saw that some bright guy (previous owner?) had pulled (broken) flat cable from the main camera....so camera is disconnected.
What could be causing this screen issue?Could it be that I got a faulty screen (considering my luck lately,I wouldn't be surprised)? If it is a motherboard issue, would the phone work at all?

Dear Friends:
I had today a very strange problem with my xperia. I did not drop it nor it was exposed to water.
when i turn on the device i get this white halo in the middle of the screen that goes to the corners of the screen. the screen looks washed out.
never had this problem before.
please advise.
Sincerely,
If you only see patches of light around the edges and in the middle on a black background, all it is is a bit of screen bleed, its normal and most x1s are like it. The reason is the X1 has a very strong backlight, if I turn my X1 up to full brightness it hurts my eyes and I find it difficult to look at, when your using the phone normally you dont see it, only when you turn it on, when there is no image.
Xperia screen display problem.
Hi Folks,
I can see lines on my xperia ,the phone has autoadjust backlight set as of now.
When i boot up the phone i thin lines on the screen.
Please advice if its a problem with the display or any other issue.
Cheers
JJ
I experienced exactly the same problem today.
When I connected the phone to my computer, the whole screen went white.
(This was the first time I connected the phone to this particular computer.)
Then I had an incoming call, i unplugged the USB-Cable (SE Original) and took the call - which lasted maybe 10-15 minutes - when I disconnected the call the phone returned to the default today-screen, but there was now a "halo", "ring" around the screen. (See attachment.)
Immediately performed a backup and Hard Reset, but the problem persisted.
So I thought it might be heat-related, so I let the phone be, and half-an-hour later the halo had vanished.
Specs:
Xperia X1i, Swedish.
ROM-version: 1.02.936.3
ROM-date: 08/29/08
Radio: 1.06.25.29
Computer:
MB: Gigabyte EP45-DS3
CPU: Q9450
OS: Windows 7 x64.
Google: Xperia screen white halo ring overheat
I turned my backlight to max and it did not at all look like that.
Send to repair..
Yeah, that's the thing, now it's back to normal I can't make it appear again, not by turning the backlight to max, not by plugging in the cable and taking a call like the last time.
Though I once had a TFT overheat on me, don't ask, I believe it looked similar.
That too returned to normal after about an hour.
So, I guess that's the solution - Don't panic, just wait a couple of minutes.
the ssame thing is happening to me. it gets worse when i receive a call and i would have to turn the screen off and on to return to normal
Hey, Last night I was texting with my phone. I closed the keyboard, and the screen didn't flip to portrait mode. I opened it and closed it again and it remained frozen. Then it dimmed, and the screen was consumed by red green blue and white lines. I did a soft reset and the phone turned on, but only a dim light emanated from the screen, no picture whatsoever. The phone did boot completely, I heard a text message come in, pressing buttons made the appropriate tone. I used no custom roms, nor did I get it wet.
Does this sound like a manufacturer defect? Is there a history of this happening?

It sounds like what happens when there is a connection problem between the lcd and the motherboard. If your mobile has warranty, then bring it in. The connections are a press fit type thing, and in my opinion very poor engineering. If you have nothing to lose, then find the dissassembly videos and make sure the connections are being made. Do a search for the "Microp Error". At least I think that is what it is called.
There are some hints there, I believe.
for starters it sounds like you have a pro, not a diamond.
the pro has a problem with chafing of the ribbon cable as it passes through the slider mech.
the cable conductors become exposed and short across the screen mount plate causing the display to lose colors or go blank.
Hello Everyone!
So i'm really stuck over here. I have an international Samsung Galaxy Note N-7000 that is working but with a black screen!
First of all i want to discuss exactly what i have done:
1.i had a problem with the charging port where it works sometimes and most of the times doesn't. So i decided to order a new charging port to replace the existing one.
2. When i received the new charging port i instantly started to dissemble the device (The device was working perfectly before starting replacement)
3. After i removed the old one and installed the new, i turned on the device and it showed only a black screen, then after some time i saw the touch buttons light, but still the screen is black:crying:
4. so i decided to return back the old charging port and this time when i turned on the device it sounded like it's booting and working but still with a black screen. The phone even received call and the touch screen is working but with black screen.
What do you guys think has just happened to my phone? could the new charging port cause any problems with the motherboard?
i'm really stuck and don't wanna go to a service center
I have recorded a video of the problem. Please see it below
since i'm new over here, i'm not allowed to post youtube link.
please head to youtube and type my username and watch the video : nadeaa0a
thank you very much
My younger brother always liked to disassemble things with a hammer wondering after why it wasn't possible to assemble it the other way around.
It took him a few years to understand that real knowledge of things is a clear advantage.
Go to a service center and get help from a professional instead of making it ...

maybe you disconnected the wire you were changing ports ! don't worry and don't freak out just take to any shop and they will check it i don't think the screen is burnt because if it was it would be more expensive ! go to any shop and ask them to change ports and check the screen
for what you described, my best guess would be either you unplugged the lcd and didnt plug it back in properly.... or you damaged the flex for the lcd... the charging flex wouldnt cause the problem... just inspect the lcd flex and plug for damage... if no visible damage plug it in again and try it again... lets hope its just not plugged in right...
I have the same problem
Hi,
I have the same problem. I had never disassembled my phone and the screen slowly turned purple and started blackening out. It was fully functional. This I knew because I connected it to my Windows 7 computer and used Android Commander. I ordered a new screen complete with bezel etc. I have two batteries, the first didn't even charge after I put it in the phone (it had drained totally during the wait for the new screen), the second was partially charged and allowed the screen to boot. It is however behaving like the first screen did before it went black, that is purple. I am sure I have not done anything wrong with the connections. Could it be the batteries? or the adapter flex? I just hope it is not the mainboard. It is not on warranty and we don't have that many honest phone specialists around where I live. I am almost sure others have experienced the same problem and someone on xda knows what the problem is. If you do I would be indebted.

it shows as color black, or nothing (like locked device)? I used to face this problem too with my infuse 4G, but it was because of installing custom rom. Had problem with few rom i installed but nothing happen on my stock one. If your device is just not lighting up(like locked device), then i guess because of ROM, but i'm not sure yet. But if it shows "color black", then i don't know.
THIS IS NOT A SOFTWARE BUG. Its the Screen flex or the ribbon. Disassemble the back part, and take a look at the flex or the ribbon connector of the screen, clean the conector with a tooth cleaner with alcohol and let it dry for a few minutes. Put it back on and mount the back part again. Test it, it should work.
Same thing here: changed the usb port, booted fine, had issues with the sim, turned off took it apart again to check, put it back on and black screen.
Yea having the same issue here, dismantling the usb module and put in new one, power up black screen!! The menu and back button did lights up, and the phone is working too, can hear the booting tone, anyone got any solution for that yet?

I have unplugged and replug back few times, same result. Guess most probably i have damaged the flex cable. Replacement part seems too pricy to change, rather buy a new phone.

So I recently cracked the screen on my HTC One m7. I bought a replacement screen and front housing. The screen was so far beyond repair that I couldn't shut off the phone prior to starting the replacement. I tried waiting for the phone to die but after two days I became impatient and did it anyway (essentially the phone lost power when I disconnected the battery). After transferring all parts into the new housing and being what I though as diligent putting all parts and connections back in their place, tried to power the phone back on. all that happens is that the back and home buttons flash and then I hear what sounds like the audio for when the phone powers on. The screen stays black and then phone doesn't technically turn on. I know this because I have missed messages and the green led light would be flashing if it was. Therefore, at this point I'm not certain that the new screen works or if I've connected it right. I've tried the numerous boot tricks with the volume buttons, nadda. I have had the phone on a charger for a full day and the same problems. (Disclaimer: I don't have the original charger, but I have been using this one for a long time). I do see the red charging led if I wiggle the charger in the input, but also just recently I saw a green led when doing this, which when the phone was working was a sign that it was fully charged. If anyone has a solution to my problem that would be great. I'm also interested on what's wrong, why this is happening, what might have caused this behavior? What do the flashing home and back buttons mean?
Howdy,
I've had the same problem, but my phone was shutdown allready. When I replaced the front screen, the phone won't boot. I would like to know if its anyway to get the files from sdcard down?
Thanks for the support!
The display on my Z5 Compact recently went haywire; it wasn't physically broken and the touch functionality still worked, but the display was unusable (colors out of whack, wavy patterns, zig-zags, etc.). I bought a replacement display, but after I installed it I can't get the device to come on. I can charge it and the red charging light comes on, but even after leaving it for a few hours I don't get anything. When it's charging, I do see something inside the phone light up bright white from time to time, but nothing on the display. If I let it charge and then try to power on the device, the screen will go from black to gray, but that's all I get. As far as I can tell I've got everything connected back properly, the only thing I'm not sure of is that part of the bridge over the ZIF connector for the display broke off; are there conductors in that? (I have a screenshot showing what I'm talking about, but I don't see a way to upload a local image.) The connector lock still seems to work fine. Any suggestions?
