I have Motorola Atrix HD bought from Ebay US. I want to use it with other carriers. So wanted to Unlock as well as root it.
So, I want to know whether Rooting will also unlock the phone?

Well, you can use the unlocking site that are on web to unlock the phone, it just here in the US that we cannot unless a carrier gives us the code.

Its illegal for them to sell it to you, or illegal for you to enter the code?
I doubt they will stop selling codes to USA citizens either way.
All that its just bull-s. I pay full price for my atrix hd...so i should do whatever i like with it, but they won't allow me to have unlock boot loader,root on my phone, and now i cant have it sim unlock? Bs.

If you wanted an unlockable phone, then you should've bought one. It was known before this phone came out that the bootloader would be locked.

Yes, it is illegal for us to purchase and use the code. The code if you get one has to come from the carrier in order for you not to be violation of the law.

lol Joker is not an application its a custom rom for our Atrix HD & no it does not unlock the phone as i have tried it.
currently there is no way of unlocking the phone without paying for the code.

that's what i thought. I looked at the houdini flashing tool and the revolution isn't listed as a device.
my friend who is looking to have the phone flashed said a guy on craigslist claims he can do it, but i'm doubting that guy is being totally honest, especially considering he wants to keep the phone for 4 days to do it.

That means that your on the V8 build of firmware on your LG. You will have to downgrade to V7 in order for that dialer code to work. They purposely took ##lgservicemenu out on v8 to keep people from flashing. I would write up a tutorial on how to do it but....

Miss CM7 from my D1. Wanted a D2G, but alas, locked up bootloader and no CM7 meant no love for me.
By the way, aren't we getting closer to that "promise" by Moto about unlocking the bootloaders by the end of the year?
Seems like that has gone by the wayside lately...big shock. Another broken Moto promise...SD card running on the Xoom sound familiar? 4gLTE via software patch that was downloadable? Need I go on? Sorry Moto, but your "promise credit" is no good.
Please devs, link to the nightlies as soon as available. I'm on board for flash-fest and test...lol.

Stop whining about what Moto have not done about the bootloader. The droid 3 is not even 3 month old yet, and there is no way Moto will unlock it anytime soon. If they promised to unlock it, then they most likely will. Take a look at the Atrix for instance.

Atrix was an internal testing leak. It's possible that we'll never see it and I honestly don't think we ever will. Would it be nice? Yes of course, but we will still have plenty of mods to make this phone even better.
Wait. It's on the way.
Hope it can also improve the signal or maybe a better radio..!!!

I will probably be on narcotICS until CM7 is released.
i cannot wait for CM7 for droid 3 to come out. i am willing to be a beta tester if there are any needed.
I know I'm a bit late to this party, but Moto said they would unlock the bootloader on their phones SUBJECT TO CARRIER APPROVAL.
Does anyone here really think Big Red will allow such a thing? I personally, don't hold out much hope for that.

Verizon obviously doesn't give a **** about the bootloader, since it's going to be the first carrier to release the Galaxy Nexus. And now that Google owns motorola I'm sure it'll happen eventually, but it doesn't really matter.
I am very excited for CM7 (or CM9 for that matter)! I have only had the Droid Pro and now the Droid 3 so I have never been able to really take advantage of it.
As simple as that, at the moment it is $100 from me. If method is found transaction can be arranged via PM/PayPal.
If folks here feel like bumping this up - post in this thread.

I live and work in Japan, and since I speak only a little Japanese, I got the S4 from a service provider called Docomo. I thought it would come with STranslate. It, for some reason, did not. Anyone have an APK for this file that I can download without rooting my phone (Do not want to Void the warranty just yet.
Phone would be perfect with it, It was a big deciding feature on buying it.... Pretty sure all I need is the APK. Thanks guys!
It may be because I bought the blue Version which is only available in Japan (At least thats what the girl who sold it told me, mind she could have been meaning something else and it just got lost in translation...)

I tried installing the apk through direct download. It kept saying application not installed. I am not sure how to properly do it. I can't open in bootloader as I am not rooted..... and I am not sure about the codex and what I am supposed to do with that. I'll try a bit more.
Lol it should say Odex. I must have overlooked the fact you are stock and not rooted. I normally just use a file explorer and place those 2 files in system/app but if you are not rooted this will not work. All apologies

I've never used it but I don't trust them... Your best route is to go to your carrier and see if they will unlock it
