Make MyScript Calculator work. But how? - Nook Touch Themes and Apps

Hello,
Browsing some sites, i have stumbled upon this particular app https://play.google.com/store/apps/...l=pl&rdid=com.visionobjects.calculator&rdot=1
It looks very interesting, so i wanted to check, how it performs on my nook.
Firstly, Play Store says "incompatible". But this is not how i used to work out - some apps work, even they are not supported on Market.
But it is; it does not install, so i tried using adb. The issue is, while installation, in cannot find shared library "com.sec.android.app.multiwindow".
Any ideas?

[Q] Google Books App not working

Ok, so I did the Supernooter, ran the Script everything came out a-workin. I got on market and installed Google Books and it links to my account, loads the app for a second, and before any of the covers can load it leaves my nook as quickly as it came.
So 2 independent questions:
1. This happen to anyone else?
2. How do I make it not happen to me?
Thanks
Yes it is happening to me too. Interestingly before I loaded the Android Market, I had side loaded the books app. That didn't work either, the app did at least stay open but it just showed 0 google accounts.
Also my youtube app (part of the process for installing the market) no longer works either, it exhibits the same behavior as the books app (auto closes soon after opening) It did work the first time I opened it when I signed into my google account.
One of my main reasons for rooting my NC was to load the books app. It may sound dumb but I had already purchased like 4 books from Google and I like how there browser reader works so I prefer them to Barnes and Noble or Kindle for that matter. I bought the NC because of the purported compatibility with with Google Books but I am not at all impressed with that procedure and usability.
Anyway hope this can get figured out soon.
Last night after installing the market, gmail, youtube etc... I installed Google Books. It behaved just as you described.
This morning... it works. It just finished downloading Pride and Prejudice just now
Only two things I can think of between last night and this morning:
1) Possibly the Google ebook server(s) were down, causing the local reader app to crash
2) I rebooted the Nook
Regarding the Youtube app - you will need to uninstall Youtube and reinstall it. Once reinstalled it works fine.
Well I am jealous.
Still no go for me. I will try removing it again. Is yours working even after a reboot?
Yep, rebooted again and still works.
As a second test I went to Google's website, purchased a free Sherlock Holmes book and the Nook downloaded it right away. I'm on page 1!
It's a shame the Google reader doesn't read local book files though...
Good news!
Mine is now working.
After rooting and adding the market, I removed both the youtube app and the books app. Rebooted. Then loaded youtube. Rebooted made sure it worked (which it did)
Then I loaded Google Books and it worked! and has continued ever since.
Super happy.

Market Issues Lately - Possibly Not Rom Relatedd

It seems like a lot of people(including myself) have been having Market Issues lately on both the Froyo & HoneyComb roms. (not sure if rooted stock Nook users were seeing this to this week)
I think that Google has been making changes to the backend of the market.
Tuesday night I noticed that X-Plane was available to me in market where the previous few days searched for it would come up empty.
Yesterday i manually installed Evernote & Sugarsync because I could not find them in the marke either and I also noticed I had an older version of Xscope.
Last night, I did another round of Force Stop Google.Framework/Clear Data....Force Stop Market/Clear cache and then all of sudden all these apps reappeared in the market!
So if you have been having similar issues this week I suggest another round of the Force Stop Google.Framework/Clear Data....Force Stop Market/Clear cache. I did do mine with a round of some nice Bourbon Oak Aged Stout Beer called Heresy but not sure if this helped MArket at all But it did help me!
I am using Market Enabler with the Verizon setting(and have been using all week)
One thing i notice different in Portrait Market is on Nookie Froyo its says Apps - Game - My Apps and on my DroidX it says Apps - Games - Verizon on top.
Hopefully today I can mess with copy some of the setting from my DroidX build.prop to the Nook to see if this changes market behavior at all.
Does anyone now what settings Market Enabler is making and where?
I have been having trouble with the market as well, but it seems related to a "google talk authentication failed" error. STILL cant download apps though, its frustrating.
I just installed the HC and when I tried to DL from the marketplace, I looked over at my phone, an HTC hero, the DL was coming in there???? Tried to use another gmail account, "no device associated to this account" This makes HC useless. Anyone got a clear fix?
well for me i cant even download off the market with my NC it says its downloading but does nothing.
This has zero to do with the Nook Color, it's happening on all devices.
I have to say, some of it IS nook related.
The problem I'm seeing is that some apps do not see the Nook as a compatible device.
Take evernote for example.
I can't find it in the market, so I go to the evernote website, which points me back to the market, web version. When I am forced to choose a device, it then tells me that the device is not compatible.
How are people getting around this?

Well for me i had to install Applanet and download it, it works fine on the book. And also that's the only way i can download apps because the market doesn't work for me.

That's a completely different issue.

I'd have to respectfully disagree that its a completely different issue, at least not for everyone.
OP's issue is not a problem of downloading/installing apps, its finding apps.
I just tried all the apps the OP listed, and I found X-Plane, but can't find Evernote, Sugarsync, (nor Facebook).
I think that a lot of people will not find the apps they want, and think its a Market issue with their hacked device, but in reality its a problem with device compatibility checks from Google.
Thanks for the Applanet idea, I'm going to try that.
I have had lots of apps were missing for me (most notably Facebook for android) in the market occasionally. I have found that this seems to happen from time to time. In trying to buy directly off the android market site on my computer, it tells me my Nook is incompatible with the apps I am looking for (though I know it is not). The fix though, is simple ( all credit to ViralCipher)

Sometimes you have to do it more than once, but rarely.
I Use Customized Nookie Froyo 0.6.8 from the emmc.

applanet[dot]net
how I did it. I hate it, because I love to support the developers so cheating them like this sucks. I usually go to their website later and donate

Thanks! This worked!
I did this step when I had the application download errors, and didnt think doing it again would restore access to certain apps, but hey, whatever works!

[Q] App download

Is there a way to download apps directly to my PC, instead of the Nook?
There are some apps that are "not compatible" in the market, but several times when I get them as standalone apk, I can install them and get them to run on the nook!
hello
i have some thing like that problem i download app from internet like acrobat reader for android and this app is in my download but when i hit it say error and didnt install
can any body help me?
http://tinyurl.com/3gnvuzq
or even EzPDF or mantano cuz it is way better.
http://tinyurl.com/4xqlw6x i know it is a bit "warezzy" but comparing to other it really doesn't have many of these illegal apps (not even 1% of their huge database). It is better than amazon appstore, because it both downloads and installs apps, instead of just downloading (root needed).
Felt a bit retarded looking at the solution... :S
It is just a bit obnoxious to download all the free software by looking at google, but considering the solution of installing android SDK, emulator, a rom with market, etc. - as I've recently seen on the internet - in order to find the appropriate apk, I think it is way better to google or use the black-mart app - even though I'm looking more for a way to circumvent device compatibility...
Thanks, domi.nos
BTW, whenever you do a search for an apk, lots of time you get to market links, and takes you back to the old android market - which is more than 75% of the links I get to find...
For me, the easiest way to install apps is threw market.android.com . I haven't had the problems i ran into using the app on the nook itself. When you hit the "Send to" button it just says "Phone" and will push to your nook.

[Q] Sideloading + Missing Shared Library

Nook HD is not rooted but ADB is up and running and I have sideloaded several apps. Attempting to install an app called "Pair" (texting app that also uses map and gps location) causes an error that says install failed missing shared library. After doing some research, I think it is related to Google maps so I sideloaded that app and it did not change the problem. I have looked for some kind of answer or solution but haven't found one. Anyone know how to fix this?

Don't know for sure but my guess would be you need to root and add GAPPS, that there may be some location library needed in the overall package. I would be surprised if your sideloaded MAPS worked, I know that didn't work earlier...

[Q] Assassin's Creed IV Companion App - Compatibility

Has anyone figured out how to get the AC4 Companion app to work on the TouchPad running Android 4.4 with the 3.4 kernel?
I just learned about the app myself, and have never had it on a "droided" Touchpad, but was definitely interested in trying to get this to work.
I've been following some of the various posts on the web that the app only works with a limited number of devices. The app can't be found on the PlayStore directly with the TouchPad. You have to go to other forums to find the APK and OBB files to install. I've tried most of the workarounds to know avail.
Play Store link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ubisoft.assassin.blackflag
My overall challenge is that the program attempts to start, and then given an error that it appears "you did not purchase the app from the Play Store".
Workaround 1: Setting DPI to 200
I have tried this within the build.prop file directly, as well as installing Xposed Framework and tieing the apk to kick off with a default DPI of 200. No joy
Workaround 2: Tweaking Heapsize values in build.prop file
The workaround calls for these two values:
* dalvik.vm.heapgrowthlimit=64m
* dalvik.vm.heapsize=256m
Again, no joy.
Here's the site where I've been getting my hands on the APK and OBB files for the install:
http://wiiare.in/12141-assassins-creed-4-companion-app-fur-androidios/
(PS - I don't read German, so the rest of the page may have more details, but it's totally unreadable to me.)
I've checked several other forums, but have found new good solution to get this working specifically on the TouchPad.
Any thoughts or ideas out there?
--McBean
I've done it on a JC Sullins ROM (which i think is Android 4.2.2) but I basically had to be sneaky about it, download it from a site other than the Play Store, copy a large file of data and then run the APK. Took a couple tries but it worked fine eventually. I don't feel bad about it as it is a free app, but as you say, it won't appear on the Play Store through the Touchpad. Looks like they are allowing app devs to narrow the range of devices their app will be available to install on which really sucks if you ask me.
Edit: oh gee, your link had the instructions and I didn't know, so I didn't have to explain it.
