[Q] I9000 and MyRemote - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
I've just bought a Philips smart TV, Philips has an app called My Remote to control the TV. The thing is, I could not find the app from the play store on my device. I looked for it on the net using my computer, and there it tells me that it is not compatible with my GT-I9000 (Samsung Galaxy S).
Anyone's got the same issue? Is there a way to force the app to install? What I'm looking for is having text input to look for stuff on youtube, etc.
If that has anything to do, I'm running SlimICS (haven't bothered upgrading to SlimBean since SlimICS has worked flawlessly for many many months with great battery life). I'm on Semaphore kernel.
Thanks in advance!
Fa

[Q] How do I get the "native" apps (phone, music player, ...)

I tested a Nexus 1 for a while - was very happy with it but bought a Samsung Galaxy instead.
I'm disappointed with all the Samsung-styled apps such as the phone app (contacts being a separate app), music player etc.
Is there a way to get the "native" apps into my I9000?
Or is there a ROM that has all the "original" apps?
I tried Darkys ROM - which in the newest edition has a keyboard similar to the Nexus 1 keyboard - much better than the Samsung breed. But the phone and music app are still the silly Samsung adaptions.
answering my own question - finally switched to Cyanogenmod and this has all the original Google apps on. Not sure though if it is not possible to just install the original Google apps via .apk files

[Q] Sixaxis Controller on Android 4.0.3

Hi all,
For people who dont know what it is, SixAxis Controller allows you to play games on Android with your PS3 controller. In the latest versions developers included touch emulation, which allow to play games like PES2012 with virtual keyboards.
So yesterday I tried SixAxis Controller 0.3.7...this is the resume of that experiment:
Install. OK
Check Compatibility. OK
Pair Controller. OK
Create a profile to PES2012. OK
Playing. FAILED (No response to controller inputs)
Does anyone tried SixAxis Controller on Nexus S?
Which OS version are you running?
Do you have this problem?
Best Regards
I've tried version 0.3.9 on my galaxy s and it works fine except for the touch profiles which don't seem to work at all!
Btw, I'm on teamhacksung building 12 of ics 4.0.3

Yep, tested 0.3.9 version and the touch profiles still dont work on nexus s 4.0.3 stock rom...
Same thing happened to me when playing gta
playing GTA3 from NS4G ics only gave me analog stick & d-pad control...I even downloaded premade controller maps that people claim work flawlessly and it still wouldn't work for me.
Doesn't work for me!!
I'm using teamhacksung build 15 on Samsung Galaxy S (GT-i9000).
I manage to connect the gamepads but there's no response in the games... any idea??
Worked ok on GTA III
It was a little unresponsive but I think its cause I only have like a gig left...slow....phone...
I'm having problems too.
My Dualshock can connect to my Nexus S, it works on my homescreen with moving, but when I want to play a game (Age of zombies, Nova 3) it doesn't work..

AllShare Control app?

Typical Samsung, they have released a remote tv app for their Smart TVs called Allshare Control.
It installs (Play claims it is compatible with the Note), then flops with the usual bad grammar "AllShare Framework does not installed, the application will exit". S3 users claim some success.
Thanks Samsung - why can't you make products that integrate? Ever heard of product integration? It's when products you make actually work together?
But then again, this is Samsung. Silly me, of course they can't.
These are the people who convinced me to buy a "Smart TV" with apps, like a browser. Er, how do I type? With those big arrow keys on your tv remote, of course!
Ever tried to enter text using one of these? Absolute joke, no it's worse than that, it's some form of primitive torture. Practically fraudulent it's so awful.
Anyone anywhere know if there's a way we can get the Note to interact with a new LED Samsung TV, with or without AllShare Control? Can we hijack the AllShare Framework from an S3?
No replies - but found an answer, entirely unofficial but brilliant SamyGoRemote. Works pretty well for text input, which is the killer app for tv browsing. Recommended.

Hi, I have Samsung UE40ES6100, the "samsung remote" app works, but there is no keyboard, and the slide/mouse works too slow. The "sammyGo remote" app doesn't seem to discover the TV. Are there any alike apps you know ?
P.S. I have an xperia neo, but I don't think that could be the problem

[Q] Looking for a media playing ROM for the Galaxy Ace

Hello! I am not new to the concept of modifying my Galaxy Ace. However, I switched to an HTC 8x. Because xbox music is such a pain to deal with and because Android is still my favorite, I've decided to keep my Ace, even though I won't be using it for anything but browsing and music. I'm looking for a stable ROM that plays media smoothly. I'm not looking for ICS, I really don't care what it looks like. Honestly, it doesn't even need to come with google apps installed. I am running Linux, so I cannot use Odin well enough to actually accomplish anything. Can anyone point me in the direction of a ROM that will work for this? If there is none, are there any programs for creating custom ROMs on Linux?
Stock roms or Custom Stock roms (Stocklite, Mcrage {audio enchancement already has incluided}, StockEvolution...) with audio enchancements (Beats Audio, Megabass and Beats...)

Music Player and Gallery Apps

Hey guys
I have recently rooted and flashed Semaphore ICS (4.0.4) on to my i9000. (this was such a hard task )
Anyways I followed the instructions; installed Google Apps etc.
However, only now, compared to the GB Music Player, is really really ugly and crappy?
Is there anyway to update this app or get the old one back?
I don't really want to use any other music player but will if i have to. I'm using Rocket Player as a substitute atm, but not really liking it...
On the GB gallery i was able to preview GIFS, now on the new OS, I cannot. Any fixes?
Thanks
