[Q] Min current spec for charger ?

Hello all,
I've purchased a car power adapter spec'ed at 500mA. To my disappointment, the Galaxy does not appear to be charging when connected to that one.
The factory-supplied outlet adapter is spec'ed at 700mA.
So, what's the min spec for a charger that would work for the Galaxy ? Any Nokia car chargers that are known to be working (if so, which models)
TIA for the help..
http://tinyurl.com/29zpnsl 5th link and they recommend Dash Genie charger. Why would you like a nokia one ?
Thanks.
Why would I "like" a Nokia charger? Price. And because I'm fed up with buying car chargers and holders each and every time I change my phone...
I got a Samsung branded one (CAD300UBE), will cost you around $10~15. I always try to buy original accessories, because I don’t want to risk damaging the phone or the battery by using a cheap crappy charger off eBay. If you are buying a $700 phone then surely you can afford $15 on a decent charger.
EDIT : If you are in US, Amazon is selling Samsung CAD300UB for $6.69! RRP is $19.

charger

I just recently bought the dell streak 7 for 250 of Craigslist and the owner gave me the wrong charger and she won't contact me.back I was wandering if someone would be kinds enough to many give me one of there extra ones if the have one I don't have a debit card or credit card to pay for shipping but please I just got this for my 16 birthday.and can't play with it :/
Any 1A or greater charger is all you need, if you have a smartphone charger it will work.
It takes a 30 pin connected kinda like iPod
If you need a cable also, they're like $5 on ebay

Ebay... Amazon... you can easily find a replacement cable. If you get the USB type cable you can even use the charger that came with your phones (USB types) but it might take for ever to charge since phone chargers output .5A to 1A... You will need a charger that outputs 2.1A for speedier charge.
I just recently purchased an origilal charger for my Streak 7 from Ebay. The name of the company was cellular_emporium and the description was: TMOBILE OEM HOME CHARGER + DATA CABLE DELL STREAK 7 STREAK 5 WoW!
Make sure the one you buy says OEM because those are the ones with higher charging capability. All the other chargers I've seen out there that are copies of the original are only 0.5A output but the OEM I have says 1.0A output. That's twice the output. The charger came with the 30pin cable that plugs into the Streak 7 and the other end is a USB that plugs into the charger head unit.
I paid $11 for it with free shipping and it got to my house in about 3 days.
Hope that helps. I know I had a hard time deciding which one since they all say they are compatible.
Charger
Make sure that the charger supplies an output of 5volts and 2amps.
The OEM power supply is 2A but the S7 never draws that much, I've measured it. It never draws more than 1.3A. Not sure what the S7 looks at but I'm guessing that it looks at voltage and if it drops, it won't charge. You can use a 1A power supply "sometimes" by booting up the S7 first and than plugging it in as it uses more current at boot up time.
IIRC with the S7 OFF, it charges at around 960mA max and that drops off as it reaches a full charge.
It was a long time before I noticed that no matter what your using the S7 stops charging during a good part of the boot up time.

charger problems

so i went onto ebay and bought a official OEM droid 4 usb cable and AC adapter and for some reason the AC adapters dont work but the usb cord is just fine
the AC adapter i got was a SPN5504 which has a input of 100-240V 50/60hz and 0.2A and output of 5.1V at 850mA
is this not the charger that came with the droid 4? it will not charge at all in the wall but when i plug the usb cord into a samsung wall adapter it works fine
Pretty much any USB charger should work. Sounds to me like you got a dud...
Agreed, dud. Some are better than others, I get all mine off of ebay, so I have a bumch around the house. The cheaper the more likely its crap, but at .99 I can't argue. So I order 4-5 and I might get a bad one.

thanks the company i ordered from on ebay sent me 2 more and they both work

Additional 2amp Wall chargers

I was able to pick up car chargers already, but am having a hard time finding a good deal on extra 2amp wall chargers. Samsung had one on their accessory page for a while, but never got any stock. It disappeared in the last few days.
Might be cheaper to buy an iPad compatible brick and use it with a microusb cable. Works well and charges fast, and reusable for future devices.
radio shack has a 4port 2a that will give max draw to one port. i have already tested it with a multimeter. they are like 22$
Haven't gotten a chance to test these yet: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0073FCPSK/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00
I definitely noticed my old htc wall charger is slower to charge the note2 than my nexus 7 wall charger.
Can you guys recommend best car/wall chargers as far as amps(Electrical jargon I'm not too familiar with)?
I was wondering if higher amp is better?
I realize the device will cut off current too high, but wondering what the max it can draw is? perhaps over 2amp?
Will it mess up my wifes Note 1 if she uses my charger? Will it charge hers faster?
no they will limit the charge so you dont have to worry about that. most devices can accept up to 2A at 5V anyways. That is the limit for the spec. The absolute is 2.4 A i think.

I got two of these when they were only $19.99 each.
if you have a radio shack close why waste the time on shipping
You people seriously pay $20++ for wall chargers? LOL!
I got 5 of the Xentris 2A wall chargers, for $25 including shipping!
Xentris 2A Wall Charger
The connected micro usb cable is 2A, and the extra USB port is 1A. Both charge the Note 2 perfectly and the prongs flip up.

The joke may be on you if your chargers are cheaply made. It all comes down to the person if they want to stay safe or not. You can risk your battery's life dying earlier than normal, or just plain ol damaging your phone. If you've had luck with those, than more power to you.
If anyone was curious, there was substantial testing done to a few chargers that may give you insight on what to put your money on.

I have seen that one brand of 2A chargers. Do you think it charges as fast as your OEM charger? How long have you had them now?
Also how did you get them for $5 each?

2A Charger Please

I have read countless threads and looked at many chargers and I just can't seem to find a 2a car and a 2a home charger. I just ordered this charger and this cable and it just doesn't work above 700ma. When I use the stock cable I get to 1300mah for a sec and then about 900 steady. This is on both ports. Someone please help me before I lose it! The only one that works at 1500mah is the cable and charger that came with my phone.
Charger
Cable
Thanks in advance.
Well, I can say from repeated certainty that this 6' cable charges at the same rate as the stock cable but is actually nice.

Also, my Qmadix car charger with dual 2.1A ports does very near stock AC levels when charging 1 device. My results are in the mega 2A car charger thread, but that's a spendy charger.

As far as home chargers, HP Touchpad charger is the winner easily. IME. Expensive but worth it.

A quick search on the lowest priced "oem note 2 charger" on ebay got me these, both 2A:
Home
Car
I saw a cable at Best Buy which is pretty nice, it has El Wire that flashes quickly(battery at 0-65%), slow (battery at 66-99%) and turns off when the battery is full. Would that cable be okay to use to charge my phone?

go on the google play store and buy the nexus 7 2A charger. im using that one for my note 2 and its working flawlessly.
I have a cheap gas station 2 port usb car charger rated at 2amp for one port and 1amp for the other. Works great and I think it cost maybe 10 bucks. My phone charges at well over 1300mah in the car using a cheap usb cable I got at walgreens or some ****

I just went to Walgreens also. They have 2 usb port car chargers that charge one port at 2.1amp and the other at 1amp. It was only 10$. They also have a 2.1 amp wall charger as well.

I'm also looking for 2A replacement... How's the charging time compare to the stock Note 2 charger?
how do you measure the output while the device is charging? Is there an app to test how much juice is coming in real time?
I use a 2A HP Touchpad charger in my living room and a T-Mobile branded 3A dual USB charger in my bedroom (see links below). The T-Mobile charger charges my Note2 from 9% to 100% in less than 2 hours when I only use 1 of the USB ports. I'm not sure what the rate is when both ports are used. I've had this for a couple years and use it to charge (individually and simultaneously) my phones and tablets without any problem.

I'm using "Battery Monitor Pro" not sure how accurate it is but most people I ran across seems to use that app.

2 Amps. Extra USB port. Fixed wire (so you don't lose it). Bought it in October and it works awesome.
$12.89. It's the best option out there, IMO (aside from the stock one).

I have that one, super slim profile so it looks like its part of your car instead of something plugged into your cigarette lighter. Works like a charm.
