Question about rooting new 2.1

Hey guys I wanted to ask a question and see what kind of feedback I get
I had a nice rooted hero but had some hardware issues and Sprint was nice enough to replace my phone
However, now I have the official 2.1 update and I know I cant root my phone again (Even though Ive tried )
My question is, I still have the unofficial RUU that was released a while back that I also used but I was able to root after that update. If I use that RUU again and install it over the official RUU, will I be able to ROOT my phone again?
Im afraid to brick my phone so all your help is greatly appreciated

Unfortunately, that will not work. It won't brick your phone either, because it won't let it flash the rom.
thanks for the info. that sucks. does anyone think we will be able to root the 2.1 soon? I miss my old phone..

[Q] root question

I recently lost my htc hero and have just received a new one from insurance and it is updated to the 2.32.651.2 software. I have been searching around, but have not been able to find any way to root this. If anyone could help it would be great, thanks

You might have to downgrade your software through HTC's RUU. I don't have the file but someone will post it eventually.

1. Goto XDA Hero CDMA forums (which, I guess, you know how to...)
2. Click on "Search this forum"
3. Enter "2.32.651.2"
4. Hit Enter
5. Enjoy!
Don't tell me that you did not find posts for rooting this update, I just ran a search and found atleast 3...

Here you go!

Did it yesterday and it works! If you just want to root, go ahead with z4root. If you experience lag after rooting, just reboot and your good to go if you dont plan on flashing any roms. Link to z4root in post.

Still waiting for ICS.!

Hi, my XL is unbranded from India and I haven't seen any update yet..
Software 1.24.720.2 CID = HTC_038
I have rebooted my phone many times.
Anyone with the same problem ??
Thanks.
Any help or idea ???????
I guess till end of June you will get it.....just assuming
im from malaysia
still not getting the official
ics
The update rolls out in batches, don't expect to get it.straight away, just because other users are. Be patient, or if you really want it so bad, root your phone and install a custom ROM, or run an RUU.

OK now i am getting impatient... My XL has an original Indian ROM version 1.24.720.2 CID=htc_038,, What happen if I install a ROM from another region ??
For example can I use this one?
RUU_RUNNYMEDE_ICS_35_S_HTC_Europe_2.31.401.2_Radio _20.70.30.0832U_3831.16.00.16_M_release_258303_sig ned.exe - 432.8 MB

Sensation and Sensation XL has different specs.
The best way to port roms to SXL is taking rom from HTC One V cause it have almost same specs
