[ROM] RevOidOptT for Optimus T USA [Wifi Calling, fixed MMS, more]

I felt there was a need for an updated rom dedicated to the Optimus T (USA). I could not find a proper rom with both Wifi Calling and fully-functioning MMS.
Thus, RevOidOptT was born.
Wifi Calling works beautifully and full-size MMS can be sent/received. Also, I incorporated google setup on first boot and edited build.prop to fix locale, currency, and date/time issues.
This is based off Neojn's devoid froyo final and most of the credit goes to him. Thanks, Neojn!

IMPORTANT NOTES:
-I am not responsible for bricked devices or any other issues associated with flashing this rom.
-STOCK MMS HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH GO SMS PRO IN ORDER TO FIX MMS SIZING ISSUES ON THE T-MOBILE USA NETWORK. IN ORDER TO SEND/RECEIVE MESSAGES, TAKE THE FOLLOWING STEPS:
1. OPEN GOSMS, HIT MENU BUTTON AND GO TO SETTINGS. THEN, GO TO IMPORTANT TIPS AND SELECT 'Stock SMS uninstalled?'
2. GO BACK TO SETTINGS, SELECT MMS SETTINGS AND SELECT 'Preserve image resolution'
This should give you fully-functional, full-sized MMS. Joy! Joy! Joy!
ALSO, All other messaging apps work with GO SMS installed, regardless of whether stock MMS is present. So feel free to use any messaging app you'd like. (Just be sure the steps above have been taken)

franco.Kernel.v18.1-cfs (Clocked at 600/245 smartass by default. I suggest switching to 748/320 interactivex for optimal speed/battery combination)
Added apps:
noFrills CPU
BatteryCalibration (run after flashing ROM and fully charging phone to optimize battery life)
Added essential sapps
Wifi Calling
Calculator
Calendar

LG Keyboard to GB Keyboard
Stock Gallery to Quickpic (much cleaner/faster)

FileManager to FileExpert (very excellent substitute for those that want root access without paying for Root Explorer)
Theme:
SuperBlue Theme v5 (changed boot animation to android particles and removed wallpaper)
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Download RevOidOptT
2. Do NAND backup (not required but HIGHLY recommended)
3. Wipe everything (data, cache, dalvik cache, battery stats, etc.)
4. Flash RevOidOptT
5. Reboot
6. After going through setup, it will force close, just keep going (only a first-time setup bug)
7. Follow instructions above regarding GO SMS Pro settings
8. May have to clear Market cache in order to get apps to show up in 'My apps"
9. Enjoy

General rule is: It's fine as long as you give credit to the people who did any work that you are using. Kernels, roms, apps, scripts etc, if someone else put their time and effort into it, you should credit + thank them, ideally with a link to where it came from.

Ha good question. Just the app changes I noted and the fixed mms. Plus the theme/kernel for those that want a quick fresh install. Mostly tried to package together a rom that is fully loaded (minus some gapps) for the average user that just wants to flash and go without extra hassle.

Question: did you make any adjustments to avoid the phone defaulting to british currency and location? It may be the franco.devoid that I am running, but I would imagine all versions are the same in that respect. Morelocale2 app fixes this, but I would still like to find a code/setting fix.

Locale, currency, etc. are fixed by my incorporation of google setup on first boot. So yes I did do something about it.

I guess this is about as good as it gets for me! I have to have the wifi app when in the US. Have really bad reception at home and no bars most of the time... hoping for a 2.3 update though!

Does bt work? I use bt constantly to listen to podcasts and audio books. No stereo bt would be a big deal breaker for me.

Answered my own question. I've used the BT in every scenario I can think of and it works flawlessly. I think I'll be keeping this as my daily driver.

You can add WiFi calling to the Optimus T on any 2.2 - 2.2.2 rom for the 01.

Strangest thing.... Was on CNA, decided to try ICSSGS, didn't like it as well so flashed back and calendar was there. I assume because I did not wipe on the flash back to CNA?
FWIW, I have tried this, ICSSGS, and CM9. CNA is my favorite. I have had almost no issues. 1 app won't run, but it is from my small, local bank.

That issue is fixed on ICSSGS and maybe others, I'm not certain if it involves some adjustments ROM-side, or it should be fixed by using latest gapps. I previously encountered the issue but haven't seen it in quite some time.
The alternative would be buying them in the browser/pc.

I'm coming from Serendipity VII, which if I understand correctly is I9000 based. Just to make sure I understand what I'm doing, I should just be able to reboot to recovery, and install the CNA ROM from the zip file, correct? Any other steps necessary?

I got it installed (with the Glitch kernel - running at 1.4Ghz so far), and I'm very impressed
The only issue I haven't yet been able to figure out is the external SD card. It seems that it now gets mounted under /mnt/emmc/ ? For whatever reason, the music player can't find the media that I have on the external SD card. Any ideas? I can find it using ES File Explorer and play the files individually.

Privacy
There has been an ever-increasing number of apps which want access to private information (like call logs, location, and contact information) without needing it to run the application. I'm talking about games and not apps which require such information like Anti-virus and such. Will we ever have a permission manager a la MIUI on this ROM? I understand that many developers work in concert, so I am wondering why most ROM's are not created with safeguards in place to protect private information. I am aware that I am not in the MIUI Q&A section, but I feel this is an issue that all ROM's should consider in order to protect private information. I know that I don't have to install apps which ask for this information if I don't want to give up my information, but it seems that every app nowadays asks for these permissions and it would be a shame to continue as if there were nothing wrong with compromising private information to play a game.

I was one if the unlucky ones that had no 3g data after flashing this rom, flashed glitch, moved apn-conf.XML to the /system/etc/ directory overwriting the old file.
This did not bring data back. I decided to look at the apn list and noticed that it was blank. Clicked the menu button, then selected reset to defaults. Ten minutes later I had data.

Lock Screen
Has the lock screen been updated to allow for custom applications where it shows the icon of the custom application instead of that alien looking character? This was one of the reasons I moved away from this ROM and would love to come back. I'm not a fan of having to try to remember which application ties to which alien character.

Not yet. It still shows the animated android.
Nostalgia shows the custom icons on the ICS lock screen. (haven't flashed any other ICS roms yet.)
Update 3/24:
All aosp roms do not show custom icons.
All aokp based roms do show custom icons.
aosp also seems a little laggier than aokp. Playing angry birds space @ 1.3 ghz resulted in click and audio lag. (Gummy charged was my aosp test platform at that time).
Docs runs blazing fast at same speed with no click lag. Aokp m28 clocked at 800 MHz / glitch runs smooth. I think this is because of the scrolling cache which I force disabled in from control.

Any way to disable the proximity sensor in this rom? The thing is the cappy i purchased came with that sensor dead.. This makes the phone freeze while making calls for example.. I'm using right now MIUI 2.3.2 Gingerbread 2.3.7 and I can disable it with almost no effort at all..

Sorry but I don't really see how the rotation would be related to the proximity sensor functionalities. I could try that, but I would be more than grateful if you could explain me a little further the relationship between those two.. Anyways I have to download the rom, nandroid backup, and flash everything to test it out.

you are correct, the proximity sensor does not control rotation. a bit a of a flub on my part sorry.
here are some things I tried with my AOKP rom (don't think the AOSP - CNA is too much different?)
1) There is no setting in the call menu for the proximity sensor.
2) However if you cover your sensor (which is broken anyways right?) a dab of black nail polish, to block all the light from it. I covered my sensor with my thumb and the screen stayed on. However if the problem is deeper within your hardware (possibly the control IC for the sensor), it will still lock up when it tries to access the current state of the sensor.
3) It's possible from what I've found that your sensor is okay, and that there is an internal blockage to the sensor cover. (though, my phone didn't lock up with the sensor covered?). Try canned air/ Vacuum to clear the blockage?
4) There are a several application options as none of the ICS roms I've used appear to have that MIUI option.

[ROM] Sense 3.5 based port (2.3.5)

This is a sense 3.5 port for HTC Legend from the same dev team who ported MIUI, Lewa and so many other ROMs for HTC Legend. Credit goes to them. This ROM is still not fully functional and yes there are some bugs and Chinese parts.
Everything works except for WiFi and Bluetooth. Interface is super smooth and fast. Hope Devs from our forum can fix the bugs and make this fully functional. Give it a try if you are a sense lover. Hit the thanks button if i helped

This ROM has some features of sense 4. But have to wait and see

rom sucks because it has been stripped of most of the htc sense like gallery browser certain widgets its like useing cm7 with a special theme

Its way to smooth... awesome work team..
all we want is that WiFi n Bluetooth working. Its like a dream come true for my legend...

Really Nice Rom!!! Smooth and everything, have not had any random Fc's of any app or from another task. What I really miss is the wifi since right now I dont have a data plan, but let us hope it gets fix soon. Thanks to the developers on this.

This is my second day of using this fabulous ROM. I have observed below issues apart from WiFi and Bluetooth problem which has already been reported :
1. Play store crashes.
2. Chinese language not fully converted to English on many screens.
3. Calculator app resolution needs correction
4. Sense gallery and browser required
5. Camera app gets stuck when clicked on preview
6. Sense music widget is missing
Hoping for dev team to join their hands to improve this wonderfull ROM.

MARKET FIX !!!!!!!
Play store/market problem can be resolved.
just flash the gapps.sign in using your gmail[if you already done just skip it].install the titanium back up and remove the playstore/market.install the moded version http://www.MegaShare.com/4199830 [you can use the normal version too ]
after that wipe data and convert the playstore/market to system app.
for me its working ,check it and tell me its working or not....

One more issue is that music player glitches while playing music and unlocking the device or opening other apps.

Hi,
I'm interested in fixing the wifi for this but logcat does not work, which makes it hard for me to find what the problem is. In my research I've found that the dev needs to enable debug or logging in the kernel for logcat to work, so I was just wondering if you were able to do this.
EDIT: Swapped the boot.img for ogo2's. Enables logcat but brings with it more problems Won't stop bootlooping.

I'm using this ROM without problems, I only noticed the battery last very little (almost 15/16 hours) compared to CM7.2 stable (more than 24h). Mobile data turned on, almost 15minutes call a day, two or three sms and some web navigation or visit to Play Store. A part from this little battery issue I really appreciate this ROM, good work!!!
PS. I'd really like a data toggle too

Update: I've updated flashing the file via CWM. Now I don't find the toggle. Should it be in "Settings-Rom Control-Status Bar-Customize Toggle" right? There's no Data or 2G toggle.

Voice call volume
Unfortunately I got an extremely low volum during voice call, I can barely listen to the other person. I tried boosting the volume via AwesomeBeast (founded here on XDA), but still too low. With CM7.2 the volume was really ok, and with DSPManager even better. Can you please look at it? Thanks

Havent problems with whatsapp on dalvik.

but ABBamp sound contoll is an application, a function to be activated, I want some explanations about it.

I am having a weird bug in ABBamp.
It works just fine (and great btw), but when I come back to my home screen it is disabled and my volume level go down. If I go back to the app, turn the screen off or into any other app, it enables again and my volume is restored.
This bug happens in:
Next Launcher (my daily driver) - Through all the app
Google Now Launcher - Only on home screen. As soon as I open the menu the volume goes back.
On Trebuchet, GO launcher, ADW Launcher, Turbo Launcher - No problems at all

2G network changes in 3G automatically
Normaly my phone works with 2G-network.
I set this up: --> system --> Mobile network --> networktype --> I chooce for 2G.
However the phone/rom itself changes this regulary in 3G.
Can someone tell me how I can make sure that the setting stays at 2G ??
I use PAC-rom now for one day - fine rom !
Before I use the rom Roni-v3 and there this didn't happen.

No sound in .dev releases
Hey. So I have a question:
With the .dev releases (mainly 9-11-2014) i haven't got sound - I cannot play music, use phone app or anything related to the audio. Wiping cache & dalvik didn't help. What can I do to restore music?

Yeah, this xda-guys are doing strange things...
Most of the threads I signed now have this 'Q&A-thread' added; it's a little too much IMO.

Thats "normal" in custom roms, you need to set in 2G again after a reboot

Now im not using any init.d tweak, but before i was using sysctl, batery tweaks and touch tweaks

If you update from a release before November, you need perform a clean install. If no you can lost all sound and of course call also have a slow boot.

Hey I am having only one problem with this rom the phone connects and disconnects when I connect it to my laptop anyone else having this problem? I am using the latest reléase and dalvik

Thats related to ABBamp, you can try disable sounds when connect to PC or install kernel option 2.

Thank you! I did fix it with what you said now everything works for me at least great rom

The phone, however, in the last two versions have quite considerable delays, when changing the state of the connection, ie, when switching between WiFi and data connection, and on the contrary, but only when changing the type of connection. Before I did not notice this problem.

Edit: sorry this theme isn't compatible with lower dpi devices like our S3 mini. It's better to use an other theme.

I've tried some different basebands: I8190_modem_ANF3, GT-I8190_modem.bin-XXANR6.zip and I8190XXANI4. Now I am on I8190XXANI4. All without any progress in the stabitlity of the setting 2G. So I think I have to accept it.
I use the rom-version of 9 nov.
There is one small thing. When I open the app 'PacPerformance', I can't close it. I have to use the kill-app-button. This however doesn't infect the working of the app.
Another strange thing I noticed: The CPU setting you can change in the settings-menu AND in the app: PAC-Performance. Why on 2 places?

That happens with the last version of PACPerformance maybe is feature? really dont know why cant close the app but you can kill the app with the back button or in recents.
The option in menu come from cm sources, PACPerformance is an app, but the next release will be available only by the app, build in option is disabled now
