Hi
i was wondering since tmobile mda have a camera and a wi fi connection
can i do live video streaming over the internet.
please fellows i think if we can make this work it will be grt
do help me on this topic and need more and more feedback to inspire the gr8 people do something about it
Thanks
This worked for me. It is also stated on there web site that our device is supported. Great for filming weddings or birthday parties allowing family and friends around the world to watch live.
http://www.comvu.com
Also just for kicks. Try this if you wanna watch tv from anywhere. 8)
http://www.orb.com
ps. the current version of ORB as of today has a nasty bug that constantly reads you hard drive and causes video to chop. get the 1.01.0639 version dated Feb 23. It works better. Or download a newer version it it exist. On your device when loged into your ORB page I suggest going to "Set Speed" link at bottom and setting Device Web Speed to 60k and checking the Remember speed box. This will prevent rebuffering issues.(at least on my US T-Mobile network)
thanks for your reply i have used the comvu and orb but i was wondering if there is something else that can be used to do the live streaming see i dont want to be dependent on a a service provider i was like what if i host my own live video streaming server and the if there is a software that i can use to stream the video over the internet
but i guess this is still too far away
ya. dont know anything that does that. I know that Microsoft Portrait will stream. But to only one user. You cant do multicast without a server.
hey where can i find this microsoft potrait and yeah i can make my self a server so that i can multicast to few people around my family all over the globe that will be cool
http://research.microsoft.com/mcom/portrait/
Windows Media Encoder 9
WME9 is free and allows encoding / streaming. Maybe you can broadcast using one of those other tools to a server running WME9 and use it for other clients. I'm not familiar with Microsoft Portrait, so I'm not sure if that's capable.

I really hate to not contribute in a thread, but could you please start using punctuation in your posts? It's really difficult to read what you're saying with any punctuation. And no, paragraphing is not considered punctuation.
Hi all,
Am tearing my hair out trying to figure this one out! I've got:
Windows Media
Coreplayer
GSPlayer
(Flash, not sure if this is needed)
All installed, as I'd like to listen to a radio station stream that I work on/manage the internet stream/technical setup for.
However it just won't connect at all! I have managed to play another shoutcast stream, but still never managed to get this one working.
Can anyone advise on why this could be? The stream in question is:
http://mobile:[email protected]:8000/hartlepool-mp3
Which works fine on all other players on the PC, etc, but cannot seem to figure why its not working on my Kaiser.
Thoughts/things to try, etc please!!
Can't see the link in full to analyse, or click it to open it.
Please repost it, perhaps not as a link but just as text and I'll take a look in the morning.
Cheers,
Joe
Oh strange when I pasted the link it was just a link, must have been the forum software that auto-linked it. Here it is, just cut the spaces out
http :// mobile:user @ arctic.thebmwz3.co.uk:8000/hartlepool-mp3
I've been trying a few other things here, and still cannot seem to figure out what is wrong with the stream/player on my Kaiser.
I've tried changing the stream from mp3 to ogg, same problem, have also set it not to require the username/password authentication, same problem.
Not sure what to try, anyone??
I stream a few stations, here's what I did;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=350675
Good Luck.
Thanks for the tips, unfortunately since this is a small UK regional/community station that I operate, it isn't in any public listings, so cannot stream via pages or other links.
The bit i'm struggling with is why the kaiser won't stream the link, as its a fairly standard CBR mp3 streamed from icecast2 at 64kbps/22kHz and I cannot stream either over 3G or wlan when I'm at home, so that negates and proxy or anything like that with my cell provider, so it looks like I'm struggling with some form of incompatibility with my audio applications and the stream that I'm running.
Help! Don't suppose any kind souls out there can try my stream I posted and see if they can play it on their kaiser?
Thanks everyone for your input, its been driving me mad this!!

I tried the stream as posted, with .mp3 rather than -mp3, and without the mobile:[email protected] both as . and -
It couldn't even find the stream! Kept saying the file (etc, not typing the whole message) could not be found. Tried it on a couple of other streams for local radio I know of in South Wales, and it was fine. Couldn't seem to handle Radio 1 tho, but no loss there...
I have no clue about streams, so can't help with what might be wrong, but least this confirms that a Kaiser and WMP will run streaming internet radio. Maybe there is something on the config that a PPC couldn't handle? Does this stream work for you:
http://gmga.planetwideradio.com/RealWales
Thanks Steve, thats what I was wondering. Yes your link works fine which confirms that the streaming to my WM kaiser is fine, its obviously how I'm handling my own stream.
Interesting that you've tried all the combinations that I did, and with no luck, and yes very strange it doesn't find the feed at all and errors with unknown url, etc, I'm wondering if its somehow because the stream runs on port 8000 instead of 80?
However, in pocket IE, you can get to http://arctic.thebmwz3.co.uk:8000/ which is the admin for my icecast2 server, so PIE does seem to accept the alternative port too.
I'm very confused! I'm going to post to the icecast2 forum to see if there are any answers, but anyone else can give me any pointers too??
Cheers!
Right,
Chatting to the Icecast streaming developers, they suspected the authentication being the problem.
So I disabled authentication and sure enough the stream connected immediately, so I suspect there is a bug in the internet/backend on the WM that doesn't interpret multiple colons correctly, as obviously I had two in the URL, one for the TCP port number to use, and one to separate the username/password.
So think thats the problem.
I almost completed my post...and then i pressed my backspace key...so i can start over again
Hello,
I was wondering if there are people who are interested in watching live tv on there windows mobile phone from your pc at home...(?)
Last week i was searching for tools/progs like snapstream(stream live tv/record/schedule etc...) but it wasn't working good enough for me...
I just wanted a simple program to scan for tv channels...name them...and watch them on my kaiser...
So after a few hours programming... it worked
A moment ago i was driving my car and watching tv(350kb(its)s) on my kaiser over hsdpa / umts using my tv card in my pc at home...
The only thing i need to do is make a simple GUI that you can access on your kaiser using pocket ie/opera etc... In this webpage there will be very big buttons (for ex. CNN) so when you press this verry big button (you can't miss ) it will start CNN in TCMPM or windows media player...
(These buttons will be created dynamicly using a xml with your tv channels/freq/descriptions) so you can customize it or auto scan for channels...
Also you will be able to customize output quality...
Are there people who are interested in this? If so i'll will post some beta versions here
Let me know!
God bless!

Ok well...
I made an installer you can download it at: ShareTV
It is an early version of it, but for me it works great!
Before you install ShareTV.msi
- install Microsoft .NET framework v3.5
- install windows media encoder v9
ShareTV will automaticly startup a little http/wwwebserver on port 80... but if you need to change this port number (firewall/dmz or what else) it's possible! Just take a look at ShareTV.exe.config!
In wwwroot folder you will find index.htm and template.htm. template.htm is needed to export your channels...
So first Autoscan channels in ShareTV after this you can (if you like) customize this index.htm the way you want!
Enoy! And if you have quetions or suggestion don't hesitate and please let me know!
Her are some screenshots...
Interested!

WiFi as well as Hspda?
stream media from pc to phone
i use a nice piece of freeware called orb.. streams all your media from your pc across your network or across internet.. web interface is pretty cool can be set for different devices and depending on the pc you can stream to multi devices at once (xbox, ps3, wii, pc, phone etc). and if you have a tv card it will stream that as well as any webcams etc u have attached. also allows download access to shared folders so you can have all your data on the go...
anyway... it's free so maybe it'll work for ya.

Thnx for your tip! But i didn't really like orb... its a nice app but not for me
I'd be very interested in such a thing as i've been trying to find a way to stream ESPN and several other channels with no luck. Where would the streaming source come from however?

The source come's from your pc at 'home'...
The only thing is that this pc must have a tv capture card
Orb works OK if you have the TV tunercard and dont wanna spend any money, but if your willing to spend a little cash go for a cheap slingbox off ebay and you will have your entire cable line-up at your disposal.
I've found a app called Mytinytv where you can stream tv but the only problem is (for me) he find only one channel so if you can make something that works with my hercules smarttv i would love it
Very interested. That would be sweet. Trying out orb now it is ok. I would love to try your app out.
Thanks!
if this is somehow possible with dvb-s cards, i'm very interested

Hi!
Wel'll first i have to buy a dvb-s card... because i don't have one..
But when i have it will also support dvb-s cards yes
ah, okay.
i thought most of nowadays tv-cards run by bda-drivers and so they're all compatible to every program that supports bda.
hm
but
hm
no, i won't donate you a dvbs card! i can wait!
very nice app but my video card is not supported can you fix this. It would be nice
It does seem that Orb has already crossed this birdge... I like the interface and functionality of it. It is worth a look!
im looking for a good tv application for our phones..
anyone got any good suggestions?
TVU-Player for Mobile is okay, if you have HSDPA, otherwise it won't even load. Kinoma Freeplay isn't really tv, but nonetheless it is still entertaining. MobiTV is popular, but never really used it past its free 3 day trial. Hope that helps,
Dave
yeah.. i tried mobi tv... its good any all but too expensive.. there was a unlimited mobitv floating around here somewhere.. but didnt work.. or maybe i just didnt know how to use it..
but other than that.. ill give TVU-Player a shot.. thanks!
I use SPBOnline... Also I had DiamondTV.. The SPB is a better TV program.
DiamondTV is ok, there are lots of XXX in there, hehe...
slingbox mobile is the best way to go expect you need to already have slingbox, in total it would run u like 130 for mobile and slingbox, there are no monthly fees and it streams from ur tv source over the internet i really like using it, if you have parents you could just hook it up at their house and not have to pay for cable cause you can just watch it on ur phone or laptop/computer
Or you could use a website instead of a program. Something like
http://www.todaypda.com/stream/

This is excellent... Thanks for sharing the info. Although not all links do work, but the ones that do stream are perfect. I wish There is an NBA channel that streams live for free though.
Excellent site, Themuzz, thanks!
I'm having much better luck opening the links with Coreplayer than WMP, but I'm not surprised. Hmm... PIE does better at saving my settings than Opera, though I'm not using the latest version(s) floating around here. I'll try them when I have more time.
wow thanks for the share themuzz!!..
i actually tried diamond... over half of the channels dont work.
i would love to try the slingbox... but dont even own a real one so i guess that ones out..
handitv is okay..
im gonna try spbonline next...
thanks for the replys tho guys!
Thank You!

I've always wondered if there was a way to get FREE TV on my Tilt. This is the answer. With all those available channels listed for the US and the search feature, I'm sure I'll find something I'll like to watch. THANK YOU!
you're welcome, I actually set up the website myself. The only problem with the streams is that I can't check mms streams to see if they are working... if the stream streams through http I can check it, but I haven't found something where I can check that much mms streams...
If you have other feedback, it's welcome to.

TCPMP 0.72 RC1 Recomp 03 w/ the WMV and FLV plugins will enable you to stream pretty much any media you could want to on your phone.

Hey man, this page is interesting.
thanks!
bumping the message to the top.
Orb.com
You may wish to try orb.com. You need a computer at home with a TV Card, but you can truly get streaming TV with this combination. Throw in a copy of Kinoma Play and you now have a direct connection to your orb server without using a web browser on your phone(not sure if you can change channels with Kinoma Play, as I currently do not have orb controlling my TV card, using GBPVR for my PVR functions, with the files created shared through orb.)

nice site. but i have not found a stream that works yet.
Perhaps I should leave this topic alone, but I found a nice site like http://www.todaypda.com/, namely a mobile website with also streams (which all work), translating, adult content, etc.
http://www.molymobile.com/
What do you think about it?
Hey guys, just a quick question, does anyone know of any android apps that are able to play feeds from ScanAmerica?
Ive been searching everywhere to no avail. Ive tried going on the mobile website for ScanAmerica, but when i get to the point where its loading the feed, it opens the video player and says the format isnt supported.
I checked the url and it links to a .mp3 file, so i dont understand why it wouldnt play.
thanks in advance.
no one knows of any app that can do that? or any alternative way to listen to radioreference feeds on my phone?
Hey buddy, thanks for pointing this site out. I've always been in to scanners but never thought to check the web for such a thing!
But, to answer your original Q, I am able to stream Ottawa Fire from the site by selecting Winamp from the list, and it opens in Droid Live Lite. Hope this helps ya!
bro your a life saver, i installed droidlive and it was able to open and play the feed.
thanks a lot!
