[Q] No Longer ABle To Achieve Root - Nook HD, HD+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I applied the White-on-White repair from leapinlar's most recent post (I was running 2.06 rooted) by flashing with my CWM SD card. Upon reboot, I no longer have root and not only that but I am unable to achieve root using the Universal Root zip. None of my root-requiring apps will run (ES File Explorer, Titanium Backup, etc..)
What happened?

This is posted in the wrong forum. This is for development only. You can respond to other threads here but you should not be starting new threads here unless you have development to contribute.
It still boots ok after the white on white? (Which device?) Did you update superuser with play store? If so, uninstall it and try universal root again.
I have a new version of Universal root about ready to go. If you can't get it going, you might try that after I post it.

[Q] Sudden lost of root access Milestone

Hey guys,
I've been messing around with my phone trying out nadlabak's CM6 for milestone. After removing it (because of lack of apps2ext) i flashed my nandroid recovery back (GOT android 2.1 with root) but somehow I seem to have lost my root access.
The superuser.apk is still present, and opens listing apps granted access, but all my other apps that require root (setcpu, titanium backup, autostarts etc) does not have root access.
I currently use Androliani's recovery but running the root script causes my phone to hang.
Any idea why / solutions?
You need to root again your milestone by using z4root. After that all your required root apps can be used. I'm sure you know how to install this app, right?
Just place the app at the root of your sdcard,ON the phone and use app installer,or open astro file, etc to install the app.

[Q] Help, can't install titanium backup after ics update.

I used to be on stock gb rom and rooted, then i flashed to stock ics rom through pc odin. However after being on ics rom i can't install titanium backup, it says device memory low or full, but i still have about 1gb of free space. All other apps would install without a hitch except titanium backup. Can someone please help?
First you should post exactly what rom you flashed and if you followed instructions if you rooted etc etc etc.
then maybe people can help you better.
- compumasterpr already mentioned it and you’re probably aware of it, anyway, TB of course needs root permissions
- TB stores the backups in /sdcard/TitaniumBackup, so you can copy this directory manually for safety’s sake
- delete /sdcard/data/com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup if it exists
- clear data of TB in settings-> applications
- if that still doesn’t help, have a look here:

http://www.titaniumtrack.com/kb/titanium-backup-kb
When i flashed my Note from gb to ics i also lost root. So i think you should re root it
i already re rooted thru cmw.
update: i read somewhere here that i need to delete a file associated with TB, what i did was installed es file explorer to go thru the system files and deleted the so called file in sys/apps. that seem to did the trick as i can install TB.

[Q] root unsuccessful :(

Hi,
the problem is next:
I root my phone (xperia x8) with super one click (successful), i follow the instructions
then i installed root explorer. after that I copy the cwm files and with root explorer i tried to remove it to system/bin
the problem starts here. there wasn't enough space, so I remove 3 files of 4.
after that i uninstall some unimportant apps to get some space.
when I tried to enter root explorer the message appear:
"restart app"
"Root explorer has not yet managed to obtain root accsess because of issuses with superuser, this often happensthe first time the app is run but usually fine from the on Click ok and restart the app to try again make sure you respoding superuser promt"
after that i tried everything:
- reinstall root explorer, restart phone, allow/decline in superuser... no result
- install es file es file explorer, and follow the instructions but no results, can see the system/bin folder but can't manage(copy/paste, cut/paste)
the message when i click root explorer in es file explorer said that the phone is not support.
in meanwhile I noticed that i cannot connect to my wireless network....
after that i tried:
- settings reset, nothing
- factory defaults.
after factory default my phone don't recognize my Sim card, and the wireless still not work.
I don't know what to do.
Can someone please help!
Please
did superuser ask you about permision? if not then you need to have superuser to use that alsbo you can install the cwm via rommanager which can be downloaded for free from google play
Thanks for the answer.
The superuser asked me about permission. and I click allow.
what is the procedure with rommanager?
Thanks in advance
after you get it from market you just need to open it and click flash cwm recover after that it will tell you that is completed succesful or not
but...
there is a little problem,
i can't connect to wireless network, and my sim card don't work, so I can't download it from market...
any suggestions?
Thanks in advance

Root your x8 using flahtool then use x8 toolbox to install recovery or cwm (is better) then try to get to cwm and make backup. Chceck mamufacture date and if you can unlock your bootloader then download and install custom kernel and rom

[Q] Problems with CM 10.1 superuser

I have a plain vanilla CM10.1 on my HD+. The included CM File Manager runs fine with root privilege. I've also installed a newer version of Jackpal's Term (terminal emulator) which runs fine as well with root.
However, the current version of ES File Manager will not run with root privilege. When I try to activate this, I just get the message "Sorry, test failed." Interestingly, the app is visible in Settings>Superuser as "allowed", but it still fails to acquire root. (I already uninstalled and reinstalled ES File Manager a couple of times with no success.)
Additionally, another app I tried to install (SambaDroid) gets denied root by the CM Superuser app without me even being able to say yes or no.
So something is not working as it should be...?
Have you tried installing supersu from the market?

No. I'm not sure whether installing multiple superuser apps is a good idea... I may end up with a system where the two apps slug it out and
I am left without root access. (OK, I do have backups so that wouldn't be a catastrophe.)
Having said that, I would have tried installing another SU if I could get rid of the CM SU in the first place, but these days this thing is baked into the Settings app and I've found no information as to whether (and if so, how) this can be disabled.
Hints anyone?
Seems I am the only one with that specific problem.
The solution (well, not really but probably better than mucking with the CM superuser app): I've removed ES File Manager and installed X-plore File Manager instead. The interface of the latter is not that great but it seems to do most (or all?) of what ES can do (plus it does open password-protected RAR files, a big plus for me). And of course it supports root...
Still I do not understand why ES would not work with the CM superuser but there you go.
