Can i streatch out put to 1080? - 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know this kindle is less than 1080 resolution.
But I wonder when i stretch the screen in 1080 monitor.
Because when I connect my Kindle with a HDMI cable to watch a HD movie on my 27inch 1080 monitor, Of course, the move was surrounded by black bars....
I wish I can stretch the screen to full screen at least.
Dose any body know?

I have the same question..
Sent from my KFTT using Tapatalk 2

I also have had that issue, except when I was using the Youtube HD app, the widescreen video was working fine. Then I switched to my holo launcher hd homescreen and then those black bars on either side came back.

kindleuserjp,
You need to use a Video Editing Software to remove the black bars, here is an example and a free package for you to download:

Sometimes when you download a video and then try to reproduce it on your Kindle or TV, there appear distracting black bars on both sides or along the top and bottom of the video. It means that the aspect ratio of the video differs from the one of your TV.
The two most popular aspect ratios are 4:3 and 16:9. 4:3 is a standard TV format, while 16:9 is a format of high-definition TV and monitors. Some people bow to the inevitable trying to pay no attention to black bars, but others are getting mad. Well, in case you belong to the second group, read this article to learn how to remove black bars and prepare your video file for watching on your TV/home cinema.
Everything you need is a video file you want to watch and a program that will help you to remove black bars easily and without quality loss.
Freemake Video Converter
Let’s look at Freemake Video Converter. This version is available for download here.
Run the program and using “+Video” button add the video with black bars you want to cut. Then go to “File” – “Options” – “Black bars” and select “delete black bars”. Choose one of the video formats or devices in green bubbles at the bottom of the program (AVI, MP4, WMV, MKV, Apple, Sony, Android etc) and, in case you don’t want to reduce file size or change anything else, click “Convert” to apply changes. Since my video was not too long it took me a couple of seconds to have it converted.
The pros of Freemake Video Converter are:
Free
Multiple language support
User-friendly interface
Many supported input and output formats
High conversion speed
High quality of output video

unfortunately i don't think this is the answer.
Because the video itself is 16:9 already. in fact if i watch the video on my pc with monitor (16:9). There is no problem at all. Just onece if i transfer the video into my kindle, black bar stared showing. since kindle is not 16:9, even when the kindle is connected to 16:9 monitor, video is going to be shown as whatever the aspect ration of Kindle. There must be some video player which solve this problem simply.

Jessica Alba - Sin City Animated Wallpapers for S2U2 (Portrait and Landscape)

ANIMATED GIF Wallpapers of Jessica Alba from Sin City. Nearly all of them I was able to produce a matching portrait and landscape variations
I've spent some time ripping a 640x480 AVI from the HD video. Then converting the AVI into thousands of GIFs, putting them together, framing it for portrait and another copy for landscape and then running it thru some optimizations to try to cut down the filesizes. It took me a while to figure it out and trying all kinds of different video editing/conversion software, but I'm happy with the results. And happy to share it with my favorite PPC community
- 2 Quality Levels. 256 color depth and 32 color depth. As of initial versions no blur effect has been added.
- Accurate Movie Speed. 1/5 the original frame rate but adjusted to be as close as possible animation speed.
- Sub 10sec Duration. Some of the animations that exceeded S2U2's 10 second timeouts have been shorted and frame rate adjusted where seen fit.
Hope everyone likes them as much as I do. Feel free to share this with any other websites but please give me a shoutout for my effort in putting them together
Special thanks to A_C for the great work he's done with S2U2.

I would love to get this one to loop smoothly. It currently goes from surprised/shock to a beautiful smile. I tried deleting the first couple frames so it'll be all smiles but her head position sinks just a little bit so its not as smooth as a transition.
Thanks for your hard work !! They look great
Yeaah boy!! damn.. can't imagine the amount of time you put into this!
Thanks!!!
Oh.. you might want to try looping some of the really nice tidbits to maintain a high fps. But great work nonetheless.
HOT HOT HOT Stuff!!!! Your hard work is looking good!!!
Great awesome work!
I like your help to know what software did you use to create this mind blowing .gif? I want to create a *.gif for my personal portairt to show up when my phone starts.
Also, where did you get the software as well to create this high class *.gif.
Keep the great work!

Once you have a video source you can use Rad Video Tools (Donation-ware) to convert into a GIF.
http://www.radgametools.com/bnkdown.htm
Rad Video lets you convert from a bunch of common video formats into other video formats and even frame-by-frame still images. When I ran my video thru RadVideo it created like 2500 GIF files for the couple minute scene. I flipped thru them and deleted the ones I didn't want. Then I used Adobe Image Ready's import feature.
Image Ready CS lets you import a whole folder worth of GIFs and turns the frames into a single animation. It will put them in the correct order too because Rad Video names them sequentually. All you have to do at that point is save them using "Optimized As...". If you save normally it'll want to save it as a PSD.
Also to get the proper cropping for portrait and landscape I had to do it manually by adjusting the canvas size for each version. I couldn't figure out how to move all the frames at one time which may have been easier. But either way it worked out fairly quickly.

Background image size?

Anyone know the correct pixel dimensions of an image i want to use for my home screen(s) wallpaper?
I've been messing about and all the images get resized horribly. I think it has to allow for the scrolling between screens in port and landscape modes, looking at the the dialogue that comes up when you select an image...
On a image of 720x1280 px
It would be 72 dpi
Bit depth 24
Hope this helps
I cant get that to work. I uploaded 720x1280 to the phone and tried to set it as a wallpaper from the gallery. It them forces to drag a mask to select part of that image (screenshot attached). I can't select the whole image (as the mask stays the same shape and can only be scaled). What am I doing wrong?

You can also use something like
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.tamanegi.wallpaper.multipicture
Which will take multiple sized images and make them fit nicely. The interface is a bit wierd, but it is free and works well once you figure it out.
Three different sized images using the app...

Landscape of one of the same images:
I'm new to Android and I had the same difficulty.
One way to get around the resizing issue is to find an excessively large image and then set it as wallpaper. That will take you to a screen with a selection box that allows you to choose which part of the image to use. This way will not resize the image and takes very little effort, although it works best with very minimal, textured looking backgrounds where you don't need to frame anything in particular.
If you want to crop or scale the image yourself, I believe that the proper wallpaper dimensions for an N7's 800 x 1280 screen would be 1200 x 1280. That's because android wants an additional 50% of horizontal space for scrolling, or so I've read.
I didn't try it because I was experimenting with several different wallpapers and the selection box was a faster way to cycle between them than cropping them all in advance. When I settled on one that I liked I didn't care about trimming the file.
I am not new to Android and I STILL can't figure out the stupid wallpaper forcing me to resize and crop, even when it's the perfect ratio & size! Why can't it just bloody well fit? Very frustrating

It's any and all pictures TBH! I just can't get to grips with how Android wallpapering is supposed to work. I have one image that's 1280x800 that I want to use as a static image across all tiles - it's wants me to re-crop it with that awful crop tool. When I want to put a much bigger image across all tiles and have it scroll, it just doesn't do what I feel should be instinctive and doesn't offer the kind of options that i'd expect.

Firstly, you would need to rotate a 1280x800 image for it to be tall enough for portrait mode. And even if there is a tool to do that in the selection screen, 800 pixels isn't going to be wide enough. You're trying to use an undersized image and it's forcing you to enlarge it.
It's undersized because of horizontal scrolling, which means you'll need an image wider than the resolution of the screen. I read 50% wider, which is why I've told you 1200x1280. And I really hope that's right, because this is the third time I've said it now and I never tested it.
I've attached a 1200x1280 image for you to test. It's the wallpaper I was using, cropped.

I too, hate that problem. It seems so simple to just put a background image in but they need it to be able to do landscape too and blah blah blah. I had to use a 1920x1200 image for my wallpaper. I use apex launcher and have my Wallpaper Mode set to 'Single Screen'. On my phone I used an app called QuickPic to make the wallpaper scale but it didn't work the way i wanted on my N7. Hope that helps

Scaling the hdmi mirroring?

I dont have the phone, but if i did, i would want to use it with a lapdock. Obviously, there is no webtop, just hdmi mirroring.
Someone had posted a picture showing that it basically uses the same resolution as the phone, just stretched out.
So my question is, do you think there will be the ability to scale that up to the full resolution?

Good question!!! well i dont knw about a lapdock but when i mirrored it to my TV i think it kept phones native resolution.... it didnt bump it to 1080p and since hdmi mirroring should be same through out... i think it will just keep 720p resolution.
since the resolution of lapdock is 1366x768 pix i think you should be fine with 720p resolution!!!
When I hook mine to my HDTV it does 720p 16:9 flawlessly. When I hook it to my LED monitor 16:9 1600x900 display it defaults to an anoying 1024x768 and it won't let me scale it vertically just horizontally so I get a distorted streched image with lame black bars on top. Does anyone know why or how I can fix this?

In the Display setting for the Atrix HD is an option called Overscan. It bassically allows for scaling the HDMI display when connected via the micro-HDMI port.

How will mirroring look with the 18:9 aspect ratio of the G6 and S8?

I would like to buy either the upcoming LG G6 or Samsung S8, but I'm afraid of how Chromecast mirroring will work with these new phones. Both phones have an ultra wide aspect ratio of roughly 18:9 in landscape mode, which would result in black bars on the top and bottom if mirrored directly to a standard 16:9 TV. What I'm *hoping" to learn is if the Chromecast app is smart enough to lop off the portion of the phone display that contains the nav buttons, which would conveniently leave a roughly 16:9 area to be mirrored.
Anybody know how this is going to work, and whether there are any workarounds to get mirrored images to fill the entire display area of a 16:9 TV?
"SecondScreen" - App for better mirroring of rooted devices
If you have a 16:9 TV and want to mirror the display of Android device which has a 18:9 ratio, use this app the app "SecondScreen" (https://www.xda-developers.com/cast-device-second-screen/) to set the resolution to 16:9 before casting to the Chromcast.
"Second Screen aims at providing you with a way to properly cast your screen so that it looks is best whenever you are showing it off to your friends and family. It does so by allowing for a user selectable resolution and even DPI in order to take full advantage of your TV."
UI Tuner
Pretty sure the manufacturers of those 18:9 2:1 PoSes will have this well sorted out, or at least they should.
It's already crappy enough to browse internet sh1te in 16:9 landscape with all of those squatter bars you can usually find in lots websh1tes (including THIS ONE, ffs).

Alternatively, you can select a more standardized 16:9 resolution via UI Tuner and then cast the screen.

How to use super slow-mo/slow-mo

I can't seem to get the slow mo to work as i want it to. I read that it should automatically detect movement how, but when i try record something it slow mo's the bit just before the motion, is there something im suppose to be doing that i am not? I point the camera at the object and click record sometime before i think the motion is about to happen. Am i suppose to do something else? it seems like it always slow mo's the bit right after 1 second.
Does it have this UI on your slo mo mode?

I also have a query on how to use the Slo-Mo, before the latest update .. I could start the slow-mo when I wanted by pressing the shutter .... in this new one, you have the activation window
Yesterday, I was trying to take a slow-mo pic of a helicopter (flying), I framed up the picture, pressed the shutter button, expecting it to start recording slow-mo when it sensed the movement, but it didn't start?
I tried pressing the shutter to start it manually, but that did not work either ...... I then pointed it at my daughter to make sure it was working, and when she moved (quite a bit), it then started recording ... is this new activation window, not very sensitive, and can you still override it?
as the picture orangecroc posted above you should have an auto to the left. press it and snap slow mo when you want.

Superb, thanks for that ... really had not noticed that auto button
Alternatively, I just use 120fps x4 times slow motion. This gives me 1080p resolution and I don't have to worry about timing the button press to be just right. Granted, it isn't as slow as 960fps but more than slow enough for the intended effect and at much better quality recording.
The auto function is implemented only after the 131 firmware. So if you are in an earlier version than this, you ll have to use it manually.

Same Problem
I too had the camera automatically select the slow motion section and choosing wrong. I tried the tips here, but as I shoot martial arts sequences, the timing just does not work. Is there any way to move which part is in slow motion afterwards, by editing. Timing that one slow motion sequence whilst filming longer sequences seems absolutely unrealistic as I currently understand the use of the phone.
On a side note, why didn't they include usage instructions. I have spent an hour trying to google and search on YouTube for videos and articles on how to use the slow motion function, which would seem unnecessary when one has purchased the phone.

Well, if you pick the 120fps 1080p 4x or 8x 720 then after recording you can play the video and when you touch the video again then you will see this bar at the bottom where you can edit the slomotion

Is there a maximum recording time for this? I like the look of the phone and the static camera but I like to take long slow-mo videos - on the iphone 6 you can do 120/240fps seemingly forever, or at least until you run out of memory.
I know the (arguably nominal) 960fps mode on this phone allows for only very short videos, but i'm not after hi-definition ultra slow footage, just 'very' (4x/8x) slow motion for several minutes at a time (like 5 mins of shooting to get 20/40mins slowed video)
