Dude...i updated officially via lg pc suite.. and it works pretty well....though i feel some lag......the firmware is v20b.....but the only problem is i cannot root it using gingerbreak....is there any other way to root v20b ???

Can somebody rip out all the waste apps and upload a flashable Rom based on indian GB.?? Itseems the apps added needs updation which eats rom space!!

No one has that.much time to waste it on ****ty and laggy official update. You may do it wuth the help of appinventor

ya dude ..just make a backup of all your contacts & messages through apps like my backup pro or titanium backup..then once upgraded restore it ..you are done

I suppose after you flash the Odin thing, you need to install cyanogen first, huh?

what ics version is best for sgs? i never tryed cyanogen mod.... is cm9(ics) ready for daily use, or what do you prefer?

No? .... please read Teamhacksung´s thread, it says it all in #1 Post
- First time flashing ICS to your Galaxy S (or coming from another ROM)?
Root your device and install ClockworkMod Recovery.
Reboot into Recovery using 3-button-combo
Do a Nandroid backup!
WIPE (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition)
Install the ROM from internal sdcard using ClockworkMod Recovery
Optionally install the Google Addon
WIPE again or Calendar Sync will not work.

I have always preferred Teamhacksung´s release, just test it and see how you like it ....

There are 2 ICS builds,
-Onecosmic's ICS port (I think this one's the fastest because it isn't modified)

-And Teamhacksung's (This one's very nice modified, but I think it isn't as fast as Onecosmic's)

And, you can just flash to a base firmware (from samsung) from (it doesn't matters on which ROM you are), I prefer JW1 as base (It's stable!!)
If you want to download any base, go to sammobile.com, create an account and voila!
Boom ... (I don't know why I say that but I like that..?)

Onecosmic's ICS ROM has been great for me, it is really fast and good as a daily. The only issue is USB connection sometimes it breaks on longer file transfer. I usually use miui rom it works simpler that way then layer ics on top.

i flashed the Pre-flashing-kit with odin. then i flashed cf-root. and at the end i flashed a file called ICS_4.0.3.0(RC3.1)_GalaxyS_Full.zip
i think it´s teamhacksungs
whatever.....it´s working....and i still got all my photos

Need help downgrade to CM 10.2

Hi all,
I have installed CM 11 on my S advance phone and it is working good, however as the cam feature is stil in WIP (work in Progress) i am plaaning for a outing and I really need the cam on the phone to work, so i was trying to go to the recovery mode (power+menu+volume upp) it brings up the screen i did a clean wipe and went to my sd card and tried to install the CM10.2 but it is givng a error is downgrading to 10.2 not possible once you do it to cm 11 ? or do i need odin to go back to samsung provided os and then install CM10.2 ?

If you wiped system, then you can't install CM10.2 - because it is looking for lines in build.prop (and they are gone by wipeing). You can remove first couple of lines of updater-script - explanation. Or flash stock with Odin, and after that install CM10.2.

In short just flash stock rom in ODIN and then install cm10.2.

Sorry, but I think there is no such thing for our firmwares.
Try with some download manager, that d-h.st links. I was getting about 500kbps.

[Q] Upgrade to Custom ROM SGS1

i have a samsung galaxy s1 with stock ROM Eclair 2.1-update, and i want to flash it with CM7 or CM9,
so is no need to upgrade to FROYO first and then to CM7,or just installing cwm in eclair then flash it with CM7?

You don't need to upgrade anything
I'd reccomend to start with CM11 nightly which is pretty stable http://get.cm/get/e3f

An alternative may be to update your galaxy s to frodo (Android 2.3) using Samsung Kies Software,
and after this follow the offical guide by the cyanogen mod team, you can find it there: wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_galaxysmtd
Through strazdas007 has recommended you to use cm11 nightly version, i would rather stick with the M versions, at the downloads they're called snapshot version! This are tested builds in contrast to the daily releasing nighlty builds.

thanks, but my USB port in the phone was broken so i can't update it from kies or Odin, if their any other method to upgrade my phone , i will appreciate :victory::victory:

I am quite new with all these and I want some help.
I got a samsung galaxy ace S5830 with cyanogen mod 7.2.0 with android version 2.3.7.
Is there any way to install Instagram? Any apk available?

Can you not install it from Google Play? If you can't, then it most probably will not work on your device.

Yes I cannot install it because the current version available in google store isn't supported by my phone, because of the rom I guess.so I was looking for an older version apk compatible with my current rom.

If you are interested in installing the latest version of Instagram, I suggest you upgrade to CM 9 or above. Are you using Ace S5830 or S5830i? Anyway I tried searching for Gingerbread compatible version and found this (haven't personally tried it),

So i guess i have to try a more recently released custom rom.

Thankfully I also use Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830. I was a bit confused when you posted this question in the S5830i Q/A section. Personally, I suggest you use the CM9 by Rhievaldo. You can also try the other version CM9 and above roms and be a judge yourself. Here is the link to all the custom roms for Ace S5830,

CWM 5 is more than enough with CM 7, CM 9 and CM 10 roms. CWM 6 should only be used if you want to go for CM 11 (KitKat) roms. But even in CM 11 roms, there is one rom (KitKat for All) that works quite well with CWM 5. So you are good to go with the recovery you have know. Make sure to follow the installation instructions specified in the thread. Good Luck

No, I don't use Instagram on Ace. It could be a RAM problem though

so what do you suggest to do?i pressed the home button in order to close any other running programs but the problem insists:silly:

You can use Greenify to hibernate other unnecessary apps that runs in the background. You can save some RAM that way.
