My HTC Sensation XL has little to no problems prior to this so I hope this is very fixable. I was using the CM9 ROM and all of a sudden my WIFI started to hang and stop working etc. I flashed a different sense rom but the same happened. I then relocked the bootloader and installed stock ICS but the same still happens. This is basically what happens. I press connect to my wifi and then it loops through "Connecting" "Obtaining IP Address" and "Disconnected". After a while it finally connects but I still cannot access the internet. After about another 5 minutes, I have access to the internet for about 30seconds-1min and then back to no internet although the WIFI is connected. This is weird since all my other devices that are connected to the WIFI are fine. Please help since this is really killing me as I have very limitted Mobile data. Thanks
It is a software issue, but as of me not being a dev I do phone repairs and I can tell you its not a hardware error, have you read manufacturers details about your router? Maximum connections? Maybe its a fault within the router?

If you flashed stock rom via ruu then it is a hardware issue but it can also be a router issue. Try connecting to another WiFi another place and see if it is the same. If it is then it is hardware issue. But I have never seen that before.

If your able to search for WiFi ands successfully find a hotspot its a hardware issue, if like anders said its stock Rom chances are its a hardware issue on either ur router or phone!

Thanks for the replies guys, not sure what the issue was but it happened after I installed ubuntu on my laptop. I reverted back to Windows 7 and now the problem has gone away. Maybe some IP Address conflict issues. But yeah, not a ROM issue.

Hi all,
I am currently using the ROM by NiK (Trinity Sensation XL 1.5) and overall the ROM is brilliant. However I have found one small fault.
My university has very strict security and since installing the ROM I have been unable to connect, the device shows "connecting" under the wi-fi option and then instantly disconnects and the cycle is repeated.
I was wondering if anyone has found a solution to this (flashing radio, changing settings etc.) that they could post their solutions as using the mobile network all the time drains my battery considerably quicker than I'd like
P.S I have not changed any of the radios or kernels since flashing the Trinity ROM.
Many thanks in advance!

Ok random problem for me..
Using the note since December last year with no problems... Until now!
Have tried most custom roms now but have recently stuck with stock as I like to use the sky go app so I can watch the F1 at work.
My problem is with any ICS Samsung based ROM my wifi keeps dropping and then reconnecting but the strange thing is only with my virgin media dlink router. If I connect to my BT home hub its fine (but so slow on YouTube etc and my PC is hooked to the virgin line which I use for all share)
Is there a fix for this? I don't want to go back to GB even though the connection problem doesn't occur there as I'm one of the few who actually likes stock ICS. I have done a search and there are a lot of complaints threads etc even with the s2 but no definitive fixes. Any and all help and suggestions appreciated
Cheers

OpenWrt
Have the same issue with Stock SGN ICS and routers with OpenWrt. Still dont know what causing it.
Regards.
Yeah, I´ve been experiencing that too. I have been working abroad recently, and when I was at home it seemed fine so I assumed it was the network rather than the phone. Using it side by side with my ipod, the ipod is working more consistently, so I wonder if it just has problems holding a connection when the wifi signal is weak (all the routers here are wireless G, while at home I used a newer N router). I noticed, in particular, that when the ipod was reporting very poor signal, the note was giving good signal, but was not able to connect, and then lost connection altogether.
Do you still get drops if you have your phone very close to the access point?
I get less frequent drops if im closer but it still loses connection then auto reconnects. I just never had this problem with GB.
Well i thought i'd try a couple of the custom roms.. So far King Droid 4.2, AllianceRom V1, Cassies XLR and now on RocketRom v7. They are all doing it. Im at my wits end.
So im now gonna try a few different kernels.. If i remember rightly the kernel handles the WIFI?

First restart your router and also assured that your internet is in working state.
and if it is phone prob then try some app from market like wifi fix, etc.
And last thing you could try is flashing the rom again.

This is a common prolem in new experience...it's the main reason why i switched to another rom. The problem is not in your router. It's in ROM's kernel.
A possible fix is to connect to desired wifi connection then restart your phone, it should connect automaticlly. And you have to do this every time you connect to a wifi apn...
You can try flashing another kernel.

Thank you so much for your answer....ok i will try what you say...thank so much again
I'm using New experience too.. i don't have that problem.. I used to face similar issue when i was in stock.. wifi kept getting disconnected.. i read somewhere that the router settings was not appropriate for few phones.. didn't make sense at first.. went ahead and changed the "Lease time" settings under "LAN settings" in the router page to "two weeks" from "forever" (not necessarily "two weeks".. any option except "forever" will do) . Never had that issue again..

thank you i will try to configured my router...im installing back the NEW EXPERIENCE, this rom is stable and fast thats y use dis since autoradio release. again thank you for the info.
Hey guys.
Like the title says, ever since I flashed this rom, I am unable to connect to my 5Ghz wifi.. I used to connect to it just fine when I was on stock.
When I try to connect it just says "saved" but doesn't attempt to "authenticate" or "obtain an IP address" or any of the other usual stuff it does.
Just wondering if anyone else had a similar issue and managed to fix it? Help would be much appreciated.
Yes i have the same issue. Didnt connect to my router On pa and cm10.1/10.2.
I entered pw and it says "saved" but no connection. I am searching so long about a fix even with open wlan it did work and 2.5Ghz...nothing...dont know what to do. On stock everything is fine! Let me know when you have a fix for that pls.

I'm having issues with wifi after converting my HTC one to a Google Edition.
I'll connect to my school wifi fine, but every single time, after a certain amount of time it just stops working. I'll still be connected to the wifi network, but I can't connect to the internet.(When I'm at home, I don't have this issue)
My friend also has the HTC One stock, and wifi works fine. My gf has a nexus 4, so it uses stock android with no problems.
What is with my HTC One GE that isn't working?
I've tried a factory reset twice now, and it didn't help at all.
Help is appreciated! This is super annoying and is literally hindering my productivity because I don't have enough data to just use cellular service.
Help please

What happens on stock Sense firmware? If you are S-OFF, flash Dev edition RUU and test.

Yeah. That is a Google Play Edition Issue on 4.4 KitKat and above... you won't be able to fix this issue (except rewriting a part of GPE)
This here helped me in Wi-Fi's like your school wifi:
[root] Pry-Fi
but if you disconnect and reconnect you have to re login because you have a new Mac...

Gah, not what I was hoping for
I was hoping it was a specific issue I had, not an actual android issue.
Why is it only GPE that is affected by this? Explains why my GF's nexus 4 works well.
This is a bummer. I guess I have to revert back to stock.......I get disconnected and reconnected from wifi all the time due to the wifi not being 100% everywhere on campus.
Thanks for the help, at least I know now that I can't do anything about it, time to go back to stock.
Are the revert to stock guides in you're sigs work from a GPE to stock?
i know how you feel

it's not just the GPE, I switched my AT&T HTC One to Developer Edition and have lost wifi since 4.4. I downgraded back to stock and worked my way up the updates with no luck. back to dev edition now 4.4.2 and still no luck

I just went back to stock sense 4.3 and I'm having the same issues still. Before conversion I had no issues.
Why is it still happening?
Could a factory reset work? I assumed when I flashed the ruu it just wiped everything.

Run the full RUU if available.
What do you mean by that? I converted my phone from GPE back to stock using the AT&T ruu.

Still looking through the internet for help, still found none.
similar issue
I'm on ViperOne 4.4.2 with similar issues. Only my router is a meter away from me, so the connection is excellent. Wifi on phone keeps disconnecting, but what is interesting, it does so like it's scheduled to do so. For an example - it'll work fine for an hour, more or less, & then it'll start to play games - disconnect, reconnect, scan for networks & show nothing, or try to connect & fail, or even get stuck at 'turning on'. Every problem that I have with my wifi can be temporarily 'fixed' with a reboot, then wifi will work fine for some time & start to disconnect again. HELP?
BTW this started after 4.4.2 update. I've downgraded back to 4.2.2, to 4.3 & now I'm back on 4.4.2, no changes. Did this update **** something up in my phone's hardware or what?

I have a similar problem to what was initially discussed in this thread. Company wifi has multiple routers throughout the building/department - when I first connect to the system everything works great, but after moving to a different room and connecting to a different router (same network/wifi) the internet connection is lost. I stay connected to wifi, with strong signal, but don't have any data connection. In order to get internet back I have to turn the wifi off and back on - everything works fine until I walk into a different room and connect to a different router.
I'm on an HTC One Google Edition - don't remember having this problem before rooting the One from Sense to GE, but I wasn't streaming radio broadcasts of baseball games over the internet until a week ago, which was when this became a real annoyance.
