Getting "Out of space" error while installing apps - Galaxy S Advance I9070 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi ,

I have been constantly getting this irritating ut of space" error while trying to install some apps, and i have followed many solutions such as : lucky patcher ( i cant install it since it also gives me the same error :/) and wiping dalvik cache with fixing permissions but these didnt help at all. I still get the same error. Moreover, i am unable to find .odex files in /data/app folder. Plz help!!!
My phone is Galaxy s GT-S7562 , rooted , android 4.0.4 stock rom.

Can you do backup with Kies? After that do factory reset, and see if problem is solved. Or search whole forum for similiar problem, maybe you find answer.

I know how to solve this.
If are rooted and you're getting this error for a specific app.
Go to data/app using root explorer and delete the odex file associated with it.
Now you can install

I got my problem solved!! It ws all because of some app2sd setting.
But actually i think i have a much bigger concern. Any file browser ( even the root ones) shows my efs folder to be empty. Although its not empty since i had taken a backup of dat folder using efs pro and it showed me to be 20kb in size. But the main worry is that my phone is running in the factory mode and idk how to switch to the user mode. I dont have the system lockscreen anymore but everything else s absolutely fine. I think i froze the service mofde as well as the factory mode app through titanium backup but defrosting them didnt solve the problem and neither did restoring back to factory settings. Please give me a solution if u know of something.

i found another solution. just start the app 'lucky patcher'. when it launches, it clears something, which apparently solves the problem

Please help me!!

[Q] Question after phone factory reset..

Yesterday, my problem is:
Please help everyone, I messed up with my phone..
I installed SGStools yesterday and just click on TouchwizUI GTG and it went all ok....
About the installation of GTG Touchwiz, I think there is an phrase saying "first, install ..... e.g. launcherpro" which I didn't do. But after that it went ok.
THen this morning, I started to notice that evrything i press the middle button once, it will vibrate and an error will popup, and I need to click it again to relaunch the homescreen..
After that, I went to SGStools again and tried to restore my backup, but the backup wasnt there, so I try to reinstall the Touchwiz GTG then afterwards restart the phone, after which, the homescreen is gone but I can still use the notifications and answer calls and text.

I was able to make a workaround by installing LauncherPro by sending a text message on my phone, including website to Android Market, and then it went ok, LauncherPro is installed, then I tried to reinstall SGSTools Faster TWGTG then uninstall LauncherPro. Afterwhich I Factory Reset my phone, cause I want to start all over again.
Question is: Since before I reset it, I already rooted/SuperUser/OCLF/SGSTools on it, Do I need to redo all of them again?
I Noticed that there is an icon of SuperUser I guess, maybe, it is still there..
Thanks in Advance!
Anyone Please?
Anyone know how to do this?
okay now my phone is ok

[ROM] Darky's ROM 9.5 - Market Problem

Hi
I have recently flashed Darky's ROM with no problem. It's damn fast but i can't download anything from market . When i try to do it it just apears to download for like 2 sec then it's gone...
I have tried the Market fix from SGS Tools that came with the ROM but still nothing.
Any help will be appreciated !!!
You can try to find the lastest market apk and install it after deleting your current market app from your phone. I read this somewhere before. Hope it helps

2 thinks you can do
First delete the Market update in the Phone and make a restart.
Second think you can do is, Make Backup from your current Rom (Nandroid Backup)
and install the Rom over Darkys App with a Wipe and put the Backup-Files back.
Don´t forget to deactivate the Lagfix.
greetings Dimes

I also have this problem. Pls show how to fix it.
Thanks
I solved my market problem...
After some investigation, I found my problem: it was in the cache directory, corrupted after flashing with darky's 9.5...when someone tries to download an app from the market, android checks if there's enough space on the cache directory...if not the download starts for a little while then stops. In my case, cache directory was corrupted and its free space was about 400k instead of 32Mb. So I flashed only cache.rfs with heimdall and the problem went away
Hope this helps to fix this boring issue.

Have you tried going to the market app and uninstall updates and clean data? I've had this problem and it was solved after this.
Go into recovery and wipe cache partition.

im guessing its the new market
Solution 1-Go to manage apps-Market-Uninstall updates and clear data
Solution 2-Needs Root
Flash old market as Zip in CWM
After flashing I always delete /system/app/marketupdater.apk
Finally hit my thanks, before i hit u! loll

No, not all the time. Just when I wipe dalvik cache and on first boot after. Try to do that, like Frapeti said.

Go to CWM, on first page there is wipe cache - do it. Then go to advance and there is wipe dalvik cacke. Do it too. It should do that thing on start one more time (because wiping dalvik) and on others it will not.

Afaik, the tz kernel must be having some zipalign script. The script must be causing the issue!

the message occurs to me everytime I use deodexed ROM, ie. immediately after flashing deodexed system and apps, the first enter into GUI takes couple of minutes - there's a window with text "optimizing application x of y" but on later reboots it just appears for a short while without numbers.

[Q] system ui problem

I have looked everywhere for this, but cannot find it. I am not sure how, but the systemui.apk is no longer on my phone, and so all features that it controls are not working. Does anyone have the apk for the Note 1 N7000 jelly bean update that I can download? I am going crazy without my notification bar.
My kernel is 3.0.31-906407
[email protected] #3
Build number: JZO54K.N7000JPLSB.
I have done a factory reset, and tryed to replace it with apk's I have found. I looked at rooting the phone, but I need to ensure I have it till the 28th, when if I cannot fix it my husband will root it. Please let me know if you can help.
Thank you

How do you know systemuiapk is missing? I would expect that it would show a boat load of errors on boot up and not run. What are the symptoms?

It is not listed in the "All Apps" section of the apps manager.
Symptoms: When my phone rings the notification to tell me who is calling does not pop up. I have to go into the phone app to even see who is calling, much less answer the call.
My notification bar is gone.
When I get a text message my phone will vibrate, but not chime.
My wall paper is gone.
I have found threads about rooted phones where people have removed the systemui that this are the same symptoms they have. The problem is that they had the original rooted program they used, so can reinstall that. I cannot do that, as my phone is not rooted. That is why I think my systemui is gone.
Install root explorer and check in /system/app folder for the apk, or in /preload/symlink/system/app. If it's there in preload, you will need to create a symlink for that in system/app.

You won't be able to install it as you're not rooted and it requires administrator privileges. But it's there anyway so I don't think that's the issue.
When did it stop working and was there any app you installed beforehand?

Thats really strange... Try rebooting into recovery (Vol up, home and power held down until you see samsung logo) then choose wipe cache and reboot. I doubt that will fix it though.
Only other options I can see are to root device by installing phillz kernel, wipe cache and dalvik from recovery, or root device, reinstall the app and make sure permissions are correct, or wipe device and start from scratch.

You said you tried to replace it ? How? Do you have an odex or deoxed rom? Anyways you will need root access to resolve this issue if you dont want to go about reinstalling the rom again.

Stop playing with essential parts of your system if you have absolutely no idea of what you are doing.
To get back to a reliable configuration:
download a stock rom and install it following the instructions in Dr. Ketan's thread here.
After that: start to read and learn. High probability this will protect the life of your device.
