[Q] MIUI battery charging issue - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey folks, I have tried all the custom roms available for the SGN in the MIUI environment, but with every rom, an issue exists, and that is the battery charging issue. The battery charges very slowly, and suddenly shows 100%, and when i disconnect the charger it comes back to 30-%40%. I tried wiping battery stats, no success. Even tried changing kernels.
The roms i have tried:
1. MID team MIUI
2. Rocket MIUI
3. miuiandroid_ics-3.1.18
4. MIUI-Note-2.5.11
Kernels tried are :
1. Philz
2. Hydracore
3. TheMIDTeam1.5_Kernel_LQ2
4. AbyssNotekernel42RedTouchCustomLogo
Help me out guys!

does this happen on a stock rom as well.. may be now you need a new battery..

Its is note 2 rom!

I don't know. It's says port and more over its in the note 1 section.

Ya, bt the name says Note TW 2! I dont know wat they mean by that! Plus the 2nd line in the thread says "This Rom is a port from Miuiv4 for the Note2"

Finally back on stock! and the battery goes from 30% to 40% in like 20 mins! Now thats what im talkin abt!! :victory:

yes, I did.
but I got this problem with this rom only.
I assume you don't want to change your ROM...
Try flashing another kernel.
This happens when the usb port is incapable of delivering enough current to charge the device. same problems occurs if you use a car charger that supply's less than 0.7amps of current.

Clean reinstall ICS - need help choosing the right ROM

Getting sick of the ICS battery and kernel issues and have decided to clean out the phone and install everything fresh.
I am currently on an unrooted stock ICS ROM (N7000XXLRK) and understand that I should go back to a GB ROM first then install ICS. I will search on here for a guide on how to do it (links welcome ) but am confused as to which ROM I should use of the many stock ROMs posted on here.
Since I am going to do a clean install, is it worth going back to the XXLRK ROM or is there an improved one which has sorted the battery kernel issues out? Which GB ROM can I safely go back to without confusing things before I reflash ICS?
Is it recommended that anything else is added or flashed while I have the hood up? Unless there is an uber stable custom ROM I want to stay stock, but will want to root it.

First Downgrade to GB and then upgrade to this ICS Stock ROM.
JUST DON'T EVER WIPE WITH STOCK ICS KERNEL. USE A CUSTOM KERNEL LIKE NOTECORE,SPEEDMOD ETC.

upgrading to the latest ICS kernel doesn't necessarily guarantee that your deep sleep and excessive battery usage woes will go away.... your deep sleep and battery drain issues are subjective and have lots of factors that might contribute to it.
Don't let the notion fool you into thinking that your issues(above) will simply be resolve by simply upgrading to the latest firmware. Because I'll tell you now.. it will not still. (infact there have been people complaining that upgrading to the latest ICS one have increase more their battery drain than ever before), unusual as it may seem... but it has been complained about already.
Just like to let you know that...

First thing I am just wondering why this quoting is broked ? looks like something is broken in this thread.
Second thing I didn't advised anyone (not the op) that your issues will be resolved by just doing the things mentioned above. Confused ? Third I was just answering him the question he asked in "OP"
Fourth if you are facing deep sleep issues or your device is not going to deep sleep mode then OP can try this..
Turn ON the Airplane Mode.
Switch Off your Phone.
Take the battery OUT for a minute or TWO
Put it back and start your phone.
Wait for everything to load
Turn off the Airplane Mode.
After that you can check the same in CPUSPY

Thanks for that.
I have tried the method you describe and also looked at CPUSpy with BBS and on top of that I have the keyboard lockup issue too in Chrome.
It seems that the quality of the phone is completely lower since the ICS updates with it not providing a full day of use on one charge as well as me having to be careful about bleutooth/wifi usage and time that I use the phone to surf. Quite ridiculous really and I haven't had to use a smartphone like this since the days of the HTC Diamond.
Before I revert back to GB and be done with it, I want to try an nice clean ICS install and give it one last chance, unless there is a custom ICS ROM you think I should consider.

Yes, using pc odin you can flash what you like. If you want good battery, it's worth doing a clean install ie perform data wipe/factory reset to clear any old mess, obviously if you're going onto ics make sure you have a safe kernel before performing any wipes at all.
To be honest though, for ICS you're getting pretty good battery life, I doubt you'll top it except going back to GB.
All the best, let us know how you get on.

Yes, I understand that WipeAll is the best way. But this mean, flash safe kernel = root (or can i just flash safe kernel on my stock ICS via PC odin? )
And root ICS = go to GB directly rooted kernel and....etc.
In my old Galaxy Spica I have change kernel or mod (rom) every month but was always just 2.2 froy. So no worry about it.
And still i am reading all thread of all rom in XDA. No rom is perfect. Its working but sometimes some bugs...so i am tired (2 years with Spica) of looking for the best kernel for my note.
Now i want just one normal working with a little good live of battery
btw. What is your live of battery on custom kernel 4.0.3. ? If you say i have pretty good battery i will not it change

Firstly battery: ics swallows a lot more juice than gb, so what you're getting is pretty good. I'm currently on paranoid android jb beta 1.4 with Beastmode kernel and getting roughly 8 hours with 4 hours screen on. I use it a lot! When I was on pure ics 4.03 I was getting around the same.
Roms and kernels: if you flash an already rooted gb, you can do so now with pc odin and it will automatically root. When you've done that, check to see if cwm is installed as it may be part of the package in which case your good to go, if not just flash a Chainfire kernel. Then you have cwm recovery (vol up, home and power) and flash this rom package which includes a safe kernel.
Hope that makes sense.

I presume these ROMs have their kernels built in.
Would you thus recommend one of these custom ROMs for my requirements over say stock ICS with perhaps a different kernel? I am not really looking for lots of features as I would like to build up the apps on my own, ie shut out bloatware. I would like it to be stable and have at least 15 hours of battery life with 3-4 hours screen time, which is what I enjoyed with GB. How do you think CM9 fits in with your selection?
Last flashing I did was on a Dell Streak which was easy as there was only DJ Steve at the time, Seems with the Note I am starting again from scratch, completely different flash process and loads of ROMs. Sort of blinded by it all to be honest

[Q] Deep Sleep with Bluetooth not working

Hello Community!
I've got a problem with my Galaxy Ace. I've installed the latest CM7 nightly (2012-10-14) and installed CronMod INT2EXT+ script.
In addition i've installed the newest Firekernel (2012-10-09) OC, official.
I've encountered a problem while using Bluetooth. With enabled Bluetooth the phone won't go into Deep Sleep mode. Is it a Kernel problem, or has it something to do with CM7?
Hoping to find a solution for my problem.
Cheers
Alex

I installed stocklite v7.1 and no deep sleep problem.
I'll try to find from were comes the problem in the following days.
I'll update you
Stock CM Kernel
I've just tried the stock CM7 Kernel, but also no Deep Sleep while Bluetooth is enabled.
The rom with wich i encoutered this problem is based on cm7.
Maybe we are not alone in this case but nobody else care about it.

You should try Stocklite 7.1
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703094
It has a very good battery life
I added int2ext+ to extend internal memory to sdcard
adrenaline engine to speed up the phone
firekernel
and ICS MOD http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1926596
now my rom is pretty close to CM7

Like a charm
I tried many roms, for me its the best in terms of battery life/reactivity (i don't play games).
I had strange behaviour after installing one of those mods (on don't remember wich one) but after a restart everithing is ok.
In this configuration mi battery is at 60% after a day of work (about 12 hours), my average use is half an hour of call, bluetooth always on and connected during one hour, wifi and 3g always on.
I use Juice defender but never compared with and without
Nice, but when i tried the ROM yesterday i was not able to see my SmartWatch...
Neither with the ROMs Kernel, nor with the Firekernel... I tried only the ROM without any modification but also the same result!
I was able to connect to my Notebook and to other Phones but i was not able to see my Smartwatch.
Very strange behavior and i don't know why... My Notebook and other Phones could connect to the Watch... Now i switched back to CM7 and it's working again...

The BT bug is a known one, I'm not sure about the camera one and definitetly not the battery sucker one.
Boot into recovery and wipe data , cache & dalvik cahe.....
Flash ROM again and then see if the problem persists.
If it does, get Better Battery Stats (from the play store) and see if there are any battery draining apps/services running.
As for the speed problem, I've never run into it but a full-wipe should solve it ( full-wipe means wiping cache, dalvik cache and data )
Before flashing a rom read about it..
If want a ROM like Stock Jellybean I suggest you:
CaynogenMod10
OR
Paranoid Droid
If you want Galaxy Note's Official I suggest you
Ultimate_N7000_XXLSC_JBv5.1

[Battery] i9000 massive drain

Hey guys
I recently noticed that my i9000 is loosing battery charge significantly (screenie attached)
I have already done the battery calibration & also changed the wifi settings.
Over and above I spun the battery on a table, it spun for about 3 whirls and stopped
So far my battery takes 6 hours to charge fully, and 3 hours to drain completely in idle state
Specs
OS: ICS 4.0.3 AOSP
Modem:XXJVU
Need help
Thanks

ok heres the thing
i cant upgrade to JB 4.3 since the vold.fstab doesnt work (my phone went through Encryption Error phase)
so far tested with the following ROMs
AOSP 4.0.3
Slim ICS + Semaphore Kernel 1.3.0s (currently Installed)
the reason why i found it odd is the phone is draining battery even when switched off completely
Charge time: 6 Hours (100%/ 4121v)
Phone screen off: drains in 3 hours
Phone Completely switched off: still drains in 3 hours
Have you tried CM10 or 10.1?
But hwne it drains when the device is completely switched off, for me it seems that the system doesn`t stop really ...
why should the device consume so much battery when switched off ...
Could you test with CM ???

I think its a ROM issue too cause the battery problem came only after i had a failed attempt at installing JB 4.3 on my device
post which i formatted everytihng from SDcard to system, boot and used Odin to reflash GB then ICS AOSP and Slim ICS through CWM

the usage suggests
Download the zip file from the link above.
Place the file on your internal SD-CARD.
Restart to ClockWorkMod Recovery.
Install the zip like any other package.
Install the Kernel of your choice.
Reboot the device.
DONE!

yup, this too > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1166954 seems dead, google search gives me lots of download links ( still active), but NO idea which one to use and NO support available as only downloads .
AS time goes by, this would become the norm, as developers move on to other devices and users could not be bothered to click their thanks button, or donate to show their appreciation.

That is bad with the link ...damn
Maybe a start from scrath could be a good or the last way ...:fingers-crossed:
