As there is no collection of Nexus 4 bootloaders yet I decided to do so. I only pull bootloaders out of the OTAs so if there is a new version available only as factory image I don't provide you a flashable zip. Also please note that only build numbers with a factory image are listed here (to see a full list in which version which bootloader was the current one have a look on the XDA wiki)

Flashing is at your own risk! I am not responsible for bricked phones.
In my opinion the flashable zip is as risky to flash as an OTA update as it uses the same commands.
Thanks to:

The nexus devices are meant to be sent without any carrier intervention. I ordered mine from T-Mobile, where they love to lock you out, however rooting my nexus was easy as paranoid pie

Unsure. Some Nexus devices in the past have had carrier SIM locks. (Mostly Orange and Vodafone I believe). I most cases, Nexus devices are not carrier SIM locked.

I too am wondering this exact question. I am currently on makoz10l. I'm tempted to switch however I don't know if I'll even benefit from it aside from it being a newer bootloader.
If someone could shed some light on the differences between the two or how we would benefit from the newer bootloader I'd be most thankful. I will click thanks

would be interesting to know whether a non-japanese razr m could be flashed with this radio and work on japan's networks...
anyone able to try it out?
Flashed this xml to dev. edition VZ without problems.
Except fact that GSM not working with this radio even if "GSM/3G" option is set.
Unable to travel to Japan to test it, sorry.
iirc japan uses a comination of wcdma and tdma technologies for their networks, so not surprising that gsm doesn't work. thanks for trying though
Thanks !!!

Hello everybody I had a question about the coming official 4.4 update
I have a locked bootloader atrix HD with cwm based recovery and its rooted. If when the Ota update releases will I be able to just accept it or will it brick my device if I accept it. Thanks for the help
It will not get bricked but you might loose the possibility to unlock the boot loader in the future as right now the person who made exploit is not available for future developing or hacking

Like SVLAN said, you will not be bricked, but your bootloader will most likely become locked. To avoid locking the bootlader, wait for someone to update, pull everything, then flash it in fastboot.

Which version are you running? AT&T, Mex Retail, or Bell? And if you take the update, it will overwrite the recovery with stock. If you fastboot the update, you don't have to overwrite it.

You will almost definitely get the update, but if you want to keep the unlocked bootloader, don't take it. There's really no chance of us getting our bootloader getting unlocked again, so if you plan on ever flashing a custom ROM anytime in the future, don't take the update.

I was exactly in the same boat as you till a couple of days ago. Bell's official veriosn is still 4.1.2 if you can beleive it!!
So i went ahead and flashed the 4.3 journalists rom thats available here. Works amazing..smooth as butter and blazingly fast.
No point in waiting for upgrade to show up on your phone. You'll be lucky to get 4.3 by middle of next year from Bell!! they're pathetic when it comes to sony upgrades..

Ftf files are original firmwares.
Can be flashed to unlocked or locked boot loaders.
Locked loaders only prevents to flash 3th party kernels.

Alright guys, so I have a quick question I'm unsure about. So I bought a Nexus 6 off of the Google Play Store, and I am using it on T-Mobile. So for the wifi calling feature, I understand that I would have to have bought the device from T-Mobile themselves for the feature to be built into the OS correct? And if that's the case, is it safe to fastboot flash the T-Mobile firmware to a device bought off of Google Play? Or is that a bad idea because of a different chipset of some kind? Thanks!

Yes, you can flash the t-mobile img and get the features they offer.
Just to clarify:
All N6 are the same. What build you get in an OTA is decided based on your sim-card (if you have a T-mobile sim, you'll get the T-mobile build).
In other words, if you're using a T-mobile sim there should be no reason for you to flash an image. Unless you've been tinkering with your phone (root, custom recovery, custom kernel), then you have to use the images to update since it'll be impossible to install updates through OTA.
So it doesn't hurt to flash any of the builds that's on the Google developers site for my nexus 6? None will brick the device somehow? And also, I have a T-Mobile sim in my nexus here, but my phone still updated to LMY48M not the T-Mobile build. I have tinkered with the device, yes. It is rooted right now and I have flashed images to it before. I have flashed LMY48I earlier on and just last week flashed LMY48M. But I did an OTA update from stock LMY48I and it took me to LMY48M. Sorry if this is confusing.

Yes, when you're in the US.
Here in Europe (Netherlands) we use a different image, although we have also T-Mobile.
It is good you ask about this, because there are many others that are/were confused.

Yes, it is safe to flash on any Nexus 6. North American or International. Every Rom works on Every Nexus 6. Regardless. The only difference is if you are on T-mobile or Verizon, if you want WiFi Calling or VoLTE (respectively) You'll need their specific builds.
Oh yea, it's definitely confusing haha When it comes to flashing anything Android powered, there's almost always a possibility to brick so I had to ask. Alright! Thanks guys! I'm gonna flash the T-Mobile image today because I am on T-Mobile and this phone is still on the US International image.
