One's motive for helping/doing something for someone or sharing information shouldn't be driven by the "Thanks" button nor donations on these forums. But the thanks button is one method to measure a users contributions to the community.

I'd like to think that a lot of people that receive help would actually type their thanks out in a reply rather than push the button. Sounds like something I'd do.

^This! A few years ago there was no XDA "thanks" button...

Actually, a MUST READ for new users are the forum rules. I think its exponentially more important that they follow the rules than hit the thanks button
The kinda ironic thing too is most guys with a lot of thanks really don't care about their thanks count and the ones that do care about it usually have something like "if I helped you hit the thanks button" in their signature.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2

^^ So true.
Some people just reallly need that pat on the back.
Hit thanks if I didn't help you.

Here's another reason to use the thanks button, to keep the threads clean from un-useful replies.

with all respect whats the point of this thread. why is so important? Im going to be honest with you i have been in this forum for more than a year (g1,hd2,mt4g,my touch, incredible, droid x and alot more i dont remember) if you see my numbers your are going to laught. but you know what i dont care because i dont know you but im here to learn of the devs if i can help i do or at least i try. But i not going to clicking thanks on every silly post. And honestly theres only a few posts deserve thanks in this bionic forum the rest are are just a waste of time. Like i said im not here for numbers and im not afraid to click the thanks but you are going to see my thanks on the posts i think really deserve.
This is no personal im just making my point and trying to help you with your question.
i prefer too see a member with 25 helpful posts than a member with 300 nonsense posts.

if you feel like youre really helping this forum, it doesnt matter how many times you get a thanks on your posts just keep doing what you do and forget that. do you think that stopped the great devs we have here on xda community?

What all do u get from people clicking "Thanks"? Just another number or just to feel appreciated or what? I just received thanking privileges and am rather new to this site.

I use the xda app and don't see a thanks button. But does it make a difference if someone tells you thank you or hits the thanks button? A lot of the people who need help on here is because they haven't taken the time to read through the information and follow instructions. If they can't take time to read and follow instructions, can't really expect them to click a thanks button.

To a point yes to a point no and all you have to do is push the menu button on phone browser and click the thanks button bam done.
Sent from my AXI0M IONIC using XDA App
Unfortunately when I hit menu, it doesn't have a thanks button. I get refresh, reply, subscribe, browser, close.
I still stand by that majority of the help could be avoided in the first place if people would read and follow the exact directions. Most of the.questions on here have been answered many times and still get asked again. I am starting to see why so many developers have left xda.

OK well that makes sense..

To thanks in the XDA app or tapatalk itself just long press on the post in question. You will then get the Thanks options added as a possible choice

Nope, I get quote, reply, send user message, and view users profile.
I say thanks when someone helps me so they know I appreciate it and that's what really matters.

Tap the post you want to thank and it's in that menu. If it's not in there then make sure you've got the latest version. It's been in for a while now so I'd be surprised if it was because you've got an old version, but you never know.
Not positive, but I don't think the free xda app has a thanks button

Its funny what people are doing at the moment!!

1.making useless threads for example post your homescreen, development guide etc even when phone is not released in order to earn thanks!!
2.asking for specs confirmation....
Mine question to them:
How can one know specs at the moment when phone is still to be released!!
So people have some patience and wait for its release...everything will be clear!

I agree, so I'm just having fun with it all, having a harmless joke here and there
However, you don't need to have a "hit thanks if I helped" in your sig either
To be honest I wish they would remove the thanks button as I get sick of people asking to be thanked and worrying about some arbitrary thank meter

Better Camerea Quality For Photos

Hi I haven't posted any threads or questions in quite a while. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with this question that I have, and that is the following.
I have the HTC Desire 510 phone and after using it I discovered that the camera quality is pretty low on the camera settings for photos that are taken using the stock camera that is built into the phone. I was wondering if there is a way to get better quality photos on it, by using a third party app?

Hahaha not exactly, but i did kind of figure it was a sig thing.
I just don't understand what's so hard about thanking somebody for helping you out. Or following up in the help thread saying "Hey, you know what? This did/didn't work for me" so that current/future users could learn from your experience
Reminds me of "finishing" with a girl then just walking out of the room, never to return, without even a word lmao [emoji23]
