you can follow my TUT on my signature.
and since SGMII(S6500/D) doesnt(at the mean time) have official JB ROM its working on a STOCK gingerbread ROM.
while the CM10 ROM which is JB 4.1 Based ROM by TheWhisp is pre-rooted.

Haha, I remembered something and I found it. Look here.
I repeat the message from there:
No need to open a new thread each day with the same problem.
In your other thread from yesterday you wrote that odin stopped at factoryfs.img.
And as a member wrote you bricked your device.

really sorry about that ..
but that took me to the last post !
mother board is fine it is just software installation
roms ect ect ?
are you able to help
First you have to clarify the state of your device:
Did you succeed in installing any Rom with Odin after you saw the error with factoryfs.img?

okay well shall we start from the beginning i havnt had any luck with it soo far battery woudnt charge so i purchased a external charger .. it wouldnt let me back into download mode because of low battery . soo battery has been in the charger now for bout a hour or so and its charging grate ive stuck the battery into the phone and now in download mode with no sweat .. its recognising on odin . which i think its 1 step good .
next i need to find a safe kernel and rom that could work onto my phone .. i dont mind if its ginger bread or ics
but i prefer ics
... im able to get into recovery mode also ??
I will not start from the beginning: obviously you didn't accept the "message": you bricked your device if Odin stopped at factoryfs.img.
So the options didn't change:
a) replace motherboard for complete repair by Samsung
b) use the workaround here in the forum with repartition (and excluding damaged sectors)

all im asking is what is a good rom to use ??? and kernel ?
it depends on you.. if you want stock and stable.. go for any latest ICS roms. JB roms are leaks so there will be bugs in them... XXLSA and XXLSC both are good. there are odin flashable roms of LSA & LSC in general and dev section of this forum
nokiamodeln91
thankyou
i want to install the stock ones for my note before i tried to flash jelly bean i was using ics but yeahh after that it wouldnt boot
soo im trying to go the safe way now
thankyou ..
flashing via Odin is always safer

There you have it all, scrool down for more...
how will i no which stock rom to use ! my note isnt brought from my country
Rom from any region will just work fine.
And still ignoring the fact that he admitted in his first of three threads: stuck in odin at factoryfs.img.
So showing him different possible Roms in the usual threads and tutorials won't help him.
If it still stops at the same step in Odin (and he didn't answer this question) he has only the two remaining options:
repair by Samsung or workaround with repartition.
yes but let him try till he gets fully satisfied.. I am not here to force anyone

In exactly this thread Chasmodo described the installation procedure very good. If I give you a step-by-step help it wouldn't be different from Chasmodo's.
And if this is too complicated or you do not have the energy or time to concentrate on it, you should stay on 4.0.4 and wait for the next official update to Jelly Bean.
As beginner who doesn't want to read you are in real danger to hard brick your device.
But maybe you don't even know the "speciality" of the N7000 with it's bricking danger.

now as u r in stock ics 4.0.4 kernel, which is unsafe, flash a safe philz kernel
why philz kernel...because
1.its safe
2.can be flashed via stocked recovery
3.it gives you root+touch based cwm recovery+safe kernel.
now the thing is philz kernel are rom specific so find right kernel for your rom here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191

All that you want http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2057161
thanks mate but I'm on version 2.1 but in ur thread it says, Rooting GT -I9000 2.3.6 [India DD JV7 / JVB]....... should I go ahead with that rooting process still? just wanna make sure cause I really don't wanna brick my phone
on 2.1??
why you are on 2.1???official update is released since ages..just update to 2.3.6 and then follow the same.
this two steps done very carefully
1 when you connect yor phone to odin in download mode the yellow light will be blinked in id:com.
2 put kernel file in PDA only
3 uncheck re partition and just click your device will be rooted enjoy.
I just got the phone yesterday bro....how do I update to 2.3 though, ?

just go in settings and then navigate to software and in that there is "check for updates"
one advice: get some basic information regarding rooting, recovery, kernel etc....i root my phone after doing research for month and then i proceed.here in XDA lots of information available very easily just go through posts and forums.read and re-read then proceed.
if u do something wrong we are here to help you but make sure you know what you are doing.
good luck
thanks man I've already rooted my SG3 , I went into settings but I don't see any option regarding to check for updates .....can it be done via keys

ok I watched the video ,I already have Odin on my PC but the video didn't provide a link to the official 2.3.6 Gingerbread XXJVU firmware bro, do u have a link?
Link is already there in that video please check carefully before posting

ok the video is kinda blurry on my phone can u please inbox me the link sir
Last time I needed gingerbread I did a simple Google search. There are working links in these forums if you search too.
Don't expect to be spoon fed everything. Do some research like everyone else did instead of just posting all the time.

ok guys I successful update it to 2.3.6 so I can try to root now?
yes should be good to go :good:
My HOW TO gives you the Root (only if its the version you are looking for) and explains on how to use it)
I tried rooting with that guide he posted above and now my phone won't boot up past the galaxy startup screen

Follow these steps sequentially; safest, tried and tested by over 10,000 people on GT-i9000:
1. Go back to stock: Flashing To Original Rom - Using Odin on GT-i9000
2. Root your device: Rooting GT-I9000 2.3.3 [India DDJV9]
3. Install ICS: Installing Ice-cream Sandwich 4.0.4 On Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000
4. Install JB: Installing Jelly Bean 4.1 on Galaxy S GT-I9000

As a senior member when I saw the topic I thought it was a tutorial for beginners.

newest JB version is russian: I9070XXLQ4
previous one was: I9070XXLPZ
you can download it from samfirmware.com and flash with odin.
I guess you might have root / custom kernel on your phone and that is main reason for those errors.
