About Carbon
CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub.
We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.
Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.
Features
Simply stated, we can't really list features here. There are too many and they change too frequently, and we now support a truly insane number of devices. Chances are, if you like a feature, we have it already. Seriously.

Download Carbon
All Carbon downloads and further information such as features, changelog, and FAQ can be found on our goo.im page.
Both nightly and release builds are available. Please note that nightlies are for development purposes. This means that they may not work properly, may not flash, may not build for days at a time, and will probably eat your cat. If you flash these, know what you're doing, have backups, and don't complain when something happens. It's on you!

Support
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our goo.im page linked above. It's new, but expanding fast. Just like us!
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Join our G+ Community: http://community.carbon-rom.com This is where we spend the bulk of our time and the best way to reach us and other community members. We update and frequent this community far more than XDA, simply due to time constraints and the convenience of G+.
5) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

Whenever I start a GPS app phone soft reboots.
Great ROM, reminds me of Codename Android for the GNex but have to revert to my nandoid because of the GPS bug. Hope it'll be fixed soon.
Edit: Got it fixed, I had to disable and re-enable the Location access.
Edit2: Still have GPS soft reboots, looks like it's a CM issue: http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/31539/. Not yet fixed.

Don't know why this wasn't tested before. I told nocoast about the issue before he made the build to test it before and to revert that patch if gps didn't work. Sorry about that I will try to get a new build out after work today if no one else does before I get home.
This is cool. Excited to see what the "old Liquid team" comes up with. And w/ morfic and kejar to boot...I expect some great things to come.

No way I'm leaving these forums, even if it means I am the only one developing for it
Was away since I had some priorities to be taken care of, and the break was needed anyways.
Anyways, I notice that the Home button seems to be not working. Will be fixed in next build.
Do go through all the customization options in the Settings menu, plenty for all tastes
Cheers!

OK the n8000 build over night without any issues. Added the latest CM kernel and modules. Uploading now. I really need some people to test it and provide fee back as I dont own the n8000 and am unable to test it personally.
Also what do you n8013 guys think? Haven't heard any feed back yet. Thanks
Sent from my dark hole called an office.
Installed in n8013...
Runs pretty fast and smooth..
Few bugs- More of a cosmetic issues
1. navigation bar - icons not shown in phone mod
2. Editing of the menu resulted in system ui error , needing a factory reset. All good since then
3 . When trying to change height of navigation bar and looks like device thinks portrait is landscape and vice versa
3.sliding brightness of taskbar does not seem to work
4. No icons show up in the notification bar in phablet mode . however fine in tablet mod
5. Also a direct link to gapps in first post would be great ( Not the modded one from OP)
Will report more later
Re: [ROM][4.2.2] AOKP MR1 Kang Project
Works great! I'm rocking the tablet mode and I'm loving it..I think that's a first from other cm 10.1 ROMs! The only thing I can't find are the nav bar transparency settings but I see how implementing those might be a pita. Everything else seems to be working fine and as usual the AOKP rom controls are spot on. Don't worry I think people will come on board when the get tired of Samsung's tw nightmare and lack of customization. Keep up the good work man! Oh and Netflix still needs entropy's module fix if anyone uses it.
Sent from my GT-N8013 using XDA Premium HD app
The only two things that I miss are
1. Multiwindow - There was a talk about implementing cornerstone by cyanogen team, but looks like it was dropped as google was not happy with it.. Hopefully someone would re start the project
2. Samsung keyboard. Love the handwriting recognition engine in it.. But read somewhere that someone has port it.. Will have to find that out...
Good deal. Thanks guys! I will look into the cosmetic issues and see if I can cherry pick anything for them. Since I ported these over there isn't a device maintainer as of yet so I might have to do thing more manually. Cornerstone would be awesome and something I might look into soon if this thing really takes off. I think Rob had it working pretty well on the tenderloin. @TexasRules777 do you also have a link to the Netflix fix?
Still waiting on some feed back on the n8000. Lmao don't even know if it boots but a few people have downloaded it so.

N8000 feedback
Superb job, OP. Been playing with the rom for two hours now. Solid, no major bugs encountered so far :good: I can confirm the cosmetic bugs mentioned by aalupatti especially the nav bar ones. Not a problem for me, I usually disable the navbar and use gesture control so I can have fullscreen and thanks for bringing back tablet mode, I couldn't simply understand the common sense (or lack of) in cm10.1 roms putting both statusbar and navbar and taking up alot of screen real estate Just to let you know its working on the N8000.
N8010
Hi Jamison904,
do you plan to build this for the N8010 too?
Regards
Very nice, James. I finally got around to getting it installed and it's really good. First time running 4.2 on a tablet, so I'm excited about the multi user aspect. But side note, I didn't realize that root didn't apply to the non-primary users... That kinda sucks. lol
But ROM wise, well done.:good:

So far, I haven't had any issues of any kind; keep trying things and waiting for the other shoe to drop, and it keeps not happening. :victory:

Did you try toggling 'Airplane Mode' off and on? If that doesn't work, try toggling your mobile data at settings/more../Mobile Network Settings/Data Enabled off and on. If neither work, reDL, wipe, and flash. Let me know how it goes...

Yeaaaah!! Thanks a bunch!
What do u mean by unofficial? It isnt your rom "unofficial" or is it because its unstable "unofficial" or simply because the base is from cm?
Thanks and sorry for the noob question guys... I just always wondered what an "UN"official rom is doing in an "Original development section"
But none the less thank u so much for the rom bout to flash it Now!!!! Any bugs i should know about?

I think it means someone just took the carbon sources and built it. But the device isn't supported and maintained by the carbon team :S
So you wouldn't find Galaxy S5 roms on the carbonrom website.

Guys guys this is a beta build, not a stable build. So things are bound not to work. Wait for a few days mate.

Mine isnt smooth, it lags so bad... Is Is It because i used twrp ? I wiped everything, flashed with the provided slim apps, without it, then after... And nothing it starts lagging right into the boot screen then when i hit next...it stays stuck on welcome... ?
Anyone else having this issue?

We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.

The zip isnt flashing. I can open it ith 7zip without error but when I flash i flash with Philz recovery or the one included in CM build. It gives an Status 7 error, "set perm: some changes failed". It says there is an error in the zip. Please have a look.

if u read op it states in changelog that its the first build and a lot of Carbon builds were like that on last 2 nightlies.
Cyanogen modified tool for ota package wich make all our build broke.
I wasn't even able to build Friday, yesterday it went thru but as u saw error7 shows because init is trying to call and change perm on inexistant files...
I will build another one soon as its fixed. Don't worry i will also update 2/3 times a week...

With Sony devices, all cm and cm based has to be flashed with fastboot, when coming from stock.
Or else only wipes it's ok coming from cm...
If not; error while flashing, recoveries for stock roms doesn't flash cm kernels i guess.
@kjhughes
its cm11 based...plus features....
Flashed this earlier, no really issue for me at all other than
- Camera and Camcorder
-Doesn't seem as smooth as stock (scrolling)
Other than that, it's working with no problems for me. Had to go back to stock so I can't test anymore. Awesome work dude!!!
