Well the title pretty much says it all.. I dropped my old 16gb n7 on a trailer chain at work and borked the screen. I replaced it with a 32gb shortly after xmas and now the other is sitting on my night stand collecting dust, is there any thing I can do with it? As in life after death scenarios, or is my only option keep it or try and find a buyer?

I'd try and fix it and maybe sell I think that you can buy a new or refurbished screen and if you can get it fixed and are not asking to much for it I might be interested GBY

New digitizer costs the same as a used 8 gig one of sell it for parts or keep it incase you need to replace anything else later.
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
That's the problem. There going for so cheap now it is not worth fixing. I would just try and sell it for parts or hang on to it in case you need parts later on.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
Yeah sell it for parts, the 8gb used fully working go for about 150$
Should have got a 16 not the 8. Like no space left

Do you think it would be possible to buy and replace the back cover for this device. My dog bit my Nexus 7 and there are some bit marks on the back.
Dunno...any scratches on the screen?
Give it some time but I am sure we will see a couple third party backs. Saw one on eBay already but didn't trust the seller.

You can always get a skin to put on it. I saw some cool looking ones on Amazon or eBay and was going to go that route until I opted for the keyboard case.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Nope the scree is fine. Which is suprising cause he was going at it pretty hard.

Did you have jelly bean wallpaper on lol

I saw a back cover for sale on ebay. I'm sure there's going to be plenty more for sale when the unit is actually released. I'm waiting for a nexus 7 tear down. I also want to know if the plastic rim around the tablet can be replaced as well. I kind of dented it and was wondering if it can be purchased.
That's one way to fix the screen seperation issue.
Parts...

Any word on this in the last few months? Just checking to see if there has been any movement on this yet.
EBay is your friend

Yeah i was checking periodically apparently they have them now, but none with glass and the lcd and the digitizer for less that 200 it appears. Will keep looking.
Has anyone purchased a replacement LCD from ebay lately?
There is some at alibaba.com for a bit less

For the amount of money and hassle it was going to cost to get a replacement and fit it I just bought a new tablet and put the other one out of its misery with a rubber mallet.

I have an 8gb WiFi model, and would like to upgrade.
I could get $55 from GameStop for it, although I will see if any friend would buy it for maybe $85.
Any ideas?
I will buy someones 8gb for $50 if its still in good shape. I have a feeling the price will plummet on the older versions once the new ones are released.
They are already selling for as low as $100 on swappa. I'd imagine they will drop further ones the 2nd gen is released.
Id def buy a 1st gen for $75 for my son to play with, to keep him off my 2nd gen of course. Our nook color isn't cutting it anymore.

I already have bits on my 16gb version for $200 on my local Craigslist... Buyer lined up tomorrow... I almost feel bad, but he's getting a lot of other things with it.

I'm going to wait and see the specs, and if 4.3 will help with the lockups and lag in my current Nexus. While better, the specs leaked have been kind of weird.

I'm still on the fence about upgrading. I just bought my N7 about 2 weeks ago BNIB for pretty cheap so I'm a little late to the party.
Besides some QC issues the original N7 has been good to me so far
I have accidental on my nexus with Staples. When the time comes BAM water will fall on my nexus and a $200 gift card will come my way

Nah. The new 7 doesn't sound too exciting compared to current N7.

I'd like to get the new Nexus but I'm not sure it's much better than the 16gb one I have now. I need to get a new phone soon and I think I might save my tech upgrade cash for that.

Phone is def priority, but if the N7 specs are true it will be a huge upgrade. Sure its still going to be vanilla android and do all the things your current N7 does, but it will be much much faster.
If I had a 1st gen I probably wouldn't upgrade either, besides a boast in specs, its not like the 2nd gen has any must have features over the 1st gen.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Given the price point, I'm liable to sell and upgrade.
Gonna keep, the n7 is so cheap you can't get much money for it.
if i sell my 32gb wifi i think i'll only get 120 euro's for it (payed 195 for it)
so if i upgrade (it's a big if, becausen i only got this one just a few months) i gonna give my old n7 away for free (proberly to my parents)
I have 2 I threw up for sale on Swappa last night
One is Brand new never used and the other is mine that is prestine. Asking $175 for either and got nothing yet.
Pity. I'm in no rush though.

They seem to be selling for slightly more on eBay than on swappa.

I sold mine on Ebay last night. £131 Posted in the UK for the 32gb Version. With damage
Awaits new model...
I've got a 16gb model I just bought a few months ago that I might flip. Seems like the upgrade would be worth it.
8 GB I bought at launch. Ready for an upgrade if only for added storage.

Nope
Mine still runs fine, what is the point really?
Isn't there at least one huge thread on this exact topic???

Nah my N7 is great. I wouldn't mind the rear camera though

You wouldn't make enough money back. The change from the old to the new isn't exactly warranted for the price. Isn't it 230? I paid 200 for mine and it's insured til 2015 of March.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Nah, not different enough for an upgrade. Good for new buyers though.
I just sold mine to a family member at $150 getting the new N7 in a few days.

I'd sell mine in a heartbeat if I could get $150 for it. I checked a couple places on Friday and the best price for "trade-in" was $65. I'm not giving it up for that.

Bought my N7 for £185. Sold it a month or so ago for £130 - before the announcement of a new N7 dented the resale value some more.
That's £50 to have a Nexus 7 for about a year which is a bargain.
Might buy a new N7, might not. My HTC One is fulfilling a lot of my app needs.
If I did buy another tablet it would probably be a 10" one.
I would sell it but not many people want the old one now that the new one has been released
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
I did, and I'm glad I did. The new one is better in every way.
I don't have an old N7, but I'm considering selling my ipad mini for a new N7.

Don't consider that option, just do it. The Nexus tablets are better in every way imaginable. Besides, you'll have money left over and can buy a keyboard case or an additional warranty on your Nexus 7. Or go out to dinner, lol.

If it had a better screen, maybe. Current iPad mini is crap
I would like to upgrade to the 7.2 but my wife won't allow it as it's still running fine and dandy.
TBH I only want it for the screen.
Sent from my Nexus 7
while i think the new N7 is a great deal, i think i'm going to skip this one. based on my usage of the first gen model, it still gets the job done. at their price point it certainly makes upgrading every year feasible, but i think i'm going to wait until v3 to upgrade again.
Nope, I'm not. (;
The only thing I'm jealous about the new one, is that it has a notification LED.. Except this, no need to upgrade...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Stickin with my trusty nexus 7. Still gets the job done so no reason to upgrade.
