Thinking on buying. will TV out work on CM10? - Nook HD, HD+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My dad is looking for a tablet to use at work where he can output to TV or projector. I read nook HD has tv out, but I am wondering if this works after installing CM10. Are there any issues with TV out or it works on hacked devices as in stock?

HTC MediaLink DLNA Adaptor

Hi,
Anyone knows if the new HTC MediaLink DLNA Adaptor that was released for Desire HD and others, it's compatible with HD2?
http://www.htcaccessorystore.com/pt/p_htc_item.aspx?i=207011
Thanx
Great!
I wanna know too, but i think so if HD2 was running a Desire HD rom.
i think it won´t. this just makes your tv dlna enabled and not the phone. the hardware in the hd2 is missing to use dlna with it.

What hardware would be missing from HD2? It just uses wifi for dlna I think.
Is it definitely a hardware rquirement needed? Not e.g. a software fix that could be done via Android?
actually to test this i used my hd2 some time ago to stream it to a windows 7 pc.
so the hardware is enabled.
and won't just every dlna hdmi media player work, also the cheaper one
lots of things can be used as a DLNA link, such as the xbox 360, ps3 and a media center running XBMC or Boxee. really no point in buying this for so much but is so limited. buy a first gen apple tv and but boxee and XBMC on it. its much cheaper and u get SOOOO much more out of it.
Desire HD Rom and DLNA
You can enable dlna in the desire hd and desire z builds by going into wireless - wifi and hitting the selection button and then selecting advanced settings.
In this menu, at the bottom, you can enable dlna.
You need the receiving unit to be dlna compatible. Windows 7 is. I used my hd2 running the desire hd and desire z builds to stream content to windows 7.
I also tried with the xbox but was not able to for some reason. If anyone knows how to do it, I would like to know.
IMO The issue is more the receiving than the transmitting unit.
The HTC medialink just acts as a receiver and then converts the signal to hd using hdmi connector.
The connected media tab also allows you to play content from your network media on your phone such as pictures and music. I'm still looking for a solution for playing movies however.
DLNA is a protocal standard so in theory as long as ANY device is adhereing to that standard then it will work with this HTC media link. I've got DLNA working on my HD2 so I would expect it to work here.

What should I know about using HDMI on the Dell Streak?

I sense a lot of people have been having problems with using HDMI on the Dell Streak 5. So I have a few questions.
First off have running 2.2 Froyo.
1. How do you use hdmi on this phone, do you just buy one and plug it in, or do you have to stick your phone in a dock with a hdmi output?
2. Then can I stream video from the internet using it, or do I have to download it on my phone first?
3. Do I have to use a particular media player?
4. What are some good hdmi docks I can purchase?
I really want to stream live HD video from the internet, cause Im getting the NFL Ticket and I would love to take my phone over people's home, plug it in, and stream live NFL games from my phone!!!
You more or less cant:
You must buy a hdmi dock
HDMI support requires that specific app to support the way the streak does it
music app supports music out, but disables all controls (ie no prev/next/pause/stop)
nothing supports video out
hdmi out is barely supported as very few people actually have the docks for it
why would Dell Streak Support hdmi without being able to do video out? Why would some one rather look at something on their phone, than their TV or computer!!!
It does support hdmi out, but its seems that its only limited to apps supported be Dell so you cant stream with it, witch is a downer to me.
http://youtu.be/mypLbSnxECE
only thing I can really say about hdmi and the streak is I have the home dock and have used the hdmi out on it once to see how it works, was very dissapointed and haven't used that pathetic feature since. its fairly useless as it only works with the stock dell media player
Are there any custom roms that have better support for hdmi ?? As there is a new rom and update kernel from dell so could it be implemented as i'd buy one in a shot if it worked properly.
Atb.

[Q] CM 10.1 bluetooth (joystick) support?

Sorry if I'm beating a dead drum here but I couldn't really find a definite answer. In what way is Bluetooth limited in the nook HD using CM 10.1? I see that keyboards and mouse via wired USB are no problem, but are they working normally via bluetooth? I've tried my PS3 controller via Bluetooth and that didn't work so before I go out and spend a bunch of money on wireless Bluetooth peripherals (keyboard, mouse, joystick), I want to be sure they're working. Can anyone report Bluetooth peripherals that do work?

I use a bluetooth keyboard (am using it to type this) and it works great. Have not tried other devices yet.

I use a Logitech V470 bluetooth mouse and Creative D100 bluetooth speakers with my HD+, often simultaneously. Both work great. The mouse has issues reconnecting after screen off under CarbonRom, but works without issues with verygreen's latest CM10.1.

I use a bluetooth microsoft presenter mouse and the amazon basics apple keyboard fine. Would love if we could get the bt drivers fixed to run a PS3 controller like my other CM10.1 device.

So is it just the PS3 controller that doesn't work? I assumed it was many different peripherals. Other joysticks work just fine?

I read recently in one of the CM10.1 threads that the real ps3 controller works, but a knock off third party unit did not. Search for that comment.

I've got a real one and it doesn't via bluetooth. I've read it does via wired usb connection, but we're talking about wireless Bluetooth here.
I'm not interested in using wired peripherals.
It needs app(s) and games that support gamepad.
PS3 controller app is one - requires reprogramming of BT key using a PC though.
Would like to hear other apps that work (with both XBOX360 & PS3). One that doesn't require reprogramming would be great.

Nope I've tried the app. It's my understanding that all Android devices require the app for PS3 joysticks to work via Bluetooth. In the case of the Nook HD+ running CM 10.1 it doesn't work at all. I'm wondering if that's exclusive to the PS3 controller, or if I can do retro gaming with any bluetooth controller.
Anyone have the Nyko Playpad Pro for Android/Bluetooth?
It's on amazon and has decent reviews.

My Moga Pivot bluetooth controller works great especially with the 3rd party universal driver. So glad i bought it when they were on firesale for $5.
All of my blue tooth controllers work that I have tried. I have three.
The six-axis app for ps3 controller DOES NOT work on CM 10.1 on the nook.
I tried every way possible. It only works if you connect it with usb, which i don't like either.
but six axis still won't function = useless.
The MOGA works as does the cheapo GameStop blue tooth controller.
I got a moga...tired of waiting for six axis to get fixed.

You have better luck than me.
My PS3 controller won't work no matter what was used, sixaxis BT, USB host, joy center.
I gave up trying this.
I don't plan to game a lot anyway. I'd just get the Nvidia Shield if I ever need to so more than casual time wasters on Androis
Yep, I have two controllers from Gamestop and both work fine with HD+.

Did you use a USB hub?
Sixaxis on CM10
I'm using verygreen's CM10 on SD card build (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2032364) and the sixaxis app works great. I've played through half of Symphony of the Night.
I was just about to update to CM10.1, but I think I'll hold off.

miracast or similar on nook hd+

Hi everyone
I'm running cm10.2 on the nook hd+ and wondered whether it is possible to mirror my nook on tv using a miracast dongle on this (or indeed any other) Rom?
This is important as I understand the nook hd to adapter is limited and in any event difficult to get hold of in the UK.
Anybody managed to mirror to TV from the hd+?
Cheers
Mike
Maybe try a Chromecast?
Thanks for the response, my understanding is that the chromecast only works with certain apps/content where as miracast mirrors anything.
I'm most interested in acestream streams played through mxplayer, would chromecast steam these to my TV?
I mentioned this just now in my Miracast thread, but CM11 seems to have Miracast enabled, but it doesn't seem to work from the Nook HD+. I suspect the Nook might lack some of the hardware requirements to make it work.
Miricast and Nook HD+
I'm using CWM 11 on the Nook HD+, and so far, I haven't been able to mirror the screen to a TV using Miricast (Netgear Push2TV). Anyone else have any luck with this?

[Q] video input or output

Hi I'm kind of new here and rooted my nook hd and am using it in my car as a headunit and wanted to see if there is a way to get video signal from it to an external monitor or TV and also of there is a way for it to get video from another source

I don't know of a way to get video in but video out is provided by this adapter.
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/p/hdt...c=google-_-Nook+DSA-_-Nook+DSA+Ad+Group-_-DSA
You can convert this if you don't have an HDMI input. In my spare room I have RC inputs and use a converter I got on Amazon to watch TV in there when my wife is in the living room.
I would suggest looking into wireless options. If you have a good router you can stream any video to and from the nook, TV, and computer.
