Hi there,
We tried to update a telstra branded P7320T Gtab (Honeycomb 3.2) to the ICS releases based off the 4.0.4 drops from Scandanavian providers for the P7320 i.e Arlics Rom (this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1923371 ).
Everything works fine; however 4G APN's do no register, this is most likely a Kernel/Qualcom band mismatch with the Telstra baseband and the updated kernel version in the ICS builds.
Arlics rom does not contain modem/basebands so it is most likely the updated kernel drivers in the 4.0.4 drops misbehaving with the P7320T baseband used by Telstra and Telecom NZ's trail.
Reverting to the Telstra stock solves the problem.
This was tried off a Test Telecom NZ LTE APN (no UMTS functionality - UTMS works ok however).
I would like to hear from any Telstra Australia users who know they are in LTE areas whether or not they get LTE on Gtabs running this rom.
- Apologies for posting here; and not in the thread, the forum policy prevents me from posting their.

Similar experience
I had a similar problem. When I flashed the leaked rom (which wasn't from a Scandinavian provider, by the way, but from a Polish one - forums got it wrong), LTE stopped working. Haven't tried Arlicc's, reluctant to especially now that it seems abandoned.
Sad that the 7320 gets so little love Official ICS release here in Norway has been delayed yet again for the umpteenth time.
You should try the latest version available (XXLPI - to be installed by Odin, no wipe necessary). It seems much better at switching between 4G and GSM/CDMA than the early ICS OTA version I used to have (the one the Arlicc's ROM is based on).

Are you using that on Telstra's network ? Can you post the baseband version?
Sorry, I'm using it in Poland however it's dedicated for other parts of Europe. It contains an upgrade to baseband version P7320XXLP7.
Did not succeed
Until I downgraded this to the last NCM version (a Honeycomb version) again, I couldn't get LTE to work. The TEN Ice Cream Sandwich version from 5.12 did not permit LTE, despite being a Norwegian carrier and me being in Norway.

Hi xda-community maybe you guys can help me with my S3 LTE. Its the german one so the gt-9105 and I'm using T-Mobile.
Everything worked great all the time with your roms here but since 3 days after updating to the newer 4.1.2 roms my LTE Internet is no more working. H+ and E works fine and it also Shows the lte Signal straight when its available but it Shows no more 4g Icon and its also not connecting to the Internet. so i have to force wcdma all the time and that sucks on an lte phone.
What is the Problem or did I something wrong? Allready tried different 4.1.2 roms and different flashable basebands but didnt work.
What can i do to get it working on that roms.
Use the correct rom then.
Every Rom in the Galaxy S III I9305 (4G LTE + 2GB RAM) Android Development section is correct isnt it? Until now every one worked expect the 4.1.2 roms -.-
Since Samsung have yet to release a firmware with 4.1.2 I would say you are using an incorrect one. Otherwise complain to the firmware maker.
Hello,
I have a Samsung Galaxy s3 and ever since going to 4.3 my signal strength for mobile is weak, very weak.
I have re booted phone, taken battery out, tried different modems but all with no luck.
Has anyone else had this issue and successfully fixed it?
Cheers
Got the same issue, as I flashed the new Alliance Rom on my S3 LTE. Most time I had just one of five network points.
So I did another Full Wipe, and used the Boeffla Kernel with stock modem.
Got slight better results, but there are always lil interferences while talking. Probably its the bad network by german T-Mobile.
Regards
I have the australian optus version and signal where I live is really crappy on 4.1.1 I upgraded to 4.3 the newest one from hong kong (the one my rom is based off) and now I have found that the modem and ril driver in that version is giving me stronger 3g and 4g signal
Sent from my GT-I9305 using xda app-developers app
what modem and ril driver do you have now ? could you please share?

I am in Hong Kong with the following
JB 4.3 XXUEML8 rxtreme JB 4.3-V2.0
Hong kong modem ZHUCMK1
Stock kernel of XXUEML8
My house is at 35/F of a building, my phone will have signal as stated below:
LTE/WCDMA/GSM signal with 2-3 out of 4 bar
WCDMA/GSM signal normally full 4 bar
Hey everyone I am back developing again haha Noticed this myself with 4.3 so I have looked into it and noticed something very different with 4.3GSM RIL class files. They are are all reverted to the standard GSM ril type files, where as on all previous generations have used QMI based RIL.
I have created a patch that I am about to test and if I have any luck I will upload it here for you guys to try out for your selves. It should work for other countries as well so long as you have noticed a difference in the RIL types between 4.3 and 4.2 or earlier? If not then I would suggest leave things as they are and flash a new modem.
I am on Optus and I am comparing the first 4.3 release to a stock Optus Android XXALI5-OPS, does anyone know what the version number is called from the OTA update for Optus?

I have the same problem. My wife has an I9305 and I have an I9300, both with 4.3, my signal is way better and usually get H+ internet and she just gets Edge.
Any progress on the fix? I would love to have the patch, or even just the information on which files to change and what to change.
Thanks
I need some clarification regarding android and radio baseband.
I'm running latest cm-11 nightly and my baseband version is XXUEMK1
Is this radio included in the cyanogenmod ROM or is it a separate partition that wont get updated with a ROM flash?
I've found the thread with a list of different radio ROMS for the i9305. Are these optimized for different countries or will they work regardless of country?
Is there a way to backup my current radio if I want to try a different radio and need to revert? XXUEMK1 is not listed in the thread with all the ROMS.
Found some information in another tread:
Baseband / Modem / Radio - This is the software that manages your connection to wireless networks, be that voice or data. Unlike unrooted users, you can download and flash any number of i9300 (Versions for other models WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE) or i9305 radios pulled from official ROMs. I wouldn't waste too much time on them. Usually what your official ROM comes with in your country / for your carrier, is the most optimised for you. Try a few by all means but don't waste time testing every last one.
Be aware that Samsung official ROMs come with a baseband. Often this means Samsung based custom ROMs may also do so. Some ROMs which install using the Aroma installer (A kind of set-up wizard) may give the option to not flash the baseband. AOSP ROMs almost never come with a baseband. When you flash a ROM withotu a baseband, the previous baseband remains. You can by all means, mix and match ROMs and basebands. You are not tied to the baseband with the same build number as the ROM. For example, if you are on XXEMB1 ROM, you definitely do NOT have to stay on the XXEMB1 baseband.

I've kind of same issue.
My SIII LTE is working fine with CM10 but when I upgrade to CM11, it doesn't work anymore :crying:
I've almost everything working apart from the MODEM and for a phone, I'm sorry to say that it is annoying
I'm using my S II with OMNI ROM and I miss my S III :crying:
Any help will be welcome :good:
I attached a screenshot of my system.
GSM users on AOSP ROMs may experience random reboots. The problem only seems to occur when connected to LTE and switching cell towers, like when driving. I believe that many users have mistaken this for GPS problems, when in fact the reboot is triggered by the baseband. I've been using the VS980 with T-Mobile. The problem occurs on all Kitkat and Lollipop AOSP roms, but not on stock. I seem to have found a solid solution. This is a flashable 26A modem with the 11A baseband firmware:
Download 26A+11A Hybrid Modem
The 26A hybrid works with all roms that work with the 26A modem, both AOSP and stock. I have tested this one extensively with several roms and it works great. I used it for a week with zero reboots. For users with reboot issues, I recommend using a 26A based rom and this modem.
What about 39A?
I had previously posted a 39A/11A hybrid. It doesn't work--the phone reboots on incoming calls. Soon I will try a 39A/12B hybrid.
Details
The modem partition that we've been flashing is actually a FAT partition that contains many binaries. These binaries run in various parts of the SOC controlling audio DSP, DRM, WLAN, the baseband, and more. I don't know what all the parts do, but the baseband firmware is just one of these parts. The baseband firmware is a self contained proprietary RTOS that runs in a dedicated processing core in the SOC. Apparently the differences between modem partitions that make older ones incompatible with newer roms is not due to the baseband itself. The old 11A baseband firmware still works great and does not cause reboots when used with AOSP roms.
Why 11A
I was experimenting with NVRAM edits to unlock support of additional bands. I found that 11A is the last firmware that pays attention to the relevant values. All later basebands have hardcoded values that will revert the edits. It follows that the later basebands have been more deeply modified for Verizon and that 11A is a more generic G2 baseband. Other basebands may work well too, but I haven't tried it. This was the first one that I tried and it works great. I seem to be getting a stronger signal and better data speed, but it could be placebo. As an added bonus it is possible to experiment further with band unlocking.
Will this work on vs98039a stock on micromods xtream 1.1 rom?

No. That is a modified stock 39A rom. The 39A hybrid modem only works with AOSP based roms.
So is this just for GSM users? I have a VS980 on Verizon running AOD rom.. I have random reboots lol

Give it a shot, it might help. You can always flash back to your current modem. Let us know how it works out.
Flashed this on unofficial cm 12. We'll see how it goes.
Will this baseband allow me to enable LTE bands 2, 5, and 17 for usage on AT&T? @jacob019, I saw your post in the in the LTE unlock thread. Were you ever able to get LTE band 17 working on T-Mobile?

Yes and no. Yes, it will allow you to modify the NV values needed to unlock bands. I tried unlocking band 17, but my phone never connected to it. I think the hardware doesn't contain the necessary filters to support the band. Unlocking other bands may work, but I didn't have any to test.
Is it possible that T-mobile doesn't use band 17 in your area? According to this link, they only use LTE bands 2, 4, and 12 currently.

@jacob019, have you tried bands 2 and 12? As far as I can tell, T-mobile doesn't use band 17
I tried band 17 with an ATT sim. I only get T-Mobile LTE on band 4 here in Indianapolis, even with a phone that supports the other bands. Therefore I have been unable to test any other bands.
can you talk and surf at the same time coming off of LTE (without wifi of course). On a normal Tmobile headset, when you are on LTE, it'll drop down to hspa to connect to the call still allowing you to surf. Verizon model seems to drop all the way down to GPRS when a call is made if you are on LTE at the time the call is made. When in GPRS mode, data is disabled.
will this work on d802?
I have the T 817 T (which is the T-Mobile LTE version of the tablet) but there's nothing available in the way of custom roms or anything... I was wondering if I could flash a ROM meant for the Wi-Fi only Version of this tablet...i know I obviously wouldn't have LTE access but would it boot and run otherwise?
I remember back in the days of the original Nexus 7 I could Flash Roms meant for the Wi-Fi only version on my LTE without issue.... Thanks for any input guys.
