Hi,
I bought a Galaxy S3 Mini in http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Unloc...e=UTF8&qid=1359994419&sr=8-2&keywords=s3+mini and the specs said that have NFC,
I was wondering, how do i enable this NFC and transfer some files?
Thanks
you may have been misled like a lot of other users who thought they have NFC. Have a look in the ABOUT phone in settings, if it says I8190N then you have it. First phones out don`t seem to have NFC built in. It`s false advertising really. If haven`t got it return it and get NFC version if you really need it. GT-I8190N has just been released end of January. Have look here: http://www.phonearena.com/news/Samsu...anuary_id38935
thanks for your reply, i've read that the antenna may comes with the battery (NFC battery) but i'm not sure if it really works
Yes I read that also. Do u have any options about NFC in settings in your phone. If your phone mentioned says GT-i8190N then your OK. Please let me know thanks.

No, I don't have any NFC options (looking in all configurations menu)
No one tried using a i8190N battery on a i8190?

Can anyone suggest me how to activate NFC in my note or use it ??
Note does not have nfc xD

Did you even read the specs of the Note before buying it ?
The Note(GT-N7000) doesn't support NFC
it's better you sell your Note and get the Note 2 (when Sammy will release it), perhaps that comes already with NFC that you truly desire for.

LOL
I think it can only be activated with the samsung battery that was seen on many photos at the galaxy note release, because you would need the antenna inside it to use nfc. But i have not seen samsung selling any of these batteries yet.

Most versions of the GT-N7000 do NOT have NFC. It is extremely RARE to find.

Samsung has put the design of the NFC in the N7000.. Not sure what their plan is when it comes to the rollout to the public.. I was able to see it on the schematics of the N7000..
You can look it up on Dr. Ketan's toolbox.. Galaxy note Service manual..
Hey guys I'm from the galaxy S3 forums, my sister has a galaxy ace and the phone is always showing that it's charging, even when it's unplugged.
The battery icon in the status bar is showing the charging indicator, throws lock screen show it's charging and (the weird one) when the phone is switched off it shows the charging icon.
I did think it could be a problem with battery stats, but (as far as I know) the charging indicator when the phone is switched off its independent from battery stats (based on the hardware.)
So I turn to your community I'm thinking a reflash is needed, is this the same process as my S3 add PDA in Odin and flash?
Any help will be appreciated.

Hello Delsus, there is already answered thread about "always charging bug" in this forum. You should read this first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1944585
And I believe It's not a software problem.

I don't think so, even if you have the software for it, you will still need the nfc hardware to make it work.

OK thanks for the info guys

If you look inside the service manual, you'll see that NFC option is connected to SIM card reader.
Maybe battery can provide NFC antenna but only antenna. NFC chip needs at least 10 elecrical connections battery have only 3 or 4.

This ofcourse is not really a problem.
Just as there are kits outhere to make a dual-sim option, there is no reason why you couldn't put your simcard inside a simcard reader on the battery and then a cable that goes from the battery into the original simcard reader.
Anyway overhere is Europe NFC is hardly used, and by the time it gets implemented we might be using our Galaxy Note 6....
The back cover can provide as the antennae

Thanks for your reply. I have searched online too but I cannot find it either. It is really annoying because I have found the complete network antenna unit but not the simple GPS antenna.
Hello XDA!
Okay so I have the NFC model of the S3 Mini (i8190N) and in need of a battery. The reason being because the phone just keeps randomly rebooting like all the time now (say if I am at 90%, it will randomly reboot and go down to below 5% ). It never used to do this and I have had the phone for not even 12 months (Around 8/9 months now I've had it). I'd like to think its the battery that is the problem as I have done a "battery test" like spinning it around and placing it on a flat surface and it drops. My battery has 4 pins (not like 3 pins from the original i8190 model).
Sorry for if some of what I have said doesn't really makes sense (haha ) but If anyone has any help they can offer me, it'd be greatly appreciated!
P.S: I was looking at the original NFC battery on Amazon which is about £10 (as that was the only one I could find with 4 pins lol) and was wondering if that'd help anything?
Sent from my GT-I8190N using XDA Free mobile app
I also bought the 3-pin instead of the 4-pin one for my I8190N, it just losses NFC connectivity. It doesn't bother me since I don't use NFC. If you need the 4-pin one, might need to buy from original Samsung center which will be quite expensive.
Wow so you can use a battery with 3 pins (in a NFC model with 4 pins) and it'd still work?
What about this battery then? Would this be okay to use? Would it stop the reboot issue also? http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00A89528S?pc_redir=1408125233&robot_redir=1
Edit: Ordered the battery earlier so here's hoping that when it arrives, it'll work fine!
And sorry if the first part was a dumb question xD

buy a new battery, this will solve the problem
Se ti sono stato utile clicca sul tasto Thanks rotfl
Yeah dude. Recently i was in same situation. Just go and buy an new battery and use only stock based roms. Higher than 4.1.2 will cause battery defections.
Thanks guys for the replies!
I'm using R Mod v3 at the moment which is obviously based on stock 4.1.2. That will be fine to use right?
