Hi, I can't update my firmware, the phone says it's a problem with the network...
Code:
Software update
Failed to update firmware due to network or server problem. Try software update via Settings -> Software update -> Update, or try using PC Kies later
I was just messing around with kies software, firmware upgrade, firmware recovery, etc.
I didn't do anything yet, didn't flashed any rom or root, etc...
Yesterday, this option work, today won't. Any ideia why?
I'm already blacklisted!? for doing nothing?
How can I check my "binary counter"?

Why post this in dev section? :what:

If it was possible I had deleted the topic and posted in the correct section.

You are not new here, as I see. You have 186 thanks on your count. So act and behave appropriate.
You can't be blacklisted. Reason why you can't update with kies - I do not know. Reading what you said, probably you have network issues on your PC.
How to check binary counter? Well you could find out by searching, instead of posting in wrong section! Go to download mode, it will be written there.

If it is writen Custom binary counter: NO - then you have 0 binary counter. Any other number is telling that you increased it.
And you always can flash stock firmware by downloading it from www.sammobile.com and flashing it with Odin.
I just "love" arogant people!!! And making them shame for acting like that.
Thread reported, and admins will transfer it to General section or in Q&A soon.
.
Thanks for the answer about the binary counter.
I have sure isn't a network problem.
You guys have serious problems.
Anyway, as I said two times, I MADE A MISTAKE, ok, what you want for me? you are perfect?
Dudes, relax, why I will create two threads if one mod can just move my topic?
The **** is already done, flooding telling me the post is in the wrong section is a shame. :good:
At least you give me a answer.

Its become flood of posts like yours. And usefull posts are being lost in posts that are not needed in developer section. There are General and Q&A section for all problems, questions etc... We want our forum to be dicent! Not chaotic. People just do not care, that get all of us mad.
Congrats, you flood one more time.
To be sure this is a useful topic, the answers:
How can I check the binary counter?
Check in download mode, turn off then (power + home button + vol down)
Kies update via FOTA doesn't work on PC or cellphone
Wipe all data, no idea why, but works.
Please close this topic.

I allready told you how to check binary counter, and you have picture! You really can't read? And yes "power + home button + vol down". P.S. I made you more visible, bigger font and changed color in post where image is.
You are telling to who to close the topic? Admins work on report, they do not read all the threads.
And you would get answer in 5 seconds if you used search button, instead of making thread in dev section. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1595950

It seems people here are quite aggressive..lol.. or they simply wanna show off that they are developers.. instead of creating chaos in the thread a simply report to mods could have solved the problem but no they like to spam more.. secondly the last reply from shut_down gave me cancer.. he didn't understand previous post by thread owner.. lol.. everyone knows you are developers that doesn't mean you show your ducking attitude to others! You are nothing out of the forums! Cheers!

I didn't want to post this but you compel me. I do not entirely support shutt_down for this arrogant thing. The op shouldn't have had posted a question here. But i believe he did not do it intentionally. Mistakes happen. 3-4 guys flamed him for it. Then shut down helped him. The topic was closed there.
WAS THERE ANY REASON FOR YOU TO POST THIS REPLY?
Secondly, why do you think that the developers on xda are a bunch of useless idiots who have nothing else to do except developing?
Everyone has a life. Believe me, most of us just develop for fun. Personally i don't care about whatever you think. But that part wasn't needed.
If every dev for this device stops work, just think who will be at loss.
Just my 2 cents.

I don't post anything anywhere..generally. This time it was necessary to comment. The behaviour of shut_down was not good, admit that. His posts compelled me to comment.
Secondly, I request you to show in my post where did I say that the developers here are useless? You are throwing your own words into my mouth! I never said that and I'd never think of saying that. Second part of my previous post was linked to shut_down´s last post in this thread. This topic have had ended with op's last post but shut_down again replied to the passive post of op. My focus was on that.
Okay, if my previous post is confusing, I'd like to make everything clear again.. my comment was not on the developers overall and it was only limited to the "king attitude" of one developer.
I'm out on this!

Hello friends .. Sorry for my poor English .. Turns out I have an American Tab Galaxy (Claro - Argentina) and inexperience try version 2.3.3 upgrade to a European, JQ1. but at the end of me flashing the screen goes black and only the lights .. Someone can tell me the steps to revive the Tab? Since I saw several ways, but which will not correct .. I await your responses .. Thank you very much!
Greetings!
First, this is a development forum, how you even posted here with only 3 posts is beyond me... Your question should have been asked in *gasp* the question/answer forum.
We need far more information from you in order to give you an accurate answer.
1) What is the exact model number of your tab
2) What did you use to flash with and what files did you attempt to flash?
3) What state is your tab currently in? Does it show ANYTHING when plugged into the wall with the stock charging cable?
Hope we can help.

Chill out, please, for everyones sake. You are not helping anyone. In fact, some people would label you a troll.

My apologies friend, the truth that I was complicated by the English, so all this ..
Start from the beginning .. My Galaxy Tab is the GT-P1000L, originally came with the P1000XWJK1 version, but I try to install the Kernel v1.4.7 OVERCOME, and there comes the problem, because when you turn the device did not work the touch system. When that happened, what Hise was updated to version P1000XXJMQ once update finished with Odin, the team only lit buttons below, but the screen did not light .. After that, the upgrade to the version P1000LVJJM9 of America, he returned to light the screen, but stays in the logo of Samsung (I leave 1 hour and still the same) and that's it .. I can do?
Thank you very much!

Typing in caps is usually taken as yelling or screaming. Then you had two posts when editing the first would have been fine. But not just that, you really had nothing to say that contributed to the conversation, it was just ranting really, about something I had already addressed.
My mother used to tell me "If you don't have anything productive to add to a conversation, then stay out of it." ... now if only my hall monitor of a boss would abide by that rule.

Kosh is correct, your Tab isn't dead, yet. You actually have a Latin tab, not an "American" one. Follow the guide he posted and you should be going on your way.
In the future, try to remember the fact that you have a P1000L ... This is important, as not all kernels and ROMs will run on this version.
You may want to hunt around and try to restock the tab. ... I can't believe I'm about to suggest this, but perhaps if the link above doesn't flash properly you will need to use a firmware from samfirmwares.com ... just be very wary about flashing, it can be dangerous.
If we can help anymore, let us know!

Flash it from that screen and see how it turns up. I can confirm it is soft bricked if you are getting the yellow COM box.

Well, universally, caps = screaming, which is how a LOT of people interprete it. Trying using the bold tag instead to highlight something Fairly easy to just type {B} {/B} (Those being [] obviously) over something
And yes, I have no idea how he managed to post in the Dev section... Maybe a MOD needs to look into that.

LOLD ... yeah maybe i need to do so , but its 5:02am here and i'm really going to sleep .
I was running .5.893 and wanted to update to .6.893. I reverted to stock .886 and applied forever root. I then installed the cheesecake app and went to staging and selected the first server. When I checked for update, it said I was up to date. Is there a way to flash the update without cheesecake, and if so, does anyone have a link to the update files?
EDIT:
Here is a solution provided by thejdog55 below. Thanks jdog.
Here's what I did:
Nandroid
One click back to stock and root/forever root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...62&postcount=1
Download this: http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/d...tml#post106190
Copy the file to SD card and boot into CWM and flash that. It will get your system up to 5.5.893, and reboot.
DL this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=450
Copy the 5.6.893 file to SD card and boot into STOCK RECOVERY(power down, hold volume down, then power on. Hold both volume buttons while in fast boot and press the power button)
Click apply zip from SD Card, make sure you choose the 5.6.983 file, it's going to say 5.5.893 so you may want to delete the 5.5.893 system zip so you don't get confused.
Nandroid again, this way if another update comes out, which 5.7.893 was just found, you can just restore to this and update instead of having to go through the whole process.
After it's done boot up and then you can boot back into CWM and restore your nandroid you made in the very beginning. The 5.6.893 updates the LTE radio mostly, but it seems to correct a problem 5.5.893 was having when switching between modes and losing data connection
The bootloader unlock research thread and Cheesecake thread have a lot more information, so I'd say read all of that before doing this because you don't want to mess up. If you don't really understand what I'm talking about RESEARCH! A lot! Rootzwiki and mydroidworld forums have a lot of information as well.
Hey dude, questions go in general! Not to mention, there are about 100000 threads already talking about the same thing. Maybe search before you post, and read!
Annoying.

Gee with all the policing of threads you do, you would think they would make you a moderator already. Although maybe the fact that they have not should tell you to calm down a little. I have looked for threads, and searched. I have not seen anyone with the same issue of no update being identified.
You constantly tell people to search when the issue they are raising has not been raised before. Please think next time before you flame someone for the thousandth time. I am sure many people feel the same way.
someone has put up a link to the newest update, it is out there if you read through the pages
the method to use it is also out there for you to find if you read
use the damn search button instead of starting a thread looking for someone to give you the answer on a platter

Ive looked in that thread too, and the answer is not there. Unfortunately, some people would rather be a**holes and tell someone to search than to be helpful. I guess for them it makes them feel better about themselves. If I find the answer ddv, I will let you know.
has nothing to do with making myself feel better
it has everything to do with being tired of seeing the same questions asked over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over...

Yes I have read all the posts.
Listen its not about not wanting to help, but there is an ettique to follow. Do you stop at a stop sign even if no one is there?
In that thread there posts pointing everyone where to go if they didn't follow instructions, and how to fix it.

I can use the search button. What I cannot do is find an answer to my problem. You have responded twice, in neither case did you provide any help, but only scolded. If you were not going to be helpful, there is no reason for you to respond. Therefore, the only reason I can think of is that you get some feeling of joy being superior to others, and insulting them. Good for you.

You don't want to research my mistake, well I did not ask you for any help. I asked those willing to help for help. If you are unwilling to help, move along. You are the bad guy for feeling the need to respond when you had no intention of being helpful.

This is the one I have been checking. It is where I was previously able to get the update. Now it says I am up to date. And thank you for actually trying to help. I can assure you it is not just me and ddv who have been having this problem, and there is no place where a solution is easily found. If we can find the answer here, I can change the OP to let others know what to do. This will actually help avoid extra threads. But where the solution to a problem is contained parts in different threads, including threads that are hundreds of posts long, many people will not be able to find a solution.
Here's what I did:
Nandroid
One click back to stock and root/forever root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17920962&postcount=1
Download this: http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...ate-zip-system-only-886-893-a.html#post106190
Copy the file to SD card and boot into CWM and flash that. It will get your system up to 5.5.893, and reboot.
DL this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18859427&postcount=450
A lot! Rootzwiki and mydroidworld forums have a lot of information as well.
hey i really dont understand what is CFroot and it complications, i have a few questions if some developer or someone really knowledgeable person here can answer pls for me and all the noobs out here. and i bet ya all, even some of the really talented and well experienced people out here might also be dodged with these questions:
Q1- is the stock LPY rom safe? the one which we download from xda which is like 500 mb or something?
Q2- what is CFroot? is it harmfull to do full wipe with this?
Q3- what is my kernal in the stock rom which is 500 mb or something? i cant understand it so i attached a screen shot if u can tell me.
Q4- with this (stock rom downloaded and flashed) kernal and everything which u can see in my screen shot can i flash the CWM and root my phone safely with out and issues? can u pls for the sake of android brotherhood, give me some details? i know i can find that in many threads but as i already mentioned do this favor and explain it here for the sake of android brotherhood!
Q5- rocket rom and midnote rom are out for LPY can i flash them with no issues?
i will be really great full to the people helping cause this LPY and BRICKING issue have really been pain in my a** for a couple of days and i m really so afraid to flash without complete knowledge of things.
thanks

no i have posted in the right section and the topic is not a question! and THANKS for your help!
Loose your attitude, it wont let you go far on here. And DEV section is only for Development not Q&A which your thread clearly is. As you see the Mod has already done that. Thirdly there are plenty of places you can read about it.
Anyway...
CFroot is chainfire root and its the kernels/CWM/CFroot mixed together creating problems. No one is sure which one it is.
To make it sure its better not to do any wipes from CFroot CWM, If you want to do full wipe, use abyssnote4.2. then flash your rom on top.
Your kernel is already LPY, which is the latest one. As said above and as in Rocketrom ICS thread install it like that. You should be fine. But then again if you are not sure, then its better late than sorry..

You never posted it in general section. It was in Dev section. So dont lie. And Also We all share informations here. No one is no ones boss. So if anyone tries to be one, then people get on your back just like richie said. Anyway iam done with it.

Yes! i already make thread like that maybe he saw after. but i have same question and no one is answering aprropriately and smillernl why you be mean to someone he is also noob like me and he also wants to learn. atlaest if u told him and gave him an answer too that would be good.
Check the same thread made by inmate @venomgreat here.
Btw, Read the upcoming development for the ROM. Here. So it is not like dev is sitting back and playing rummy.
It is smooth as of now. No Bugs on Interface Level.

What I can tell you is if u find any particular rom that catches your fancy on the ace forum , go ahead and check it out - follow the flashing instructions that accompany the rom. All the roms are awesome and developed by supermen in their own right trying to better their previous creations through the constant endeavour to find perfection. Don't go on the any roms thread and comment negatively like is this good. Read and take your own call.
If u using the ace, don't use rom manager application on the phone. To flash, u require clockworkmod recovery...search this forum and download it.
Always read the entire thread of any rom before u flash...

It is good for me. Try it.

Just try it, all users are different, all uses of the ace are different.
Some will say great performance, some will say not smooth, some will say good battery, some will just go ahead and troll.
Depending on what you do with your phone, the battery, performance and stability will greatly differ. Keep a nandroid backup in case you don't like it. Installing the rom will take you maybe 1 hr if you restore lots of apps, better than spending a week spamming useless stuff.

I'm trying to root my device. After installing "ES File" I am able to access the Z4root.apk
I enable debug mode, and start the Z4 program. I select permanent root. The program is stuck, it never completes rooting my phone and stays on the blue screen showing that it is busy.
What should I do?

With no disrespect you really don't understand xda at all. Xda is has not only basic rules but also guidelines on where to post.
For example question and answers go in q/a and new roms go in development and theme packs go in theme section
The development thread ain't a tech support thread
Development or for developers.
Look if this thread has anything new, or created by you then please let me know
Just post all questions in Q/A section
For rooting I would recommend gingerbreak instead of z4root
Gingerbreak is more reliable
