Hallo!
I think i am not the only one with such a issue.
I was using SlimWizz ROM and that was working with 64gb sd card just fine.
Then i tryed to use some other rom and the problem started - CWM doesnt see that card and now no one rom see it. When tryin 4GB card its all ok, but with 64gb no more fun
Any sugestions?
[EDIT]
Cyanogen mod nightlies 10.1 - doesnt see exFAT (i think all CM/AOSP doesnt...PA doesnt see exFAT as well and AOKP too)
[EDIT 2]
Now i am going to try TWRP 2.4.0.0 Touch Recovery witch is claimed to support exFAT on CM10.1 if so, then ill be very happy
Well now... I tried 64GB exFAT fomated with no success. Now i formated my 4GB card to exFAT ...card in unvisible Now will format back to FAT32 and see what then.
64gb cards can only be formatted on exFAT, a file system I think it's not supported by the recovery.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Ok i found that Cyanogen mod and AOSP doesnt recognize exFAT.

you can format the card with fat32 and it should work,
check this thread
Yea... i formated it in CMD to FAT32 and all is ok
cmd->
format /FS:FAT32 E: [where E: was my SDcard]

I'm not absolutely sure, because mine was formatted long time ago, but afair formatting was done by specialised Windows app (no DOS involved) and did not take that long, closer to few minutes I think
All GUI are just GUI for comands (/format)
And few minuter for 64GB ... not possible

Yup, I know, there's command line beneath everything, it's that some apps use different commands, e.g. "quick format"...
Again - afair - in the other 64GB thread should have info on how-to
I allready did it and all work just fine
so no more problems bro!
thx
Mount 64GB SD
Hi,
Mount 64GB SD takes too long time. After a reboot, or disconnect after a Mass Storage session, even after the message "prepare SD card ... " disappear, when using root explorer to access it I must open/reopen a lot of times and waiting for the message "prepare SD card" appears again to be able get a real access. Is it normal ? Is there a mean to get rid of that problem ? Thanks.

Cant get a2sd working. Have tried 2 different sd cards. Both 8GB, one class4 and one class6.
Have tried partitioning via RomManager and thru recovery menu.
Both times when OS loads, get the message "SD card blank or has unsupported file system"
Using freshly-flashed Azure 0.5, any help appreciated.

Just read that as you posted it. Thanks. Feelin' kinda foolish now that was my first post... lol.
Ok, so I've been in the world of iPhone jailbreaking for awhile, but freely admit to being a Nookie newb. I was wanting a cheap tablet and after reading about what's available for the Nook Color, I decided to take the plunge.
All was great at frst, I made a CWM 3.2.0.1 bootable SD card on an old 1gb microSD I had laying around and loaded CM 7.1.0 RC1 and the recent June gapps and it all went fairly smoothly. I installed both CWM and CM7 to the internal memory, I then used another 4gb microSD as a data card to try things out a bit. It was awesome! I went out and purchased a 32gb class 10 card with the idea that I was now gonna get serious and load my data onto it. This was also recognized right away.
Now, I'm not sure exactly when it happened, but at some point the SD card disappeared on me. The last time I'm sure it worked is when I decided to load the #144 nightly build of CM7 when I was able to make a backup of RC1 onto the SD card before upgrading using ROM Manager
As of right now, my Nook can not mount or boot from any SD card. Not even CWM can mount them (let alone CM7). I've tried going back to the 4gb and even the 1gb bootable card, but nothing seems to work (multiple hard and soft resets into both CM and CWM). I've tried all three cards in my PC and they are all perfectly readable there, but almost no reaction from the Nook when I insert one. Occasionally (as in twice), with the 4gb card, the Nook has noticed that an SD was inserted, but it thought the card was not formatted and would not mount it. I haven't figured out how to reproduce even that reliably. Not sure what I did (if anthing) that allowed it to get that far.
Any ideas? I find it hard to believe that it could be the Nook itself that's broke, but I'm running out of ideas. My Nook is still running fine (otherwise) on CM7 nightly build #144, but without the ability to mount or boot from SD I'm stuck on this release since both ROM Manager and CWM need one to work. Not to mention that the internal storage isn't really enough to do anything with.
I'm a newb to Android and CM7, but I know Unix / Linux well. Does anyone know the device name for the sd card (e.g. /dev/hd???). Is there a way I can try and mount it manually (vold doesn't seem to be working)? Any logs I can check (syslog???) for possible clues as to why it's not mounting? Any other ideas?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

If your Linux experience is like mine, using Root Explorer and Terminal Emulator to poke around will be illuminating. It's all the same, but it's all different...
Did you try using Settings/Storage to erase a spare SD card? Be sure to get the SD card named SD card and not emmc (although it's pretty much unused by default, it's not what you're trying to test).
Flashing a nightly or the RC should blow away any nastiness that might have happened with vold's configuration files.
The device name for the SD card is /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 (direct) or /dev/block/vold/179:17 (mine mounts here with vold).
If you get Terminal Emulator installed, try:
% su
# mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 /sdcard
or
# mount /dev/block/vold/179:17 /sdcard
and see what happens.
Good luck! You might just get an errno message like No such device or No such media, in which case I'm thinking hardware failure on the NC, since your cards work elsewhere.

Yeah, treid that a bunch. It just doesn't see anything there.

Catch 22, can't flash a new nightly without a working SD card. ROM Manager saves to /sdcard and CWM loads it from there. I'm trying to pull some magic where I've swapped /sdcard and /emmc in vold.fstab. This has worked and re-enabled apps that need sdcard storage (and given ROM Manager a place to download ROMs). Next, I'm gonna symlink /sdcard to /emmc and hopefully CWM will be able to apply them from there. Wish me luck.

Thanks, I'll see if I can mount that device to /emmc for testing purposes before making the plunge to reflash a new nightly.

Yeah, I'm fearing that, but not sure how it could have failed. Right now, just seeing the actual error might tell me a lot.

Hmmm, I don't have those devices...
Can you post the output of "mount" and an ls for /dev/block and /dev/block/vold? It'll help to see what it's supposed to look like.

I'm back up! I had to re-image my bootable 1gb SD from scratch. I was then able to boot from SD and flash back to RC1. I suspect that Windows somehow "licked" my bootable SD to make it not bootable anymore in the Nook. After re-imaging the SD and flashing to RC1, my 32gb card was usable again too, so now all is good.
Thanks for the assistance!

I haven't tried it, but there is a DD version for Windows which might get around some of the issues with Windows imaging software: http://www.chrysocome.net/dd.
Ok so i bought this verbatim microSD 16gb class4...at first it worked fine on my xperia x8...but today it just decided to not be located at all...
On my pc the card is working properly with the card reader and i tried another sd on my x8, and it worked too..but the 16gb still wont be located...i tried everything from formating it to reboot etc...i tried the 16gb one on a x10mini but no luck either...
any recommendations?
oh and the shop said that they cant do anything cause this maybe my fault
Please help...
I had the same problem with 8gb class 4.
I did like what you did.
Finally it didn't work, I returnd it back to the store.
What I understood is: class 4 sd cards are not working on our x8.
because I asked the guys here and they were answering that they have a working sd cards on x8 but with classes like 2,8,10 not 4!
Sent from my X8 using xda premium
1Fawwaz thnx for your reply
but i could use it for about 2-3 days...and the same happened with an 8gb card but i dont remember of what class..
any ideas anyone?
[UPDATE]
After many experiments i found out that my card was working with thsd card adapter that SE provided once...the one that is like a usb stick...but with a MicroSD to SD adapter,my card wont be located by my pc...
[UPDATE 2]
The card is working fine on my sony ericsson yari.
also i read through the forum that others are using class 4 and its fine..so i cant see why mine wont work...come on guys..you have fixed far more complicated issues...

If the adapter you refer to is really a mSD to SD adapter then your PC would do the right thing(TM). To read a mSD you need a MicroSD to SDHC (<--!!!!) adapter.
SD, SDHC and SDXC are three totally different standards not really compatible to each other.

Then there you have your confirmation that the card is actually working.
If the X8 and X10 is refusing the card, then you may have hit a incompatibility (EDIT: that's why it is important to either straighten it out with the dealership that you can return the card in case it doesn't work or that you can try the card right there in front of the eyes of the shop dude). The only way would be to swap the card with one of another brand (like Kingston or SanDisk ... I wouldn't buy Verbatim crap).
In theory the X8 should be able to accept mSD's up to 32GB.

True, I used a 8GB Kingston Class 4 mSD with my X8 - worked flawlessly.
thnx for your reply..

Question is ...
- If you're running a custom ROM ... you tried another one?
- If you're running Stock ... you tried a custom ROM?
Also ... try putting the card into a _working_ mSD adapter and ERASE the partition that's on it. Then "Safely remove" the card reader / card from your PC and put the EMPTY (unpartitioned) card back into the phone. From there you have two options you can try ...
1. Try to partition and format (FAT32) the card in ClockworkMod recovery and see if it works now.
2. Boot up Android and format the card through Android (I think it's "Memory and Storage" in "Settings")
I tried with both stock and GingerDX...same result...im going to try this and post reply in some minutes..
nothing....i tried to partition with CWM..no luck....
I partitioned it with Partition Wizard..no luck again...
pfff...why it just denies to locate it?i was working just fine :S
I take CWM actually recognized the card even at its correct size.
The last thing you can do now is to look through logcat to see if the log holds any hints about why the card isn't recognized/mounted.
You better do that through adb as it's a medium pain in the rear to do that in the Terminal Emulator on the phone.
If you find something that could be related to the issue at hand post it here; maybe the error message carries something that would give a clue.

i tried that still wont work. could it be a rewrite demon on the sd. the cwm on the cm7-2.0.7 can read my sd i dont understand why the cwm in the ics kernel cant. ive put cm9 on 3 other x8s and ive never had this problem.
turn on your phone without sdcard first..
then use card reader to check your sdcard..check the format is FAT not NTFS
put those files in your sdcard..
after that turn off your phone, and insert your sdcard and turn it on again!

mount sd-card
ok, i think i figured this out, and i have had to register in order to share my findings. i was having the exact same problem, bootloader unlocked the kernel flashed and couldn't access the sdcard.
what i did...this worked for me with a 2gb sdcard
1. in the clockwork menu partitioned a 1024 partition and if i remember correctly the 256 swap. it takes about 1 minute dont worry if nothing seems to be happening.
2. i was then able to mount usb storage
3. passed the rom and gapps to sdcard through usb, and installed from sd no probs
4. after configuring minicm went back to try and partition the full size of the sd card but wasnt able to for some reason. maybe some light could be shed??
hope ive helped anyone and thaks to this thread.

Hi,
I installed CM 12 following the instruction provided by [ROM][WIP][STABLE][UNOFFICIAL] CM-12.1 2015-11-22 in Fire Original Android Development.
Easy to do and works perfectly but my 64 Go MicroSDXC is not seen anymore by CM.
It works perfectly on the original Fire OS.
I format the card as propsoed in one post but still not recognized.
Is there a solution ?
Thanks in advance

I've had issues with the same card on stock firmware. My only solution wss to use a different brand card...
Hi,
Is this a problem with the card or simply a part of the system they havent fixed on CM for the fire yet? I have the same problem with a Silicon Power 64GB up to 85MB/s MicroSDXC UHS-1 Class10, Elite Flash Memory Card with Adaptor (SP064GBSTXBU1V20SP) and need to know if I need to return it or not. Works fine in recovery.
Scratch that...I simply had to hit erase sd card on the phone and it formatted it properly
on Samsung S2.

The card is not viewed at all, so impossible to erase and format from the fire.
In fact a FAT32 format from a PC works. Thanks to an old post about same issue with CM on Samsung S2. Google to find the FAT32 foramt tool.
It has been mentioned elsewhere in this forum that cm cannot see exFAT formatted cards as of now. Only Fat32.
By default, FireOS formats as exFAT.

Use Fat32 format, the card will be recognized.
If your SD card isn't being seen in CM try powering off and back on(not via reboot). On my CM install if you hit reboot my card doesn't show up under storage upon reboot, only if fully powered off and then back on.
I think the reboot feature in CM maybe doesn't remount the sd card on reboot or something......
