Yeah I've read that already but I've also read that the motley and omega kernels were the best but this test says otherwise. So I was just seeing what the majority of people would say. Do you have any preference for a battery saving kernel?

Wow, I have about 6.5 hours of on screen time and like 16 hours total since last charge and I have 9% battery left. And I flashed some stuff and rebooted like twice so I'm sure that took up some battery too

Battery life is much more relevant to how you use your tablet than the kernel. I get anywhere from 5-8 hours display time depending on if my usage is more gameplay or more browsing. The only kernel I actually saw a significant difference in battery life under same usage was faux kernel, performed well but my battery died noticeably quicker.
I now use omega 3 because it gives me faux like performance with stock like excellent battery. I used stock for the longest time, and still would if battery was my ultimate priority, but omega 3 smooths out some games and just about equals stock on battery life. I've never on any device actually had a custom kernel improve battery life over stock. What effects your battery life from day to day is primarily the days usage.

You are saying bull**** im sorry, but you never saw any kernel improve more battery than stock? Oh my god, what world you live?
Im a testing this every day since Galaxy S2... So i know what i saying...
I have the N7 5 days, and i test kernel stock for 3 days and i got 6.5h screen on time, after i installed Franco R42 and used the tablet the same way and i got 9h screen on time, now im testing intersect kernrel and i have 85% with 2h and 30min using the same way always
Resuming, any good custom kernel is better than stock.

my choice is still m+ kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1937146
I get screen times around sometimes more than 8+ hours with normal use ( web not high power consuming thd games)
This kernel supports man adjustments like undervolting and setting the frequencies.
its works with trickstermod which lets you even deactivate some Cores. Im running undervolted, underclocked
With just two cores without lag or something.
Give it a try

All your opinion based on your "said" usage. Fact is I got 9 hours screen time on stock if I kept gameplay out of the equation. So no I'm not saying bullish*t, I'm saying my results. Just because yours differ and you buy into the "custom is always better" doesn't make MY findings on MY device any less true. Can custom be better? Sure, but it's not fact that it is.
And you say you've only had your 7 5 days, definitely NOT enough time to get real results. Especially since you spent 3 days on stock and less than that on Franco your results obviously aren't same usage scenarios.
Clarification: same usage means about same amount of use in same timeframe doing same activity. Which 6½ hours usage over 3 days is not the same as 9 hours in less than 2.

That's my story....thanks for enjoying it!

Currently I am running Liberty test build 48. It seems to last me around 6-8 hours on light use but I can't live like this forever. Light use is not why i bought this phone Lets face it. With heavy use every rom I have used has been around 35% after around 2-4 hours of heavy use with 4g enabled. All the reviews gave the bionic great battery life reports. But this is poor, I live with a charger in my pocket.
So my question is which rom are you using and what are you battery life experiences.?

Keeping 4g enabled all the time is what's killing your battery. All of the 4g phones have the issue but from what I've read Bionic is the only one out with decent life.

I have never turned 4G off on my thunderbolt or bionic.
My bionic stock got about 20-30 hours with moderate use. With the TH3ORY roms I get about 8-10 hours.

Just like a computer the better the maintenance the better the performance.
Also as I understand it don't run task killers, its like pulling the plug on your computer over and over and then wondering why everything is unstable.
Also isn't gingerbread built to close apps if they aren't in use after a set amount of time?

6-8 hours isn't good
I've used most Android based phones and all of the Iphones. Loved the utility of the Androids but loved the battery life of the iphones. UNTIL the Bionic.
Based on my Thunderbolt experience I opted for the extended battery for the Bionic. Don't really need it. I use my phone almost totally for data and GPS. Easily 10 hours of heavy usage on standard battery. Not sure about the extended battery.
If you are only getting 6-9 hours on regular usage you really need to trim your running apps or return the phone. In my experience that is WAY under what your expectations should be. My best guess would be about 12-15 hours.
I should be getting mine in the next couple days and I've been curious about the use of 4G.
Is there any reason to have it on for the typical phone features? Such as phone calls, texting and idle. Unless you're a really heavy data user, it seems like you could have 4G off for a fairly significant portion of the day. Am I overestimating the power saved from having 4G off?
I haven't decided whether or not I plan on using any of the current roms, but I'm definitely not going to use one if that's the kind of battery life I can expect. I'd definitely like to hear more input about battery life from those using roms.
I have the 2760mah extended battery. Running d3blurr3d beta4. Im currently testing my battery to see how long it lasts. Right now im at 24 hours and I have 37% battery left. Battery life has been insane coming from the tbolt. Im in the moderate to heavy use bracket.

Having tried all the custom roms out there I can say without a doubt that d3blurr3d (currently running beta4 but beta6 is current) has the best battery life. I agree the r3blurr3d ate my battery alive but this d3blurr3d is a whole new story. Off battery with moderate usage for 12 hours I sit at 53% right now with the extended battery...used to be below 10.
How does it compare to your stock experience?
Where is reblurred at? Saw it before but nit recently. Lately just r3blurr3d 1.7 or the liberty teat build on andirc#bionic

These threads are frowned upon here at XDA for numerous reasons: there's no real answer, they turn into pissing matches and trolling, and this is actually the worst way to find the "best" kernel.
The one and only way to find what's "best" is for you personally to read and take the time to flash kernels and use them for several days under various real-world scenarios. Then and only then can you know.

After updating to 4.3, I have noticed that using the stock ROM/Kernel is giving me better battery life than before.
It's equivalent to what I used to get using custom kernels.
Also, I haven't noticed any overheating. At least it is not worse than before for me.
Now before you say "Oh that's complete Wi-Fi use" or w/e. I never got ~ 5 hours of Screen on Time when not on Wi-Fi before either... even w/ PA and Franco and UVing.
With that being said... In my first 24 hours of 4.3 use, I have 5 hours SOT.
Wondering the same thing myself.. to see if its worth flashing 4.3 for the battery life vs losing my custom rom features and adding some annoying things i've seen like constant notifications..
Would appreciate input from people who have already flashed it. Or I could just wait for uxylon to get on 4.3

Hi Guys,
I'm really getting pissed off with the Z1 now.. I use it quite a bit every day and I struggle to get 3-4 hours of screen time.. Why should I adjust the CPU? Its as it is... I shouldn't have to undervolt or underclock to get better battery life...

if I don't play games I get 6 hours of screen time... 3g browsing... rarely use lte as 3g is more than enough for me...
If I play heavy games (Asphalt 8) I get 4 hours...
if I under clock to 1.7 ghz I get 4-5 hours of gaming...
my stamina is always on...
you can't compare to LG G2, LG G2 uses a new technology on their battery that extends the life up to 20%... and right now LG G2 has the best battery life out there... and their CPU governor actually under-performs the CPU giving it more battery life... thats why the bench marks scores on LG G2 are lower despite it having the same chipset as the Z1...

you can also check Note 3 forums and see that the battery last roughly about the same as xperia Z1
