I started to have that problem on 2.0.6 on HD with another launcher. I found it selective which Widgets did not load. Updating to the latest version of the widget sometimes helped.

Fwiw go launcher hd doesn't have a problem.

Ohhh ... better use then Nova Launcher. Smooth, fast, stable and tons of options (for beginner and advanced).
Hope i end tweaked, modified and optimized theme, based on Nova Launcher and Ultimate custom widget (UCCW). I like Nook simplicity and conciseness. Also i try then inverted version. These are my plans. This alpha i post here too, maybe someone want it.

Best launcher?

So I think I tried every launcher in the market and I can't decide. I'm running fusion right no and adw fc on me all day. Launcher pro kills the battery, there's four other ones but they aren't customiable like adw or LP any ideas?
I use zeam

+1. Its paid but worth it.

i almost always end up back with launcher pro
I started with adw on an htc magic, switched to launcher pro, kept launcher pro when I got my captivate, started using Go, and am currently running adw. Going to check out zeam, but unless it has some feature I really love, I expect I'll buy adw ex and stick with it.

I use ADW EX and it's the best launcher I've used out of Launcher Pro (massive battery drain for me), Panda Home (laggy), Open Home (laggy), Go Launcher (not my type), Zeam (very good minimalist theme but also not my type)

Launcher pro has been known to drain battery on people's battery faster than usual. I used the latest one and silk had the same issue which made me switch to ADW EX

Go launcher ex, Go launcher ex, Go launcher ex.
Oh, and Go launcher ex. Swipe gestures on dock icons and sorting my app drawer into folders has made it by far the best launcher I have used so far.

Has it been known to drain battery or have a lot of people that don't really know what there talking about said it does. Not sarcasim I'd actually like to know this because I don't understand why it would do it to others but not me.

Hmm same as the last version I used.
Side note go launcher is really nice too.
I'm using LauncherPro (paid) for a few months now and love it.. I've tried most of the popular ones always go back to LP. Haven't tried Go Launcher EX yet though, so I'll give it a spin and we'll see!
Zeam Launcher
Zeam Launcher - first tried it on DocKitchenRoms, and then kept it. It's small, simple, fast, supports customizable up and down swipes, customizable bottom buttons/icons, custom grid settings, transparent app list, auto-rotation etc. Free. Worth trying. Crashes when selecting wallpaper, but setting sticks.
I use it with Smooth Calendar widget - also transparent with custom colors.
Battery life with it pretty good on Torch 1.5 ROM, can have up to 4 days on standby and talk.
I use ADW...
It's fully customizable.
Home Screen -
Customize your homepage icons images, size and text.
Fully customize the dock. (icon size, number of icons, hide dock bg)
Customize widget sizes.
Customize number of rows and columns.
Set homescreen scroll speed and overshoot.
Add pages.
Set any page as default homescreen.
Lots more!
App Drawer -
Custom app grouping and labeling.
Customize number of rows and columns.
Set animation time.
Fade icon labels.
Switch between pages or vertical scrolling.
Much more!
Not too bad for free!
I enjoy ADW. It's simple, effective and runs VERY stable on my Captivate. I have not had ADW Force Close on me, not once. The damn thing runs flawlessly across almost all versions of Android OS.

Miui Launcher on Droid 3

For those of you who are Miui fans out there, I ran into a Miui Launcher. And it's as close as it gets to the official ROM's launcher. From no app drawer, to the dock, to the widgets, to the themes. After editing my build.prop and changing my VMheap and Maxperseconds or whatever that one is, I went back to the Stock Launcher and there were no redraws or any problems. I love Miui icons so i installed custom shorcuts from the market to add my Miui icons to my frequently used apps on my stock launcher. I love the blur effect when switching from screen to screen. Then Unfortunately, i ran into a problem. I found this Miui Launcher and man it is pretty amazing! Now i don't know which launcher to use so ima sleep on it and hopefully I can make a decision based on your feedback but check it out. I left the link to share with ya'll!

Yours truly,

Miui seems cool to me, and that theme looks good, but I personally have no problem with the stock one (yet, As I'm still new to android devices). Only thing I'm trying to change is the notification bar.
How do I remove this launcher and revert back to stock?
Just go to settings applications then manage, and uninstall the miui launcher

Nova launcher wallpaper issue

Hi ! I am running nova launcher on ICS 4.03 Rocket ROM 1.5 . I have an issue with this launcher's wallpaper rendering. The wallpaper suddenly becomes zoomed in and pixallated on this launcher and the only remedy is to switch back to TW launcher and then comeback to nova launcher. Is there a permanent solution to this bug ? Thanks.

I haven't seen that on my Note. Could be the ROM. I'm using the leaked Chinese Rom repackaged for N7000 with Nova Launcher and it's rock solid.
I haven't got that problem either, and also using nova launcher with deodexed stock 4.0.3.. It really may be rom problem..

[Q] Nova crashes and Apex Stutter?

Hi,
I use Nova prime for some time, and I like it..
However, it now and then crashes. I don't know what the cause of the crashes is...
Since the last update there seem to be less crashes...
I made it a system app, and added an entry in build.prop so it stays in memory, but still the crashes are there. Very annoying.....
Apex gives me also the layout I like, but it stutters while switching homescreens, unless you remove the labels from the icons.
(I am on LRQ, with Hydracore OC, but on stock kernel the same happened)
I use the calender widget and google reader widget from Android Pro widgets, and a clock from Beautiful Widgets.
Anyone knows how I can get rid of the Nova crashes, or the stutter of Apex?
Thanks!
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Apex under Advanced settings is keep in memory option, try that. Also with Titanium Backup you can convert Apex or Nova to a system app. I have had some success with those in the past. I found LRQ to be a little too buggy for my tastes.
I am using the beta version and dunn have any crashes. Maybe you can try it also ?
Yes it's true. the problem solve when used beta version
if on custom safe kernel, reboot recovery and fix permissions. That might fix the closures.
If on JB then probably due to memory leak. Reboot device.
Laginess can be caused by errors and processes running a lot. Check logcat for stuff.

I have tried Apex beta and it still stutters switching home screens unless you disable the icon labels or use tablet mode (is without labels)
App drawer is smooth just as the none beta.

And now the Nova beta... Waiting for the crashes.....

Hello guys,
I would like to find a lancher with the ICS style on my X8 that has the miniCM7 (so with Gingerbread).
I tried to download such launchers as Apex or Nova from the Play Store but it says that they are not compatible with the Xperia X8.
Can you suggest me any ICS launcher which is compatible with the X8 (and Gingerbread)?
Thank you in advance.
P.S. I already saw this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1453440, but there a lot of launchers and I'd want any your suggest from what launcher I have to choose.

you cannot download any such thing from play store because it considers our device to be at 2.1. try downloading from third party source.
and they are called ICS launcher because they require ICS to run so you wont find any for GB roms
Use adw launcher
Latest one..

From what I can remember X8 custom ROMs use the xperia arcs fingerprint so its not about the play store thinking were at 2.1.
And OP if you bothered to read the description you would see you need android 4.0+ to run them.
Use Holo Launcher if you want an ICS themed launcher on GB.

and if u want m0re.use h0l0 l0cker f0r jelly bean l0ck screen
Thank you, Holo Launcher works fine!
Now, if I want a ICS theme, how should I do?
I tried this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18573172# but it seems to not work properly.. it gets me an error when I choose it from the Theme Chooser.

Make sure you downloaded MDPI version of the theme. And if any error appear just click 'apply anyway'.

The Holo apps are nice and work well, but are unfortunately battery hogs.
I still use Holo Launcher but I disabled Holo Locker because it was reducing battery life by 50%.
Just go to play store (need to be a rom with 2.3+) and download Holo Launcher or even Apex... I'd recommend you ADW uses less ram. It might work for you! Good luck!

apex on 2.3? :sly::what:
The best way: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306594 Maybe it not exacly ics launcher but it's fully bugfree, very fast and smooth.

That's a lot of steps and a lot of work.
The REAL best way:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2289009
Two steps:
1) Apply theme
2) Install Holo Launcher
That's it. In less than three minutes you have ICS on your GB ROM.
Wicked fast, smooth, bug-free, identical to ICS in almost every way. The only thing you don't get is the status bar and the ICS status bar wastes space anyway.
But holo is very laggy. It's really not much work, just change dock background and icons (if you've got ICS theme you don't have to).

Not for me. Try increasing the scrolling cache.
Also clear the data for Google Services Framework.
Holo with x8 is laggy, it's just non smooth. I've got clean rom with high oc and lp is much more smoother.
Are you listening?

Yeah, you already wrote that. Did you increase the size of your scrolling cache like I told you?
Go to Launcher Settings > Desktop Settings > Scrolling Cache. The higher the quality, the more memory it uses.
Do the same for Settings > Drawer Settings > Scrolling Cache.
If you have the cache set to "none" or "low quality" it will be laggy. Try "Normal Quality" or "High quality" until your lag goes away.
Any lag in an Android phone is always caused by either user misconfiguration or file corruption. A very common reason for a laggy phone is a corrupted mp3 on your SD Card. A bug in Android's Media scanner will keep scanning the file, slowing your phone. The lag will get worse the longer your phone is on since boot.
Yes, I can read, I can listen. I've changed those settings but it didn't help. I've done a little test:
I flashed litecm7 by fabe yesterday then I instaled only 4 or 5 apps so it almost clean. I'm using oxydo zcf 4 with 787mhz max oc on smartass h3.
So I installed 3 launchers:
- pre instaled (in this rom) launcher pro
- holo launcher (from market)
- adw launcher (from market)
All of those I've set exacly the same: 3 home screens, without translations anims, on center screen stock android clock and 4 shortcuts and on right screen power toggle widget. And I've tested smoothness.
My feelings:
- launcher pro - absolutly lag free, even with 3d app drawer
- adw - no lags in homescreens, almost no lags in appdrawer - even with fancy ics animation and transparent background
- holo - laggy!!! Yes I've changed settings but it didn't help! Appdrawer works smooth but homescreens are horrible, even with disabled shadow.
