CWM Question... - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Originally rooted with zedomax's method and installed CWM recovery but I recently also installed TWRP and like it better. My question is do I still need CWM? Or can I delete it and just use TWRP for everything? If so how do I delete it?

What Is your kernel. If you just installed twrp not embedded in a safe kernel then your phone is in danger.
Are you using the twrp 2.4 cm10/10.1 kernel from this forum?

Stick it in a flowerpot, and apply some water. I advice watering it twice a day. After a week, you'll see the new grown roots.
Cheers, Markus
If u already have a custom rom then itz rooted

So download the philz kernel as per your build number and install it via recovery. This will root

If you dont have CWM as a recovery, you will first need to flash a cwm recovery image through odin. [or heimdall]
If you do have CWM as recovery try to flash a SU package [Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip?]. That will root / install superuser on your device.
Once both are done you can proceed with backingup&& flashing new roms.
Goodluck.

10.1 on my Galaxy S3 changed the sd card location to /0 which did not let me restore my backups from my internal sd. Can you boot into CWM and see if you can see your backups or if says file not found.

All you have to do is use file manger and copy over from sdcard to /0 location and you will be fine I already did that today and worked perfect

Thanks for the reply. Just thought I'd mention it just in case anyone flashed and had an issue then tried to restore.
Anyone flashing....just for good measure, put a backup on your external sd card just in case something happens during the install. Other than that CM10.1 is a great ROM. In call volume (speakerphone) may be low and bluetooth clarity is an issue.

I flashed it using twrp with no problems but yea twrp does have issues. To flash cwm you have to use Odin http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831173

im newbie with all this rooting and ROM's stuff, i have question, about my HTC vivid.
if i have a custom ROM installed (that i actually dont like), would there be a problem if i want to go back to the AT&T ICS ROM even if it is S-off?
Do a backup with CWM. You can revert to stock ROM by restoring

Do not... For the love of whatever you call holy... Use CWM... Use TWRP or WCX recoveries

I think wcx is specifically meant for vivid. You can try that.
I have used both CWM and TWRP and have found both equally good

i have CWM, also have both zip files ICS stock Rom and also the one im currently using, can i just make a back up, and flash the ICS zip file?
I don't have any experience in flashing in HTC vivid. Search the forum before flashing or take help from someone who owns one and knows what he is doing.
I give below link of one from the forum

ClockworkMod compiled for the vivid has a good chance to destroy partitions... It was improperly compiled or just isn't compatable...

[Q] Custom Recovery for Sprint Galaxy Tab 7

I recently rooted my Sprint galaxy tab 7 and need a custom recovery for it. I have look thru the forums but all I find is old non working links. can anyone help find it custom recovery eather CWM or TWRP?
Thanks
No one have an answer?????????
It depends on what are you going to do with it.
If for cm ROM, just unpack the ROM, look for the boot.img and flash with heimdall.

So I can flash custom roms, that's why I need it. thanks for the link.

restore with out root?

Hello Ive seen a post on how to restore with root, But I would like to restore with out root, can someone please point me in the right direction. thanks.
BTW this is for the Verizon sch-1800
What do you mean by "restoring"? Restocking ? Restore from backup?
You need root to do these things...
Incorrect. Restoring from nandroid needs only the custom recovery.
Restoring system apps and data using tools like Titanium backup requires root.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using xda app-developers app
But you need root to install custom recovery. Is it right?
Nope. Just flash a kernel that has cwm using Odin/heimdall. ( example: overcome kernel 4.0)
No root needed. Just boot to download mode, flash. Done.

I'm sorry I guess I wasn't clear with my question I want to restock my device to factory stock and be rid of root and superuser.
