What version of Android to go for best battery life? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello there guys,
I'm currently using AndroSlim v3, which has 4.2.1 version of Android, which functions and look i really like, but all honesty, battery life is not treating me well. I talk on the phone a lot, I also use internet, a lot. I bought JuiceDefender Plus from Google Play, and so far, I'm happy with its performance, but my battery still can't last more than 24 hours, and sometimes it just has to.
Now, I've been using different custom ROMs for quite a while, so I can't really remember how battery life was on stock GB ROM, which I know is a huge step back, but one I'd be willing to take in favor of battery life.
My question is - Do you, the more experienced users, think that stock Samsung GB ROM would get me significantly better battery life, over custom 4.1 or 4.2 ROMs?
By significant I mean an increase of battery life of 30% or more.

Ynt: What version of Android to go for best battery life?
For me,there is a BIG/noticeable difference between sto k and custom I think there's something with custom roms i dunno maybe because of their file systems...
When i'm on GB(currently) .Almost 2 days i'm getting. But i have Polarcell 1800mah battery(btw i bought this because i tought i would get same batt. Performance on custom roms just like GB but i was wrong )
Anyway with slimbean it's like 10 hours(4hours screen on time )
But on gb ,with same using i'm getting 17-18 hours...
People says this battery thing depends on anyone... i dont believe it i calibrated my battery many many times also original one but no luck

And the difference performance-wise? Is it too big?
I will probably flash stock rom tomorrow to test for the weekend, but still, I wanna get as much info as possible beforehand.

It all depends to you. What are you doing with your phone tell me?
I'm;
Browsing
Listening music with Poweramp(almost 4 hours a day)
Using some apps (Dropbox etc)
Also sometimes i'm playing Temple Run 2 .
And with this using, stock rom is alright for me...
Just tell me what you're doing with your phone

Well, i mostly talk and use viber, whatsapp and facebook, some browsing and listening to music, and rarely ever a game of fruit ninja. What drains my battery the most is the constant internet connection, which i really need.
I have another Q now... How do i flash a stock rom, when i downloaded from sammobile the rom had only one single .tar file, instead of 3?

Thanks!

Yeah, I am fine with flashing with ODIN, in fact, I just flashed a stock ROM, but for some reason, I can't root it now - everytime I try to, my phone gets stuck in bootloop and I have to re-flash the ROM in order to start it.
The rom I found and flashed is XXJVT 2.3.5.
I will stick to non-root until you post a link to another ROM.
I tried rooting both with ODIN(Chainfire SU) and with SuperOneClick by ShortFuse. WIth ODIN it just soft bricked, while with SuperOneClick I got the root at first, but then at reboot, it soft bricked again.

Ynt: What version of Android to go for best battery life?
Here mate http://dfiles.eu/files/ozlvhcnod
extract it.Get s1_20100512.pit file from somewhere if that's not available at rar file...
Why you're rooting it ? do you really using root
Anyway the rom i gave can be rooted with cfroot 4.4 (JW4 cfroot)
or semaphore 2.7.4 kernel
But as i said do it if you really using it.
Because when you're rooted, there is a system called busybox is running at the bsckground always. It's affecting battery even it's minimal...
Alright Timr to flash
Also hoe did you get soft brick i wonder Are you sure you're not ticking re-partition from odin?
But now when you're flashing jw9 with 4 file ,you should tick re partiion actually odin is ticking it automaticly after selecting pit but make sure....
Naa! you said you know how to flash why i'm explaning ?

Stock gives you best battery life but I'm on CM10.1 and find my battery life more than sufficient.
During sleep my battery usage is virtually non-existent, my only beef with JB is 3G drain, it's just so damn high. Since you're using whatsapp and viber etc I'd suggest using stock ROM for the more stable battery drain

You're welcome mate
Like the person who posted a comment before you,you should use GB instead of JB if you''re just using whatsapp, viber, music, browsing etc...
But at all android versions, pocket data(2/3g) is biggest battery drainer Even more then Wi-fi?

After I went back to stock ROM with semaphore 2.7.4 kernel, ny battery lasts over 30 hours. Before, with custom roms, best I managed to get out of it was 19 hours. I haven't changed the way I use the phone. And all honesty, it's not really slower. Yes, it does lack some customization and features, which custom 4.2.1 roms have, but performance wise it's not different.

Yes that's a true analyze.Look;
ICS custom roms were blazin' fast believe but after JB... Its speed is just like stock roms if you dont overclock your cpu
Btw if you even want to get more battery, use stock non rooted kerbel i mean flash the rom again bu dont root it

I'd suggest the emanoN v3 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1176927) that look like a Stock ROM, but gives you the possibility to overclock up to 806MHz, and consequently has Root access. It's based on 2.3.5
Highly fast and stable. Much more with the overclock since Mini is a little lazy on Gingerbread.
Thanx, using gingerbread UK.
Hope it stable...

Which is the best kernel.... safe kernel...????

Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
for me, its NoteCore kernel, it has the MMC_CAP_ERASE line removed as well as the cwm.zip bug too. Making it 2x safer than the rest
Its also fcuking awesome !!!
What bout Franco kernel is it safe....
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
its safe from the MMC_CAP_ERASE bug which triggers the brickbug, But im not sure about the cwm.zip bug, its only just been discovered...
I havent read too much into it to be honest, Ive always used NoteCore kernels and I know its double safe so I dont worry about it
Check it out if you're concerned , Its stickied in the General section

First there's not such a thing as a "kernal" now if you mean KERNEL there's not many options for tw roms... There's only 2 notecore and speedmod, the experience its different for everyone.. Try both and see what's best for you

SpeedMod versions lower than K3-9, has problems with Bluetooth... My best advice (if you have tried K3-13 already) is try using k3-9. See if that would alleviate your 'hotness' issue on your phone.

Optimised battery i would think is a combination of both Kernel & Rom Apps, the stock kernel runs close to the 832 MHz frequency at most times even when the phone is idle. I always found my battery went fast when on stock firmware. RB's Kernel supports different frequencies and thus depending on the load on the CPU this can help save battery consumption. A bareboned ROM will also help keep power consumption low but the trade off is less app functionality on your phone.
See retribution gave me a very poor battery back up with 3G and wifi. But its quite fast. Right nw i am on stock deodexed XXLH3...with domscript and rafaels kernel. It gives me a 3/4th of a days use....with 3g and wifi.
Battery back up with simplicity V2 was quite good. But it has some app issues. (extreme bareboned). Kies doesnt recognise my fone. So had to restore my XXLH3 back up.

Are you running WIFI and 3g permanetly all day? If so this will drain your battery pretty fast regardless of what ROM your using i would assume. The Simplicity ROM's are fast and smooth, but at the moment i would wait for its v3 release, im currently using Jillie Bean Beta2 which works for me. You need to be realistic about how much battery use you will get out of your phone, if its being left idle power off functions you dont need.

I agree with you. I do that with every rom i use. And till now simplicity was best at that. XXLA2 Roms didnt last long than these newer versions. Maybe there wud be some stock battery management tweaks. As of now...the battery has been getting better for me with every new updated stock version. I dont know about other users. But I have a question about this rom.

Can some one tell me if "XXLI1" will also support German language.
It is possible to import the language afterwards?
