I have got a 1A power original charger which comes with the phone I9305 from HK.
I have noticed that my battery percentage is keep dropping while I'm using video chat or opening many apps even I plugged the power cord in.
However it charges properly when I don't do video chatting or any other processes.
Does anyone notice it?

try a different cable? otherwise buy a new charger, the stock chargers have been known to be bad
Yes, you're right. My problem solved after I changed the micro usb cable (Not Charger though).

FYI: Best chargers for any phone that charges with microUSB, are the stock Blackberry ones (the old, bulky ones, not the newer cubes)! By far!!!

Dear XDA tribe,
My dad recently handled me his Samsung Galaxy Tab P-1000.
It has been on my desk for a long time without turning it on, like it hasn't been used for over than 5 months.
Now I got an adapter and I wanted to charge it and use it.
I plugged in the charger and the battery appeared and it was charging a bit green. I gave it an hour then tried to power up the tab, it did not work.
Now when I put it in the charger it gives me the following, and it keeps appearing and disappearing. On and on.
I would really like your help, thanks in advance.
What is that white cable?
Do you have the original cable and charger?

Thanks for the fast reply, it feels good to have someone helping.
Don't mind the white cable, they're just headphones.
I have attached a pic of my cable charger.
Should be right charger, doesn't look like mine but mine is USA plug.
The symptom you describe, it is as if the connection isn't good.
Try plug it snugly and leave it for 5-8hr and see how it goes.
Edit: is the charger rated 2A?

It used to charge with it, like I could see the battery getting more greener and all. But it doesn't do that now.
I tried getting it into the download mode, ODIN finds it, and looses it in 2 seconds.
The charger says as follows;
OUTPUT: 5.0V = 1.0A
Well, his charger looks different as he is from Riyadh. Priyana's method should work
But mine is 2A. I think this charger is a bit underrated. Should be ok still. But charge slower. Don't go flashing until it is full.

Well, I don't really think it is charging.
I left it for an hour now, it's still doing the same thing.
Would it be a good idea to open it apart so I can remove the battery and let it work straight on the electric plug?
Hhmm..
I think the circuit doesn't work that way.
But you can charge using a PC USB port too albeit slow.
I still think you don't have the right wall charger.
Sure it isn't mixed up with some other Samsung device?
Edit: attached picture of my charger, with the removable bit to change the pin plug, I suspect a UK plug is available.

So you still think I should get another charger. Although this one used to charge it.
So you don't recommend opening the device?

Yes, just keep charging. You know that car charger may work better? Those that goes to cigarette lighter.
Car batt has higher amp and the DC charging is more pure than AC to DC.
I don't recommend opening and I don't know if it works.
In my HTC magic, if I take out the battery, the charger won't power up the phone.
The point is, just keep charging if you can, on PC, USB 2/3 or car.

Alright, I fixed it. Here's what happened;
I thought that since the connection seems to be interrupted, I thought that it was time to change the battery since so much time has passed on and the device didn't work.
So I got a new battery, installed it and WA LA !
THE GALAXY IS BACK TO LIFE AGAIN!
Thanks for your help everybody!
Thank you Priyana
Anyone had any luck with these cables? Specifically using an external DAC while still powering the phone. It's possible on my Nexus 7 with a custom kernel.

I am using one of these cables, but in a different manner, ie I am accessing a WD Passport 1TB external drive. (does not have ac in) Both my drive is powered AND my phone is charged. (tried using both a 10kmAh external battery pack as well is direct AC adapter.
Know it's not exactly the setup you are using, but as far as cables go, the phone seems to work well with this setup. YMMV

If I may ask, where did you get the cable? The only one I found so far is on Amazon and review there say that it will not charge the phone, just the external device.

Got the same cable and its not working, do we need a special kernel to make it work?
Sent from my GT-N8000 using xda app-developers app
On my Nexus, I did have to flash the right kernel. I'm guessing that will have to happen here too.
Why not make a cable that will charge and otg

Just an update. I ordered one of these http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=261170130579&index=0&nav=SEARCH&nid=87388073446
Should have it next week to test but based on the seller's description and testing on similar devices, sounds promising. I'll report back.
I have just bought it.
Initially USB hosting works, but I have no chance to charge at this time.
-----update-----
The female micro USB jack does not charge the phone like the one for Galaxy Tab.
Do you think we still need to add a 40.2k ohm resistor just in the galaxy s3 and will a stock kernel work?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
I would like to add I managed to get an OTG + charging cable working for the Note 2 (N7100) using a cable made with these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1953061
But... the 4.1.2 update stopped the USB from working on my Note 2, and someone else is reporting a similar problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38611244&postcount=42 . What happens is the Note 2 does detect it's using a dock, but the USB functionality doesn't work for some odd reason (even after a reboot).
I will reply again if it starts working in a future update.

Probably the same as the s3 - shorted pins = otg+no charging, resistor fools the phone into thinking it has an accessory/dock that can charge safely.

It sees that it's in a "dock" but nothing I plug in will work. It does charge though. If I short out the pins I get host mode, but no charging. This is with the Jedi rom, not stock.
In the car I have to use the usb port on my FM Transmitter which is like 70ma! So it's a trickle charger. I tried the ones with my car socket adapter nope as they are 500ma.... I also have a 2.1A adapter but yeah that of course won't work.
So do I need to fish out a 100ma for it to charge properly in the car? I think I have some usb car adapters somewhere from other gadgets I can try....
Picky phone.... Any tweaks to make it accept more juice?
Just curious....
I have no problem using my car charger, or USB port on my stereo, I have even used a 9v battery to charge my phone. Maybe you have a bad port

Could it be the USB cable? I noticed with the duel port backup battery I have 2.1/1A it will only charge on the 1A port. I was hoping for quicker charging on the 2.1A port.

Yeah it's annoying.
I too am having big issues with using car chargers. I guess I never tried before. I tried with several chargers in several cars. No luck at all getting my T-mobile Samsung Exhibit 4G to charge. I want to start using it for navigation.
What is the duracell charger mentioned above. I saw a duracell charger at the drugstore but it was just a lighter plug adapter and looked just like any other. Do duracell cigarette lighter plug adapters work with the T-mobile Samsung Exhibit 4G better than other adapters?
Is this a known issue about T-mobile Samsung Exhibit 4phones not working with car adapters? I will search for other threads on the issue but haven’t seen it except for here.
I am running peach sunrise if that matters.
Thanks
Drew
The Duracell one gives the proper power out for this phone, as well as the Nexus 4, so I would imagine it works on all Android phones, making it a good investment. Some come will Android and iPhone plugs, too!

I purchased one of these cables at Fry's (Frys # 7673737) and when I use it with the usb plug block which came with the Note II it charges faster than the original Samsung cable. I also get higher numbers on the Galaxy Charging Current *Lite* app. It was originally $14.99, but on sale now for $4.95.
Hey there rvb1. How much higher were your numbers when using the galaxy current charging app? I am curious because I was in the market for a new cable and live within distance of Fry's. Wish I had known sooner, I already pulled the trigger, purchased, and now waiting for d.i.y. usb and micro usb connectors to fashion my own heavy gauge, high current cables. A few of them I will make for charging only (data ports bridged within plug) because I have another charger or two (non-samsung) that will not charge at high rate unless the data ports are bridged. Until now, I have been using a usb adapter that I made to do so. Anyway, good find and at a good price.....
With Cygnet I get maximum 1800. With the original Samsung cord I get 1300.

Anyone that understands the whole wiring and power in cables; why is that if the charger is 2.1 amps, why does it not fully hit that or am I mis understanding the concept. I know different USB cables will vary.

It may have something to do with the overall supply of power to the outlets. As in the wiring through the house. I think that's the only other legitimate option as to why we can't get the whole 2.1. Or maybe even the hp concept for cars. Maybe have 300 hp rating but after output and everything you're at 275. Just my 2 cents

Reason for the whole horsepower deal in cars it's simply the fact that at the crank or the flywheel it will make all that power it just loses the power going through the hole the whole engine to the actual wheels I can go further in detail into that but its not necessary

Thanked you by accident when I went to quote you there
It probably isn't his USB port on the phone if it's charging fine from a laptop with USB cable.
I'd be checking that the charger definitely works by charging another device with it, if you have one. The voltage pins on the phones socket are the same whether you're charging with a charger or plugging into a computers USB, so if one way wasn't working then nothing should be working.

Could just be the plug on the charger possibly, I've had that happen before. There are two little sprung prongs on one side of it. I've had well used chargers before that I've had to get a pair of pliers and pull them out a little..
The fact that it works on your wife's phone doesn't mean it can't be the plug on your charger. Could just be that your USB port is a tiny bit more worn than hers. Doesn't mean that your port is totally screwed.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
I have tried three different chargers and none of them charge my phone. I'm very interested in your comment about the USB port being slightly more worn.
I am constantly flashing different Roms etc across using ums/ mtp so that does make sense. Also the USB cable that I use to charge my laptop is an old Nokia cable and the USB connector (phone end) is a little tighter.
Thanks.

Hi @sbnaul Unfortunately I haven't had much progress at all. My device connects with Odin & PC etc with no problem, it is just the charging issue using the mains charger. I have discovered that if I push in and hold the usb connector of the mains charger it will charge. Obviously though, none of us have the time to sit there and hold the phone for its charging process. If I have any further progress I will post here. Good Luck with your own problem, that must be a headache.
