Hi folks,
I feel like a noob here.
When I have tried to update the phone the new formware I couldnt get into flashmode. This initially did not worry me as I have seen loads of posts about this and I know how to sort it.
I got home from work and unistalled all android software (Fastbbot, adb, sdk, pccompanion, sues) and reinstalled them. I tried again, no luck.
Now i thought i would try my wifes phone. Its not rooted. It went into flashmode straight away, so now I am ata loss.
Flashtool recognises my phone when turned on, it says all drivers are ok, but i get nothing on my phone when i try to connect it turned off...
Now, if anyone wants to help me and call me a noob please do...but this one has me vexed...
EDIT, Dont shout, I have already asked mods to move this to the Q&A section
Probably too much to say that you already tried a hard shutdown?
Else try a stock ROM/kernel. Maybe something went wrong with your current kernel

Tried it already. 3 vibrations, no luck
Also no output from flashtool?
I noticed once I didn't see led, but it was in flash mode..

you are pressing down not up on volume right mate?
did that myself a few times
You would get blue led in that case. So would be kinda obvious

Look guys, I can get my wife's phone into flash mode and she has an Xperia T, so it is nothing to do with which button I am pressing. I use the same cable and same usb port...
The last time I tried to get into flashmode or fastboot was before Xmas,
It is definitely to do with my phone..I really can't understand why flashmode is not connecting, in previous experience that has worked in all circumstances, but now nothing... Even though flashtool recognises the phone with the correct drivers when it is turned on...

My last guess is it's something in the Rom. Try flashing a 4.0.4 system.sin via fastboot, and access cwm to do factory reset (btw, you did try a different kernel right? You said you did it but wasn't clear of you meant only hard shutdown or kernel too)
My experience is also that it always works. Haven't encountered something like you have before so only shouting some possibilities.
Do say if you already tried something I say ofc.
Something else you can try is different pc (if you have access to one) Have heard of some cases that that did the trick

Sv: Flashmode advice
I had similar problem with my v some weeks ago, have two thoughts, have you switched between stock and cm kernel? Have you tried another pc?
Sent from my Xperia V using xda premium
Again, thanks for the advice but a couple of things.
I can't change kernel because the phone is not entering fast boot mode
I can't flash a stock ftf because the phone is not entering flash mode
Its not the pc because it works on my wife's Xperia t
I have already done a factory rest.
After work today I am going to try flashing a 303 Ron in recovery and hope I can do an ota update and hope that works...

Have you tried doing adb reboot bootloader to get into fastboot rather than doing it manually on boot? Or does adb not work either?

Hmm, Interesting,
first time i did it it just reboot the device
Second time, it briefly entered fastboot (Blue LED) PC started to install S1 boot driver then the phone rebooted and the driver failed to install
Third time, phone went into fastboot and stayed there but no sign of a driver install.....

I cant get into fastboot manually, only by using adb reboot bootloader.
Now the next thing to ask is, well are your volume buttons broke, but no, they work fine to turn the volume up and down with so its not that.
I have just managed to flash a different kernel so will try flash tool again.

Yes, that gets me into fastboot, but i need to get into flashmode to repair the phone.
I am a bit of a nivice at adb
Currently I am charging my phone ready to try a repair. Now I have flashe d another kernel I will give it a go again. If this doesnt work I willflash a stock kernel and try and that...
It's possible to force a full power-off of the phone (not just a three-vibrations one).
I am not keen to post the instructions on the forum, as it isn't the nicest of methods (but it doesn't require you to open the case). PM me if you have no other options (if you can hook onto UART to see what is going wrong, that might be best)

Fastboot -w all
Will wipe data and caches, so should clear what ever is triggering the bypass of flashmode.
If really desperate you can also -w system, but then have no os... Handy if the os is causing the bypass, but not helpful if it's the bootloader..

Hi there,
I just bought the Xperia Z and I think it's awesome! I rooted successfully (unlocked bootloader). The only problem is the fastboot. I am trying to install CW recovery and I need the FASTBOOT. I turn it off and press the volume up and wait, and wait and nothing.... Am I missing something? Should I install anything else to activate the fastboot? I've searched everywhere for the answer but all I find is the way to root but I already did.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

I have a problem with fastboot too. I already have the fastboot drivers installed in Windows, but I'd prefer to have them on Ubuntu too.
Does anyone know where I can find the fastboot drivers compatible with Ubuntu 12.10 or the upcoming 13.04?
Thanks.

You are stuck in a boot loop. If your phone is rooted refresh the rom or try clearing your cache partition. If not only the company repair centres can help you. (useless in this case). Try some other repair centre.

OK here is how to check if your drivers are installed properly. Use flash mode and plug your device in ( you should see a green LED)
Then open settings/ device manager
If there is not triangle with a ! In it, you are good to go.
Also, if you are on Windows 8, you have to disable driver certificate enforcement first.

OK. I am not very experienced with Sony devices but I am sure there must be a way to enter the bootloader. Usually you can't do anything wrong with the bootloader. Search on the net for a way to enter the bootloader. Then enter recovery mode. If you can't then you don't have recovery installed. If you do then great. If you don't have recovery use a root toolkit for your device.
Press the thanks button if you feel I have helped you!

If you have a broken touch panel but the screen is still good enough to see, all you need to do is get a USB OTG adapter/cable (micro USB plug on one end and a computer USB socket on the other) and a USB mouse. Plug the mouse into your Android device via the USB OTG and it will give you a mouse pointer on screen which can be used to do any single touch action you would normally do. This works in TWRP's recovery too.

Reflash stock firmware from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=52630436 useing flashtools http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1943886.
After doing this if you want to put a custom recovery on the phone I would suggest you flash Dooms kernel from here in fastboot mode, you can get it here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52653410.
If you then want to re-root the phone flash chainfire's update SU zip from recovery, this can be obtained here: http://download.chainfire.eu/396/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.94.zip, then download the SuperSU app from the google store.
Just a quick note, Dooms kernel only works on stock firmware.
Hopes this helps :fingers-crossed:

Go to the falshtools folder, in there is a folder named drivers, install the exe, when it prompts you select all the drivers, really can't hurt you.
Open the flashtools application and click on the lighting icon and select fastboot mode, click on browse and direct it to where your downloaded firmware is the select flash, wait for it to prompt you to connect your phone, at this point hold down the vol down button and connect the USB, wait for all to flash then unplug the USB and boot your phone.

Have you tried to repair it via pc companion? If you unlock your bootloader in that situation you will lose your drm keys. It's just soft bricked. How did you install cmw?

I forgot about the digital rights management, seeming all the music I buy gets converted to lossless you can see why it never crossed my mind.
Ok, if you still want to use flashtools, unlock the bootloader here http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
If not open pc companion, click on how to connect my phone, a screen will pop up, click on repair phone, and follow the instructions.
Sorry for the late reply been bogged down with my company paperwork

I don't know if things are different with the T and V, but I've used Flashtools on my TX while having a locked bootloader... so I don't know how much truth there is to that statement; correct me if I'm wrong.
