[Guide] Enter Emergency Download Mode LG Optimus L5 E615/E615F [Guide]
You can enter Emergency Download Mode (EDM) on LG Optimus L5 E615
by using the following key combination
Firstly, make sure your phone is switched off and remove any SIM cards
inside it. To ensure your phone is switched off, please remove the battery.
Now re-insert the battery.
Key Combination:
#1 Press and hold both the “Vol Up” and “Vol Down” buttons. (Easy way
is to press in the center of both the buttons).
#2 Next press the Power button.
#3 As soon as the screen turns on insert the USB cable to your computer.
If successful, You will a LG Home screen with a syncing sign at the center bottom of the
screen and above it will be written “Downloading in progress, please do
not disconnect or power off the phone.” (OR SIMILAR).
Purpose:
If you have tried to enable animated boot menu's which will make the
screen hang while booting up and in most severe cases make the phone
un-bootable.
How to use:
#1 Firstly, note down the IMEI of your mobile. You can do this by
removing the back cover and battery. After removing the battery you
will see IMEI1 and IMEI2. Note both of them down. Either one can be
used.
#2 Next you will need to make sure that the PC you will be using has LG
PC Suite installed, with latest USB drivers and LG Support Tool.
#3 After putting your phone in EDM you can connect it to LG Support
Tool, it will hopefully receive the required information. If it doesn't
then you can manually go to options >> recovery >> enter IMEI.
#4 Next, your phone should be discovered and the software tool will
automatically download the latest STOCK FIRMWARE for the mobile.
#5 Essentially, if all above fails, and your phone is still not discovered by
the tool, you can restart the process and this time after putting your
phone in EDM you can directly open up LG PC Suite and you can go to
Tools/Options and click support tool/phone recovery.
#6 In the above case your phone should be recognized, if it doesn't then
manually input your IMEI as mentioned earlier. And all will work out
IF I HELPED, PLEASE KINDLY SAY THANKS, IT TAKES WEEKS TO WRITE A PROPER GUIDE, BUT MINUTES TO SAY THANKS.
HAPPY HUNTING AND FLASHING
Could you please number the steps, so that it will be easy to follow the step by step instructions. If the EDM mode is followed, what will be the Android software that gets installed on the mboile? Will it be be ICS for E615 or any ealrier version. The reason I asked because
1. I connected my phone via USB to PC (Selected the option "Connect LG SOftware")
2. Opened LG supported tool.
3. Selected "Recover phone"
4. It asked to enter the IMEI.
5 .After entering IMEI, it showed the model as E615 and when clicked "Yes", I got the below msg
"
- After upgrading the OS (eg. Android 1.6 Donut; Andorid 2.1 Eclair), user data will be erased. Therefore, please backup all the data prior to the upgrade process.
- Applications previosuly download from Android market will be earsed as well". However any data stored in SD will remain.
- After upgrading OS, user will not be able to restore to the previous version even Factory reset is performed.
Would you like to conitnue (Yes/NO)
"
I was not activating the EDM mode. Just I was tryign to familiarize with the LG Support tool. But at the same time, worried in case if we want to activate EDM, then will the Android verson be same (ICS) or the previous version?
Yes it will ask u that and u have to comply, whether it is EDM or not
with the after it starts updating my sofware it freezes at 4% ? help
My Device Not Entering to Emergency Mode
Help Please!

My Device Trouble is Bootloop, stuck in LG Logo. please help me master
thanks this is very helpfull to noobs like me. this is always my last resort to restoring my phone whenever I softbrick my phone.
THe whole recovery function finishes but the phone still does not boot up what may be the reason?
The reason for the phone not booting up is that the System memory has been flashed. Try to enter the EDM once again and Hopefully that should work out for you. Post your feedback here.

I just cant get into emergency, DIAG or emergency CS
KDZ the phone connects and then I get a message afterwards PHONE NOT FOUND.
everytime I install the drivers by LG support tool, it keeps giving me the option to install the driver, like I havent done it a hundred times over.
I think there should be a driver somewhere that can be installed but the only people that have this driver are LG tech's. So they can bill you after
send the phone in cause you rooted it. So the one billion dollar question is witch hero will find a way to unbrick this device. We only need a way
to get a driver to install and we are home free. Or maybe the only other option is throwing the phone for sale on internet for spare parts
HELP PLEASE HELP find a way to unbrick this phone. Believe me I flashed and bricked alot of different phones and there was a way out but in
with this phone it seems impossible!!
And there is no mode to put it in in because te volume buttons don't do crap, the home button also, the only time that the phone does show up is when windows tells me it has an unknown device that I for the love of god can't find a driver for. I tried SDK, the LG drivers, but no dice
any other options??
Easy Peasy
@breakercris
The solution to your above mentioned Problem is very very easy. Not techy at all.
Basically there might be some drivers that might be conflicting.
Try to fix things in Device Manager and post screen shots here.
Also if you are unable to get them working then try a Reformat for your PC. IMHO go for WINDOWS 7 or 8.
Lastly remove the battery of your phone.
Also make sure you have LG PC Suite Installed and LG Support Tool Installed as well.
Hold down the power and the volume buttons and insert the USB Cable into the PHONE WITHOUT THE BATTERY, and my dear friend you will be home free.
Sincerely,
XxXKINGMAKXxX
PS. If you still need some help, PM me
I appreciate in writing the steps to install firmware. It would be great if there is some info on how to avoid the online firmware download. Do you have any info on that?

Yes you can use kdz flasher to install it offline. You should have the ROM downloaded for this to work

Hi. I'll use this thread to ask something related. I've a LG L5 E610. Wanted to flash a generic brand-free rom and apparently i need to boot to emergency mode (vol up + vol down + power) except the phone can't boot to any mode except for a regular boot - phone works perfectly with a simple boot just using the power button. If i try any key combo all i get are the bottom soft keys (back and options) quickly flashing. That's it, screen stays off, nothing more happens.
Phone's new, all i did was reseting it (vol down + home + power) and rooted it following some method i found around here (worked flawlessly too). I also know vol up + home + power also used to work before this (tried it by accident before).
Any ideas? Thanks!

Well it must be a phone issue, previously when I tried to upgrade my phone, it used to give me the error after downloading and just before installing, PHONE SOFTWARE NOT COMPATIBLE.
I just realized that the bootloader and the Software version for the region were not properly set.
About the Battery issue, well try it with a new battery, or else try to clear battery statistics. EDM should basically allow you install the Original Firmware.
Anyways, google up the Stock Rom for your phone, they are most likely available on

There are a couple of guides out there that would help you install the STOCK or CUSTOM roms on your LG Mobile, the best one that has been around for quite sometime is KDZ Flasher. Give it a try and hopefully everything works fine.

Hi all kind bros and sis,
Please help me out as I think I've really bricked my less than 2 months brand new Optimus 2X..
You see.. I rooted my P990 using unlock root and chanced upon CM7 and thought of giving it a try. I installed clockworkmod and downloaded the stable release of 7.1 for Optimus 2x.. following the instruction to do a Nandroid backup and proceeded with the Mod..
Not knowing that I need to wipe everything including data.. I just selected the Dalvik cache wipe and proceed with the mod. The process went for more than 15mins and I saw some graphics (the android figure going round and round) but it just stuck there... the screen went blank and when I touched those home or back buttons.. they will lighted but nothing happens. I can't power it off also. So I manually took out the battery and put it back before powering up again. The android picture appeared again briefly for about 1 min and just hanged there. I took out the battery again and this time it was dead.. no matter what I press : vol + and power buttons together; home+Vol+ + power down; Vol- + power down.. all those do not revive the phone.
I tried taking out the external SD card and try powering up. The LG logo appeared and got stuck there.
I searched on Google and found the smartflashtool. I tried that and managed to install the NVidia boot recovery driver and stuff correct. Hold the vol+ button and power key before plugging in but the smarttool did not find the com port or communication driver whatever so I couldn't flash it back to stock.
I'm very desperate and stuck now... did I just accidentally burned the board or something? What bad luck I have
If that's the case, will I still be able to bring the phone back to LG service centre and get it repaired?
Please help me.. any kind souls out there. I really liked the phone and hoped to bring it back. else it's such a shortlived phone... really breaks my heart to see this..
Thanks in advance...

Turn off the phone. Hold Vol-DOWN while plugging it in. Start Smartflash and see the com-ports magically appear.
Follow trymhansen's instructions. He helped me before with my softbricked phone.
I hope you get your O2X back to life! Keep us posted
Best of luck to you!
PS. I also believe you should pull out the battery after turning off the phone in Trym's instructions. Trym correct me if I'm wrong please.
Hi All,
Thanks for your kind replies. I did follow your instruction. Take out the battery (I removed the ext SDcard as well), press and hold -vol and plug in the phone via USB. Afterwhich start up smartflash tool.. still nothing happens and no com ports are found.. The version of smartflashtool that I used is Dec 2010. Do I need to get the latest one and also the LG united drivers installed?
I also tried starting smartflash tool before the sequence.. still the same. BTW.. my OS is Win 7. Is it supported?
Really at my end's wit. Hope I can bring my phone back to life soon and I'm not really bricking it. I heard Samsung phones are not that easy to brick and can get to the recovery mode pretty easily. is it true?
Please help me.. thanks
Hi bros,
Attached are my screenshots from the device manager and smartflash tool... both seems not able to find the phone and allocate a com port. I've tried installing the latest LG mobile driver 3.6 but no help as well
Have you followed instructions as described here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1008070 ?
Also, try to attach your phone directly to computer, using usb ports from computer mainboard. I have experienced problems when attaching it via extension usb cord or attaching it to computer case ports. (I hope that you can understand what I have mean to say with usb )
Hi Memhis,
Yes.. I followed exactly the instructions from the thread and I've plugged into a USB port directly to the computer which is one of the ports in front.. not via any extension or USB hub.. still it did not detect.
I'll try to use another computer which is running Win XP and try again. I've downloaded those 3 files from that thread you recommended try using those instead.. hope it can be detected this time else I think I'll have to send to LG service for repair tomorrow.
I've been jailbreaking and modding my Iphone a lot and everytime whenever there's a near brick situation.. I'm able to fix it but not this time with an Android or LG perhaps... I hope I don't have to go to the extend of using ADB low level to push some files which I saw in one of the thread that one of the guys did that.. but I doubt I can since my windows can't even detect the phone!!
Maybe this will be my first and last LG phone if I ever get it repaired...

launch smartflashtool first, extract the .fls and .bin files, hold down volume at the same time plug in the usb port to your comp. you must see a s/w updating logo in your phone's screen and smartflash should detect your phone. then click start!

Hi mrgian,
I just tried to revive my phone by using the same method on a different laptop running on Win XP.. plugged directly to a side USB port but still no luck. There's no s/w updating logo appearing on my phone and smartflashtool also failed to detect my phone. I've found another thread opened by another user and my situation is exactly the same as his :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161583
But lucky for him is that he's able to get it working after changing to another PC but I've tried 3 different machines and no luck so far...
I'll try to use the NVflash as a last resort and see if I've any luck with NVflash at all.. If it failed again.. I think I've no choice but to send it to the repair centre for servicing then..

When you say an USB port in the front do you mean an USB in the back? Because the ones in front are the case ones, the ones in the back are the good ones, i.e. the ones that are directly attached to the mobo.

Hi Folks,
I have a P970H and I was trying to make it a little faster. I tried a few roms and decided to use the original V20Q but I was having GPS problems.
Following google, I arrived here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1503459.html
Then, I decided to follow this:
m4rkiz

SR3-R2 is very good (I personally use SR2 with PP9 for best smoothness).
And if you want, you can flash a tweak pack, too.
i would prefer to have combination that someone (named You) tested already, is that full list then?
1. rom - Rebuild_of_V20q_Update.zip
2. root + cwm
3. baseband - bb20120313.zip
4. kernel - Horse_Power_2x_Xtreme_StableRelease_SR2.zip
5. tweak pack - V20q_Tweak_Pack_FD_off_by_Flix123.zip
6. performace pack - HP_PerformancePack_V9_Modified_by_Flix123.zip
any comments on order in which should i flash those files?
Click to collapse
as I was already on stock V20Q w/ Root, I booted on recovery, flashed with Rebuild_of_V20q_Update.zip and (I think that here was my mistake) I also applied a root.zip, the same that I've used on stock rom. When I clicked on reboot.. Voilá - NOTHING. NADA. NIENT. My phone does not boot anymore. It does not turn on, not even go to download screen (VOL UP + USB).
What do you think. did I bricked my black?
That ROm is for Optimus 2X as indicated in the thread tittle. Have you even read what thread are you at?
For the itch of flashing. Most members here "always" finds the download link without even reading information on what they are downloading. I believe you wouldn't put diesel on a gasoline car, would you?
try reviving with SmartFlash.

I think you still have chances to unbrick your phone..
First you have to enter into software upgrade mode to smart flash a ROM (.bin files)
I think (volume up + power) is wrong....it is (volume down + power key)..is right...just refer the instructions carefully
Here, I am giving the link, refer it carefully, I succussfully installed through it. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1448803)
Go through this link, relaxedly follow the instructions.. your phone will be ubbricked and also search in google about how to enter into software upgrade mode of P970 phone
If it not successful, you have a to try as final option with LG update tool with recovery option (also search google about how to recovery with LG update tool)
Press THANKS button if I helped you

so I'm as new to this forum as I am to the android world. Just this Wednesday i bought a new LG Optimus 4X HD on amazon.de
Thought it would be nice to start of with Cyanogenmod.
So I started my search for some good "How-To's"...it were many I went through and I already invested many hours in getting this running. Sadly it still doesn't work. I actually wanted to stay with one How-To but at one point there's always a download not working so that other sources are needed.
So what did I do...
-I rooted it yes (at this point I needed to download "Rooting Toolkit for Optimus 4X HD" which wasn't downloadable so i switched to another How-To, btw. first How-To: http://androidlegend.com/android-4-2-1-via-cyanogenmod-10-1-for-lg-optimus-4x-hd-p880-cm10-1/
-Installed "LG 4X Recovery 1.2" and installed this way CWM.
-At another point here I installed ROM Manager, installed it and went into Recovery and here happend the first problem, kernel panic.
Said something like "couldn't load kernel/wrong kernel", kernel panics...Me panics too
Anyway, force kill -> auto reboot -> still kernel panic -> again -> batterie out and a few times with usb cable connected to PC -> Batterie again, works :good:
Ok so Clockworkmods Rom Manager seemed to be not that good... did recovery boot with LG 4X Recovery, tada works, I go into the folder with the Cyanogenmod-zip and want to start the ROM installation and it says Status 7 (of course I googled Status 7 and searched here in the xda-boards for it, nothing helpful found yet)
Installed older version of LG 4X Recovery (1.1), still same fault.
I uninstall the ROM manager, redownload and reinstall, try to backup -> Kernel panic.
I search for a different How-To, yet nothing good happened. Others go something similar and say "at booting press On-Button and Volume down-button at the same time", I do that -> Kernel panic
I have no idea whats wrong with the kernel...but normal booting works fine.
Next I read something about needing to unlock bootloader, have a workthrough aka this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224020
After I enter "adb reboot oem-unlock" in DOS command window it should say something concerning "open bootloader", but not in my case, just a normal reboot happened (this is what it looks like at least). Checking the hidden menu also doesn't show anything as I don't have the option with the boot-loader status there.
Next trick, I go to LG Recovery again and first wipe the whole stuff and try then the Cyanogen istall, still doesn't work and as I wasn't able to backups before (tried Titanium but it froze at 12% and the stuff about ROM Manager is told^^) I now had a clean factory install, all my work before lost, nothing rooted and still a kernel which panics when I do the "safe-boot"(this volume- and on-button-thing).
I also tried 3-All-in-one solutions, neither of them worked. (2 german ones, and one english one)
So I think thats it, ah wrong, still not finished. I also tried to install a new kernel to erase that f****ng problem with the kernel panic. I choose to use WerwewolfJB_v005 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2256899
the easy and fast way made the same as the try before with the "open bootloader"-try, just normal restart. When I enter the second line in the command line, it just says "waiting for device".
So yeah, thats it. I don't know what else to do. Does anyone know what I could also do, or is this case unsolvable? Is the Smartphone broken or did I make a mistake at any point? What should I do?
I'd be super glad if anyone could help me here. I hope I described my case well enough. I hope I didn't forget anything.
Thanks in advance!
Greetz chrisus
I am also new to this stuff but maybe i could help you anyway
What is the Firmware Version of your phone?
(Sorry for bad english )
The old "adb reboot oem-unlock" didn't work for me on UK, v234-000 either. I followed this thread instead and it worked perfectly first time.
As long as your phone has been turned on and connected to the network for long enough on v20x you should be fine - once you get the notification from LG about your phone being registered or similar then you'll be fine, normally a couple of hours.
Just reflash your phone to stock, wait for the notification and try the two-step method from the above post and you should be fine.
root , recorery and unlock boot loader
you must have your bootloader unlocked in order to flash kernels
( this worked for me but I can't guarantee it will work for others you can only try !! be aware when messing with firmware and bootloader you warranty could be voided )
make sure your phone is rooted you know if it is rooted because you will have superuser installed in your apps ( grey square icon with green android head on it ). if not I used this method to root my phone so try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2180688
if your phone is rooted next you will need a recovery this will help to backup your phone and create a restore point so in case any thing goes wrong. to install a recovery go to play store and download rom manager ( clockworkmod ) once installed open rom manger and select recovery setup. then select install or update recovery then select your phone ( lg optimus 4x hd). then select flash clockworkmod recovery. and then wait while it downloads and setup . hopefully when finished it will say succesfull. ( make sure phone is rooted or it wont work ) to check clockwork mod is working you can reboot into recovery through rom manager or power off phone then hold volume down key press power button to power up but keep holding volume down key until recovery boot up. ( be a wise option to backup phone now in recovery)
next to unlock bootloader ( so you can flash roms with kernels) go to this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224020
and download the BL_unlock_new .rar file when its download copy it to your desktop on pc and then extract it to desktop on pc . now make sure your phone is not connected to your computer go to phone settings, then go to development options, and then select usb debugging on. once debugging is on now connect your phone to pc wait for it to connect you can keep your phone on charging mode. now open the BL_unlocking_new extracted folder on desktop on pc and double click on the BL_unlock file a box should open up on your desktop asking you to tap a key to continue so press a key now your phone should reboot and some white writing will appear on screen .on your desktop the bottom line should say please... now tap a key on computer it should say press any key to continue < waiting for device> now disconnect phone from computer look on phone screen it should say now ready! now hold power button for 10 secs and let phone reboot. to test if bootloader is unlocked on phone go to dail pad and dail this 3845#*880# you should get the hidden menu on your screen scroll down to bootloader unlock check and select then select bootloader unlock check and hopefully it should say unlock...
now you have root , recovery and bootloader unlock, now you can download a rom for this phone copy rom ( should be a zip file ) to your phone then open rom manager on phone and reboot in to recovery or power off phone, hold volume down button then press power button should now boot into recovery then you want to use volume keys to scroll down and select wipe data/factory reset with power button then scroll down and select advanced then scroll down and select wipe dalvik cache then you want to select go back then select install zip from sd card then select where you saved your rom sd card or external sd card then select rom then select install...
hopefully if that's helped you or anybody else ...

If the OP can possibly get his bootloader unlocked following the official method then he should, rather than using that file. Nobody really knows what all the 'fuses' that are blown by using that file do and that would certainly result in his warranty being voided in any country, whereas in a lot of countries his warranty won't actually be voided by using the official unlock method.

Ok, thanks for the answers so far. But still, wasn't able to get any further.
@Dexxon: Firmware version is 4.0.3
Besides: Kernel Version is 2.6.39.4 and there's also something written like "[email protected] #1" in the hidden menu...is this normal? AP Bootloader Verison unknown and AP OS Version is 2.6.39.4 also this jinwoo...
@SimonTS: I tried to unlock the bootloader with your link and advices (which is the same as i tried before).
Got a message saying "Thanks for buying this LG Phone..blabla" and I guess thats what you mentantioned about that informing.
Battery was loaded to 100% so i connected it to PC, said "LG Software Mode Connection" on the phone (before I always took that "data exchange connection"), went to the adb folder and made a command window there, entered "adb reboot-bootloader", smartphone reboots, should stay in LG window screen, but it doesn't. It just boots totally normal into the home screen.
@Hursty uk: As I said in the first post. Everything regarding the ROM Manager from CWM sends my Phone into kernel panic. As this is quite hard to get a normal reboot again (even battery out for some time and back-in doesn't solve this) I really prefere to not use this option. As it is just frustrating and doesn't help.
And yes it is already rooted (I have SuperSU and I checked it with the "Root Checker"-App) Everything says it is rooted. I rooted it with that method: androidlegend.com/how-to-root-lg-optimus-4x-hd-o4x-p880
Ah I really don't know what else to do. Is something just wrong with my device?
btw I also can't do a software update with the LG Software from there website, so I could at least go 4.1 instead of 4.0.3 atm...
When I try it that way, and install the USB-Drvier for LG P880 the SW-Update button stays grey and is unclickable even though the phone is connected.

To unlock the bootloader following either of the official methods requires you to be running v20x (The LG Stock v4.1 code) first, so that is why the commands are doing nothing for you.
For the moment, forget about CWM, Root, Bootloaders etc - the key thing is to get your phone working again. Can you reinstall stock v10x software following the guide on this page?

that would of been my next answer @SimonTS . A while back a flashed something on my phone and it got stuck at the lg bootup picture what I had to do was re-install original firmware ( through KDZ files) to get my phone working. I would try the link @SimonTS suggested .

Thanks for that link, I tried it but that also didn't work (at least I guess so...)
I did everything like said at the link but at the last point the program (kdz_fw_upd.exe) crashes. Tried it 3 times, every time as administrator like mentioned in that forum post. I'm using Win 8 64bit btw...
Screenshot is in the attached .jpg. My system is japanese, but I think you can figure out what this kind of window means. It just says that the program isn't responding and needs to be shutdown.
I tried it like mentioned with putting the battery back in when the log starts and without putting it back in, in both cases the program crashes after a few seconds (~10 secs) when started.
Where do I actually see which V**x version is installed? If v10x or v20a? Surprisingly the LG Support Tool said I have v10H when the phone was still connected after the crash. And it offered me a SW-Update. But I haven't done that one yet, not sure if that would work correct...

+1 this. Also, there have been many problems with running these apps using Windows 8, and you need to make sure you're not using a USB 3 port as they being other problems in to the equation.

Ok so I've flashed JB with the LG Updater (without batterie and volume down button pressed connecting to PC, than start the update -> meanwhile putting batterie back in)
JB worked just fine and I also don't had the problem with the kernel panic when booting with volume down and power button.
So I thought, everything fresh and also different, I might give the ROM Manager App again a try (after I rooted it that way: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2180688 )...well, wasn't that smart. After I installed the Recovery for P880 in the ROM Manager, i made a normal boot (just for sure), back in the app, i wanted to go into Recovery mode and again kernel panic, bit different this time cause it does a shutdown after 5 seconds^^
Anyway, this way it didn't work, from now on I also couldn't go into safe mode anymore, same kernel panic.
As this kind of recovery doesn't seem to work, I tried the "old" way with the "LG 4X Recovery" I mentioned before. After recovery installation i just wanted to boot normal aaaand nothing happened. It stayed in the LG screen. Restart and anything didn't help here so I backed back to v10H with previous methods. Now I just got a security error saying "morning call is empty", no idea what that means but I just did the same method for JB again.
Worked afterwards, so I wanted to try it without ROM Manager Recovery installed and just LG 4X Recovery, (after rooted again of course) and it didn't boot again. Same game again.
So now I have JB installed, I'm going to root it now again, but I don't know what way I should go for doing the Recovery Part. I'm stuck on point 3 here
Any advices? btw thanks a lot until here, at least I made it half-way-through to JB now. Worst case I'd stay with that one at least.
I'm not entirely sure which threads you've been reading. Once you have the stock v20x ROM on your phone, just leave it alone for a few hours and make sure it is fully charged
After that, try to unlock the bootloader before doing anything else. If that works then you can worry about CWM and custom ROMs.

ok.
now i suppose you have a functional rooted JB 4.1.2 device.
from that you have to going on to rest of the steps to have CM installed on your device.so if it is not that (functional rooted JB device) is need to flash again JB and rooted again.
if you have the proper kdz file the tutorial for flasing is there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069723
and the tutorial for rooting device is there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2180688&highlight=root+jb+4+1+2+
after that make some reboot of device to verify that:
1. the device boot to system normaly a few times (just let the device boot itself)
2. the device enter in S/W Upgrade Mode (with the device off, put the USB cable in device and PC or in device and AC adapter and press VOL DOWN + POWER) a few times
3. the device boot in Stock Recovery (with the device off, press VOL DOWN + POWER) a few time.
if you can manage to do this tree steps a few times normaly then you have a fully functional device and we go to next step that is Custom Recovery
the chance to make this steps without errors is more big if you start from scratch meaning fully wipe the device and flashing stock LG software on the device.
so, let as know here when you are ready...

he should unlock bootloader before flashing custom recovery.
so, dont use rom manager before you unlock bootloader, that's why you get kernel panics.
Switched from one provider to another, got a new phone which uses micro-sim, and couldnt get the p880 to read the new sim card, so I have been using the new phone, which is greatly inferior to the p880..
With the p880 just sitting around unused, i decided i might as well try to mod it, then get a regular sim card for it and start using it again. I think i killed it instead.
Before it died on me, I formatted / wiped / factory reset and then used the LG Mobile Support tool to upgrade to whatever the newest official release was.. 4.1.2??
At this point, here is what it can do:
1) When attempting to just turn it on and USE it as normal, it turns on, gets to the animated LG logo and stays there forever.
2) Power + Vol Down = OEM LG recovery menu
3) Power + Vol Up = Some kind of Restore graphic
4) Power + Vol Up and Down (AVX) = nothing
5) Plugged into USB with battery removed and holding Vol Down = home row LEDs light up, nothing else
Windows sees the phone as a "removable disk H:" when I plug it in, but the LG recovery software does not see it, and it also does not show up in the device manager..
At this point, all that I can seem to access is the "apply update from ADB" option to do an "adb sideload" command in recovery mode.. When I send over the root tool, the phone is happy. If I attempt to send anything else over via sideload, I always get kicked out of the process when it gets to the "verifying installation package" portion. I can wipe / factory reset to my heart's content, but I can get absolutely no further than this after attempting for about six hours yesterday.
Any hope for me or do i have a dope looking paperweight? Will providing you guys either the IMEI or S/N shed any light into a path to recovery?
Thanks for your time!
You have a booting rom, the device is not even close to hard brick. Is your bootloader unlocked? If yes you can flash a custom recovery with fastboot and install any rom you want.

thank you, speady.. it turned out to be the first solution that you suggested, which i had seen before during my scouring of these forums.. but the real basis of my problem was that i had my phone plugged into the front-facing USB port of my computer rather than the one directly connected to the motherboard (on the back).. i guess the phone wasnt getting enough juice out of the front port to boot to S/W Update mode.. i am back to stock LG software and am eventually going to mod to another ROM
THANK YOU!
Hi all,
I (foolishly) attempted to update to 2.1.0.11 on my X2 after installing Google Play services using the Nokia X2 Tools. (Later on, I found that it was not possible yet.)
After restarting, the phone hung at the flickering Nokia logo during startup.
So I attempted to recover using NCS and RM-1013 NDT EURO RU rom and followed instructions as per this tutorial
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2668005
However, the first time, I got this message:
"Initialising WinUSB with device handle. The parameter is incorrect."
After that, the phone is now completely bricked.
It cannot power on, removing and inserting the battery does not work.
It will not enter download mode again, either.
If plugged into USB, the phone does not power on nor display any charging animation. However, checking shows that there is a QHSUSB device.
However, any further attempts to flash with NCS result in same message.
Can anyone help? I would be very grateful. Thank you.
Can't u even enter the download mode (volume down + power button)?

Hi!
Nope. I don't know why. I followed the flashing instructions to the letter but after seeing the message that was when the phone died.
I've removed and put back the battery almost 50 times now.
The phone doesn't respond to any button press, it doesn't even power on to charge when USB charger is plugged in.
Hoping for help from all you experts...
If not then I have the first real brick on my hands, in so many years of tinkering with Android phones...

1. please try to set up a new usb connection via NOKIA FUSE.
2. and then get back to Product support tool for store 5, choose new usb connection and keep recovering. IT WORKS.
3. i was just lucky for making mine reborn, hope
Yes, nokia care suite really works. I had almost bricked my nokia xl while flashing a custom rom & ncs brought my phone back. Just keep trying, it will get your phone back.

Could you please describe how? in details if possible. Please. Because the same thing happened to my phone, Nokia X2 (RM-1013) and I am really sad about it. I tried the FUSE and it got me nowhere. To remind you again, my phone is completely dead, no screen light, no vibration while trying to switch on, nothing. Can't get into recovery or fast boot and my PC cant detect my phone, showing 'Unknown Device' in device manager. I am using a traditional USB cable. Please help me

Hi all,
I (foolishly) attempted to update to 2.1.0.11 on my X2 after installing Google Play services using the Nokia X2 Tools.
Thank you.

Hi,
Great news!!! I finally got the solution. Have you heard of Infinity Best? Look it up, I am not able to paste link here as it might go against XDA rules, just google it. They have an 'Emergency Driver'. Just install it, your PC will recognize your phone in no time. Then you can use the recovery option in Nokia Care Suite to recover your Nokia X2.
