Hello!
I'm new to the ROM upgrading buisness, just got my new ENERGY ROM installed!
I used the HSPL method, now i was wondering if my phone's preformance will be better with an HTC SPL compatible with my ROM
if so how can i change it and where will i find that SPL?
Thank you in Advance,

Please do not start new threads for questions that are best treated in the threads specifically dealing with flashing. There are specific threads for HSPL, USPL and a Tutorial discussing and explaining both.
An official spl will not work (unless it is 1.54.0000) but you will still need to use USPL in that case to keep the spl. That being said however, AFAIK the spl will not have any performance related enhancements to the device unless of course you have the wrong one, in which case the performance will be negatively affected.
You have the choice of either using HSPL or USPL for flashing new roms. As you have chosen HSPL this permanently replaces the standard spl (it can be reversed though).
With USPL, the way I understand it (have not tried it myself as I use HSPL), you first upgrade to an official spl - 1.54.0000, and then using UPSL this allows you to "crack" the standard spl to flash a new rom and each time you flash you need to repeat the process.
The difference between USPL and HSPL:
* HSPL is an user-modified SPL that you have to flash to your phone. It overwrites the existing SPL on your device with a "hacked" one so to say. It allows you to bypass the HTC certificate check and flash unsigned or CID-mismatching roms to your phone. You only have to flash it once and then you can flash roms anytime.
* USPL is a temporary solution. It takes advantage of an exploit in the existing SPL and then loads a modified one to memory, effectively allowing the same thing as HSPL. However, since this is only memory-resident you have to do it each time you want to flash unsigned or CID-mismatching roms to your phone, because this exploited state is lost upon reboot. With USPL you must still have the right version of the HTC SPL that is compatible with the rom you want to use.

To unlock your device you have to downgrade your SPL to at or below 3.xxx and then install RSPL/HSPL and then you can flash a custom rom of your choice.
These are the only methods to downgrade your SPL -
1. Goldcard/ Y cable method - requires a Y cable, either home made or purchased. SD card and a card reader or a flash drive and download a goldcard tool and a stock/shipped Pre-NoDo/NoDo specific rom.
2. Zune restore point by Zubair- if you updated your device from a Pre-Mango state through Zune and still have the PC you did it on, then you can restore your device and then re-update it to Mango again and it will change your SPL to 4.xxx then you can use Shadows tutorial to finish downgrading the device.
3. SLSPL rom by Ansar - This works on Europe devices with firmware revision number .401 and can work on SIM unlocked TMobile devices.
Just follow Shadow's tutorial on downgrading SPL, flashing XSPL and installing roms. It has all the links for the above methods, stock/shipped roms and everything you'll need.

If you need any help or have any questions, just let me know!
Hi All,
I need your help in deciding what are my options.
I have read many posts and ended up confused (no offence meant) because of my situation.
Some posts that are similar are too old as my condition has changed since then.
I will try to give as much info before asking, so here it goes:
System Info-
Model: HTC HD7 T9292 from T-Mobile
Software: Windows Phone 7.5
OS Version: 7.10.8773.98
Firmware revision number: 2250.21.51101.206
Hardware revision number: 0002
Radio software version: 5.71.09.02a_22.51.50.21U
Radio hardware version: A.12.0.D4
Bootloader Version: 5.11.2250.0(134400)
Chip SOC version: 2.2.5.0
History:
I installed some custom rom last year. Now, when the phone starts, I see O2 Welcome message. I think I have a official ROM as per that splash of O2.
Issues:
Lately, the cellular reception has drastically deteriorated.
GPS does not show accurate location and takes a few tries of opening the Locations app and pressing the locate me option.
Unable to find an awesome solution as a GPS app, as i can't afford to use data all the time, it costs a lot in New Zealand.
Question:
- I want to know if I can make my WP7 experience any better or its too late as i updated my phone to Mango.
- Can someone please take time to go through and just post the links to the steps that I can perform without damaging anything.
- I want to be able to install apps, XAP's, make changes to improve performance and better radio for reception.
I have seen posts on threads, but still confused which are the right steps to be followed as everyone's phone, updates installed, ROM's installed are different. I deeply acknowledge everyone's hardwork, and time spent to read and make posts, and apologize if i am being duplicative, but just looking for right info and steps that would make things understandable for me.
Many Thanks,
you may use the Goldcard method to revert back to another ROM. e.g. TMOUS Shipped ROM

Sure, I can revert, but want to know if I revert to the shipped ROM, what process do I follow from there on to get a custom ROM e.g. deepshining, and will that also allow me to sideload apps (xap installs).

see the tutorial I wrote, link in my signature.
and yes, all the Schubert Custom ROMs have at least Dev Unlock, whic allows XAP sideloading.

Thanks a lot for the Info.
I saw the links, just want to confirm i am heading right.
I would follow the process and install the Pre-NoDo ROM as below:
TMOUS 1.54.531.02 HTC HD7 7.0.7004.0 2250.09.15402.531
After flashing this ROM on, I can flash it to the custom ROM from deepshining, which would include the latest radio too. (please add on any suggestions you have on the version so that I choose the right one)
By doing this, I would have the latest WP7 version, latest radio, and ability to install .xap files.
As soon as you confirm, I will complete the said tasks and update with the results.
PS: Please correct me if I am wrong somewhere.
Thank You for being a great help
after Goldcard method, you need to XSPL before flashing a Custom ROM.
Thanks for the info.
Would I have to do the XSPL or HSPL.
Also want your suggestions on the radio, if i should install it seperate or does the deepshining Rom include a good radio already.
I will make a Y cable and follow the Goldcard method. Can't we use a SDHC card for doing the goldcard?
XSPL = RSPL and HSPL
RSPL is reloaded SPL. Meaning that it's not permanently flashed to the device and will reset to OSPL (original SPL) after you flash the rom or if the device is rebooted.
HSPL is hard SPL. Meaning that it is permanently flashed to the device, replaces OSPL and will stay after flashing a rom.
If you only install RSPL, everytime you flash a new rom or a updated rom version you will have to put the device into bootloader mode and connect it to the PC and reinstall RSPL to the device and while it's still in bootloader mode, flash the new or updated rom version.
If you install HSPL to the device and want to install a new or updated rom version, you just have to put the device into bootloader mode and connect to the PC and flash the new/updated rom version. You don't have to do a reinstall. HSPL is much easier and can still be returned to OSPL if needed to be.
To install XSPL - First you need to install RSPL to the device. Put the device into bootloader mode and connect to the PC (wait and allow it to install the Qualcomm drivers) open and run the RSPL wizard, choose the closest RSPL version to your devices SPL version (eg. If SPL version is 1.10 and the closest RSPL version is 1.12 choose that version) and install RSPL to the device, once RSPL is successfully installed make sure that the SPL on the bootloader screen changes from SPL to RSPL, and if you want to install HSPL, keep the device connected, close the RSPL wizard and open and run the HSPL wizard, choose the closest HSPL version to the devices RSPL version and install. Once HSPL is successfully installed make sure that the RSPL on the bootloader screen changes from RSPL to HSPL. Keep the device connected and close the HSPL wizard, open the custom rom file and double click on the ruuwrapper (rom update utility wrapper) follow the prompts on the screen, flash the rom to the device and enjoy.
If you're not gonna install HSPL, once the RSPL is successfully installed keep the device connected to the PC, close the RSPL wizard and open the custom rom file and double click on the ruuwrapper and follow the prompts on the screen and flash the rom to the device.
Most custom roms have a recommended radio version and are included in the rom and will be installed when flashing the rom. Deepshining has one packaged with it.
SDHC cards will work... Make sure it's a 1gb - 2gb SD card and formatted to FAT32. Larger SD cards can work but need to be partitioned down to 1gb.
I want to install HSPL to be able to install custom ROM dynamics v2.0. But, it says you should not continue if you have SPL version 4.xxx or 5.xxx. I should have1.xx, 2.xx, or 3.xx to install the HSPL.
I came to know another solution to the problem by downgrading the SPL using NoDo.
What should I do? Can i install HSPL after downgrading my HSPL version using NoDo? Will that brick my phone?
My plan is to use NoDo to first downgrade my SPL from 5.xx to anything that is supportedby the HSPL, then I'll install HSPL by DFT, and then finally install a custom ROM called Dynamics v2.0.
Should I go through the whole process for installing a custom ROM on my phone?
Do let me know if you want to know something about the phone like the OS version, exact SPL version, etc
Have you searched for it?
You must use Y-Cable and the goldcard method... It is written in several threads, I recommend you "noobs guide no android", search for it I won't give you any lazy link...
