Nook HD over clock? - Nook HD, HD+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Any idea on whether the Nook HD will be able to be pushed to 1.5ghz like the plus is running at?

My understanding: this is a kernel mod and the devs aren't down to that level of detail yet. Maybe on the CM10 variants, but routed stock will reset if you change the kernel

I was referring to CM which has the ability in it to change the cpu speed but only to underclock it. 1.3 is the max speed that can be set atm

It is still requires a kernel mod to make it overclock even with CM10.

Ace is not adviced for gaming. You cant do anything about it. Advice? Buy a better device next time.

No, Ace is great for Gaming, there must be some apps or something

Chainfire 3d made a difference with some games with the nvidia plugin, minor improvements on tge rendering of graphics, but that's about it. Even angry birds gets laggy after a while.
A class 10 sd card helps speed up games installed or linked to external storage. I did notice a difference, for example, in sequences running without lags.
Other than that, cyanogenmod based roms usually run games better.
So, with a cm based rom, correctly configured chainfire 3d, a class 10 sd card and overclocking close to 900 mhz you get slight improvements in gameplay and a huge decrease in battery life.
So yeah, how can ace be used for a better gaming experience? You sell it and buy an xperia.
all those things should help that u mentioned. I got ps2 games to play on my hd2 which is a dino so u shouldnt have issues.

Im currently using the official CM7 nightly build so I cant say anything from experience but Ive heard that the Myth ROM is very smooth and lightweight.

If ace is great for gaming then you dont need apps for it to boost its performance.

It's pretty simple really. When you are using your phone as a phone it doesn't require a lot of your processor or ram. However when you are using apps, especially apps that have a lot of graphics to them then you are using substantially more of your ram and processing power. And the more the processor and ram are working the more electricity is flowing through them and the hotter it gets.
Think you I been trying to use ram manger and here what I have it runns smooth am on aokp m6 my ns tools set to this governor conservative, min CPU freq 100mhz,Max CPU freq 1000mhz, oc value 100%, oc target low 100 MHz, oc target high 1500 MHz....

Sent from my SGH-I897 using xda app-developers app
If you're on the stock kernel, there aren't very many settings to set. Even with a custom kernel, each phone behaves differently and the only way to find out is by experimenting.

Low performance with low battery

Anytime my battery drops below 35-40% my phone becomes sluggish and sometimes unresponsive. Is this normal? When it has a full battery or when plugged in its like after a fresh install.

What kernel and rom are you using? Maybe you have set profile wchich underclock cpu when battery is low.

Yes in out scheduler. But it shouldn't make problem. If that's card problem run test on computer and watch its speed. Then you can higher cache level to 2MB and set vr/sio

I have slowdown in my cpsemu on xperia x8

I have downloaded cpsemu in my XPERIA X8(Rooted with android 2. 3.7 Ginger Dx Rom)!! When I go to emulation and play games, like marvel super heroes, I have slowdown... Do you know the reason? Can anyone help me?
Sent from my X8 using xda app-developers app
Try overclocking to 787MHz. Should reduce lags. And if you're on a custom kernel try SWAP.
I have stock kernel... you mean to overclock my cpu right?
Sent from my X8 using xda app-developers app
Yes overclock it , and use swap as previously mentioned. I recommend 768MHz max, and 256mb swap with swappines 10.
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
I have locked bootlaoder and i will overclock it 600 min and 768 max right?? And what is swap? I must used it ??
Sent from my X8 using xda app-developers app
Don't set min cpu freq 600MHz; 480MHz min freq will provide best results. And swap is almost like virtual memory. It uses some space on your sdcard (separate partition needed) and uses it as a "kind of RAM". That way you will have slightly better speeds, or so I think.
Ok then min 480 and max 786 right??
Sent from my X8 using xda app-developers app
I try to overclock my cpu 480min-719max but my phone reboot 2 times...do you know the reason?? It's better idea to use SWAP??
Sent from my X8 using xda app-developers app
it's natural. many phones don't adapt well to overclocking. and swap..yes use it if you're on a custom kernel. stock kernel doesn't support swap. can you try overclocking on some other ROM.
Now my cpu works with 480 min -619 max...if i go max 768 and my phone reboot again how i play cpsemu?? :-/

Try flashing a different rom (like froyo). That could help. If you're getting reboots then maybe it's a hardware issue. Try changing roms and see if it still happens.

Look now my max freq is 691 and cpsemu emulation is still slowdown

Overclock in cm9

I am using cm9 now. I wonder where can I set the CPU speed? Do I need to install some app?
In addition, what is moderate speed to begin with.

You'll have to download an app from the play store. There are free ones and paid. I use No Frills CPU, though there are several other good ones. Set CPU is a paid app, though you can get it free, being an XDA member. A search here in the forum will turn it up.
I set my CPU speed to 1.5 max max, and 354 min. Set the minimum to at least 354, that will eliminate the SOD (sleep of death) problem that sometimes effects our tablets.
Enjoy!
Thanks.
