[Q] Dell Streak 7 Keeps Resetting - Dell Streak 7

I just bought a used Dell Streak 7 off of eBay and I'm about to return it. But before I do, I wanted to see if anyone could help me with a problem.
EVERY TIME I reboot the tablet, it resets itself. Brings up the Android screen where I have to press on the Android then continue to setup the tablet which is very annoying. Can anyone help?
The tablet is on 2.2. T-Mobile version with the slot for SIM card and WiFi.

I did. I tried every single update I could find. The US 4G ones weren't working so I tried the other ones just in case and none of them worked.

I downloaded the updates from the first post on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1431797.
One at a time I transferred them onto the root of my SD card and changed the names to "Update.pkg", also tried "update.pkg". Then I entered recovery holding volume up and the power button. Used volume down to scroll to the option to update from SD card. Pressed power to run the update, it ran for about 30 seconds to a minute but then would come up with a FOTA name mismatch error and reboot.
I tried downloading updates from another website but I can't remember where it was exactly.
EDIT: I just tried all the PKG files at http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Dell_Streak_7#Official. Almost all of them come up with a FOTA name mismatch, even the US 4G one. The only one that doesn't come up with that error is version 336. But that one comes up with another error, "Install modem error. System will upgrade again."

You are using an External SD Card, correct? Maybe you wouldn't get a FOTA error if you weren't anyway.

In Androidspeak, the internal memory is called sdcard and the physical SD Card is called external_sd or sdcard1.

The first problem I ran into being new to Android was thinking exactly that SD Card meant internal memory because that's what a file manager calls it.

I mean sometimes I can change wallpapers through gallery and i see my stuff... then like an hour or two later there's nothing there -- it doesn't detect my SD card hence it "disappears"
I have to reboot about 5 times a day to get it back
what does it say when you open up gallery? when i had an issue with mine, it would say "no sd card" or something to that affect.
or does yours just not show any pictures?
edit: is this your external sdcard or your internal one?

[Q] How to flash a ROM with out USB

I started this thread in the "General discussion" section about this but I'm starting to think my problem might be more SGS specific.
My problem is that my phones USB connection stopped working then I foolishly reformatted my system partition with out having another ROM with which to replace it. I still have "ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.1.3" installed but am unable to find a way to install another ROM. Most people seem to say flashing from an external SD card is trivial with CWM but I can't work out how to do it. Does anyone know a way to flash a ROM from the external SD card with CWM v2.5.1.3 on an SGS, or any other way I could get an image back on my phone that doesn't require a working USB connection?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Go into update from zip as usual then scroll down to external sd... if that's not working go into advanced and check if external sd is mounted

You may need to update cwm, I don't think the earlier versions hadan option to flash from Ext sd

Yeah, I think that might be the case. There is an option to "mount /sd-ext" but I don't think that actually mounts the external SD card. I think it has something to do with an "extended" or "extra" partition. In any event, when I select the option I get this error:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p2
(File exists)
Error mounting SDEXT:!
Also, I can't see an "external sd" option under "update from zip". Under "install zip from scdard" there is an option to "choose zip from sdcard" but this doesn't seem to access the external card.
Any idea how I might be able to update to a later version of CWM?

Since the phone is worth over £200 I would get it fixed you should look online and see how easy it is to fix you might be able to or know someone who can fix it at a cheap price (that part is most likely on sale online for way less)

Just have to work out how to do it now.
I had the phone in pieces the other night trying to clean the port and that socket seem pretty firmly attached. Have to see if I can turn up any instructions. There are lots of sights saying they'll do it for you but haven't been able to find any instructions on how to do it myself yet.

This comes because the SD card was formatted in an unrecognized way (probably exFAT). You can ignore it.

I did. Then after when i put it into my NookHD it said the SD was damaged.
I rebooted to see if CWM would boot but nothing happened.
EDIT
I formatted it back to normal and tried to write cwm and had no success.
You need to hold the power button down 10 seconds to truly turn out of for a reboot. Put the sd in when it is of the turn it back on.
Are you saying the software would not write on the second attempt?
If so- you might need to download position software to clean up you sd.

You can actually use the Nook itself to format an SD card and restore it back to full size. Go to Settings > Storage Management > SD card > Erase SD Card. After it's erased, tap Unmount SD card and take the SD card out. (Or just turn off the Nook and take it out.) Put it back in your computer and try writing the CWM image again.
Also, make sure you're burning the correct CWM image for the correct device (HD or HD+) and for what you're trying to do (rooting stock or making a CM10 SD card).
Got it working. Thanks dbh369 and ikmiller.
I had to change partitions and use the RIGHT image. Feel stupid now but at least i got it working.

[Q] E: Can't mount /sdcard/ and no files found

Ive been having trouble and flashing roms for the past week trying to get my captivate to boot, but i constanly either get into a boot loop or i load into a black screen.
In CWM 5.1.0.7, when i choose "Install zip from sdcard > Choose zip from sdcard" i get a "E: Can't mount /sdcard/" error.
If i go to "Reformatting, tweaks and more > System Information > Browse directories and files", ill get "No files found." on a few of the directories and my /bin folder only has "init.goldfish.sh" in it. most of them have only bare minimal things in them. (im not sure if this is normal or not)
How should i go about fixing this?

bt according to some users, their sd card came back to life after some time and then got bricked again...

4 days later, I finally have the time to have one last follow up problem. I've flashed a CM11 nightly and my external sd shows up as my main storage in settings. I can download apps but i still can't access my camera or save pictures from the internet(it tells me "no SD card , and sd card is required to download). Also tested this with the voice recorder, it wouldnt start and told me the same thing.
Is this normal with the method you gave or have i done something wrong?

I got it completely working with your advice but when i took the phone out of my pocket it was stuck on the neat kernal loading screen and rebooting it wouldnt help. I decided to flash back to stock and redo the process. I wiped all data etc. in recovery but when i went to partition the sd card again in cwm it finished instantly.
My pc wouldnt read it and even my another phone didnt detect it was there.
I'm assuming the SD card just died, its verbatim 8gig(Not sure if thats a reliable brand or not).
Could this be because i did something wrong is it just a coincidence with the sd card dying? Im buying a sandisk soon anyhow.
