Hi, I wanted to go all the way back to stock GB and update to ICS. I was on CM 9.1 and used mobile odin pro (without adding root) to get back to GB. When it first booted and I updated all the samsung apps and logged in to both gmail and my samsung account, I went to about phone and update... of course it said no update available :/
I downloaded the "Open German" GB from the stock ROMs thread
Android: 2.3.6
Baseband: XXLB1
Build number: GINGERBREAD.XXLB1
I must however add that my phone originally came with a Polish ROM locked to a network. Does anyone know how to update the phone the old fashioned way?
When you connect to kies what does it say? May be something is not matching up.
Thanks for the suggestion, I however get the following error when I plug my phone into my computer with kies open:

You may need to reinstall kies and run as administrator
Yup, now it has detected the phone. I went for Firmware upgrade and initialisation in tools and it says "GT-N7000 does not support initialising"
On kies homescreen it also says that my current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via kies.
Oh, also got this info from kies
CSC: LB1 (KOR)
Does it mean that this firmware is South Korean? :/
That's all fine. Dial *272*IMEI# on the phone and select the csc as Germany. This will reset the phone. So make sure you backup your apps if any. (assuming you are still on GB)
Thanks, that solved the problem. Now I can finally update it

I've messed up my efs folder, and idioticly didn't back up, and now my phone doesn't work with my sim card, so I'm shipping it off to Samsung to get fixed up. But of course, I've rooted, used half a dozen different roms and firmwares, and I'm not really too sure how to cover up all my tracks.
I've unrooted using BackfireNL's method for Eclair, before upgrading to Froyo (just to make sure).
In my 'About Phone', though, three things are concerning me. my Baseband, kernal version and build number. My Baseband version is 'I9000XXJPP' and my build number is 'FROYO.XXJPO'. These don't seem very official looking to me. I've flashed the JPO rom from Samfirmware.
And, more worrying is my kernal version.
'2.6.32.9
root(at)sep-35 #1'
(I couldn't put an at symbol cause the system thought I was trying to post a link)
Surely it's not supposed to say 'root' all up in there, plain as day? Is there an official stock kernal I can flash? I've had a search, but I can't seem to find one.
Those are the correct settings for the JPO ROM.
I have exactly the same and haven't rooted yet:

Cant you just format the internal sd from the recovery blot?

What it says there is fine. Good luck.

Yesterday i started KIES and found out that there was an update available but i did not have enough time to update it so i cancelled the procedure. Now today i started KIES again again and it says that i already have the latest firmware. I am using Froyo XXJPY with Seed Mod Kernel K13C and Lag Fix enabled.
Can anyone guide me in this problem?
Seems that firmware was retired 'cause it has some bugs.
User are getting overexcited and Samsung have pulled 2.3 .

Ok. Thanks a lot for your replies. I was thinking that there might be something wrong with my handset. Does this have to do something with Apple lawsuit.
Also kindly let me know which one was the pulled version so that I can flash it through Odin.

Does this mean that I have a stale gingerbread?

I updated over the weekend to 2.3.3 and after an initial problem with the notification bar FC on start up, (fixed it with a cache wipe and data wipe from the three button boot loader menu) everything seems fine.
Was I just lucky or unlucky to get this update.
I'm on O2 UK but I had flashed 2.2.1 from samfirmware.com with odin.
It was a pre-mature push, and I don't think they will going to launch it before lauch of SGS 2, let's wait when they roll it again :-(
The answer is provide that Google had some issues with the update and got it pulled.

hi, i'm completely new to the android experience, so I know next to nothing about rooting. I read the post on how to root my samsung galaxy sII and decided to root it. I did the odin with
XWKDD_insecure.tar, and it was fine. Following that, I went on to use superoneclick. However, everytime i tried to root using superoneclick , the program becomes not responding on my
computer, so I gave up. After that, I turned on my phone and the wifi and 4g no longer works. So i follow an post trying to restore the factory firmware, the only catch is, my phone is
an US Sprint phone, and the firmware available in the post was the UK version. I used odin to run the UK version of samsung simfree firmware, but it failed. Following that, I went to
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102881 to download the android 2.3.3 for north america. I ran it using odin and it failed as well. so now my phone will turn
on but its stuck on the page that says samsung galaxy s2 with a warning sign on it. I can't turn it off with the power button. I have to manually remove the batter. Someone please help
me, I just got this phone last week.
Now its stuck on this :

N7000DDLP8-------4.0.3-----------2012 May-----------N7000ODDLP5-------------India----- -------------------------------Download Install N Root
and wat does this mean - check for CSC (*#272*IMEI#) if not INU, set it.(this is for indian user, if your ROM is different, it shud be accordingly)
du i have to du anything here??
is it ok to go ahead...coz iam unable to update via kies and ota?
Its perfectly fine for you to install this via PC Odin.
Do it. However ur gonna realise its not such a major improvement to GB. Rather go with CM9 ics rom
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA
here it is,
1) Open your dial screen and type *#06# this will reveal your IMEI number. Note it down somewhere
2) Now in your dial screen type *#272*IMEI# (where IMEI will be the no. you got in 1st step)
Since your CSC code is set to KOR, scroll down and select INU and click on install. After installation, restart your phone, recheck step2 to confirm if CSC is set to INU, and proceed ahead with PC ODIN.

Note: the original baseband was sm950usqs2bqk2
Did you update via OTA? I mean, that firmware is the latest available for your device?, if that is the case, you can roll back to a previous oreo, take a look at sammobile

Yes via OTA applied from the SD card.
I tried to install the 7.1.1 againg using Odin but always says setup connection
You will not be able to roll back to nougat, you can only install firmwares with equal or higher bootloader versions, the number of the version is the ninth character in the firmware label
