Alright guys this forum is pretty kickass and I was just wondering if anyone else could give me some insight to these weird quirks my Moto Droid4 is giving me.
Issues:
-Many apps that need to access SD card don't save properly i.e. TB gives insufficient storage error on scheduled backups, sometimes photos don't save correctly
-^^ Also related is sometimes when trying to connect as "Mass Storage Mode" via USB to my computer the device will lock up or when I try to write files to the SD card the transfer will lock up and the phone becomes almost unresonsive
-SD card and writing to the card becomes fickle if I ever mount and unmount, to the point where sometimes it won't mount until I reboot the phone
-Sometimes the phone will just become unresponsive altogether and exhibits periods where it will turn on the softkeys but the screen won't turn on. Hitting the hold button then ends up just toggling the softkeys.
I've tried:
-3 Different Roms now, all JB. Two different 4.2.1 and one 4.1
-Checking the SD Card with windows built-in disk checker and sector fixer. Everything "Passed"
-Turning off all CPU overclocking components and apps.
-Making sure newest Busybox and SU app is up to date and allowing all apps.
I think its the SD card but I don't see how the phone not turning its screen on or becoming sluggish could pertain to that.
Thoughts?
Thanks in advance guys :fingers-crossed:
Have you tried to back up all data of the SD card format the card put data back on and try again... my wife's RAZR did this and that fixed it...

I believe I have, but I will do it again as soon as I'm done with the Disk Checking for the 3rd time. Will post results
Completely nuked my internal storage and SD card, by formatting. It still does lockup everyone now and then and by that I mean it will blink a notification, and sometimes turn on the softkeys when I go to hit the hold button but the screen never comes on. sometimes the softkeys respond to me hitting hold and they go on and off but the screen won't it requires a reboot to fix. Is it the phone at this point?
Changed to a different SD card same model same brand and class and since then I have not experienced any of these problems. And I can rule out bad files on the card because I copied over everything from the other card straight to this one. Its been about 5 days with not one problem. I will give it 10 before I call it.

I am using Cyanogen 5.0.6 on my N1. I flashed it about 5 days ago.
Backstory: So I was connected to my car stereo via bluetooth on my way to work this morning when the songs stops playing. I then pressed the skip button on my receiver but nothing happened. I then looked at my phone and realized that it was off. I tried pressing the power button to turn it back on but that did not work. Then I removed the battery and then replaced it and pressed the power button. It turned on. The main problem became evident when I got to the home screen and it said "Blank SD card - SD card blank of has unsupported filesystem."
Is there a way to recover the data that was on this sd card? It is asking me to format the card, but I would rather recover the files if possible before formating. Also, is this a glitch with Cyanogen, the 5.0.6 ROM, Android 2.1 or something else?
If anyone could help me, I would greatly appreciate it.
No idea what could have caused it but as for recovering files just try one of the many programs out there.
Ive persoanlly had success wity a program called recova for windows
Thanks Phantom.
I had a spare memory card at home. It was full of videos so I had to format the card. Once it was formatted, I stuck it in the phone and rebooted. Everything was fine for about a half hour. I then loaded up some of my files that I wanted on the card, mainly just photos and documents. Then I thought I would go back to Cyanogen 5.0.5.3 so I loaded up the zip file on the root of the card and turned the phone off. When I went into bootloader it wouldn't recognize the card. So I was forced to restart the phone. Once it got to the home screen, a notification popped up saying that the SD card is damaged. [naturally there were expletives]. So now I have two SD cards that I cannot use on my phone. When I put the cards into a USB adapter, the computer only sees a few MB of the SD card and does not allow me to format.
I have now just about reached the limit of my computer knowledge.
The two main questions are:
1. What caused this?
2. How can I fix it?
Please keep in mind that I am a noob when it comes to most of this stuff so I would appreciate the help to be kept in layman's terms as much as possible.
Thank you!
This memory card has been used in my Nexus One Android running Froyo. I was using the phone last night (specifically FourSquare) and it froze up, I'm not sure if it was writing something to the micro sd but I removed the battery to restart the phone. When it restarted it said "checking memory card for errors", but after waiting for ten minutes nothing was recognized and I restarted it again, this time removing the sd card. Fast forward a few hours. I tried repeatedly different methods to get the phone to recognize it and finally gave up. I put an older memory card in the phone which worked just fine.
I have a usb micro sd reader and plugged it in to the mac. Usually iPhoto pops up but nothing happened. I ran disk utility to see if the memory card could be recognized and still nothing. I tried many free software programs but they all require the memory card to at least be recognized, which mine is not. Any Ideas? I've ran out of them. I just want a few pictures and a video but if thats not possible at least a way to reformat sd card for future use.
Cliffnotes: Card corrupted by android phone, no longer recognized by phone or mac os, tried several sd recovery programs to no avail, I just want the pics!
Sounds like it's not corrupted, it just died. Sorry dude. Time for a new card.
Had my 8 gig die the other night. Mine is recognized when I put it in my laptop but when ok try to copy any file, it can't access. It does see all of then though. I've been trying some recovery software but haven't had any luck so far.

Thanks. You're probably right. I guess this is where the iPhone has an advantage over us Android users. Permanent on board storage.

So if that storage goes out, you replace the whole phone. Sounds like quite the advantage...
Versus cheap expandable memory. Hmm.....
Ok I found a half satisfying solution. The sd card reader has a lock switch. When I click lock I am able to read everything, thus letting me copy it to my computer. I guess putting it in lock mode makes everything read only. The card is still dead, imo. No way to reformat it in this mode and removing the lock switch only reverts to my prior problem.

That means your card is dead. When a flash card dies, it cannot be written anymore, but it can still be read from because the data is still there, it's flash memory so its nonvolatile. By forcing it to read only mode, you should be able to recover your data, like you just did.
Awesome suggestion on setting to read only. It worked for me too. I'm happy to at least get the stuff off it, even if it's dead.
Everytime I put large files onto my SD card, say a movie or what not, and unmount it from the computer my nexus one starts running extremely slow.
The phone then goes into standby normally and I am then unable to wake it up. I figured it must be updating the files or something as I installed that led cpu usage app, so I left it overnight to do what it had to do.
In the morning I noticed the phone had become very hot and pushing the power button only made the bottom capacitive buttons light up. I resorted to taking out the battery and booting the phone again, the phone is still slow and then it goes back into the dreaded SOD (standby of death).
I tried formatting the sd card but the problems persist, after a while it tells me the sd card is corrupt. The only way to fix it I've found is to wipe the phone and re flash the rom.
This happens on a frequent basis now with the froyo roms, find myself wiping every second day.
Is this problem to do with my SD card? Is anyone else having this problem?
I am running FRF83 and had this problem since the first froyo leak. I have a class 6 8gb card.
Same problem here on FRF91
Some problem here on FRF91.
I am running SpeedMod Kernel K3-3 on stock LPY rom. On the lockscreen I use WidgetLocker (but problem also was happening before I installed this). Pretty much been happening since I installed SpeedMod.
When I click the home button the screen comes up fine. Sometimes I can go ahead and do the normal unlock procedure. Meaning I can grab the lock and drag/swipe to unlock and it works. BUT many many times (and possibly because of deep sleep) there is a delay. Basically my screen is frozen...I cant access the notification bar etc etc...and when the screen is about to blackout again (6-8 seconds) then I can swipe to unlock. So essentially there is a 6-8 delay many times from being able to actually swipe on my screen. Has anyone experienced this or have any advice on what to try. I have wiped my data from CWM already and still happens.
I was going to try and ask this under my rom in development but I don't have enough whatever it takes to post there. I have also searched and searched but didn't find this exact issue or a fix for it. I have seen tons of threads about the clicking of home button delay though.
Is this the 1st custom kernel you have used with stock ICS?
Have you tried any others like francos r6 as it seem to work fine with LPY roms?
first kernel I have tried. Maybe I will give Francos a shot. I have been reading a bit more and see that maybe it could be related to my SD card? Not sure why or how this could be but I understand that when it deep sleeps so does the SD card. I have nothing to my knowledge monitoring the SD card though so I dont know why it would freeze trying to access it.
unless your widget locker app is on your sd card i wouldnt see any reason for it to effect unlocking your phone.
The only thing I have really on my external SD card that is used by the phone is ringtones/notification/UI sounds. I have copied those over to the phones SD card and deleted the ones on the external SD card. Going to test this out to see if this worked.
UPDATE - that seems to have done it. Amazing. So I guess the bottom line is to not have anything that the phone system uses or needs on the External SD Card. Tones/Sounds/Wallpapers etc.
Thanks for helping olliesmith6121

happened to me as well, i noticed that widgetlocker was on external SD, and is doing the same problem as yours. I noticed it when widget locker is always closing when using usb storage, so i transferred widgetlocker on PHONE memory and it worked, no more delays and force closes whatsoever
Dammit problem started back up again. Definitely deep sleep has something to do with the issue.

Something weird happened today with my nexus one. I tried to start up an app (Bejeweled Blitz) which froze my phone completely, so 5 minutes later I removed the battery from the phone and started it back up. Now, certain things were missing off the phone, like airplane mode.. the home & search buttons wouldn't work.. my wallpaper had changed on its own to a default one.. and my homescreen had none of the app shortcuts on it. But my apps were all in the drawer, as far as I could tell.
but anyways, I plugged the phone into my computer via USB and clicked Turn on USB storage, but it would turn on for a second or less and then go back to the Turn on USB storage screen.
So I tried restoring factory settings, reformatting the memory card, making sure debugging mode is off, and all that. I also had windows check the memory card for errors by plugging it into a microSD card reader (There were no errors). But nothing I do fixes this problem. Any ideas? Is my microSD card broken now? Is Bejeweled Blitz evil?
Before all this happened, I was running CM 7.2 passion, and I had used mounts2sd to change the internal storage to about 990mb. Everything was fine for weeks, but this randomly happened.
Thanks to any who try to help.
EDIT: I don't know why I hadn't thought of it before, but I put a different microSD card in the phone and tried using USB mass storage. The same problem occurs, so the problem must be with the phone itself and not the microSD card. I have no idea what to do, because the phone is already at its factory default settings. Maybe the phone will just never be able to use USB storage mode again?
OKay, I have no idea what happened but everything is working perfectly fine now.
