Help with D3 906 xt883 radio - Motorola Droid 3

Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I keep ending up with baseband unknown Imei unknown and all sorts of fun.
Did the 1click.exe flashed radio - nada, no baseband, no imei
did 1click, plus 906 update, radio, same
tried changing the build.prop, before after yada yada
final approach 1click.exe, 906 update, root, 906 build prop with GSM edits (permissions set to rw--r--r), radio.zip
still baseband unknown yada yada.....
Any input is helpful.
I've done this a rack of time on 860 and the 574 update, but this is giving me pure crazyness

You can try using my guide here to flash the stock 890 radio: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36032671&postcount=6
I have flashed it on a 906 without issue and works fine. Infact, the 906 radio I pulled from the update zip seems larger than where it goes, and errors during flash. So that may be your issue.

I'll give it a shot. My primary issue is not being able to get any of the XT863 radio's so I can use it on ATT. If I use the one click exe, the radio is fine. I can apply the .906 update and radio is still fine. But any stage or time I flash the XT863 radio, gone.
Anyone have a link to the XT863 2.3.6 radio? I have the one for 2.3.4, but I think that may be part of the issue.
Though I haven't tried flashing the .890 radio then flashing the XT863. I'll try that now

strange
I flash the 890 radio, all is well, XT883 Baseband unknown
Do the 960 update zip, all is well, XT883 on top of that Baseband unknown
flash back to 890 radio all is well.
Tried 2 xt883 radios, one thats 14,404 and one thats 14,408

Oh, you are trying to use it on att, you have to change the build.prop as well as flash the radio, else they mismatch and baseband is unknown. Use the xt883 radio in my zip then use the attached build.prop from this thread; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24379209&postcount=196 , put in /system with chmod 775.
Sorry for misunderstanding you the first time. Been real tired lately.

I did try changing the build.prop. But looking at chmod 775 I think I had the permissions wrong.
(Funny thing, Hashcode said the same thing about 10 minutes ago)
Thank you both. Giving it a try. Just setting up everything (java, drivers, adb, ect,) on a new os install.

Hmm, permissions are set right but now I get com.android.phone force closing
permissions are rw--r--r

Did a fresh install .906, moved the build prop, did permissions, fastboot radio, reboot, baseband unknown, com.motorola.phone force close
Argggh
I miss the good old days of .860

SUCCESS
Someone smack me......
Factory data reset and finally fixed.
Thank you for the Skreelink and Hashcode build.prop advice
Thank you to CellZealot for listening to me struggle with this...
Done, you may close the thread
But for anyone else with these issues
Here's what worked
Use the oneclick.exe, reboot, apply 906 update from sdcard, root, push build prop, fastboot radio.img, and factory reset wipe cache.
All is well

Did you use adb to push the build.prop? For some reason you have to factory reset if you do for it to work

I've personally always just used a root browser to move and set permissions. I can't say I've ever had to factory reset to get rid of force closes though... But glad to hear you got it working.

Depends where I'm move ng it from. Easier to adb push than move to sd and then /system. But if I've dl'd on my device than obviously root explorer is easier

If that's a fully restorable system, we could swap out the radio image for the one in the OTA update, and the system image could be anything we want, right?
Or will the system image need to be signed for this to work?

Changing the .zip will make it unflashable in stock recovery, unless someone has a key signer for a Droid3 . . . and I'm guessing not Or is this truly something that will work with
Code:
moto-fastboot flashall
However, if an enterprising individual were to flash the stock update/ROM in recovery, then manually flash our radio in fastboot, they might not end up with a brick.
...maybe . . . my recovery is iced, so it won't be me trying
I can't flash the update in recovery :/ otherwise I would try. I do have recovery access though. Wonder if swapping out portions of that xt862 file may be possible..? We need someone with the knowledge!

Just like with the other SBF, do not flash it. Stop thinking about flashing it. Stop thinking about thinking about flashing it. In the best case, you will brick your phone until we get an SBF. In the worse case, the Chinese government is already en route to your location.
DO NOT FLASH THIS SBF!

Baseband version numbers

I would like to know all of the baseband versions for each radio update of:
5.5.893
5.6.893
5.7.893
I have flashed 5.6.893 but i'm on system 5.5.893 at the moment.
my baseband is CDMA_N_03.1C.57R LTEDC_U_05.15.02
it seems as if it never changed
also I seen a screen shot of someone on 5.7.893 radio/kernel/system and they have the same baseband.
Do all three show the same? If so what can we use to show what kernel or radio we have. Is it the build number we look at. If so they are all those values for each update?
Im on 5.7.893, and have the same baseband.

It has a link for the stock radio. Now this when i got confused.
That is the file for the stock radio, but I don't think you can flash it if you have already updated to a newer one. You can only flash the radio with an "official" moto update. If anyone knows otherwise, please feel free to correct me.
yes i flashed it and it worked now im screwed for now. im on system 5.5.893 with that radio and the newest kernel. system mix match so no updates.

OK. I have been going around in circles for the past 24 hours trying to figure out which version I need to flash in order to actually get any data from the current radio.
I had flashed a version of updated software through stock recovery. I am not sure which one it was now that I have gone in so many circles.
Where I am at now though is that I did a full recovery/forever root and installed cheesecake with the forever root tool. Below is the phone info. Any information will help greatly as I am about to pull what little hair I have left, out!

I got it fixed. I forgot that I switch over to my Eris when I was having issues with this update a few days ago. When I got through with the update the phone would show the voice antennae reception, but not data because the 4G sim card was temporarily deactivated. I was a bit tired when I was doing all this and a bit frusterated only to find out most of my issues were caused by myself...Thanks for the help!

ICS Leak 6.16.217 Update zip, boot.img and crc

AS of 8/18 - You can download this directly from moto by checking settings>about phone>system updates
D4 6.16.217 ICS Leak files. Download and open the zip to find the update file, boot.img (named ICSFIX) and the crc. If too many of you jump on this at once the host my go down. Be great if someone could mirror. I have a very slow dsl upload speed here and no 4g. Took about 3 hours just to get this up.
D4 6.16.217.zip - 366.95 MB
If you using the the ICS only tool, then just add the ICSFIX.img to the files folder. Be sure you have the update zip on your sdcard or both the update zip and the crc in your cache.
Please note this is not a full rom. It must be installed over stock GB or if you are on a ICS leak using a jump method to install. The shortest method I know of is to flash in fastboot the GB system file, the preinstall, then the boot.img for the ICS leak and then in stock recovery the update zip.
I will install it when I get home tonight
Sent from my XT894 running ICS
Same here, once I have sometime tonight ill install and provide any info.

FYI - I was getting some weird installation messages about not being able to mount my userdata partition, I performed factory reset through the recovery, then rebooted and everything was resolved.
I think it was something like error code 7, can't remember exactly although it looked similar to this:
Code:

assert failed: mount("ext3", "MTD", "userdata", "/data")
E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)

So far so good... Don't notice much of a difference, but it's only been a few hours...
BTW, since I lost root I figured I might as well confirm (from my thread in the general forum from a while ago), it does default to the interactive governor instead of hotplug. I'm not sure how large a difference this makes in battery life though.
Yeah you have to reroot, but it works just fine still.

I have a D4 but I have not done any modding on it other than installing AOKP through recovery. The person I got it from had already flashed an ICS leak. Forgive my ignorance but I am unclear on some things surrounding the D4. Can I install this through CWM or does it need to be done with some other utility? I am also unclear on what leaks provided working voice and data on gsm. If possible can anyone confirm that this leak will allow me to use the D4 on GSM 850 and 1900? Thanks in advance.
Edit: So I reread the OP and I will try to get this running on the ICS tool, but if anyone can address my question about gsm bands, I would still appreciate it.

I got it running from the start. Did you use jsnweitzel's tool? Alle you need to do is replace the \Droid4 ICS Only\files\ICSFIX.img with the one from the zipfile. Place the 219/217~crc and 219/217~zip on your SD and you should be ready to go.
At least four other users succeeded. So nobody's wasting time here.

This is not a full rom but a patch to stock GB. I edited the op with a little more information. Those of us that have went from one leak to another already know this.

Tried to update, got an error, then wiped got another error. Ended up just flashing back to 215. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS.

Next time, try to factory reset then reboot and try to reapply the update.
Can you install/upgrade to ICS straight to .217 or do you need to install .215 then update with .217?
The page that the link from the ICS Tool thread links to only goes up to .215 for install/upgrading from GB
If you are on stock GB you can go straight to ICS 217. ICS 215 was the current leak when I wrote the ics only tool.

[Q] Nandroid of 4.4.2 wanted

Long story, but I lost my /system folder on my stock Att xt1058 running 4.4.2.
I have an unlocked bootloader.
Can anyone upload to a Dropbox, or somewhere else, just the system partition so I can restore via nandroid on TWRP? Otherwise I am stuck waiting for the SBF, since I can no longer downgrade.
Thanks

Well...
This is untested, but it is a flashable zip that I made from a dump of my ATT 4.4.2 /system. The kernel is included within the zip, but it is not automatically flashed, and you will need to use fastboot to flash it. (I intended this to be used with safestrap..)
165.44.1.ghost_att: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407581236
Let me know if this flashable zip works. I will post it with the instructions for locked bootloaders...
Will work on this in a few hours.
Just so I am clear, flash zip in recovery, pull boot.img out of the zip, and flash boot.img manually via fastboot. Right?

Exactly.
I see it was downloaded 9 times before me. I didn't have any luck with both TWRP and Philz's recovery. Flash stalled on "extracting system files" for 5+ minutes.
I would take the entire TWRP backup if you can upload that.
UPDATE: I deleted the boot.img out of the zip file, and it flashed, then manually flashed boot.img.
UPDATE 2: No radio, nor wifi to connect...Suggestions? I feel i am so close!

OMG, I think this file will help me to rescue my brick!!!!!
Can I manually flash this firmware on my device using fastboot tool?I have no idea about what safestrap is,please no hate.
It's still a WIP, after flashing, I didn't have radio. Will work on that tomorrow. If we get it going, I'll post something, with Ctrl-Freak's approval.

I can say that the 4.4 modem works fine with 4.4.2. Are you running a 4.4.x modem? If so, you might be experiencing "the radio" problem (One symptom, is that it shows "unknown" in status.)
This radio problem has plagued me in safestrap. No matter what 4.4.x rom I tried to flash, if I was already running 4.4.x, I could not TWRP /system, fastboot boot.img and keep a working radio. I had no idea the problem might persist with an unlocked bootloader's TWRP.
In the past, to fix the radio problem, I always need to downgrade to 4.2.2 (using fastboot->system, boot, modem and recovery.) Then I root, safestrap, load 4.4.x rom using safestrap's TWRP, then fastboot radio and kernel. After that the radio problem disappears.
However... Other people seem to be successful by doing a factory reset in safestrap's TWRP. For instance, look at these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/development/rom-krypton-v1-1-4-13-2014-t2716657
Safestrap Version
-If you are already on 4.4.2 then boot into Safestrap and factory reset, do not wipe the system then install to the STOCK slot.
-If your not on 4.4.2 then go here and follow the instructions from my stock rom thread http://rootzwiki.com/topic/116025-ro...52-kitkat-442/ I don't feel like reposting them in here.

Previously, I looked at a rom that was intended for the above instructions. That rom basically did the same as mine: It formatted and loaded /system.

Those are all Verizon Radio's. Do you think I can grab the ATT version 4.4 radio and manually flash? I have that sbf available. Or will the Verizon work in an ATT xt1058

Sorry. I wasn't telling you to get that rom or the Verizon radio, I was pointing out that a factory reset in TWRP may help with the radio issue.

So I am guessing that you took the OTA to originally get to 4.4.2. You should already be running that modem. If that is true, I would not change it.

I factory reset prior to installing, should i wipe /system as well? I am running AOSP roms (PAC) now, and there is no problem with the radio.
I took the OTA, so I dunno what the radio problem would be. Wifi wouldn't turn on either, so i dunno if it's just a radio issue.
i am fortunate to be unlocked bootloader, so i got a copy of the GPE xt1053 posted here as well, and it appears it will work. I think i am gonna try to flash that, then your files w/o a wipe. How does that sound? Unless you got other ideas.

I do not fully understand the radio/wifi issue, so all of my ideas would be trial and error. Give your plan a go and let us know. I would love to know what causes this issue, as a solution should help us using safestrap.
Another thought. Maybe I have to flash the radio, even though I haven't changed. Kind of like flashing the boot.img. I haven't changed that either, but it had to be flashed to boot.
Do you know where I can grab the radio IMG? Can't seem to find it around.
I supposed I can pull it from Att 4.4 sbf. Which files tho, just the Non-hlos.bin file? I don't have the xml here @ the office so I don't know what to look for.
Thanks again for your help

Found this...
it's OS 4.4 (140.44.5), will that run into the brick issue?
