Hi,
I would like to begin by thanking all the CM 10 developing team for their fabulous work!
Also, I'm sorry if this is a repost or posting in the wrong area. I searched allover but no one has had this issue on this device. I finally had to make a account as this is my first problem that's why I could not post in the development question.
I recently got the HTC Vivid. I did everything required to install Cyanogenmod mod, i.e. install rom, (I'm S-On) fastboot boot.img, etc...
After I had the phone setup and apps installed, I rebooted the phone. The phone stuck on the Cyanogenmod logo. I knew there was a problem after it did this twice. So, I booted into recovery to reinstall the rom after a full wipe. When selecting "choose zip from internal sd card", it gave "cannot mount internal emmc". I knew I had to start from the beginning as this is a soft brick. So, I relocked the bootloader, reverted to stock, then did everything again.
Again it did the same thing but this time it mounted the internal emmc but it would not boot past the logo.
I tried looking allover, even in other device forums, I did not find anything. PLEASE HELP!
JUST FYI, I AM NOT A DEVELOPER AND ALSO NOT A NOOB! I have rooted all the devices I have owned and I know what I'm doing for the most part. This is the first problem I have ever encountered!
Thanks
mubby93
Sounds like you are using clockworkmod
Uhhh...
Get twrp or the other recovery...
Then flash that...
Boot to recovery
Mount via USB in recovery
Let windows tell you it needs formatting and format it
Burn incense... pray to deity of choice...
Do happy dance

I will give that a try when I get home.
Is the problem from cwm then?
Isn't it recommended to use cwm with cm?
Sent from my HTC Vivid
No... CWM is not recommended...
Its unofficial and breaks partitions

We seriously need to remove all links to cwm for this phone

I did all the above! This time it is stuck on the logo for the first boot up...
I also did RUU back to stock, locked bootloader and did it again.. same result
EDIT:
I did it again and this time it worked! It even rebooted properly. Thanks!

Got notification to update to the latest CM, clicked ok on everything, phone rebooted, now stuck on boot screen.
Can enter CWM but nothing functions, cannot choose update from SD or anything.
Please help..
(Did search, probably not good enough, but nothing came up. Am also new to the Rom Manager thing. Please don't flame if this is answered somewhere already..)
Did you make a nandroid backup? I always make one 'just in case' before I update.

Thanks for the quick reply!
Am not sure I did; I think it asked me if I wanted to back up the current rom and I think I clicked not to. Either way, I cannot do anything in CWM, what ever I choose gets stuck at the little hat with the arrow and I have to pull the battery.
It's not a big deal (I hope at least) to revert back to an original image, as it's my back-up phone so I don't use it daily. Hope it's easier than that though..
I would say reverting back to an original image via the passimg trick would be your best option right now (unless your bootloader is unlocked?)

It is unlocked. Any magic trick..?!
EDIT: I can enter the options in CWM. Being used of the Atrix I was pressing the on/off button instead of the trackball to choose. Ffs.. Anyway, I tried wiping the data, no go; still stuck on bootscreen
I would try restoring a backup if you have one. If not, just do a wipe and clean install...
Unlocked bootloader could've been used to install a new recovery, though that now looks it was operator error... xD

THANKS!!!!
You're welcome!
I have all the beer I need, but thanks for the offer!! xD
I have kind of the same issue but I am still stuck..
I have an unlocked bootloader and rooted atrix, everything was fine until I installed gingerblur through the cwm ( I chose to install from the sd card ), once I did that it finished what it was doing then I used the reboot feature through cwm. My phone is now not moving past the motorola dual core screen. It still says unlocked at the top left and I can still enter cwm and fastboot. I have read alot about trying to flash through fastboot, but I am sorry I am a newb and do not know how to flash through fastboot. I am desperate for help... any help would greatly be appreciated.
If you can still access recovery, I would try a full wipe and instal again...
Thank you for your response... I did as you said and wiped everything... found a .zip file for android 2.3.4 gingerbread and installed that through cwm. I now have a new question... what is the best way to create a nandroid backup?? I went in android recovery mode on the boot screen and proceeded to backup through the menus and saved it to my external sd card... the only problem is that when I tried to restore back to the backup I made before it kept giving errors while trying to install the backup file. Any ideas how I can successfully create a android backup on this ATRIX 4g??

Hello,
Today I tried to install MIUI 2.5.25 for my N1 using Rom Manager.
After it's installed it automaticly boots into recovery mode, so i pressed "reboot system now" but it booted into recovery again. So I had to restore my backup.
What could be the problem?

did you do a full wipe ? before installing rom maybe that why is causing your problems
Yes, I checked the options Wipe Data and Cache and Wipe Dalvik cache in Rom manager. Or do I need to do this a different way?

you have to flash it from recovery and do wipe in recovery find the rom you downloaded in rom manger in sd in download folder i think not sure but save that zip/rom in your pc then do full wipe then try installing rom again
That didn't help, it boots into recovery again. Anything else i could have done wrong or forgot about?

blackrose or non blackrose version?

I don't know anything about hboot, I just rooted my phone and than I downloaded MIUI and installed it. So I also guess non blackrose version.
As urs is a non blackrose partition its stock.so its not hboot prob..why dont ur try it from the beginning..using recovery..wipe all 2x then flash zip

Still the same problem. Also if I boot into recovery I get a warn sign if it boots and than it doesn't starts recovery mode. If I install CWM again (using rom manager) I can boot into recovery without any problems. I had this a few times now. Could that be the reason?
If you shut down the phone, then hold the trackball and power, you should boot into bootloader (hboot).
You should then have an option to boot into recovery.
ROM Manager only allows you to reboot into CWM and no other recoveries, as far as I know.

Check out the ROM thread, I guess the latest MIUI needs special disk partition. Also post ROM related issues in the thread for quick and appropriate response.
I read about it already, and i wanted to post it there too. But I need to have posted at least 10 posts to post on the development page. But isn't it strange there is a non blackrose version if that one doesn't work anyway? And do you know anything about the warn sign I told about?

I'm trying to install blackrose now. I downloaded the latest version but when I launch the blackrose.exe it automaticly closes again. What could be the problem?
BTW, does my bootloader need to be unlocked for this?
No. its not compulsion for bootloader to be unlocked. might be due to bad download. try downloading again and turn off ur anti virus program while doing it.
Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk
Thanks! Turning off my anti virus did the trick
Glad it worked buddy. the reason behind it is that Blackrose uses some exploit and it makes antivirus program consider it a threat, while it really isnt

Well in the hasoon2000 has a toolkit that has superSu.zip in a folder so put the device in recovery and mount, drag, uount, flash.... And if it still gets stuck you might have to flash ruu, but you have to un-soffed and relock bootloader .... But did you htcdev unlocked and then s-offed.?

Hi there,
I've used for a while with AT&T ROM without any problem.
Successfully rooted and CWM installed.
I tried to flash my phone by this ROM using CWM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2171741
However I failed. My phone didn't work with it.
Now, I cannot go into my CWM anymore. Although I reinstalled it.
I still can access to Bootloader. Select Recovery but it showed some scripts then it couldn't go further.
Anyone can tell me how to fix it?
I am frightened now since my phone is nothing more than garbage now I cannot do anything with my phone
Thank you so much
You're gonna have to relock your bootloader and run the RUU then unlock your bootloader to flash your recovery again, then you'll be able to run your recovery again. Also if you're S-ON, you have to extract the boot.img from the rom you installed and flash it before you install the rom, otherwise the phone won't boot.
Download another recovery to your computer...
Go into hboot... go to fastboot... connect via USB
Fastboot flash recovery (recovery name)
Reboot bootloader... choose recovery

Hello,
I did the way you said and it worked!!
Thank you very much.
Note: I think the ROM I flashed had some kind of weird code that led to the problem.
I used AT&T edition for my Bell Canada phone. RUU said failed during the process, however, that's when I reinstalled my CWM and it works again!
Thank you everyone for helping me with this question!
Get away from CWM...
Switch to TWRP or WCX

Ur welcome and like do what ringfool said CWM doesn't play well with this device. I personally use WCX but switch recovery cuz most of the time roms flash with errors is because of the recovery.

Yes! CWM really works badly on HTC Holiday.
WCX really rocks! It shows everything precisely and large enough to look haha.
Most of ROMs can be flashed using WCX. CWM cannot open some
TWRP for the win...Is that redundant? Flashed it last night, works flawlessly with the cm10 rom
Someone needs too post a really big sign somewhere in these forums that says DO NOT USE CWM I have seen at least 5 guys in the last month getting screwed because of it.

This is the first time i touch this Vivid, a few days ago I rooted it withou issues and has TWRP installed, i also did 2 full backups at that time just in case.
This morning i tried to install a new ROM, CyanogenMod 11 - Android 4.4.2 - KitKat. Basically the steps i took were
1. boot into twrp recovery
2. Did a factory reset
3. Did a System Reset
4. Clared cache and Dalvik cache
5. install the rom
6. install PA gapps
7. booted the phone wich got stuck in the htc screen forever
8. remembered that i was s-off and didnt flash the boot.img
9. repeated steps 1 thru 8 and after that flashed boot.img using fastboot
10. rebooted the phone but it was still getting stuck on htc screen
After all this i decided it was not worth it so i went back into twrp to restore my backup, unfortunately after restoring an booting the phone i am able to go past the htc screen, get the beats audio and att splash screen but it stays there, now stuck on att screen.
I have tried also to restore my second backup with basically the same results
any ideas or suggestions on what could i do next?

Do you know if you had the original Gingerbread or had upgraded to ICS? If you were still on GB, then you should be able to run the RUU for that, if ICS there is an RUU you can install. Read all the directions carefully, most things seem easy but have pitfalls if you are not careful enough.

I dont know what i was running originally. However i am back in business!!!
I found the superguide followed it regarding the RUU and luckily i got my phone to work again.
I want to try flashing the CM11 again, i am guessing that either i am doing something wrong or maybe TWRP is not working correctly on my phone and not flashing the rom as it should.
Any known issues with TWRP and the vivid? shall i try another recovery?
Are the following steps pretty much what i should do to flash it
1. factory reset
2. system reset
3. clearing caches
4. flash boot.img (i am s-on)
5. flash rom
6. flash gapps
any suggestion is welcomed

additional info:
After recovering the phone i decided to lock the bootloader and start all over again. I re-root and then, instead of installing TWRP i used CWM and obviously, got a nand backup.
O tried flashing again CM11 and got the exact same results. Stuck in the initial HTC screen forever. Tried to restore my NAND Backup and the result was also exactly the same as before, phone would get the htc screen, then the beats audio and att animations and then will stuck onthe att screen forever.
This is weird, i must be doing something wrong here...
Reading thru a few times. You did indeed flash the image? fastboot flash boot boot.img on command line. Make sure boot.img was extracted from the rom to the folder you are typing that in. You do that after flashing rom and gapps. It has to be done from bootloader not recovery.
How long are you letting it sit. Had a phone that I thought was doing that, just took a few extra minutes to boot up.
"Small mistake"
Sorry for your problem, I think there was a small mistake before installing CM11, and was what you describe in step 3 "Did a System Reset" when the installation instructions say: "Wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache". I'm afraid you can only recover your VIVID through JTAG on any site that offers the service, it seems you deleted your operating system. The other option is to try [unbrick] HTC Unbricking Project By dexter93 developers forum, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1627886;
All the best. Just a recommendation, read, read and read each post and comments to take no surprises. Good luck.:fingers-crossed

I don't think that post is relevant. You still have access to bootloader and recovery right? Then it isn't bricked.

Yes i do have access to bootlader and recovery, i actually was able to bring back to life the phone using RUU. So the issue now is not that the phone is bricked but that anything i try to load on it fails, being CM11 or even the NAND backup that i took with this same phone just after installing recovery, nothing seems to work.
I was googling around and so another person that had similar behavior on his vivid but didn't posted if he was ever able to fix it...

CM11 kicks ass. http://69.10.54.187/nightly/holiday/ is where you might find the latest nightlies.
Seems to be the only vivid rom that has been worked on for a while.
First time I tried running a custom rom I had a similar issue to what you experience. Do you happen to be on bell? After restoring with the RUU and unlocking again, all went well.
The best guide is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416836 but just use it as a guide line and use this software instead.
