Hey guys,
Just to let you know there is an application out there now to take care of force recalibration of the screen.
When I first got my nook I know it didn't register touch properly, so I ran some commands and it started working fine.
Decided I should make my first app something that helps people, so here you go. Checkout "nook screen recalibrate". It's a simple minimalistic application the re calibrates then reboots
Updated Version 2.0
* Better GUI
* Button to start process
* Lowered MinSDK to support froyo (untested)
Here's the market link.
Helpful since you don't have enough posts to post links yet. But thanks for this app!
Ironically when I go to the link and try to push it to my NC, it says it's not compatible. :X
Fine print mentions that is only works with GB (android 2.3 and above).
yep.. i dont think any rom uses anything lower than that
is it different from this app:

The nookie froyo is based on 2.2.
If your software doesn't require 2.3 functionality, can you lower the required API to '7', which is the stock Android API level (2.2/Froyo)?

I think it should work. I shall reduce the requirements.
However there is no way to check cause my touch is working perfect now
However I find it performs better slightly if I do this once a week

Strange, I had reduced the minimum requirements
I have no other froyo device to test on, let me check once again against an emulator

Ok maybe this is in my head, but if I run this every couple nightlies, touch feels slightly better and responsive.
Maybe it's the nightly, maybe the way it interacts, maybe the screen de sensitises over time, maybe it's all in my head
If anyone cares to do some testing, that would be great

This may sound crazy but after running this I think that the screen is actually leases responsive and now shows the "ghost" touches so badly that the on screen keyboard isn't usable. Is there something to do to fix this?
Try cleaning your screen prior to running the application, make sure you don't touch the screen prior to restarting

same thing on my end. I ended up reflashing the latest cm7 nightly and its back to the way it was

That's extremely strange. First time I've heard issues like this crop up. Do you have a screen guard or something

For those who would want to try, scews the S2.
But the link from nolook actually fixes it.

edit: only fixed it for a short time. i'm back with some bad touch.
can you attach the .apk i cant go to market to download!! plsss
On Monday, i finally got my nook. However, after flashing CM 7.0.2, I have had terrible screen glitches i.e when i have my hands completely off the screen buttons will continue to get pushed. I have tried to reflash, but I am a newbie so my method of flashing might be wrong.
Thanks for the help!
if it persists after an initial reboot, you probably need to recalibrate the touch screen.
BTW, if you're having the screen bug out on you while plugged in, that's normal.
Anyway, sorry i don't have the link handy, but you can do a search for a touchscreen recalibration app. If you really can't find it after searching, PM me and i'll send you a link to a dropbox with the apk
It's a hardware issue. I had the same issue on my Nook color for a while. At first I thought it was software related due to CM7, but the issue persists even on stock and other roms. I actually exchanges my nook at best buy last night for a new one, and no longer have the issue at all.

Yeah I went back to stock and screen issues persist. Going to exchange it right now, hopefully get a working one this time. haha
I think it is a hardware issue... kinda.
Are you noticing any SD card problems too? I noticed some when my screen was glitching like this. It would show the sd card icon at the bottom (when I didn't have one inserted) saying "SD card corrupt need to reformat."
I bought mine on Sunday and it had the 1.1.0 OS on it. I was already noticing that it was difficult to "unlock" the slide bar because it wouldn't always follow my finger correctly... I think it's a bug in the 1.1.0 software that was factory installed. 1.2 seems to fix that.
For me I fixed it by replacing the 1.0.1 OS, then factory resetting it doing power+N twice (then N two more times), then upgraded to 1.2 using B&N's software.
Then, I formatted /system and /data and flashed phiremod 6.1
It's great now. Now problems at all. You'll still see the "Read forever" message at the beginning but that's ok.
Been using it for two hours without glitches... which is about 1.75 hours more than ever before! I will report back if the issues return.
Well got my new nook after exchanging it, works like a beaut.
hope i just didnt jinx myself.... hahaha
Thanks for the help, appreciate it.
When I put a screen protector on mine it fixed that issue.

I've had the device since end of Feb, been really looking forward to this device's resolution/chipset but it seems like CM10/.1 development for the HD+ is dead in the water.
Can someone confirm or deny this before I sell the device and get something else?

I would not say it is dead, just resting. Verygreen has not said he is through.
Besides, why would you want to get rid of the device now? What is wrong with the versions of CM that are available? They are pretty stable. I use CM10 2/20 version on my Hybrid setup and have no issues.

It is fairly stable, it's just having a hell of a lot of latency issues, the wifi dies unless hard rebooted, and I let it alone for an hour, it goes into sleep of death and has to be powered cycled.

Yeah I used the 2/20 rom, and your hybrid boot, but things like typing is very latent and has to catch up. I know it's not the sd card since it does the same thing on a UHS-1, a Class 10, A Class 4 and a Class 5

It might be your keyboard. I don't use the CM10 keyboard, I use Hackers Keyboard. It has no lag. And it has the extra benefit of adding a 5th row if you like so it has numbers and letters and cursor keys.

Happens with stock, swiftkey, swype and Kii
I'm currently on the CM10 (2/20) for Nook HD+ using leapinlar's SD Hybrid setup.
Everything seems perfectly stable, except for a few random reboots the first few weeks. Everything seems almost perfect now. Only problem is that WiFi keeps going down, and not recognising my router, until the network is forgotten and re-added. This problem also occured to a couple of my friend's too, with different routers.
I keep WiFi turned on 24/7 though.
Regardless, other than WiFi. The setup is damn perfect, I can't ask for anything more on the Nook. A perfectly stable CM10 is all we need, and I glad we go it with Hybrid setup (thank you leapinlar once again).
I'm also using SwiftKey Tablet on the Nook HD+ and it runs perfect. Not slow, and is quite responsive. I'm using a SanDisk Class 4, 4GB MicroSD (which are said to be the best performers for running CM10 on Nook).
All the best.

Hi!
Verygreen told me by Email, that he is very busy with his job right now and can not do any Nook HD+ stuff right now, but he would like to come back some time later.. He wasn't more precise, but he didn't write anything about abandoning the Nook HD+ CM10/10.1 project altogether.
It might take some time though - as I understand it.
For me luckily the CM10 hybrid SD runs pretty stable - only thing I miss is bluetooth working properly, but besides that everything works ok - especially no issues with WiFi in any way.

Lol. And we certainly do feel sad for them now, don't we? I was very excited to see the "updated" date change yesterday on the cm10.1 thread! I'm just finishing making sure everything is backed up on titanium backup before installing the new rom.

As I have stated in the title, I have a Nook HD+ (16GB) running the stable build of CM 11, of 18th Jan 2014, I am glad I bit the bullet and went from stock to this, but I have a few qualms that I hope can be resolved.
1) I knew my battery time from the stock rom to the new ROM would plummet but I am having some suspicions. My nook HD+ lasts ~3hours with the screen on (battery -> screen -> screen on time) Is this the time it should be lasting considering I have a minimal number of apps installed? I have stuff like Adobe reader, firefox etc installed.
2) The tab now takes <2 hours to charge which is a huge relief over the previous time of 4hr 30 min on stock but even though the OS tells me the battery is "charged" the little light doesn't change color from orange to green. Is this normal? I am using the same charger and cable I have always been and both are in pristine condition.
3) when I play stuff like candy crush or Flappy bird, I am losing nearly 1-2% battery every couple of minutes or so. Is this normal?
and lastly I have another query.
4) I am on the stable but before stable I was on the 28th Jan nightly, but after having the battery issue I went to the stable thinking it would help, which of course it didn't. Anyway, the question I am trying to ask is, if I do decide to go back to the nightly, is there a way I can see a changelog on the latest nightly on what it brings and all WITHOUT installing it on the Nook? and how do i know if this build of NIghtly won't make me see the Cyanogen mod screen again where you enter your login to the cyanogen mod and Gmail account?
I hope you guys help me out, this is my first time in the world of android and I am a little bit paranoid. I really hope I get some answers
There is a changelog for every version in the Updates screen, but it is very technical and developer oriented. You may still be able to look up if any changes concerning the battery were made. The Updates screen is located at:
Settings->About tablet->CM Updates
If you click on the name of a version, the changelog will pop up. You may have to change your filters to see the nightles though.
There is no CM11 labeled stable, so you either mean a CM11 Nightly that is somewhat more 'stable' than the others, or you mean 10.1/10.2.
In case you really mean CM11, I believe your apps/datas/settings won't get lost, not really sure though.
If you are talking about CM10, I'm quite sure you will have to set your nook up from the beginning again if you update. Don't forget to use the right recovery if you do so!
Don't know about the battery as I'm new to this device.

Ok, now that we know for sure you were talking about two versions of CM11 nightlies, maybe someone can comment on your perceptions of battery life and charging.
I don't run CM11, but there should not be a difference in charging time from stock. I suspect that CM11 is not telling you the truth about battery charge state. Anyone else got comments on that?

I just rooted my tablet using instructions from several sources here, and have a bit of a problem. I rooted it because of a slightly annoying problem with the touch screen. It worked great 90% of the time, but occasionally I would have to tap an icon a few times for the screen to respond. I have not installed any Rom on it as I decided to keep it stock for the time being. That could change real quick though!! After I rooted it, the problem has increased. I did install several tweaking apps on it (Enterprise ram and digitizer booster, Optimus Root Memory Optimizer, and Entrophy Fixer) and a few games that I had on it before. Removing the digitizer app did no good. The odd thing about it is, I do not notice the touch screen issue if I am playing a game, only when I touch the application icons or links. There does not appear to be any app available to calibrate the screen. Has anybody else had this issue with the 701? Thanks for any help you can provide!!

I may end up trying CM12. I am also getting an error at boot up , "the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped" . It does not seem to be causing any problems, but it is annoying nevertheless. Also, this rom is nice, but I see no performance difference between it and stock. I tried that calibration app you linked to, but it does not seem to have done anything. Thanks!

I doubt it, but doesn't hurt to try. CM12 is in beta though. CROMi-X 7.1 was just released. The "xxx process has stopped" is a bug that will be ironed out soon. You did clean install the rom, did you?
But if you have the same problem on different roms it's unlikely that your touch problem is software related.
To rule out a software problem you should format data and reflash the rom. Format, not just wipe. Which will delete all data on your tablet.
Also try with the microSD out. Bad cards can cause all kinds of weird problems.

Thank you for your response. I was able to fix the process error, but I still ended up putting CM12 on it anyhow! It took me all of 10 minutes and I have had no problems so far. It is very smooth and fast. I did a wipe/format, and a dalvik wipe before I put CM12 on it using CM 6.0.5.1 (I think that is the correct version). Not sure I did that correctly though, since my download folder on the tablet was still intact afterwards. My LCD problem is more than likely hardware, but it is more of an annoyance than anything. It only affects opening up apps. The screen works great in games and just typing.
