There is a really good CM10 (JB) ROM: sapir-rom.blogspot.com I'm using this for months. It's nightly but it works perfectly for me.

Is that a cm10 or cm10 based?

if you want a good, stable and fast you can use overcome 4.1.1
it is a ginger bread ROM (2.3.6)
in second place I suggest you to try CM9.1 stable. you can find it in get.cm
in third place you can use cm10 sapir

Hi, ive mostly used CM 10 and it's quite fantastic BUT the only problem is running 1080p videos or 720p. I'm using gingerbread at the moment and the videos run flawless, but in CM10 it lags alot, even if im using mx player or moboplayer. Any fix for this?

If you are looking for stable, ICS is not meant for you. Just go for Apocalypse ROM for CM7 or for stock you got Stocklite and Myth2. Use search button
just adding that there is no "Best"
Use a stock GB rom for stability
For stability, looks n xtra functions I would suggest Koogly's-Mokee rom based on apocalypse!!!!!!
N yes there's nothing like best everyone has got his own preferences!!!!!!

There is only one ics rom for ace which is cm9 from maclaw. Others are just ics themed.

Hi!
I think that the GNexus port is the best JB ROM, I flashed it to my gf's GS, and it works like a charm. Here is the thread:

[Q] AOKP ICS development for the S5830?

There is a lot of development for Jelly Bean going on for our Aces. But sometimes it seems like ICS is getting neglected. Especially AOKP projects. Is there a currently active AOKP ICS for the SGS Ace S5830?
I found this one here on XDA but it appears to be abandoned.

I don't particularly like the Jellaxy ROMs on paper (I can't say that I have tested them though), plus they are based on Jelly Bean. I don't think that my little Ace should run Jelly Bean as it has such limited storage space and RAM.
If you can convince me that Jelly Bean on the Ace is worth it then brilliant

Will do my friend. I once thought that jellybean wasn't for my ace as well. And the cool thing is I'm not using any tweaks. Let me find the link to the rom I'm using and ill post it. Would you care to try it?

Sure, a list of what's working and what's not would be useful, as well as available internal memory, RAM usage, battery life and screenshots

I can provide screenshots of what amount of ram I'm able to get out of the rom. The link ill post will have whats working and what's not. Plus its usually updated with the latest sources. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1958867
There's the link. I recommend you try it for at least 3 or 4 days to allow it to settle. I'm getting over 100 mbs of free ram on idle after using all day with just the apps I use. After reboot I have around 135 mbs of free ram.

Interesting ROMs. The AOKP is based on JB? How does the dev want us to apply gapps without flashing them?
Any major issues with this ROM?
Yes its jellybean based. The gapps are on the first page of of the thread. Make sure to get the one for jellybean. You'll flash them like you flash the rom. Right after you flash the rom.

5.0.2.6 I believe. Something like that. Too lazy to check ATM. Earlier in this thread you said you were running a Jellaxy ROM. This isn't Jellaxy. What's up with that? And what's the difference between a slim ROM and a regular ROM?
Its slim jellaxy basically. Its pretty barebones. It gives you more space for user apps. Its based on jellaxy sources.
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda app-developers app
What's a boot splash? What is the effect of a reduced file system size? What's with the SU?

i'm miui #1 fan, but not insisting on jb
>> just on a working/stable V4 release for sgm
@nadiren made the most out of it with his version, but it's 7.2 based
@Venkatesh did it with (cm 9.2 based) V4, but it does have some glitches (that in time turn into tangible problems)
the version mentioned in your thread is probably the best when it comes to performance, but not in regard features
and considering badass <> it always helps, but v2.0 is far from flawless and applicable to the variety of roms
