i want to now what rom is better the AOKP or Stock ICS and what are the positive sides and non positives ???
For me TouchWiz, cuz Stable, everything work, all S Pen stuff work, can run more Video Codecs, and just beautiful
AOSP etc are nice, but many many bugs. untill they get solved, stay away
personal preference.
Even though Samsung is bloated, their newest touchwiz roms for note will have mad multitask abilities, the hardware probably will be left wanting a bit, but its truly innovating! Cant wait.
Aokp, is as intended(if they get the stuff working with closed sources) by Google
Samsung is doing some awesome stuff with the touchwizz.
definitely touchwiz, samsung is doing well.
Best regards,
+1 for touchwizz

I'd say it goes back to personal preference as well.
But yeah in general stock is more stable and practically has more features. I personally prefer stock.
Aokp offers more customization than touchwiz. It is not as stable as tw. performance may be lower than that of tw.
I use anything that is non-tw.

Aokp because it looks nicer and it is faster

And which of the aosp/aokp/pa roms is the most full-featured at the moment? Specifically, I've heard none of them supports hdmi out - is that correct?

Is it just me or somebody else there who preferes CM7 over ICS and feels CM7 is better, for the time being, than ICS, performancewise and customizationwise.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
CM7 is certainly more customizable for now, but if you're talking about performance and stability, both CM7 and CM9 are still not as good as some of the stock Froyo 2.2.1 roms, mainly due to free ram. With more free ram, the processor doesn't need to constantly close and reopen processes. Nonetheless, I prefer ICS over froyo and CM7 simply because of the many subtle yet important improvements, such as the keyboard and spellcheck, smoother game performance(eg: runs GTA3 with no lags), and the improved user interface.
ICS' only weakness in my point of view is the lousy multitasking, due to low ram on our galaxy s. I can't even open the browser and a simple game like angry birds at the same time without one of them being closed. Multitasking was slightly better on gingerbread and much better on Froyo.
CM7 in my opinion, is not faster than CM9, though it is currently more stable and has fewer bugs. But the huge community support that ICS has currently makes it better for me.
To check the multitasking I opened some apps and without killing them I checked the running processes. They are not shown there but in the cached running processes they are shown. Why?.

CM9 all the way. I'm just surprised how good it is for alpha. Better than 2.3 roms, imo.

I have never tested cm7. I think if you want to use a custom ROM, you should take ICS.
There isn't only cm9, you can also use something like AOKP (or BLUE LIGHTENING, a AOKP based ROM from BHuvan goyal), it is nearly bug free and very customizable!
If you like the stock ROMs, stay there!

Which ever one you like the best? Honestly, there is no such thing as the "best" in the custom ROM world. What suits you best? I don't know, I can't answer that for you. If you want Touchwiz and S-Pen capabilities...there are a few options. Do you like AOSP? MIUI?...cause there are a few of those as well!

imlika's AOSP ICS hands down for me. I had issues with partial root permissions with all other ICS releases, but not with AOSP. Also it's slim (no Samsung crapware), fast and can be run in tablet mode with no issues.
The only downside is the video recording doesn't work (missing drivers, will be fixed in time hopefully), and USB connectivity (this can be overcome by using various WiFi file sharing apps from the market).
Okay, I'll play. I'd have to agree. AOSP at the moment is pretty damn flawless, and for most people, the pure Google experience is the preferred one. I also love MIUI to death, and I think the level and ease of customization is unparalleled anywhere in the mobile OS realm.

I use imilka's aosp, mostly because I love the tablet mode capability in that,
and if i want stock, I would use Team Rocket rom, version 1.6 is gonna be released tomorrow and it has lots of fix, So I hear.

CNA is better for me. Most stable ROM with many many tweaks and mods. And its super fast too. I like cm, but they recently "broke" butter to make better battery. I will wait for rc1. Crossbones is great, also has its own kernel, but i cant go back to slow updates after cna frequent updates. Damn flashing!

I am using AllianceROM from my signature. It is very smooth and snappy. It's TW based JB and it's nicely themed with OTAs and a lots of customizations. You can install with or without Samsung and Google apps. Just follow instructions.
I'm using Super Nexus 2.0
Pros:
Smooth and fast
No Bloatware
Great battery life
Cons:
None really. (some may say it is to much of a minimal ROM) but I actually like that
My favs
It's been about 15 months since i'm having my beloved Note, and i guess i flashed like 30 different ROM's on it, from GB's to JB's, CM, MIUI, literally everything. Let me mention my 2 favourites, The first one was this: [ROM][4.1.2][10/14] Cookies & Cream 1.3.0. Very highly customizable, smooth, and amazing battery life. The reason i stopped using it, cuz it has some flaws, i cannot save my contacts to the SIM card, or anywhere else, just to my Google, which i don't want. The other one problem was, there's no option to store the photos on your external SD card, only to the internal. Apart from this, a very good ROM. The next i'd like 2 mention is, my all-time fav, Chrack' s XXLRQ v16 Final. I'm using it for a while now, this is the most perfect ROM i ever used on my Note. Everything works perfectly, no FC's, lagging, smooth as melted butter, and it has probably the best battery life i ever experienced. Simply perfect ROM. I cannot recommend anything else more than this.
CM 10.1. Pure; like it should be.

Paranoid Android is the coolest but buggy
All the TW ROMS including stock are dealable and for a major manufacturer to make a ROM that u can actually use WO having to be an I-Drone then i think every veteran would say that's impressive!
but also that, basic functionality doesn't mean that a C student getting a C+ is someone i want to hire or give a medal...u don't get praise for making something that works, after a million failed attempts, especially when u are a zillion dollar company
All the TW ROMs are pedestrian and I never understood why people can't live wo S-Planner? You use a TW ROM BC u have a separate tablet, and u cant live wo SPen...omg are u kidding? hahahahaha
Start flashing virgins, there's no reason we cant direct mobile computing....u can lay down and accept whats given, which is for them, or u can demand the best and push the envelope
Really we just want the hardware...
Thanks Samsung for making a device that I-Drones might look at BC its big but no thanks on trying to make more Samsung drones.... Its not good for humanity, technological advancement or me personally
BTW i use Paranoid Android (Jelly Beer)

I'd really like to discuss some of the pro/cons/usefulness of certain tw features. I'll break down my opinion on a few and maybe some one can point out any better way to use these features or things I didn't consider
Air view-mostly useless Imo. Any info air view gives is faster to obtain by simply clicking.
Smart scroll- awful . Buggy as hell the only way I've gotten it to half way work is by setting it up to go by phone tilt and even then it randomly scrolls at times. Also you have to use the Internet app instead of Chrome and really who wants to do that?
Smart stay-pretty good feature imo. Only thing bad about it is it doesn't work great in low light.
Multi Window-one of the best features on phone only downside is the limited number of apps it supports.
Air gesture- hit and miss here some features are innovative and very useful some is pointless and stupid.
I have found quick glance and air jump very useful (air jump is a way better way of scrolling then smart scroll) the other features are easier to do by touching the screen so seem pretty pointless.

Did not know that! I am rooted will Definitely check that out. Going to be hard to choose asop vs tw when I flash a custom rom. Most tw features are pointless marketing crap but it will be hard to live with out the innovative useful tw features. I have been an AOSP guy for 3+ years. I have to say this newest version of TW is quite impressive compared to previous releases. Considering I have been using AOSP on a Nexus I just dont think I will be happy with it on this phone. AOSP was a just an overall let down on my wife's E4GT, it would have to be a vast improvement on that for me to even consider it.

Pretty much this right here with me as well right now. The problem is I would love a Stock TW rom that's been slimmed down quite a bit but still has things like AirView and Multi-Window in it. I will however give it some time to see how good the AOSP roms work for the S4 the E4GT roms were nice we has awesome devs but I have to admit some were just lacking very badly in terms of things not working right at times.

ForceROM has most of the bloat removed, but you can still utilize all of the Samsung wizardry like airview, multi window, etc...
IMO, the most polished AOSP/CM ROMs on E4GT wouldn't have even qualified for Alpha status on a Nexus device. That is not meant to be an insult to the devs at all. It is just hard to make AOSP play well on Galaxy devices.

You may not have to settle for one or the other...
Lead CyanogenMod developer and creator Steve Kondik has made an important announcement that will make Galaxy S4 owners leap with joy.
The custom ROM project is currently available in an experimental, nightly build for the T-Mobile version of the Samsung flagship smartphone. Moreover, the custom ROM is going to support Android’s hover events meaning that they’ll be open to developers to think of cool new software features in the line of Samsung’s Air View. Steve Kondik notes that there are “a few rough edges”, but as they get ironed out “in short order”, CyanogenMod 10.1 for the Galaxy S4 will be more than good enough for a daily driver.
